Drake’s ‘Certified Lover Boy’ Earns Its Fifth Overall Week At No. 1

Drake’s sixth album Certified Lover Boy has spent the second-most weeks at No. 1 in 2021. It trails Morgan Wallen’s Dangerous: The Double Album, as that project held on to the top spot for ten consecutive weeks. While Drake’s reign isn’t that impressive, it’s still noteworthy in its own right. The rapper has already collected four non-consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 which began with 631,000 units sold in its first week on the chart, the largest amount for any album released in 2021. Now, more than a month later, Certified Lover Boy is still holding on to the throne on the Billboard 200.

A week after Young Thug earned the second No. 1 album of his career with Punk, an album Drake appears on, Certified Lover Boy reclaimed the top spot on the Billboard 200 dated November 6. It took the No. 1 spot thanks to 74,000 units sold, a number comprised of 73,000 streaming equivalent album units while pure album sales accounted for less than 1,000 units. With its fifth week at No. 1, Certified Lover Boy ties Drake’s 2018 album Scorpion for the second-most weeks spent atop the charts. Both albums fall behind his 2016 effort Views, which posted 13 weeks at No. 1.

Other highlights on the chart this week include Moneybagg Yo’s A Gangsta’s Pain at No. 6, thanks to its newly-released deluxe reissue, and Lana Del Rey’s Blue Bannisters, which checks in at No. 8 to give Del Rey the eighth top-10 album of her career.

Young Thug Earns His Second Solo No. 1 Album Thanks To ‘Punk’

Two years after he first announced it, Young Thug shared his sophomore album, Punk, earlier this month, boasting appearances from Travis Scott, J. Cole, Future, Mac Miller, Juice WRLD, Post Malone, ASAP Rocky, Gunna, and more. Sonically, it was much different than his debut album So Much Fun, which arrived in the summer of 2019. The album was received well by its listeners, so much so that it hit No. 1 on the album charts in its first week.

Punk debuted atop the Billboard 200 chart dated October 30 thanks to the 90,000 album units it sold in its first week. Of this number, streaming equivalents album units comprised 77,000 of the total sales while 12,000 accounted for pure album sales. It’s Thug’s second solo album to reach the top spot after So Much Fun did so in 2019. It’s also his third overall album to go No. 1, after his Slime Language 2 compilation album, released by his Young Stoner Life label, topped the chart earlier this year.

Elsewhere, Drake’s former No. 1 album, Certified Lover Boy, checks in at No. 2, and Mac Miller’s 2014 mixtape, Faces, appears at No. 3 after the late rapper’s estate re-released it onto streaming platforms.

Drake’s ‘Certified Lover Boy’ Goes No. 1 For A Third Straight Week

Drake’s Certified Lover Boy is one of the most popular albums of the year, but the rapper originally intended for it to arrive much earlier. He originally said it would arrive in January, but he was forced to delay it following knee surgery and rehab. Sure enough, it’s been dominating the charts.

Certified Lover Boy lands its third consecutive week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart dated October 2, thanks to 171,000 album units sold, a number comprised of 165,000 streaming equivalent album units thanks to 222.16 million on-demand streams of the album’s 21 tracks. The album also earned 4,000 pure album sales this past week. With its third week at atop the album chart, Certified Lover Boy has now spent the most weeks at No. 1 for a hip-hop/R&B project since Lil Baby’s My Turn tallied five nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1 in 2020.

On top of that, Drake now has the third-most weeks spent at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 since 2010. That also means he’s earned his 30th overall week atop the albums chart, putting him behind Adele, who has 34, and Taylor Swift, who leads the way with 42.

Another highlight on this week’s chart comes with Lil Nas X checking in at No. 2 with Montero. The singer’s debut tallied 126,000 album units in its first week on the chart.

Drake’s ‘Certified Lover Boy’ Spends A Second Consecutive Week Atop The ‘Billboard’ Albums Chart

In unsurprising fashion, Drake’s Certified Lover Boy posted a huge debut last week. After delays that stretched out over eight months, the rapper released the album, which came with a stacked lineup of features: Jay-Z, Travis Scott, Future, Young Thug, Kid Cudi, Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, 21 Savage, Ty Dolla Sign, and more all appeared on the project. It wound up giving Drake his tenth No. 1 album on the Billboard 200, making him one of only eight artists to do so. Now, for its second week on the chart, Certified Lover Boy maintains its position at the top.

Certified Lover Boy held on to the top spot on the Billboard 200 thanks to 236,000 album units for the chart dated September 25. This number is comprised of 227,000 streaming equivalent album units thanks to 305.43 million on-demand streams of the album’s 21 tracks. The album also scored 6,500 pure album sales. It’s only the fourth akbum of his career to spend multiple weeks at No. 1, joining Views, More Life, and Scorpion.

Other highlights on this week’s chart include Kanye West’s Donda at No. 2, Kacey Musgraves’ new album Star-Crossed at No. 3, and Baby Keem’s The Melodic Blue at No. 5.

Drake’s ‘Certified Lover Boy’ Debuts At No. 1 With The Biggest Week In 2021

Drake fans have spent the better part of the last two years waiting for the rapper’s highly-anticipated sixth album, Certified Lover Boy. While the wait was quite lengthy, the rapper didn’t make it a grueling one for his supporters. A heavy feature run and projects that include Dark Lane Demo Tapes and Scary Hours 2 made it a bit easier to stay patient for Drake’s album. At long last, the rapper dropped Certified Lover Boy, and nearly two weeks after the project was delivered to the world, it tops the Billboard 200 in what is the biggest week in 2021.

Certified Lover Boy goes No. 1 on the album charts after posting 631,000 units sold in its first week. This number is comprised of 562,000 streaming equivalent album units based on 743.67 million on-demand streams of the album’s 21 tracks. It also posted a total of 46,000 pure album sales. With that, Certified Lover Boy becomes Drake’s tenth No. 1 album which makes him the eighth artist alongside The Beatles, Jay-Z, Bruce Springsteen, Barbara Streisand, Eminem, Elvis Presley, and Kanye West as the only artists with ten chart-topping releases.

Drake’s first week numbers for his sixth album are also the most by a project in over a year. The last album to post a bigger first week than Certified Lover Boy was Taylor Swift’s Folklore back in August 2020. In terms of just hip-hop projects, the last album to have a better debut than Certified Lover Boy was Drake’s 2018 fifth album Scorpion.

The road to Kanye West’s tenth album Donda was a long and eventful one. After hosting three listening sessions, two that were in Atlanta and one in Chicago, West finally released the album, which offered nearly two hours of music across 27 songs, with guest appearances from Jay-Z, Kid Cudi, Travis Scott, Ariana Grande, DaBaby, Marilyn Manson, Lil Baby, The Weeknd, Young Thug, Roddy Ricch, and many more. While opinions on Donda vary, it easily topped the charts.

Kanye’s also joined The Beatles, Jay-Z, Bruce Springsteen, Barbra Streisand, Eminem, and Elvis Presley as the only artists in history with ten or more chart-topping projects. Donda also earned the biggest first-week sales figure across all genres in 2021.

The Kid Laroi’s ‘F*ck Love’ Goes No. 1 On The ‘Billboard’ 200 A Year After Its Original Release

The Kid Laroi’s success first began with his 2020 debut mixtape, F*ck Love, and increased a deluxe version titled F*ck Love (Savage). Now, more than a year after the original release, he finally reaches No. 1 on the ‘Billboard’ chart thanks to a second and third reissue titled F*ck Love 3: Over You and F*ck Love 3+: Over You respectively.

The Australian act’s latest reached the top of the charts thanks to 85,000 units sold for the chart dated August 7. That number is comprised of 82,000 streaming equivalent album units and 2,000 pure album sales. On July 23, Laroi dropped F*ck Love 3: Over You, adding seven new songs and guest features from Polo G, Stunna 4 Vegas, Justin Bieber, G Herbo, Lil Durk, and Mustard. Four days later, he returned with F*ck Love 3+: Over You, which tacked on six more songs, bringing it to 35 songs and an hour and 18 minutes of music. Altogether, the pair of reissues helped boost the album into the No. 1 spot.

F*ck Love is the first album to top the chart without previously debuting at No. 1 since 2019’s Frozen II soundtrack. It’s also the first album to reach No. 1 more than a year after its release since Prince’s 2001 album The Very Best Of Prince reclaimed the top spot in 2016. The last album to sit atop the album chart for the first time more than a year after its release was the soundtrack to O Brother, Where Art Thou?. It went No. 1 sixty-three weeks after the project was initially shared back in early 2001.

Pop Smoke’s ‘Faith’ Debuts At No. 1 On The ‘Billboard’ Album Charts

A little over a year after the world received his posthumous debut album, Shoot For The Stars, Aim For The Moon, Pop Smoke’s team regrouped to unveil another one, entitled Faith. It arrived earlier this month, with 20 songs and appearances from Kanye West, Pusha T, Rick Ross, The-Dream, 42 Dugg, 21 Savage, Dua Lipa, and many more. A week and a half after its release, Faith just became the second No. 1 album for the late musician.

The album debuted atop the Billboard 200 for the chart dated July 31. Faith achieved this by selling 88,000 total album units, with 83,000 of that being streaming equivalent album units, thanks to over 113 million on-demand streams of the album’s tracks. Pure albums sales contributed an additional 4,000 units to its first week numbers. Faith joins Shoot For The Stars, Aim For The Moon as the No. 1 projects in Pop Smoke’s catalog, and it makes for his third album to enter the top 10 of the Billboard 200.

Faith debut atop the album charts comes days after a deluxe edition of the project was released. In total, four songs with guest appearances from G Herbo, OnPointLikeOP, Killa, Dread Woo, and Travi were added to the album.

Tyler The Creator’s ‘Call Me If You Get Lost’ Tops The Chart Becoming His Second Consecutive No. 1 Album

Prior to almost two weeks ago, it’d been two years since Tyler The Creator graced the world with an album. His last effort was 2019’s Igor, a project that saw the rapper take a big step away from his trademark style. This step proved beneficial as it topped the charts and earned him a Grammy award for Best Rap Album. Fast-forward to the present and Tyler is seeing similar success with his sixth album, Call Me If You Get Lost. The project, which the rapper released last month, became his second consecutive chart-topping album after it debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

The album reached the top of the chart thanks to 169,000 album units sold. This number is comprised of 114,000 streaming equivalent album units, backed by 152.96 million on-demand streams of the project’s songs. It also posted a total of 55,000 pure album sales. It should also be noted that if album sales were deducted from Tyler’s first-week numbers, Call Me If You Get Lost still would have gone No. 1 thanks to a strong streaming week.

Tyler’s album was accompanied by just one other debut within the top 10 positions of the chart this week. That would be Doja Cat’s Planet Her which checked in at No. 2 thanks to 109,000 units sold. Her album was boosted by a five-track deluxe reissue that arrived two days after the standard edition of Planet Her.

Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘Sour’ Returns To No. 1 On The ‘Billboard’ Albums Chart

There are many arguments to be had about which artist is having the best year so far. One possibility is Olivia Rodrigo. The pop star earned her breakout moment at the beginning of the year thanks to her debut single, “Drivers License,” which smashed Spotify records and spent ample time atop the Billboard album charts. Her success continued with the release of additional singles, such as “Good 4 U” and “Deja Vu,” as well as the arrival of her debut album, Sour, which debuted at No. 1. Now, a little over a month after it dropped, it’s back at the top.

In the last week, Sour tallied a total of 105,000 album units. As a result, it joins Morgan Wallen’s Dangerous: The Double Album as the only full-length efforts in 2021 to sell more than 100,000 units in each of its first five weeks on the chart. Sour made its debut last month on the Billboard 200 with 295,000 albums units sold. That number was comprised of 218,000 streaming equivalent album units that came from 300.73 million on-demand streams of the album’s songs. It made for the largest overall week for an album in 2021 and the second-largest streaming week ever by a female artist behind Ariana Grande’s 2018 album Thank U, Next.
