HBO’s ‘Hard Knocks’ Set to Feature The Chicago Bears

The Chicago Bears announced Thursday that they will appear on HBO’s hit documentary Hard Knocks during this year’s training camp.

Since its inception in 2001, Hard Knocks has never featured the Bears, largely due to opposition from Chairman George McCaskey, who had long resisted allowing HBO access. I guess times are changing.

The arrival of No. 1 draft pick Caleb Williams, a standout quarterback from USC, provides a compelling narrative for the series. Maybe that had something to do with the McCaskey’s change of heart.

“We are honored to feature such an iconic NFL franchise on ‘Hard Knocks,’” said Shannon Furman, NFL Films’ senior director and supervising producer. “The Chicago Bears have a talented roster, coaching staff, and front office all determined to match the expectations of a hungry fan base.”

The Bears will be the first team to report to training camp in late July and are scheduled to play the Houston Texans in the Hall of Fame game in Canton, Ohio, on August 1. Talk about history made in real-time. The first episode of Hard Knocks will air at 9 p.m. ET on August 6.

Caleb Williams Compares Himself To Aaron Rodgers, Haters Tear Him Apart

Caleb Williams, the frontrunner for the No. 1 pick in next month’s NFL Draft, has faced a wave of hate after comparing himself to Aaron Rodgers. Williams had made the comparison, namely about his height and weight, at the NFL Combine. However, haters online quickly jumped on him to manipulate his comments. “I compare myself to Aaron Rodgers off the field. I’m a selfish, cocky pr-ck just like him. On the field, I’m like Zach Wilson. I play really well vs poor competition but struggle vs good defenses like Notre Dame,” one wrote X account labeled as a Justin Fields fan account.

Chicago currently holds the first overall pick. However, pundits are split on what the team will do with it. Some believe Chicago will draft Williams, others believe they will keep the aforementioned Fields and build around him. However, there are also those who still see Chicago as going the Philly route and trading back to acquire draft capital. However, the potential to move on from Fields has already soured many fans against Williams.

Jets Grant Zach Wilson Permission To Seek Trade

Furthermore, speaking of Aaron Rodgers, it is expected that he will have a new backup in New York next season. The Jets have granted embattled QB Zach Wilson permission to seek a trade. It’s a move that has been expected since the team owner said that the team “didn’t have a backup quarterback” last season. The team will work closely with Wilson’s agent to try and move the former second-overall pick. It is widely expected that Wilson, who has never settled in the NFL, will garner a late-round pick at most.

However, the Jets are eager to find a quality backup for Aaron Rodgers. “We’re still really early in the offseason, especially when it comes to the veteran backup landscape and market. We’ve had good meetings and good evaluations with the guys that are available, and I think we’re ready to take the next step and see where the market is exactly with these backup quarterbacks,” GM Joe Douglas said this week.

Caleb Williams Pens Heartfelt Message While Declaring For The NFL Draft

Caleb Williams is a special football player. Overall, he has done a lot of good with the USC Trojans. There has been a lot of hype around him as it pertains to the NFL Draft. Moreover, there has been debate over whether or not he would even declare.

For instance, a report came out over the weekend indicating how Williams would only declare for the draft if the Chicago Bears traded their pick. Simply put, he has no interest in playing for them. However, it turns out that this report did not have much merit behind it. Today, Williams took to Instagram with a heartfelt message in which he explained his intentions for the offseason. As you can see, he has decided to declare for the draft, despite the Bears waiting to announce a decision.

Caleb Williams Speaks

“I want to thank Sooner Nation for embracing a kid who came to you from Washington D.C. I cherished my time at OU. Caleb Williams Distances Himself From Pat Mahomes Comparisons

Caleb Williams could very well be the first-overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Alongside North Carolina’s Drake Maye, the USC signal caller is considered to be one the best QBs at the college level this year. After beginning his career at Oklahoma in 2021, Williams followed head coach Lincoln Riley to USC in 2022. He quickly turned into one of the best D1 passers, throwing for 4537 yards and 42 touchdowns. However, the season was marred by a blowout loss in the Pac-12 Championship and then an embarrassing and improbable loss to Tulane in the Cotton Bowl.

Short of a historic collapse, Williams should be a first-overall candidate while USC stacks as a National Championship contender. However, people are already trying to find the words to describe Williams’ play and perceived collegiate dominance. Those efforts often end in some sort of comparison to Pat Mahomes, widely considered the best pro quarterback in the NFL right now. However, it’s not that Williams himself especially agrees with.

Williams Wants To Be Judged On His Own Merits

“The Patrick Mahomes thing, I’ve seen it. I don’t think anything of it. I’m my own self. I’m Caleb Williams, number 13 for the USC Trojans. I don’t think too much of it other than, it’s’ respect. Mahomes has been the best guy in the league basically since he got in the league. He’s been playing at the highest level. I just say respect. The man’s got two Super Bowls under his belt, and I’ve got not even one national championship. I just classify it as respect because I’ve been working my tail off to try and be the best,” Williams told The Ringer.

Riley made similar comments when he asked about the subject at the Pac-12 Media Day. “There are some similarities. I think some of the vision and some of the creative arm angle. Also the ability to get the ball out is similar,” Riley said. “Pat played a lot of football though. I have to remind people that Caleb didn’t play his senior year of high school and only half the year his first year at Oklahoma. … Obviously, Pat is the best quarterback in the game and that’s a flattering comparison, but Caleb’s got a long way to go to get to that.”
