LeBron James Reacts To Kyrie Irving Trade: “Maybe It’s Me”

LeBron James responded to the news that the Brooklyn Nets are sending Kyrie Irving to the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday. In a Twitter post, James pondered whether he’s to blame for the Lakers’ inability to acquire the eight-time NBA All-Star.

“Maybe It’s Me,” James tweeted. He and Irving previously played together on the Cleveland Cavaliers. There, the two led the team to its first NBA Finals victory in 2016. He’s been vocal about wanting the Lakers to make a move before the trade deadline in recent days.

“That’s a Rob question,” James said Saturday following the Lakers’ 131-126 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans. “You got to see him when y’all get back to L.A. I’ve told y’all a couple weeks, I don’t speak for our front office. My mindset is whatever lineup or whatever group that we have is to make sure we prepare ourselves the best way we can to go out and win. Obviously, that’s a — what’s the word you use — ‘duh’ question when you talk about a player like that.”

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Nets felt the Mavericks’ deal would better position them to win now. The Lakers are believed to have included Russell Westbrook as well as a series of draft picks in their package. In exchange for Irving, the Nets will receive Dorian Finney-Smith, Spencer Dinwiddie, an unprotected 2029 first-round pick as well as second-round picks in 2027 and 2029.

The Lakers are currently 25-29 on the season, leaving them in 13th place in the Western Conference standings. The trade deadline is Thursday. Nets Trading Kyrie Irving To Mavericks: Report

The Brooklyn Nets are trading Kyrie Irving to the Dallas Mavericks, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. The news comes after Irving requested a trade, late last week. In exchange for the eight-time NBA All-Star, the Mavericks will receive Dorian Finney-Smith, Spencer Dinwiddie, an unprotected 2029 first-round pick as well as second-round picks in 2027 and 2029.

The Nets reportedly plan to use the assets they’ll acquire to further improve their immediate roster. The deadline for trades is on Thursday.

Spencer Dinwiddie reacted to news of the trade on Twitter, Sunday, admitting that he learned he was on the move from Shams Charania. “When @ShamsCharania says it’s time to go you pack your bags,” Dinwiddie tweeted.
“Plus Elijah said he wanted to go back home.” Dinwiddie previously played with the Nets for five seasons before an ACL injury in the 2020-21 season.

Irving leaves the Nets after spending a tumultuous four seasons with the organization. During the stretch, Irving missed dozens of games for refusing to get vaccinated against COVID-19. He also faced a suspension for promoting a movie that contained antisemitic themes. Additionally, he’s in the final season of his deal, meaning the Mavs’ will have to work out a new contract with him in the offseason. Irving addressed his decision to request a trade on Twitter, on Friday.

“To my Peers: JUST BE YOURSelf and GROW!,” he wrote at the time. “Keep people around who CELEBRATE YOU unconditionally and appreciates all of the hard work that gets put in. Distance yourself from the folks who manipulate, hate, and hurt.”

Other teams interested in acquiring Kyrie Irving included the Los Angeles Lakers, which would’ve resulted in a reunion between Irving and LeBron James. Like many NBA players, Ben Simmons isn’t just known for his work on the court – his love life also keeps him in the news near-constantly. As you may recall, the 26-year-old was previously engaged to English TV host Maya Jama after a whirlwind romance. Things between them, unfortunately, didn’t end as expected. Recently, the athlete took legal action to have the ring he proposed to his ex with returned.

Upon receiving the demand letter, the brunette beauty’s team says she was shocked, but happy to comply with the request. It remains unclear if she’s been seeing anyone else in between her hosting duties on Love Island. However, we do know that Simmons seems to have moved on. According to Page Six, he was out in New York City with a certain actress earlier this weekend.

The Brooklyn Nets player and 33-year-old Eiza González were photographed in the Big Apple on Friday (February 3). Apparently, they’ve been seeing one another on the low for months. “They’ve been hiding and trying not to get seen [together],” an insider tells the outlet.

During their date night, the rumoured couple were photographed leaving Manhattan’s Bondst restaurant. It’s a high-end sushi place, and the pair are said to have dined alongside “a group of friends.” A source notes that “They weren’t alone [for the dinner], but they are very clearly together.”

The images taken don’t show any PDA between the two, but they allegedly went back to Simmons’ place together afterward. It remains unclear if she spent the night, or how serious the couple considers their union to be at this time. The baller clearly has a type, as he’s been involved with plenty of dark-haired beauties in the past.

He previously dated Kendall Jenner for two years, from 2017 to 2019. Their romance was inconsistent in nature, and the model eventually moved on with Devin Booker, who she’s also no longer with. Yet another starlet who once was seeing Simmons is 333 singer, Tinashe.

“White Men Can’t Jump” Trailer Stars Jack Harlow As Basketball Player Billy Hoyle

Less than a year ago, the news broke that Jack Harlow was cast as the leading man in the forthcoming White Men Can’t Jump reboot. Previously it was Woody Harrelson who brought the beloved character Billy Hoyle to life, but he’s made it clear that he co-signs the rapper as his replacement. Today (February 5), the movie’s first trailer arrived, giving audiences their first look at his big acting debut.

The “WHAT’S POPPIN” stars opposite Sinqua Walls in the reboot. As the preview begins, Skee-lo’s “I Wish” blasts while we’re introduced to the two stars in character. “I probably should have asked this earlier, but how much cash do you have on you?” the Kentucky native asks his friend as they stand in front of a basketball net.

“Did you not bring enough money to cover this game?” Walls’ character responds back, the concern in his eyes evident. “I brought like $80… Minus $60,” Harlow sheepishly admits while two menacing-looking men watch from the side. Elsewhere in the 30-second clip, we see some of the recording artist’s baller skills, which he worked hard to improve upon – specifically at Kawhi Leonard’s request.

So far, Twitter users seem to be mostly optimistic about White Men Can’t Jump. While some obviously still have their doubts, others are eager to see if the 24-year-old could potentially appear in other future projects. “I’m intrigued because I like Jack Harlow,” one person wrote this afternoon. “Script will depict his performance.”

“Sorry, I don’t see the same personality and charisma that Snipes and Harrelson had,” another user argued. “I’ll pass. Hope I’m wrong.” Someone else, still, brought a close friend of the rapper’s into the conversation. “Jack Harlow makes better skits with Druski than that WMCJ trailer,” they quipped.

Apart from the new trailer, things have been relatively quiet on Harlow’s front as of late. In mid-December, sources said that he and Dua Lipa have struck up a romantic relationship after he named a song after her on his sophomore album last year. At the time, the English songstress didn’t seem to reciprocate his interest, but that all may have changed.

Unfortunately, we haven’t heard any updates on their status as a couple lately. LeBron James and Kyrie Irving used to be great teammates on the Cleveland Cavaliers. Of course, Irving eventually left as he wanted to be the captain of his own squad. However, that didn’t go down as planned. Consequently, Kyrie left the Boston Celtics under dubious circumstances. He subsequently signed with the Brooklyn Nets, and the team hasn’t seen peace since. Instead, there has been a wide variety of drama that has included both Kyrie and Kevin Durant. For Nets fans, it has been hell, with a little hope sprinkled in on top.

Today, Kyrie dropped an absolute bomb on the Nets franchise. After a week of contract negotiations, Irving has requested a trade from the team. Now, the Nets can either deal Irving by next week’s deadline, or they can simply let him walk in free agency. No matter what, this is the worst thing the Nets could have asked for. They will now have to make some massive decisions, all while rival teams circle the waters. In fact, the Lakers and the Mavericks are already perking up, ready with packages to offer.

Now, it appears as though none other than LeBron is weighing in on this drama. Although, it is important to note that he didn’t exactly say any real words about the topic. However, sometimes you can simply interpret things based on their timing, and that is exactly what is happening here. Just moments ago, James took to Twitter where he posted the eye emoji and the crown emoji. As you can imagine, fans immediately felt as if LeBron was commenting on the Kyrie situation. Of course, the Lakers are a team that could use Kyrie, and many have been hoping for that trade since the offseason. For now, however, fans simply have to wait.

Kyrie Irving Speaks Amid Trade Request

Today, the NBA got hit with some very shocking news as it was revealed that Kyrie Irving requested a trade out of Brooklyn. Over the past three and a half years, Kyrie and the Nets have had their issues. However, it seemed like things were on the up and up. After all, Irving had recently told the Nets that he wanted a contract extension. Furthermore, he was playing great basketball. With Kevin Durant in the lineup, the Nets have been fantastic. Despite this, it seems like Kyrie simply wants to go somewhere else.

For now, it remains to be seen as to where Kyrie will wind up. So far, journalists like Adrian Wojnarowski have reported that Irving will be pursued by the Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks. Additionally, Irving has already shown a large interest in the Lakers. A LeBron and Kyrie reunion would certainly move the needle for NBA interest. Kyrie Irving has certainly had an interesting tenure with the Brooklyn Nets. Since joining the team back in 2019, Kyrie has had an up-and-down stretch. Overall, he has had to deal with numerous injuries. Additionally, he has had a slew of controversies, including the anti-semitism allegations that got him suspended from the team. Despite all of this, Kyrie has continued to ball out on the court, and it was looking like he and the Nets had reached a new chapter. Donovan Mitchell Roasts Dillon Brooks After Groin Punch

If you are a big fan of Donovan Mitchell, then you are likely very proud of the work he has done in Cleveland. As it stands, Mitchell has turned this team into dark horse NBA Finalists. Overall, he has been one of the best players in the league, and it has led to yet another All-Star appearance. Moreover, he is gaining the respect of fans in Cleveland. That’s a city that has been clamoring for a star since LeBron’s departure, and now, they finally have one.

Last night, Mitchell led the Cavaliers to a huge win against the Memphis Grizzlies. Since the Shannon Sharpe incident, the Grizzlies have been bad, and Mitchell took full advantage. However, it wasn’t without controversy as Mitchell got into a scuffle with Dillon Brooks. This all stemmed from an incident in which Brooks punched Mitchell in the groin. Subsequently, Mitchell and Brooks got into a scuffle that needed an intervention from the officials. Either way, Mitchell got the last laugh as his team secured the victory.

Donovan Mitchell Doesn’t Hold Back

Following the game, Mitchell was given a chance to talk about the fight with Brooks. These two went after each other a lot during Michell’s days in Utah, and he touched on that. Additionally, Mitchell made sure to send some shots Brooks’ way. “Him and I have had our personal battles for years,” Mitchell said. “Quite frankly, I’ve been busting his ass for years.” Overall, it was quite the statement to make, albeit a factual one. It should be noted that Brooks also incited the Sharpe incident. Needless to say, he is someone who is not afraid to get into it with both fans and players alike.

For Brooks, his physicality has ultimately worked in his favor. The fans in Memphis love what he brings to the game, and they are hoping he sticks around for a while. That entire Grizzlies team is filled with gritty players, and that is going to be their identity for the next decade. Players like Mitchell will just have to get used to it, for better or for worse. Over the years, Stephen A. has given his opinion on a whole plethora of topics from around the basketball world. Overall, he knows what he is talking about, even if some fans disagree. Throughout his career, he has been able to talk a whole lot about none other than LeBron James. James is about to hit a huge career milestone, which has ultimately turned him into one of the biggest stories in the sport. Consequently, men like Stephen A. have had to give their opinions on where James ranks amongst the all-time NBA greats.

When you reach a milestone like the all-time scoring record, people are going to herald you. For years, James has been considered a top-two player in NBA history. However, Michael Jordan has continued to stand in his way of NBA supremacy. Even with the scoring title at his fingertips, LeBron is still being seen as second-fiddle to Jordan. While some fans believe this is unfair, others think this is how it should be. After all, Jordan has six titles to his name while LeBron only has four.

Stephen A. Weighs In

On First Take today, Stephen A. was asked whether or not LeBron can do anything to get back into the GOAT conversation. Subsequently, Smith was very firm with his answer. Simply put, he believes that no matter what, Jordan will be the greatest ever. Although, Stephen A. did make sure to note that LeBron is firmly the second-greatest to ever play the sport. Considering how many people have stepped on an NBA court, this is still an amazing honor. However, we’re sure Bron would prefer to be recognized as the best.

In regards to the scoring record, it would appear as though James will be setting the new bar as of next week. This will likely take place on Thursday, against the Milwaukee Bucks. James Harden Reacts To All-Star Snub

James Harden was one of the best scorers in the entire NBA just a few seasons ago. Overall, he was a tour de force with the Houston Rockets. However, since joining the Nets and then the Sixers, he has taken more of a facilitator role. Regardless, he is still an incredibly effective player who is helping the 76ers achieve their goals. As it stands, he averages 21.4 points per game and averages another 11 assists, which leads the entire NBA. Needless to say, one would assume that he would be a lock for another All-Star game.

Harden has made the All-Star game in 10-straight seasons. Although, that streak is officially coming to an end as the All-Star reserves were announced on Thursday night. In the Eastern Conference, the reserves are Joel Embiid, Jaylen Brown, Bam Adebayo, Julius Randle, DeMar DeRozan, Jrue Holiday, and Tyrese Haliburton. Fans immediately noticed that Harden wasn’t present. Subsequently, this led to a ton of discourse on Twitter, with many fans showcasing their discontent.

James Harden Is Not Happy

Additionally, Harden’s fans weren’t the only ones who were upset. Harden himself wasn’t too impressed with the snub. In the tweet above, you can see an Instagram story from Harden in which he states “The disrespect.” Of course, he wasn’t addressing this towards anyone in particular. However, it is extremely clear that he was talking about this bizarre All-Star snub. Were it not for Harden, Joel Embiid would have to carry the Sixers by himself, which is no easy task. Instead, Harden has helped turn this team into a dark horse playoff contender. Should the Celtics and Bucks slip up, the Sixers are right there to snatch the East crown.

Beyond the All-Star game, Harden and the Sixers have much bigger fish to fry. Overall, this team has not gotten past the second round in quite some time. That said, pundits are placing big expectations on this team. Harden has plenty of playoff demons to expel, and if he can lead this team to an NBA Finals, then perhaps voters will have no choice but to make him an All-Star again, in 2024.
