Westside Gunn has confirmed that his next album is officially finished. He provided an update on not only new music but his life overall as well in a lengthy post on Instagram on Sunday night. He began by describing the post as a “wellness check” as fans have been worried about how he’s doing.

“ALOOOOOOT of ppl been hitting me in my Dms just making sure I’m good, am I ok mentally/physically bc I haven’t been on the scene like that so I’m just posting this to let y’all know I’m still SUPER FLYGOD everyday!!!!!” he further wrote. “I’m still the best Father I know, I’m still on my 4TH ROPE sh*t, I’m still creating new ideas to attack the culture, I’ve been designing some incredible pieces and Yes I’m done with my new Album, physically as u can see I’m looking better than ever, mentally I think I’m focused more than I’ve ever been and since I lost Bro I look at life totally diff but even more than ever before it’s … F*CK THESE NI$$As LORD!!! LL Cool J Returning With First Album In Over A Decade, Announces New Single

One of hip-hop’s most enduring and long-standing legends is making his return to the studio booth after over ten years of radio silence on the full-length front. Moreover, LL Cool J recently confirmed that his new album is coming this fall, and announced a new single titled “Saturday Night Special” on Friday (June 7). It will come out on June 14, and the New York icon also let fans know that they will get the features, tracklist, and the whole shebang before the LP’s release. Overall, this is pretty exciting for old-school rap fans and LL Stans alike, and for younger generations who haven’t lived through one of his major album cycles.

Furthermore, LL Cool J’s last album was Authentic back in 2013, his 13th studio project that also marked his first since his Def Jam departure. It saw a No. 23 debut on the Billboard 200 albums chart, selling 14,000 album-equivalent units in its first week. It’s been a long time since the “Mama Said Knock You Out” MC was in the headlines primarily for his new music or moves. After all, one of the most prevailing narratives among the newer generation around him is whether he’s better looking than another classic and thirsted-over lyricist: Method Man.

LL Cool J Announces New Music Plans

Jokes aside, this new move from LL Cool J is quite exciting but also very curious given his thoughts on other hip-hop legends coming through with new albums. Well, it seems like this is fine as long as they’re rap-related. For example, he recently voiced his disappointment in André 3000’s ambient/New Age album New Blue Sun due to the fact that the Outkast creative isn’t giving fans what they expect from him. However, this argument was framed as more of a discussion on how 3 Stacks’ talents for lyricism are being squandered, but it’s not that black and white.

Regardless, we look forward to LL Cool J’s new album and hope it brings him a lot of success, fulfillment, satisfaction, and joy on the personal front. We’ll be here to listen and share that joy, just like LL was there to share the godfather of hip-hop, DJ Kool Herc’s, induction in the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. It’s great to see rap of all generations get love in today’s media landscape. It reminds us that we need this balance, and that our greats are always worthy of our praise, attention, and interest.

Ice Spice Announces World Tour In Support Of New Album, “Y2K!”

Ice Spice will be traveling across the globe over the summer in support of her upcoming album, Y2K! She announced the highly-anticipated project, as well as the tour, in posts on Instagram, on Wednesday. She previously shared the singles, “Think U The Sh*t (Fart)” and “Gimmie A Light,” earlier this year.

The Y2K! World Tour will see Spice travel to Switzerland, Belgium, the United Kingdom, and more European stops before returning to North America for shows in Washington D.C., Chicago, Toronto, New York City, and more. The tour kicks off on July 4th in Roskilde, Denmark at the Roskilde Festival. Cash Cobain will be joining her on the road.

Megan discussed what fans can expect from the new project during an interview with L’OFFICIEL earlier this week. “This is music I would like if I wasn’t Megan Thee Stallion. I don’t want to say I’m tapping into other genres. I’m just tapping into other sounds. But it’s still very much Megan Thee Stallion. It won’t feel like I went so left. It’ll feel true to me,” she told the outlet. “You’ll almost be like, ‘I wouldn’t have thought she would’ve rapped over that, but this sounds great.’” Megan will be dropping on June 28.

Nicki Minaj Reveals The Dates For The Second North American Leg Of Her “Pink Friday 2” Tour

Nicki Minaj first revealed the dates for her new Pink Friday 2 tour late last year. It followed the release of the album of the same name, her first in 5 years dating back to Queen. The tour took off in February and has made near nightly news ever since. Rather than taking a variety of opening acts along with her she opted to bring out multiple high-profile guests at almost every stop on the tour so far. She’s already embarked on the European leg of the tour but fans in North America who didn’t get to see her the first time around will have another chance.

Nicki recently announced that there would be a second North American leg of the Pink Friday 2 tour later this year. While she didn’t reveal much of any info about when and where she would be playing, fans didn’t have to wait long for the official announcement. She unveiled 22 new dates beginning in early September and running into October. The tour is scheduled to hit 21 different spots, with an additional second show in Los Angeles. Earlier this week Nicki made headlines for something other than her tour shows. That came when she was arrested in Amsterdam on alleged drug charges. The track’s title is “Rebirth” and it is produced by Rakim. Masta Killa is also featured on the song as well. Vince Staples has announced that he will be releasing his final album with Def Jam, later this week. He shared that the project’s title is Dark Times while reflecting on his experiences with the label in a post on Instagram, on Sunday.

“Eleven years ago, a young, uncertain version of myself was given an opportunity with Def Jam Recordings,” he began. “I released my first project under their banner, Shyne Coldchain Vol 2, a year later. I was unsure of what to expect from the world of music but deeply aware of what I needed: a change in my surroundings and a clear understanding of self. Ten years and seven projects later, I’ve found that clarity. Now, I share with you my final Def Jam release, Dark Times.” He concluded by revealing the project will be dropping on Friday, May 24th.
