Brooklyn Nets Unveil 2024-25 Nike NBA City Edition Uniform with KAWS Collaboration

The Brooklyn Nets have launched their 2024-25 Nike NBA City Edition uniform in partnership with iconic Brooklyn artist KAWS. Building on their commitment to spotlight local talent, the Nets are the only pro team KAWS has collaborated with, making this the second year of their partnership. This initiative celebrates Brooklyn’s unique cultural landscape and further strengthens the team’s dedication to fashion-forward designs, which also includes their premium merchandise line, bǝrō.

The new uniform draws inspiration from KAWS’ 10-part “TENSION” series, incorporating his signature abstract elements. Designed with a gray palette and vibrant accent colors, the jersey prominently displays “BROOKLYN” across the chest—a change from last year’s “NETS”—to honor the team’s borough. The uniform lettering is inspired by KAWS’ graphic style, with a remixed Nets logo on the shorts and his signature “XX” motif on the waistband. Additionally, KAWS’ autograph appears above the jersey’s jock tag, adding an exclusive artist touch.

“It was a pleasure to design my second City Edition uniform for the Nets, honoring my local team and community while paying tribute to the borough of Brooklyn,” said KAWS.

“We’re excited to expand our partnership with KAWS, whose work pushes artistic boundaries and allows us to continue to connect with fans all over the world,” said Andrew Karson, Executive Vice President of Marketing at BSE Global, parent company of the Nets. “Our latest City Edition collaboration continues the Nets’ commitment to cultural innovation, and its fresh and expressive vision represents the borough we call home. These uniforms reflect our connection to the community, and KAWS’ distinctive artistic style perfectly captures the spirit of Brooklyn – bold, vibrant, and full of energy.”

This edition follows previous tributes to Brooklyn icons The Notorious B.I.G. and Jean-Michel Basquiat, cementing the Nets’ commitment to celebrating local influences. The uniform also features the GetYourGuide patch on the left chest.

The KAWS jerseys will be featured at the following games:
Sunday, Dec. 1 vs. Orlando Magic

Knicks Retain OG Anunoby on Five-Year, $212.5M Deal

The New York Knicks are going for it. After making a big trade on Monday, they inked a key player to a large contract on Wednesday. The Knicks and OG Anunoby agreed to a five-year, $212.5 million contract.

Anunoby was obtained in a trade from the Toronto Raptors last season, helping the Knicks in the playoffs before he had to bow out due to injury. Anunoby was a critical defender in the playoff run. According to ESPN, Anunoby averaged 14.7 points and 4.2 rebounds last season.

Anunoby will be paid an average of $42 million per year.

The New York Knicks have fully assembled the Nova Knicks. In a Monday night trade, the Knicks traded across the city to pull in Mikal Bridges from the Brooklyn Nets. Bridges join his Villanova teammates Jalen Brunson, Donte DiVincenzo, and Josh Hart.

The trade is a reset for the Nets, bringing in four unprotected first-rounders (2025, 2027, 2029, and 2031), a protected 2025 first-round pick via the Milwaukee Bucks, the Knicks’ unprotected 2028 pick swap, and a 2025 Brooklyn second-round selection.

More trades are expected ahead of and during the 2024 NBA Draft.

Ben Simmons Shut Down For The Season

After just 15 games, Ben Simmons is once again heading to the injured list. “Ben Simmons will remain out for the remainder of the season while he consults with specialists and explores treatment options for the nerve impingement in his lower back. Simmons, along with his representatives and Nets medical personnel, are currently in discussions with numerous experts to determine the course of action that will provide him with the best opportunity for long-term sustainable health,” the Nets said in a statement.

Despite confidence that 2023/24 would be his comeback season, Simmons was stymied by a recurring back injury. This caused him to miss 38 games in the middle of the season. Furthermore, the same injury had led him to miss the five games prior to the Nets 86ing for the rest of the year. It remains to be seen what will what with the former No. 1 pick. He is a free agent after the 2024/25 season.

Cam’ron Makes On-Air Apology To Ben Simmons

With Simmons shut down after 15 games, his season will likely be remembered for his beef with Cam’ron. The altercation spurred a rare apology from Killa. The rapper and It Is What It Is host had previously insinuated that he and Simmons had gotten involved in an altercation. This reportedly occurred backstage during a Nets game. Cam’ron clarified that he misrepresented the situation and that he was sorry for doing that.

However, reaction to the apology was split. Many social media users were surprised that Cam’ron even had the capacity to apologize. This is given his history of verbose and unapologetic statements live on air. After all, this is the same man who responded to divorce drama by asking about the wife’s cleavage and then getting a massage from her. However, the other set of responses were more expressing their surprise that Cam’ron had taken things as far as he had in the first place.

Kyrie Irving Seemingly Blames Eric Adams For Nets Exit Amid Return To Brooklyn

Kyrie Irving took shots at New York Mayor Eric Adams amid his first game back in Brooklyn. “Thank Eric Adams for that,” Irving told a fan after the asked why Irving “didn’t play like this for the Nets”. Irving’s comment is a direct shot at New York’s strict vaccine mandate during the first years of the COVID-19 pandemic. Irving was essentially suspended by the Nets as he was unable to train with the team or play home games due to his unvaccinated status. The rules were later amended almost in service of allowing Irving to play. However, Irving’s Nets tenure would suffer through many more speed bumps before his trade to Dallas.

Furthermore, Irving addressed his return to Brooklyn at the post-game press conference. “I just think it was time to get my own peace of mind and go somewhere where I was able to thrive, and be in a situation where I didn’t have to worry about kind of behind-the-back talk or the media talk or not knowing how to handle real-life circumstances that has nothing to do with the game of basketball. It has everything to do with how you handle someone as a person. While I was here, I learned a lot of lessons. I’ve made my peace again, like I said, and I just want to move forward,” Irving said. He scored 36 in the Mavs’ 119-107 win.

Rabbis Feud With Kyrie Irving Over Alleged Sign Removal

However, Irving has not been wholly able to stay out of trouble in Dallas. Earlier this season, Irving found himself the target of the ire of a group of rabbis. In January, a group of Utah Jazz-supporting rabbis has claimed they were asked to put away signs reading “I’m a Jew and I’m proud” during a game against the Mavericks. Furthermore, they claim that the request was due to complaints from Kyrie Irving. Rabbi Avremi Zippel and three of his colleagues sat at the Delta Center with their signs with the intent of attracting Irving’s attention due to his anti-Semitic comments in 2022. According to Zippel, Irving acknowledged the signs in the first quarter. The Mavs veteran reportedly told Zippel and his friends, “Nice, I’m a Jew, too. Don’t gotta bring something like that to the game.”

Soon after the interaction, Zippel claims security approached his group and told them to remove the signs. The official cited a rule about holding signs in courtside seats. However, Zippel also claims that another staffer later informed him that the removal was due to Irving filing a complaint with security. While Zippel said he had previously checked the rules about signs, the team issued a statement after the game. “No matter where someone is in the arena, if a sign becomes distracting or sparks an interaction with a player, we will ask them to remove it. There was a group sitting courtside whose signs sparked an interaction with a player that created a distraction and interfered with play of game,” the Jazz said. Irving’s representation denied that Irving complained to security. Furthermore the Jazz disputed the account of what they called a “part-time employee”.

WATCH: Kyrie Irving Blames Mayor Adams for His Nets Performance in Return to Brooklyn

NYC Mayor Eric Adams

Kyrie Irving returned to the Brooklyn Nets as a member of the Dallas Mavericks for the first time. And to a chorus of boos, he let the Nets fans have it.

Irving dropped off 36 points, adding to Luka Doncic’s 35 and 18 rebounds, as the Mavs beat the Nets 119-107.

Trending online is a moment where a Nets fan asked Irving why he didn’t hoop like that in a Nets jersey. His answer was simple: “Thank Mayor Adams for that, bro.”

Before Kyrie Irving was moved to the Dallas Mavericks, Spectrum News NY1’s Pat Kiernan asked the NYC mayor Eric Adams what he would do about the then-current Brooklyn Nets’ situation, which was complicated with Irving.

“I will find the team that beats us the most and send him to that team, because then we’ll start beating that team,” Adams said. “It’s about synergy in energy. No matter how much talent you have, your ability to interact with your colleagues is more important.”

He added, “One player can bring down the synergy of the team. And so I would send him to the team that beats us the most so we can start winning better.”

Days after requesting a trade from the Brooklyn Nets, Kyrie Irving officially became a member of the Dallas Mavericks.

According to The Athletic, Irving was offered a contract extension with stipulations, but that was declined. “Principle differences” emerged after Irving declined the deal. Irving inked a new deal with the Mavericks in the offseason.

In return for Irving, the Nets received Spencer Dinwiddie, Dorian Finney-Smith, a first-round and multiple second-round picks.
