LeBron James Has These Plans For Anthony Davis

Anthony Davis and LeBron James are a solid dynamic duo that can dominate the league when healthy. Of course, LeBron is much older than Davis, which means that the future of the Lakers franchise is really in AD’s hands. In a couple of years from now, AD could choose to leave, but in the interim, LeBron sees AD as the one who will take over once he retires.

This is something that was relayed by reporter Chris Haynes, who said LeBron is “in his ear about taking over the reins of the team.”

As for Davis’ thoughts on all of this, he is simply taking things day by day. He just wants to do what he can and then ride it out from there.

“All I can do is lead by my actions,” Davis said. “I’m excited for this challenge and what’s ahead. I think we have a great group of guys to get the job done. It’s now about putting in the work.

The Lakers are a team that underperformed last year, and they will be looking to prove themselves in 2022-23. It won’t be easy, but if these two stay healthy, they have a realistic shot at making a playoff run.

Kevin Durant Surprised With Birthday Cake At Nets Practice

Kevin Durant has had some turbulent times with the Brooklyn Nets over the past few months. Back in July, Durant requested a trade from the Nets, although the team was unable to find a proper suitor. Eventually, Durant decided to scrap his request and simply ride it out with his team. After all, he is under contract for four more seasons, which gives the Nets all the leverage.

This week, Durant started training camp with the Nets, and it comes at a very interesting time for Durant. We say that because today marks Durant’s 34th birthday. He is in his 16th NBA season, and he is only a few years younger than his rival, LeBron James.

Despite the issues he’s had with the franchise, they still came through for his birthday as the team gifted KD a birthday cake in the middle of practice. As you can see in the clip below, the cake was wheeled out in front of the whole team, and Durant seemed pretty embarrassed by it all. Regardless, it was a nice little team bonding moment.

Durant and the Nets are looking to turn things around this season, and they have a real opportunity to. Hopefully, Durant can prove doubters wrong as he tries to regain confidence in Kyrie Irving and his new teammate, Ben Simmons.

Matt Barnes Was Reportedly A Victim Of Robert Sarver’s Racism

Robert Sarver is currently in the midst of selling the Phoenix Suns, and there is no doubt that the NBA is not sad to see him go. Just a few weeks ago, he was exposed for sexism and racism in the workplace, including using the N-word on more than one occasion. It is a horrible look for the Suns and the NBA, which is why Sarver is doing the right thing by selling his stake.

Much of Sarver’s racism was covert and done behind the scenes. With that being said, some of his racism has been relayed to those who were victims of it. One such person is none other than Matt Barnes, who spoke about Sarver while being interviewed by VladTV.

Thearon W. Henderson/Getty Images

As you can see in the video clip down below, Barnes was quite adamant that Sarver was always a bad guy. This is something Barnes had known for years and he had been telling everyone that this was the case. For the most part, Barnes wanted to keep it from the public as he had no hard evidence. Now, however, he feels vindicated in a sense as now the whole world knows about Sarver being a bad guy.

With Sarver out of the league, the NBA is a much better place. It is similar to when Donald Sterling was banned just eight years ago.

Hopefully, no more NBA franchises have to go through this.

Lonzo Ball & The Bulls Get Some Positive News

Lonzo Ball has been dealing with a significant knee injury over the past few months. After getting surgery at the beginning of the year, Ball wasn’t able to recover as quickly as he was supposed to. This was a huge concern for the Bulls and it has continued to be one as Lonzo has yet to recover in time for the NBA season.

In fact, Lonzo recently underwent a second knee surgery, and now, he will have to miss even more time. Recently, Lonzo admitted that he is still feeling a lot of pain in his knee and that he can’t even run or jump. This is very upsetting for Bulls fans, and it has even been heartbreaking for his teammates who care deeply about his health.

Now, however, the Bulls are getting some good news pertaining to Ball. As you can see in the tweet down below from Shams Charania, there is a sense that Lonzo will be able to come back this season. While there is no exact timeline for his return to the court, there is a lot of confidence in his ability to play prior to the postseason.

When Lonzo was on the court last season, the Bulls were among the best teams in the entire Eastern Conference. With that being said, the team could use him right now, especially with the East’s continuing momentum.

Anthony Davis Blames Wrist Injury For Poor Shooting Last Season

Anthony Davis had some rough times last season. As many Lakers fans painstakingly remember, he only got to play 40 games, and it ultimately messed with the team’s chemistry. Numerous injuries began to take their toll on the Lakers superstar, and he wasn’t able to be as available as the team wanted him to be.

In addition to this, Davis was struggling to shoot from beyond the arc as he hovered around 18 percent throughout the entire season. This is by no means a good shooting performance, and Davis is well-aware of that. With that being said, Davis chalks it up to a wrist injury that he sustained back in January.

Ronald Martinez/Getty Images

“A lot of people don’t know this but since January I was battling a wrist injury … it was tough for me to shoot how I wanted to shoot,” Davis told reporter Mike Trudell.

The good news here is that Davis is feeling much better and that he will be able to play his game as soon as the season starts a month from now.

Davis has had injury issues over the years, and there is this sense that we could get more of the same this season. Hopefully, this is not the case as the league is a lot more fun when Davis is firing on all cylinders.

Steve Nash Gives His Honest Thoughts On Ben Simmons

Ben Simmons is back on the court as he works out with the Brooklyn Nets amid the start of training camp. This is obviously great news for the Nets who are going to need a healthy Simmons this season if they want to turn the tide and become the team they were supposed to be last season.

Simmons has gotten a chance to show his teammates what he can do, and so far, he has impressed his coach, Steve Nash. While speaking to Nick Friedell of ESPN, Nash had some massive compliments for Simmons, and he even explained how he doesn’t particularly care about his lack of a jump shot.

Maddie Meyer/Getty Images

“Very unique,” Nash said. “That’s what makes Ben great. That’s why I don’t care if he ever shoots a jump shot for the Brooklyn Nets. He’s welcome to, but that is not what makes him special and not what we need. He’s a great complement to our team, and he’s an incredible basketball player because of his versatility.”

It is important for Simmons to get these kinds of co-signs as they will ultimately help his confidence in the long run. He has a lot to prove right now, and this latest endorsement is good news for Nets fans.

Shaq Explains How Jeff Bezos Scared Him Into Not Bidding On The Suns

Shaq is one of the richest men when it comes to retired NBA players. After retiring from the NBA, Shaq went on to participate in various business endeavors that have turned his net worth into upwards of $400 million. His wealth is truly impressive, and when you think about all of the commercials he does, it is easy to see how he ultimately arrived at that number.

These days, Shaq has been contemplating a purchase of the Phoenix Suns. They are currently up for sale and are worth $1.8 billion. On The Big Podcast with Shaq, the former Lakers superstar revealed he wanted to make a bid, but in the end, he chose not to because of Jeff Bezos. Bezos is looking to buy the team, and Shaq doesn’t want to mess with the richest man in the world.

Dave Kotinsky/Getty Images

“I was open [to the idea of purchasing the team] until I saw the initials JB. Let me tell you something, you don’t mess with James Brown, you don’t mess with Jeff Bezos,” Shaq said. “When the boys come on stage, get your a** and go. So, Jeff said he wants it and a couple of other heavy hitters said they want it. I’m not even gonna put my name in the bucket on this one.”

It would be great for the NBA if Shaq could own the team, but for now, he is simply going to hold off. As for Bezos, it still remains to be seen if he will get the team.

Ben Simmons Offers Positive Update On His Nagging Back Injury

Ben Simmons was one of the most scrutinized players in the entire NBA last season. Fans were upset that he wouldn’t play with the Philadelphia 76ers, and they were even more upset when he wasn’t able to make his way to the court while playing for the Nets.

Simmons was suffering from back issues, and after getting surgery five months ago, he is now back on the court and practicing with his teammates. Just a couple of days ago, Simmons could be seen shooting threes, and for the most part, he has been doing very well alongside his Nets teammates.

Yesterday, Simmons provided his fans with a very solid update that should make them excited for the start of the season. As you can see in this report from Kristian Winfield, Simmons believes his back is doing just fine, and that he is actually surprised by how well it has held up since the start of training camp.

“I was surprised today, I got a block. I blocked David Duke. I was shocked,” Simmons said.

This is obviously a good sign for the Nets and hopefully, it means Simmons will play in the first game of the season. If not, then there are going to be droves of Nets fans who will be livid at Simmons, and even the front office for putting up with it all.

LeBron James Snubs Kareem Abdul-Jabbar On All-Time Lakers Starting 5 List

Throughout the decades, numerous amazing players have suited up for the Los Angeles Lakers. In terms of history, they probably have the greatest set of players in the history of the NBA, and if you are a fan of the team, you have lived through some amazing eras of Lakers basketball.

When you throw LeBron into the mix, it is almost impossible to make a Lakers all-time starting five without offending some people. There are too many good players to choose from, and if you leave someone off of the list, you know that there are some Lakers fans who will come after you.

Ethan Miller/Getty Images

According to reporter Peter Dewey, LeBron found this out the hard way as he recently gave his pick for the Lakers’ starting five. As you will see, he left Kareem off of this list, although it seemingly has nothing to do with Abdul-Jabbar’s recent criticisms of LeBron.

“All-time starting five for the Lakers?” James said. “I’m going Magic [Johnson] at 1, Jerry West at the 2, Kobe [Bryant] at the 3, myself at the 4 and Shaq (Shaquille O’Neal) at the 5. I mean Shaq is so dominant, man. I mean, I love Kareem too. I can’t even front on that, but Shaq’s so dominant, we need a big cuz I’m playing the 4, so we need a big. A.D. already put himself in the Top 5? Well put A.D. in, take me out.”

It is hard to bet against LeBron’s starting five, but the exclusion of Kareem might draw some angry cries from the purple and gold fanbase.

LeBron James’ Favorite Player Growing Up May Surprise You

LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers are back at training camp where they are looking to improve upon their disastrous campaign from last season. As we have already reported, all of the Lakers’ players seem to be in good spirits, and they even engaged in a three-point contest which is certainly going to improve everyone’s percentages over the long haul.

It has also been a good time for LeBron and his teammates to talk to the media. They have a lot to discuss right now, and fans of the team want to know what the team’s headspace is right now, especially when you consider all of the dramatic trade rumors from the recent offseason.

Ronald Martinez/Getty Images

Luckily for LeBron, he got to experience some lighthearted media sessions. For example, in the clip below, you can see James doing a rapid-fire interview with some fluffy questions. In fact, one of those questions was “who was your favorite player growing up.”

Many fans would expect LeBron to say the name of a basketball player here. Michael Jordan would certainly come to mind for a lot of fans but in the end, LeBron went in a completely different direction. Instead, he said baseball superstar Ken Griffey Jr., who was a dominant force in his era.

You can’t blame LeBron for going off the board, especially since MJ is played out at as an answer. You have to give LeBron props for being different.
