Boosie Badazz Wins $21K Settlement After Suing Florida Nightclub

Boosie Badazz has been on a lucky streak as of late, and fortunately for him, it doesn’t seem to show any signs of slowing down. Earlier this month, he saw a happy ending in his longwinded legal battle over a federal gun charge. A California judge dismissed the case, meaning that he’s finally off the hook. He got emotional about the verdict on Instagram, thanking god and sharing big plans for the future.

Now, he’s won a settlement after suing the Fort Myers, Florida nightclub Celsius. Allegedly, the nightclub played his music without having an ASCAP license. As a result, Boosie is now $21K richer, and his music can no longer be played in the club unless they secure the proper license.

Boosie has yet to comment on this particular case, as he’s surely been distracted by the dismissal of his federal gun charge. After all, it limited his ability to travel, forced him to wear an ankle monitor, and more. Amid the celebration, however, there has been some suspicion surrounding how exactly Boosie got off. Some have even speculated that he “snitched” on someone else in order to walk free. He vehemently denies this and insists that there wasn’t anyone he could have snitched on. He addressed the rumors during a recent interview with VladTV, claiming that they don’t even make sense.

“Four people got caught, I’m the only one that got charged,” he told Vlad with a laugh. “Who the f*ck imma tell on? That sh*t cr*zy.” What do you think of Boosie Badazz winning a $21K settlement after suing a Florida nightclub for playing his music without the proper license? What about all of the legal luck he’s been running into as of late? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

Lil Baby Will Receive A Songwriting Award At The ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Music Awards

The American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers is set to hold its 35th annual ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Music Awards this week and Lil Baby is one of the Society’s big winners. He’s billed to win songwriter of the year — his second such honor in as many years — for a year in which he co-wrote for Drake, Kanye West, and more. Lil Baby’s discography over the past year includes his joint album Voice Of The Heroes with Lil Durk, his Space Jam: A New Legacy soundtrack contribution “We Win” with Kirk Franklin, and two all-new singles with Nicki Minaj, “Bussin” and “Do We Have A Problem?

In addition, Lil Baby has featured on Billboard-charting singles from the likes of DJ Khaled (“Body In Motion” featuring Bryson Tiller and Roddy Ricch), Drake (“Girls Want Girls“), Kanye West (“Hurricane“), Nardo Wick (“Me Or Sum“), and even Ed Sheeran (“2step“). He also appeared on Vince Staples’ “East Point Prayer,” with the Long Beach rapper praising him for doing the feature for free out of respect.

More recently, he kicked off his own new music campaign with the dual-single release “In A Minute” and “Right On,” following up with “Frozen” a few weeks later. He’s set to begin his Rolling Loud-backed One Of Them Ones Tour with Chris Brown next month, and he apparently has a follow-up for his 2020 album My Turn in the works. That should drop sometime this year.

The ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Music Awards take place from today, June 21, through Friday, June 24, with announcements appearing on ASCAP’s social media channels.

Swizz Beatz, Timbaland, And D-Nice Are Set To Receive A 2021 ASCAP Award

Swizz Beatz, Timbaland, and D-Nice made a major impact on the music landscape in 2020, and now their efforts are being recognized: The three will be receiving the ASCAP Voice Of The Culture Award during the 2021 ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Music Awards, for their inventive and uniting virtual music events — namely Verzuz and Club Quarantine — during the COVID-19 lockdowns.

The award celebrates the most-performed R&B/hip-hop, rap, and gospel songs from the previous year. The virtual celebration will be held on June 22 through June 24 via social media. Registration for the virtual chats and other events is available at the ASCAP Experience website.

Timbaland and Swizz Beatz’s Verzuz was the virtual singing competition series that gained instant claim on Instagram Live by pitting musical legends from all genres against each other, including Gladys Knight vs. Patti LaBelle, Erykah Badu vs. Jill Scott, Earth, Wind & Fire vs. the Isley Brothers, Snoop Dogg vs. DMX, and more. The two Grammy-winning producers and label founders created must-see spectacles that brought millions of isolated people together over music.

Similarly, the legendary DJ Derrick “D-Nice” Jones, turned his Instagram Live broadcasts into a virtual dance party with Club Quarantine. D-Nice’s DJ sets were praised as a much-needed respite by millions during the 2020 lockdowns. Even A-listers like Will Smith, Oprah, Michelle Obama, and Diddy tuned in for D-Nice’s heavy rotation of funk, disco, hip-hop, and R&B. D-Nice teamed up with Issa Rae’s Raedio to co-curate the official playlist of the Joe Biden and Kamala Harris inauguration. His full-length studio album is set to arrive later this year.
