Latto Addresses Rumored Coi Leray Beef At Coachella

Latto killed any speculations about her rumored feud with Coi Leray during Coachella. After releasing “Put It On Da Floor” on Friday, the Queen Of The Souf rapper delivered her first performance of the record during Coachella weekend 2. Delivering her opening bars a capella, she clarified her reference to Coi Leray before jumping into the song. “Aye, Coi, by the way, I love yo body, baby,” she said. It didn’t take long for the clip to return to the Trendsetter artist who simply quoted the video on Twitter with a “100” emoji.

Ultimately, it all boiled down to a simple misunderstanding between the two artists, which Coi admitted afterward. “It was the diss record with my name on it that confused me. Much love to Latto! Appreciate the compliment,” she wrote on Twitter. She previously expressed a similar statement a day prior when she acknowledged that she may have overreacted. “Maybe I overreacted idk,” she wrote. “I’m not a big blunt small blunt. Don’t compare me to nada.”

Latto & Coi Leray Make Up

The line in question lands on the second verse of Latto’s “Put It On Da Floor,” which led to the internet debating whether or not it was shade. “Smokin’ on that gas, blunt big as Coi Leray/ B*tches like to run to mouths but I’m the type to run the fade,” she raps. Immediately afterward, Coi went off on Twitter, claiming that Latto simply wanted to engage in some sort of rap beef with her. Afterward, she suggested that there were tensions behind closed doors between the two. Some felt like it may have surrounded the leak of Latto’s reference track for “Blick Blick.”

Unfortunately, in Coi Leray’s attempt to deflect the beef, she got caught up in her own fib. At one point, she suggested that she “don’t know none of you bitches in real life.” As expected, fans thought that was a dig toward Latto, though it didn’t take long for receipts to surface. Coi Leray, in fact, appeared in Latto’s 2020 music video for “On God” as an extra. Regardless, Coi Leray and Latto have put their feud behind them, Perhaps, we can expect a collaboration in the near future.

Frank Ocean’s Coachella Ice Skating Rink Used By Skrillex

The ice skating rink that Frank Ocean planned to use during his Coachella performance ended up being used for Skrillex, Fred Again.., and Four Tet’s set at the festival. The group took the ice out of the rink and made a stage out of it. The decision was made after Ocean dropped out of the festival for its second weekend after a disappointing showing as the headliner for the first weekend. It was later reported that Ocean suffered an ankle injury during rehearsals for the set. “It was chaotic,” he said in a statement. “There is some beauty in chaos. It isn’t what I intended to show but I did enjoy being out there and I’ll see you soon.”

Billboard previously reported Frank Ocean’s injury will cost the festival millions of dollars. They wrote that Coachella was “trying to make the best out of the millions of dollars spent on building a giant ice pad that was supposed to accommodate over 100 skaters during Ocean’s set last Sunday,” and that “the Goldenvoice team is working out how to incorporate it into another yet-to-be determined performance.”

Despite the disappointing performance from Ocean, the elusive singer did confirm that a new album is on the way during his set. “It’s been so long. Everybody talks about how long it’s been. ‘It’s been so long, it’s been so long.’ But I have missed you,” Frank told the audience between songs. “I want to talk about why I’m here, because it’s not because of a new album. It’s because — not that there’s not a new album… but there’s not right now. Chill, chill, chill. No, it’s not right now.”

The trio of Skrillex, Fred Again.., And Four Tet recently all collaborated on the track, “Baby Again..,” which released in March. In addition to Coachella adding them on as replacements for Ocean, the festival also moved Blink-182’s set up on Sunday to accommodate.

Frank Ocean’s Expensive Coachella Ice Skating Rink Was Used After All During Skrillex, Fred Again.., And Four Tet’s Set

The end of Coachella’s second weekend didn’t look how organizers originally planned. After Frank Ocean pulled out of his second performance after an ill-fated first weekend, Blink-182’s set was moved to Sunday (April 23) and Skrillex, Fred Again.., and Four Tet were brought in to follow them and close out the festival.

Ocean scrapping his second performance reportedly cost the festival millions of dollars, but Goldenvoice and the electronic trio made use of one particularly expensive asset.

Last week, Billboard reported the festival was “trying to make the best out of the millions of dollars spent on building a giant ice pad that was supposed to accommodate over 100 skaters during Ocean’s set last Sunday,” and that “the Goldenvoice team is working out how to incorporate it into another yet-to-be determined performance.” Another report from the publication indicated the trio would use the ice skating rink as a satellite stage of the main stage and perform in it.

Indeed, that is what happened: Skrillex, Fred Again.., and Four Tet made a stage (ice-free) out of the ice skating rink and people loved it.

This stage setup allowed fans to surround the performance area, which drew some SpongeBob Squarepants comparisons:

Burna Boy’s Coachella Performance Was Superb, But Fans Can’t Get Over His ASL Interpreter’s Rendition Of His Songs

Burna Boy is a masterful live performer. The “Rollercoaster” musician has had a ton of experience molding his skills, including the NBA All-Star Game Halftime show, Dreamville Fest, Afro Nation, and Coachella. Across the international music star’s discography, he displays the infectious nature of Afrofusion music, pulling inspiration from across the diaspora.

Weaving together his native languages, Yoruba (primarily spoken across West Africa) and English, Burna Boy has amassed a cult-like following. Unfortunately, it seems like his multi-language smash songs aren’t as easily translated when it comes to American Sign Language. But, just as Coachella prides itself on having a lineup of diverse musical acts, the event has also worked to ensure it is just as inclusive for the hard-of-hearing communities.

Festivalgoers felt that the interpreter for Burna Boy’s performance delivered the vibe of his music but not the lyrics. In a video uploaded to social media of the interpreter, fans commended the interpreter on his impeccable dance moves but laughed about him not quite getting the words correctly.

Burna Boy’s interpreter wasn’t the only professional working at Coachella that fans felt nailed the featured entertainer’s vibe. Blackpink, Doechii, Kali Uchis, GloRilla, and Bakar’s interpreters all received love on social media.

Ice Spice & Saweetie Link Up In Icy Girl’s Coachella Photo Dump

Ice Spice just recently locked down one of the most coveted accolades in the rap industry – a Nicki Minaj feature. It’s hard for the 23-year-old to set her sights much higher than that, but fans are speculating that we may hear her and California native Saweetie on a track together in the near future after seeing them link up at Coachella. East and west coast came together during weekend one it seems, as the “My Type” hitmaker posted a throwback photo dump on Sunday (April 23) reflecting on some of her favourite memories from the desert while the final round of performances unfold today.

Saweetie kicked off today’s Instagram post with a stunning shot of her relaxing in the pool, wearing a white bikini while soaking her legs in the clear blue water. Following that, the 29-year-old let her goofy side shine, including a video of her falling on her behind after attempting to slide on white marble floors in her kitchen. After a brief laughing intermission, fans were pleased to see a mirror selfie of the Icy Girl with the Bronx baddie, who performed at Revolve Festival during last weekend’s Coachella events.

Saweetie Gives Fans a Coachella Recap

The fashionista later included an image of her dancing the night away in her dump, as well as videos and photos of more of her entertaining antics. We see her walking around Coachella in an adorable pink blanket and sunglasses late in the evening. Afterward, the post closes out with a telling snapshot of her blonde wig haphazardly thrown on the living room floor.

She may not have been on the line-up for the 2023 festival, but that doesn’t mean Saweetie didn’t take the stage. “Lottery” hitmaker Latto tapped her friend to show out during her weekend one set, much to the audience’s pleasure. “IMMA REAL A$$ TRILL A$$ B!XCH FROM THE WESTTT!” the Grammy-nominated artist captioned a video of her giving the performance of a lifetime. Zendaya Joined Labrinth On Stage At Coachella For A Surprise Euphoric Performance

The bar was set high for Coachella’s second weekend, even though Frank Ocean announced he would be dropping out. Weekend one was filled with notable guest appearances, song debuts, and more. In his closing set, singer and songwriter Labrinth was sure to fire off on all cylinders. After bringing out Billie Eilish for an exceptional performance of their song, “Never Felt So Alone,” last Saturday, April 15, fans were curious how he would one-up himself.

On Saturday, April 22, Labrinth was joined onstage by Zendaya for a surprise Euphoria-centered musical performance. After singing songs “I’m Tired” and “All for Us,” fans of the show were giddy to see the two coming together for this monumental moment to close out his Coachella 2023 appearance.

While Zendaya has become one of the hottest actresses in Hollywood, at one point in her career she was avidly pursuing music, leading to the actress and Labrinth’s initial pairing. Labrinth composed the series’ score and, along with the series creator Sam Levinson, co-wrote both “I’m Tired” and “Elliott’s Song.” Eventually, Zendaya walked away from music due to the “difficulties” she faced behind the scenes.

Zendaya took a moment during her set to thank Labrinth for providing her with the opportunity to perform at the festival, saying, “I cannot express my gratitude enough for this magical night. Thank you to my brother [Labrinth] for inviting me and giving me the most beautiful safe space to be on a stage again…wow…my heart is so full; I can’t thank you enough for the love I received tonight, made all my nerves melt away.”

Kaytranada Brings Out H.E.R., Tinashe & Anderson .Paak At Coachella

Kaytranada brought out H.E.R., Tinashe, and Anderson .Paak for a star-studded Coachella performance on Friday night. With H.E.R., the two performed their collaboration, “Intimidated.” For Tinashe, they handled “The Worst In Me” from Kaytranada’s 2019 album, Bubba. Finally, Anderson .Paak performed “Glowed Up” from 99.9% with Kaytranada.

Fans on social media were ecstatic about the set. “@KAYTRANADA seeing you last night @coachella reminded me when I saw you LIVE @LIVmiami with Abel @theweeknd & The AHTD tour opening as well. It was [fire emojis] you did WONDERFUL !! I have videos but I know they will be removed so yeah I’m not going to post them” one user wrote. Another added: Kaytranada never fails to impress! This Cuff It flip is straight [fire emoji] and reminds me why his set at Coachella is a must-see.”

As for future collaborations, Kaytranada and Aminé will release an album together called Kaytraminé, next month. The project will be the first for Aminé since dropping TwoPointFive back in November 2021. As for Kaytranada, he released Bubba in 2019 although he’s produced music for several other popular artists in the time since, including Ravyn Lenae, Joyce Wrice, and PinkPantheress. He also handled IDK’s 2022 album, Simple.

While Kaytranada’s Coachella performance went over smoothly, not everyone’s appearances have gone so well. Frank Ocean dropped out of his week two performance after fans were upset with his effort at the first go-around. It was later reported that he suffered an ankle injury beforehand and was unable to go through with the set that he had planned. In a statement shared with Rolling Stone afterward, he said: “It was chaotic. There is some beauty in chaos. It isn’t what I intended to show but I did enjoy being out there and I’ll see you soon.” The festival has yet to announce a replacement headliner in Ocean’s stead, although Blink-182 was originally reported to do so.

Bad Bunny Apologized To Harry Styles For Displaying A Shady Tweet During His Coachella Performance

Bad Bunny‘s performance at weekend two of Coachella was even more electrifying than that of the first weekend. During his set last night (April 21), he brought out Latin music legends Grupo Frontero, and Jose Feliciano. He also addressed a controversial tweet that displayed on the screen during his set last week.

During Bad Bunny’s performance at weekend one, a tweet directed at Harry Styles suggested that Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, could perform one of Styles’ hits better than he could, and Styles couldn’t ever perform one of Bad Bunny’s hits.

“goodnight benito could do as it was but harry could never do el apagon,” read the aforementioned tweet.

This was one of the most talked about moments of Coachella last week, as many thought Bad Bunny was purposely throwing shade at Styles.

Last night, Bad Bunny cleared the air by sharing a new message on-screen, apologizing for the mix-up.

“Sorry Harry. It was a mistake from my team. We love you. <3,” read the message.

Perhaps this means a collaboration is in order. After all, Bad Bunny did express that he is a fan of Styles during a special episode of Carpool Karaoke.

Kaytranada Ran Through His Iconic Collaborations With HER, Tinashe, And Anderson .Paak At Coachella

A bad Kaytranada collaboration doesn’t exist. And the prolific DJ and producer has proven that with his star-studded albums 99.9% and Bubba. Last night (April 21), Kaytranada brought out several guests who have given his songs the magic touch over the years.

Early in the set, HER joined Kaytranada in a performance of their collaboration, “Intimidated.”

Shortly after, Tinashe arrived to the stage to perform “The Worst In Me” from Kaytranada’s 2019 album, Bubba. During this performance, Tinashe displayed her signature silky, futuristic vocals, while grooving flawlessly to the beat.

In another surprise, Kaytranada and Anderson. Paak threw it all the way back to 2016 for a performance of “Glowed Up” from 99.9%. As Anderson says on the song’s opening line, this magical pairing between him and Kaytranada proves that there still ain’t a damn thing you can tell them.

This comprehensive set proved that Kaytranada doesn’t miss, and in the coming weeks, he’ll have even more hits in his arsenal.

Next month, Kaytranada and Aminé will release a collaborative album called Kaytraminé.

In the meantime, you can see some clips from the performance above.

Kaytraminé is out 5/12 via CLBN and Kaytranada Music.
