SOURCE SPORTS: Could Lindor And Judge Bring The NL And AL MVP Trophies To The Big Apple?

Screenshot 2024 09 13 at 8.40.05 AM

Ever since the Baseball Writers Association of America started casting votes for the Kenesaw Landis AL/NL Most Valuable Player Awards in 1931, the same city has claimed the coveted titles only 12 times, with New York players taking it home over half of those occasions. In 2024, for the first time in almost 70 years, NYC could possibly gloat about having both of the best baseball players in Major League Baseball.

The Big Apple hasn’t welcomed both MVPs home since 1956 when Mickey Mantle won MVP for the AL and Dodgers’ Don Newcombe brought it back to Brooklyn. Only a year prior, Yanks HOF catcher Yogi Berra took the American League trophy. At the same time, Brooklyn’s Roy Campanella won the NL MVP in his last season before he was left paralyzed after a tragic car accident. In ’54, it was Yogi Berra again. Willie Mays (Giants), Berra and Campanella took their first MVPs twin titles in 1951, Joe DiMaggio and Dolph Camilli of the Dodgers won both MVPs a decade earlier(1941), while the Yankees legend Lou Gehrig and NY Giants’ Carl Hubbell were the first to bring both AL and NL Most Valuable Player titles back to NYC in 1936. Lindor and Judge may just have the magic to make it happen here once again.

No one can ignore the wave that the Mets have been riding, given their eight-game winning streak, which locked in their Wild Card spot and those feats would have been unattainable without superstar shortstop Francisco Lindor and his red hot appearances at the plate. The 30-year-old belted nine of his 31 HRs of this season were in those last eight outings, including two in the same game against the Padres with one of those dingers being a grand slam. As the Mets’ ironman, Lindor has not missed a game this season and only missed three games since suffering an oblique injury during his rookie season in 2021. Sure to surpass 30 stolen bags before the end of September, there’s no question why Lindor is a close second in the NL MVP rankings., this year.

Bronx Bombers’ right fielder Aaron Judge has posted unequaled stats this season while helping the Yanks lead the helm in the AL East, including the most home runs in MLB(51), only to be trailed by the number one NL MVP contender, Dodgers’ Shohei Ohtani. #99 has the 3rd highest batting average in the league(.319), only behind Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Royals’ Bobby Witt Jr., who have played more games and had more plate appearances than Judge in 2024. Judge also leads the league in RBIs(126), forcing teams to deliberately attempt to keep him from making contact with the ball, which is why he also leads the league in walks.

As with anything in baseball and life, there is no such thing as a sure thing. Many critics believe that Lindor batting under .300 is a no for an MVP. However, despite the entire baseball world watching Ohtani on his road to 50/50, Lindor’s only MVP competition still hasn’t broken the .300 mark either. Even Judge, with his phenomenal hitting feats, still ties Oakland’s Brent Rooker with the most Ks in the league(156). Additionally, Judge’s bat has been going cold lately, with no HRs in his last 13 games since the Home Run Derby, which has the Yankees’ record split 13-12 in their last 25 games.

SOURCE SPORTS: City Of Gods! NY Yankees’ Aaron Judge and NY Mets’ Francisco Lindor Named As MLB’s Players Of The Week

Screenshot 2024 08 27 at 5.27.37 PM

The Empire State definitely represents in Major League Baseball, as both Players of the Week come from New York teams. The players who were voted as the best of the American and National Leagues should be no surprise to real baseball fans.

Aaron Judge and Francisco Lindor have been named as the American League and National League’s Players of the Week in the last full week of August, which leaves a little more than a month before the Pennant races begin in late September. Judge and the Yankees faced the Detroit Tigers, the Cleveland Guardians, and the Colorado Rockies last week, while the Amazins took on the Orioles and the San Diego Padres. The Mets broke even in their series against San Diego, edging the Padres by one run in both wins, while the Bronx Bombers beat the Rockies 2-1 in their 3-game series and the same results against the O’s.

Individually, both Lindor and Judge have put up phenomenal stats that would easily put them in the MVP conversation of either league. The 6X All-Star maintained a whopping .381 BA this week, with seven homers and 11 RBIs. Mets’ superstar shortstop boasted a .345 batting average last week, with four doubles, 3 HRs, and six RBIs.

This week, the Mets have to take on the NL West’s second-place Diamondbacks and the Chicago White Sox, who currently have the worst win-loss record in MLB. The Bombers have a three-game series against the Washington Nationals, with the Yanks already ahead after yesterday’s 5-2 victory. This weekend, the Yankees begin their series against the NL Central’s third-place Cards.

SOURCE SPORTS: Yankees’ Aaron Judge Becomes Fastest To 300 Homers In MLB History

Screenshot 2024 08 15 at 12.54.58 PM

Yankees slugger Aaron Judge hit his 300th homer, reaching that milestone faster than any other player in the history of Major League Baseball when he connected against the White Sox during a 10-2 victory Wednesday night.

“It’s a great achievement,” he said. “Like I said a couple days ago, I was hoping it would come in a win. It came in a big win for us. We were down for a little bit, couldn’t get much going, so I was just excited it was there in a big moment.”

Judge hit the mark in his 955th game and 3,431st at-bat with a three-run drive in the eighth inning. The six-time All-Star and 2022 American League MVP drove a 3-0 up-and-in sinker from Chad Kuhl into the White Sox bullpen in left for his major league-leading 43rd homer.

The Yankees let loose as the ball cleared the wall, jumping up and raising their arms and banging the dugout railing. After the game, DJ LeMahieu and Austin Wells doused Judge with a tub of water.

“That means a lot,” Judge said. “These guys grind with me every single day. I know the hard work they put in. They see what I do. That was pretty special.”

SOURCE SPORTS: [WATCH] Jazz Chisholm Jr. Blasts 2 HRs Following Yankees Weekend Trade, One With Aaron Judge’s Bat

Screenshot 2024 07 30 at 10.26.11 AM

It didn’t take long for the recent Yankees trade acquisition of former Miami Marlins All-Star Jazz Chisholm Jr. to yield results for the Bronx Bombers when Chisholm belted two homers yesterday against the NL East leaders, the Philadelphia Phillies. The double boomers were Chisholm’s first dingers as a Yankee. Some say the secret is he used Aaron Judge’s bat.

Jazz picked up his first hit and first stolen base as a Yankee on Sunday against the Red Sox just hours after being traded from the Marlins to the Yankees on Saturday. Chisholm hit his first dinger in pinstripes against Phillies Zack Wheeler and hit the second against Garret Stubbs. The latter was belted with some help from Aaron Judge’s bat.

Monday’s homers are his 14th and 15th of the season. He hit .249/.323/.407 with 22 steals in 101 games with the Marlins before the trade.

It should be mentioned Chisholm made his first career start at third base Monday. His two primary positions are second base and center field, but the Yankees are set there with Gleyber Torres and Aaron Judge, so Chisholm is giving third base a try. He started a slick 5-4-3 double play in his first chance at the hot corner.

“I mean, I went out there and played center field for the first time last year and I felt like it was pretty difficult at first,” Chisholm said about playing third base. “But I just feel like I could go and play anywhere and help my team win. For me, it’s just going somewhere — especially a winning team — and they’re asking me to go somewhere to help them win? I’m definitely gonna go out there and do it.”

ESPN Fires Reporter For Insult Caught On Camera

ESPN recently fired reporter Marly Rivera after her actions were directed toward another journalist. The incident occurred earlier this month at Yankee Stadium. Rivera supposedly had a scheduled interview with Yankees star Aaron Judge. However, reporter Ivon Gaete had shown up at the same time, hoping to speak with the Yankees star. According to sources, Rivera grew tired of Gaete looking to speak with Judge. However, that’s when Rivera lashed out, insulting Gaete.

The moment was caught on camera, showing Rivera directing her comments at Gaete. In the video, you can see Judge awkwardly in the middle of the heated exchange with Rivera and Gaete. However, the network reportedly fired Rviera after reviewing the footage of the incident. If Rivera has any defense for her actions, the footage being released doesn’t put her in a great light. To see the video in question, check out the link to TMZ Sports below.

ESPN Fires Marly Rivera

The night of the incident was expected to be a big moment for baseball in New York. Shohei Ohtani and the Los Angeles Angels were in town to face the Yankees. Any chance to see Ohtani and Judge in the same ballpark is a can’t miss for baseball fans. So, everyone wanted a chance to speak with Judge before the big game. However, for Rivera and Gaete, the night quickly turned into a sour moment. In the video, Rivera visibly shows her frustrations in trying to get a few moments with Judge. A bizarre moment that I’m sure Judge would have loved to have been anywhere else.

The Yankees star can be seen at the beginning of the video signing autographs for fans. However, an all-out brawl was ready to break out behind him. While sports journalism can sometimes feel like a cutthroat business. As reporters attempt to be the first source in telling a story. However, now Rivera’s actions have cost her a job and maybe her career. Did ESPN do the right thing in letting Rivera go? Let us know your thoughts on the interaction in our comment section. SOURCE SPORTS: Aaron Judge Surprises 4x Childhood Cancer Survivor Who Received Rare Baseball Card

Aaron Judge Named American League Rookie Of The Year

Mason Ferrulli, a three-time Ependymoma brain and spine cancer survivor, is a great MLB and Aaron Judge fan. Last August, he went viral after discovering a 1-of-1 Topps Diamond Icons Aaron Judge card inside a pack of Topps trading cards. It’s impossible to overestimate the value of his reaction. Mason grew raised in the Bay Area, close to Judge’s childhood home.

The video moved Judge so much that he made plans to meet Mason when the Yankees visited the Oakland Athletics. Judge presented him with an autographed jersey and told him how much of an inspiration he was to not only Judge, but to so many others. He also autographed the one-of-a-kind Topps trading card.

Judge called Mason through FaceTime the day before yesterday to see how he was doing and surprise him with a set of bespoke Topps trading cards. Judge had arranged for a deck of Mason Ferrulli trading cards to be made and delivered to Mason’s family, who assisted him in opening them on camera.

You can see the video Mason posted on Instagram here.
