Ab-Soul’s Drake “Redemption” Tweet Was Bait, Charlamagne Tha God Speculates

It goes without saying that the past few months have been rough for Drake. After going back and forth with Kendrick Lamar in what became a wild and viral lyrical battle, the Compton rapper was declared the winner by most. Since then, Kendrick’s gone on to team up with several peers for a “Pop Out” in LA, dropped a music video for one of the most explosive tracks of the feud “Not Like Us,” and more. While some suspect that this will be impossible for Drizzy to recover from completely, others think it could still be possible, like Ab-Soul.

Earlier this week, he took to X with an interesting message, suggesting that Drake might still have a chance to redeem himself. “If Drake is the MC I imagine he can be. Redemption is not off the table,” he wrote simply. As expected, this sparked a heated debate in his replies, prompting him to clarify.

(Removing my obvious personal/educated bias).” Now, Charlamagne Tha God has shared his take on the puzzling Tweets on The Brilliant Idiots podcast, arguing that this may have nothing but bait.

“That’s not okay,” he said. “It means Kendrick still wants to beat him up. Charlamagne Tha God Reveals How Drake Could Win Kendrick Lamar Feud

Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s lyrical feud has garnered reactions from countless social media users and peers. Unfortunately for Drizzy, the consensus is that K-Dot came out on top. His response to “Not Like Us” was poorly received in general, as most felt as though it wasn’t nearly as hard-hitting as it needed to be in order to compete. Now, Drake appears to have waved the white flag for good, sharing a cryptic Instagram Story this morning hinting at what’s next for him. “Good times,” he captioned an image of a singular samurai facing a large cavalry. “Summer vibes up next.”

Despite Drake seemingly declaring the beef over, fans continue to come up with hypothetical ways he could turn things around. During a recent episode of Brilliant Idiots, for example, Charlamagne Tha God shared his take. He thinks that what Drake would need are receipts to back up his accusations, like a paternity test from Dave Free or some kind of proof of Kendrick’s alleged domestic violence.

“Kendrick’s energy is to discredit him,” he explained. “Right now the reason that Kendrick wins is because he’s got all the energy.” According to Charlamagne, the reason there are threads backing up some of Kendrick’s claims is simply because Drake lost, and because people are more eager to see him knocked down a peg.

They went on to debate whether or not receipts would actually make a difference, agreeing that it may be impossible to match the magnitude of what’s already happened. Charlamagne Tha God Explains How Diddy Raids Were Sad To Watch

Charlamagne Tha God has been commenting on matters involving music and pop culture for decades. Overall, he is the most popular host on The Breakfast Club, and fans are always interested in what he has to say about a given topic. These days, the topic that is at the top of everyone’s mind just so happens to involve Diddy. Last week, he had his homes in Miami and Los Angeles raided. This was a massive story, although at this time, Diddy is not being charged with anything, and he has not been arrested. Regardless, fans are curious about what is going to happen.

During the most recent episode of The Brilliant Idiots podcast with Charlamagne and Andrew Schulz, the topic of Diddy was brought up almost immediately. As Charlamagne Tha God explained, the entire situation makes him very sad. Even just watching the raid, the radio host was upset by the visuals on his screen. “This is a fucking raid,” Charlamagne noted. “I don’t know, man, I just don’t like it. I don’t like it because it’s sad. How many peoples’ legacies have we watched burn to the ground? From Russell Simmons, Diddy …”

In his eyes, it hurts to see people you’ve connected with culturally, have their legacies torn down. He felt the same way about Ye, and he also feels that way about Bill Cosby. “It’s just one emotion? Y’all all lying to yourselves if you say, ‘Yeah good for them, fuck them!’ These guys fucking provided the soundtrack to our lives. They contributed to the culture in real ways before we knew any of this shit … You have feelings, you have mixed emotions,” Charlamagne explained.

Kanye West’s Music Fanbase Is Dwindling, Charlamagne Tha God Suggests: Watch

For the past few days, hip-hop bloggers and podcasters have been catching plenty of heat for sharing their opinions. In particular, we’ve seen Drake trading shots with both Charlamagne Tha God and Joe Budden regarding his new For All The Dogs album. Clearly being put on blast by the 6ix God didn’t phase the former. He had plenty to say about another rhymer – Kanye West – during a recent episode of his Brilliant Idiots podcast.

“I’ll tell you what Drake has that I don’t think Kanye has anymore,” The Breakfast Club host said in the clip below. “I think Drake has a devoted fanbase for his music. Kanye’s fanbase, people like Kanye, you know, whether it’s for the antics, for the sneakers, whatever else,” Charlamagne further speculated. “But you might not be checking for his music.” Co-host Andrew Schulz then chimed in with a story about being at a comic show and watching everyone in the vicinity rap along to Drizzy, which he compared to being at “a Taylor Swift concert.”

Of course, the Canadian artist has put out four noteworthy albums in the past few months. As for West, he’s focusing on fashion and his marriage to Bianca Censori. Schulz pointed out that older tracks from the latter’s discography would earn a similar reaction as what he saw with Drake, but when it comes to new music from the Chicago native, audiences don’t seem to get as hyped up to sing along.

While Charlamagne insists that Kanye West’s fans no longer care about his music, the father of four is reportedly planning an event in Italy that just may prove him wrong. It’s been some time since we’ve seen Ye perform live, but later this month he’s allegedly putting on a massive concert that’s sure to turn plenty of heads his way if the rumours are true.
