Dua Lipa, Bella Hadid, And Mia Khalifa Hit With Death Threats In New Israeli Song

A new Israeli hip-hop duo is making waves with their new song but not for the reasons you’d hope. The duo is called Ness Ve Stilla and their new song is called “Harbu Darbu.” The track takes direct inspiration from the ongoing conflict in Gaza and deploys an unapologetically pro-Israel stance. The song unsurprisingly takes issue with some celebrities who have made pro-Palestine statements publicly. But in a move that probably didn’t help the songs reputation, it names three prominent celebrities directly and even goes as far as to make death threats against them.

Dua Lipa, Bella Hadid, and Mia Khalifa are the three celebs whose names appear in the song. They’ve all made statements supporting Palestine to varying degrees something they faced backlash for from pro-Israeli groups. Ness Ve Stilla’s song is far from underground though, the YouTube video for the track currently sits at more than 18 million views. Khalifa actually addressed the song shortly after it was released in a tweet calling out it’s use of a drill beat. “Y’all that song calling for the IDF to kill me, Bella, and Dua is over a DRILL beat, they can’t even call for genocide in their own culture, they had to colonize something to get it to #1,” her tweet reads. Check out the post and responses to it below.

Dua Lipa And Others Facing Death Threats For Palestine Statements

Last year, Dua Lipa was right at the center of one of the biggest pop culture events of the year. She made her acting debut in Greta Gerwig’s film Barbie. As you’d expect she was also included on the high profile soundtrack. Her song “Dance The Night” from the album turned into a pretty significant hit.

She wasn’t the only one to have a hit song on the soundtrack. Billie Eilish’s hushed ballad “What Was I Made For?” is still in the top 20 of the Hot 100. Additionally, Ice Spice and Nicki Minaj’s “Barbie World” cracked the top 10 of the chart. What do you think about the new pro-Israel rap song that makes death threats at various celebrities? Hadid continued: “Living in this state, worsening with time and work while trying to make myself, my family and the people who support me, proud, had taken a toll on me in ways I can’t really explain. To be that sad and sick with the most blessings/privilege/opportunity/love around me was quite possibly the most confusing thing ever. one thing I want to express to you all is that 1: I am okay and you do not have to worry, [heart emoji] and 2:I wouldn’t change anything for the world. If I had to go through all of this again, to get here, to this exact moment I’m in right now, with all of you, finally healthy, I would do it all again. It made me who I am today.”

From there, she tried to provide motivation for followers dealing with their own struggles. “Take a step away, stay strong, have faith in your path, walk in your truth and the clouds will start to clear up,” she advised. She added that the entire ordeal has given her “perspective on life.”

Fans Still Think The Weeknd Is Playing Bella Hadid Voicemail At Concerts

In the music video for Chromatics’ remix of The Weeknd’s gargantuan hit “Blinding Lights,” the 4:33 mark contains quite the interesting voicemail clip. It goes as follows: “Hey, it’s me,” a female voice says somberly. “I know it’s been a while but I was just thinking about you and I’m sorry about everything.” This is a clip that the Canadian superstar continues to play at his shows before performing the track, with the most recent example being at his Lisbon concert in Portugal. While most believe that the voice belongs to Chromatics’ lead signer Ruth Radelet, many others think it’s actually his ex, Bella Hadid.

Of course, this debate emerged as soon as that remix video dropped, so this speculation is nothing new. Also, it’s worth noting that The Weeknd has never publicly confirmed either theory, although he probably enjoys the mystery. While some wouldn’t put it past the R&B star to leak a private voicemail like that, it still seems like a stretch. Another speculative element of his recent performances is his new silver mask, which many compared to the late legend MF DOOM- and Abel doesn’t mind that comparison at all.

The Weeknd Plays Voicemail At Concert

Just like with the voicemail, though, it’s unclear how much of that is intentional and how much is pure coincidence. It’s been about four years since The Weeknd and Bella Hadid called it quits for the last time, and both have grown a lot since. Furthermore, he might have processed a lot of these emotions and feelings on his 2018 EP, My Dear Melancholy. Back in 2020, the 33-year-old called the project “cathartic” despite refusing to comment on whether it was specifically about Hadid and his other famous ex, Selena Gomez.

Regardless, there’s bigger fish to fry these days for the Dawn FM creative, including his new HBO show “The Idol.” Sure, reviews ranged from excited to less than enthusiastic, but mostly downright negative in a lot of aspects. But he expressed comfort with the backlash, as he mostly cares about the show sparking discussion and portraying the darkness and disgust of the show’s themes within their desired vision. The Weeknd Played An Apology Voicemail At Coachella And Fans Think It’s From Bella Hadid, His Ex

The first weekend of Coachella 2022 has come and go, with The Weeknd and Swedish House Mafia closing things out with their headlining set last night (in place of Kanye West after he pulled out of the fest last-minute). It was quite the way to put a cap on the big weekend, especially since it appears The Weeknd’s set included a nod to Bella Hadid, his ex.

During an outro of “Save Your Tears,” a voicemail could be heard, in which a woman’s voice says, “Hey, it’s me. I know it’s been a while but I was just thinking about you and I’m sorry about everything. I miss you.”

A prominent theory is that the voice in the recording belongs to Hadid:

Hadid and The Weeknd had an on-and-off relationship between 2015 and 2019. It been theorized that even before last night, Hadid was part of the Dawn FM universe, as a lyric on “Here We Go… Again” has been interpreted to be about her: “Your girlfriend’s tryna pair you with somebody more famous / But instead you ended up with someone so basic, faceless / Someone to take your pictures and frame it.”

Check out a clip from The Weeknd’s “Save Your Tears” outro above.
