After a rough few weeks of being one of the most-talked-about reality stars in America, Erica Mena felt that the time was right for a vacation. She and some of her closest friends are currently soaking up the sun together, and the former Love & Hip-Hop cast member has been surprisingly active on social media. Seeing as she’s still in hot water for referring to Spice as a “monkey” on Love & Hip-Hop, we assumed Mena might be fixing to take a break from the public eye. However, according to her latest livestream, she’s got plenty of exciting projects in the works, and some ambitious goals for her physical appearance.
While broadcasting to her Instagram followers, the New York native proudly showed off her curvy booty in a string-cut bathing suit. “I better leave here the same colour as Bernice,” she told her company off-camera while floating in the pool. “If I’m not Bernice’s colour, I’m not getting on that plane,” Mena said with a smile, referring to Drake’s former lover, Bernice Burgos.
Of course, it wasn’t long before Mena began to face criticism for aspiring to darken her complexion after insulting a Black woman. Thankfully, there were a few people who came to her defence. “She’s referring to Bernice because they are both of Hispanic/Latina culture. Practically saying how can she hate Black as a skin colour when her nationality produces the same skin colours,” one person inferred on @theneighborhoodtalk’s post.
“Who wouldn’t want to have Bernice’s beautiful colour?” Mena asked when sticking up for herself in @theshaderoom’s comments this afternoon. “Especially on vacation,” she continued. “The fact that I actually do get colour naturally in the sun ALL my life and it’s now being considered as me blackfacing is pathetic.”

Entrepreneur and Instagram model Bernice Burgos has recently sparked dating rumors with NBA player of the Celtics, Jaylen Brown. Bernice hasn’t been tied to anyone since she was spotted with Quavo at NBA All-Star Weekend in 2018. Bernice has also been linked to Drake, saying that he’s “The sweetest person ever.” And if he were to get married right now, she’d show her support with no hesitation. Drake even went as far as rapping about the model in Romeo Santos’ song “Odio,” saying, “And you look like you drawn by an artist. No, you you look like Bernice and Yaris. But both put together, those are some girls that I know from back home.” Are Bernice Burgos and Jaylen Brown dating?
In an interview withThe Breakfast Club, Burgos opens up about herself and how she started to take over her career as an entrepreneur, urban model, and fearless mother from the Bronx. Having her first daughter at age 15, Bernice explains how the experience of having to adjust from a teenage lifestyle to an adult one with demanding needs was difficult because she had to leave behind her time as a teenager to be a mom to a new baby girl, Ashley. Nonetheless, she took on the responsibilities and the two share a close bond to this day. Today, Ashley is 26 years old while Burgos’ youngest daughter, Saria is 16. Raising both children as a single mother, Burgos has been able to exemplify herself as a good role model for her kids, as her work hustle has always been to the grind.
Bernice was first recognized by J. Cole in 2011. He was so taken by the model that he included her as the lead in his music video for his popular song, “Work Out”. Her publicity continued to manifest and her online platform became larger, as her Instagram followers grew in millions. Burgos then made a cameo in Rick Ross’s “Diced Pineapples” video featuring Drake and Wale. She describes the experience as a time when she was able to come out of her shell to become the reflection of who she is today, a strong, beautiful, and successful woman in business. It’s no wonder she’s now treating herself to love, as Burgos is more than deserving of some time on the town.
As of late, Burgos has been seen with NBA player, Jayden Brown. This one seems a bit more serious, as the two were spotted together around Valentine’s Day in 2023. At the time, Celtics player, Brown, was competing in the NBA All-Star game. During his off time, the two were seen hanging out in Atlanta and Boston. Burgos also posted an Instagram video to her 7 million followers of red roses and a romantic dinner date. Though there was no man in the videos or photos, it is clear that the mystery bae is Brown. The two were also pictured cuddling while allegedly on vacation together.
Though fans of the two should be showing support, the age gap between the two has sparked inevitable comments. Being that Burgos is 42 and Brown is 26, they’ve faced backlash from followers via Twitter. Fans took to the internet to joke about Jaylen being a “step-grandfather” to Burgos’ 26-year-old daughter. Comments weren’t all bad though, as people also shared memes in support of the blossoming relationship.
Brown has previously been linked to 28-year-old Instagram model, Jacqueline Hawileh. The two kept their relationship private, even more so than his with Bernice Burgos. However, the two are known to have dated for a decent amount of time.
Aside from Brown’s ex-girlfriend, Hawileh, he hasn’t been linked to many women. Burgos serves as one of the first women that he’s been seen in public with. As of late, Burgos was spotted courtside at Brown’s Celtics game in late 2022. The Celtics are currently first in the NBA Eastern Conference. Making his NBA entrance in 2016, Brown was a third overall pick for the Boston Celtics after one year of playing in college for the California Golden Bears.

As for what’s next for Burgos and Brown— Burgos runs a clothing business called Bold & Beautiful Sleepwear that offers luxury pajama sets and super cute onesies. The styles are usually sold out, so when you come across your size, definitely order yourself a set because her line has nothing but positive reviews. Brown, however, recently defeated his team rival, the Philadelphia 76ers with a 3-pointer in the last 1.3 seconds of the game from teammate, Jason Tatum. Brown, who averages 26.5 points per game, dropped a solid 26 points against their anticipated opponent in the NBA playoffs. The team left with a win of 110-107 after the 76ers’ 3-point buzzer beater from Joel Embiid did not count.
Though there isn’t much information on their relationship, the two have shown nothing but positive support for eachother. From sitting courtside at his games to cuddling on vacation, Burgos has clearly shown deep interest in the NBA basketball player — and likewise for Brown.

Additionally, during All-Star break, Burgos also posted flicks at the beach in swimwear. This would align with the idea that Brown was with her on a tropical vacation. In Feb. 2018, Burgos and Quavo sparked dating rumors when they were seen together at NBA All-Star Weekend. So, it seems that Bernice has developed a pattern for February romances around the All-Star break. While neither side has confirmed a relationship, all the pieces add up for Jaylen Brown and Bernice Burgos to be the last celebrity match.
But, with Burgos being over 15 years older than Brown, users on Twitter have acknowledged and discussed the age gap. One user pointed fun calling Brown a “step-grandfather,” considering Bernice’s 26-year-old daughter Ashley has a daughter of her own. Also, fans pointed out that the entire Boston Celtics team has a roster of attractive patterns.
