Gunna’s Eerie ‘Back To The Moon’ Video Promises A Comeback To Beat The Odds

Gunna has a lot to get off his chest. The Atlanta rapper has had a rough year; after spending most of 2022 in jail over the racketeering case against Young Stoner Life Records (or the Young Slime Life gang, depending on whose story you believe), Gunna’s been under fire from hip-hop fans for most of 2023 after accepting an Alford plea in exchange for release with time served.

Taking the deal has gotten him branded a snitch by rap fans (sure, Braden, whatever you say) and some peers but that didn’t stop him from releasing a new album, A Gift & A Curse, featuring songs like “Bread & Butter” and “Back To The Moon.” Today, Gunna dropped a video for the latter, in which he vents about his present circumstances and challenges his critics to walk a mile in his moon boots. It certainly seems unlikely that they can or would.

Gunna spends plenty of the new album addressing the accusations against him, including on “I Was Just Thinking.”

Gunna Drops Space-Inspired Visual For “Back To The Moon”

Gunna has been working hard as of late. Overall, it has been a very rough time for him. Over a year ago, he was arrested as part of the YSL Rico case. However, he was able to get released just a few months ago. This subsequently led to a whole bunch of claims that he snitched on Young Thug. So far, no one has actually been able to prove this. Instead, people have just been piling on all while distancing themselves from him. It has been tough to watch, but still, Gunna persists through the chaos.

In fact, earlier in the week, Gunna announced to his fans that he was dropping an album. This project is called A Gift & A Curse, and it was released just last night. This new project comes with 15 tracks, and in many of them, the rapper can be heard talking about the snitching allegations against him. For the most part, he does a great job of maneuvering through all of this, even if some won’t believe him. If one thing is clear, it is that Gunna has not missed a beat when it comes to rapping.

Gunna With Another Video

Now, Gunna has come through with a music video for his song “Back To The Moon.” As you can imagine, this music video features some space references given the name. In the clip above, you can see how Wunna is on the moon rapping with a blunt in his hand at certain points. This is one of the stronger tracks on the entire album and is further proof that the music world was in need of some new Gunna music.

Whether or not fans will continue to support Gunna, still remains to be seen. Either way, he has made it obvious that he will not be intimidated into quitting. Gunna Announces New Project 'A Gift & A Curse'

Gunna is officially back, dropping off his new project, A Gift & A Curse. With a ton of hype surrounding the YSL Rico Case, whether or not Gunna is a snitch, the quality of the music, and just people seeing what the rapper has to say, could this album be the first to top Billboard for Hip-Hop this year?

The new release has no features. Just Gunna and beats. The release follows “Bread & Butter,” where Gunna dropped off messages to those who think he snitched on Young Thug and more.

On A Gift & A Curse, Gunna once again addresses snitching accusations. On the single “I Was Just Thinking,” Gunna salutes and expresses sympathy for Young Thug.

“That’s four walls talkin’ to you, tellin’ you you gone
Only I done cried, ’cause this feelin’ for my bro (King Slime)
And you know my mind, you done watched that nigga grow
Know you hear the lies, it’s your lil’ brother, my folk
Yeah, I had popped out, but don’t let ’em say I told.”

– Gunna on “I Was Just Thinking”

Overall, the album is 15 tracks long, clocking in at 45 minutes. You can press play on the release below.

Gunna Addressed Snitching Allegations Against Him On ‘I Was Just Thinking’ From ‘A Gift & A Curse’

Earlier this week, Gunna celebrated his 30th birthday by announcing a project called A Gift & A Curse. It was not clear whether this was just a song or a full-blown album; it’s out today, and it’s a 15-track LP.

The rapper touches on some of the trouble he’s been in lately in his raps. He was released from jail in December and many accused Gunna of “snitching” on the remaining YSL defendants, including Young Thug. This is confronted on the track “I Was Just Thinking,” which name-drops Young Thug by referring to him as “King Slime”:

“N****s’ nose all in mine, don’t know how to mind they own
Twenty-three and one, how you feel when you alone?
That’s four walls talkin’ to you, tellin’ you you gone
Only I done cried ‘causе this feelin’ for my bro (King Slime)
And you know my mind, you done watched that n**** grow
Know you hearin’ the lies that your lil’ brother might fold
Yeah, I had popped out, but don’t let ’em say I told
No, I ain’t you lil’ boys, I’ma show you that I’m grown”

Did Gunna Beat The Snitching Narrative? Twitter Reacts To “A Gift & A Curse”

In the past six months, there have been many questions surrounding whether Gunna could reclaim his spot in hip-hop after he took an Alford Plea in the YSL RICO case. Despite attorneys insisting that he didn’t cooperate with authorities, many believed that he wouldn’t be able to salvage his career from the smeared reputation. But, he proved them wrong. With the release of A Gift & A Curse, Gunna’s official comeback album, he made it clear that his talents aren’t bound to his street credibility.

Since his December release, Gunna’s attempted to win back public favor through a number of acts. First, it was a Walmart Christmas giveaway that was eventually nixed. Then, he went to Instagram to pay respect to Lil Keed and show love to Young Thug – each met with backlash from other labelmates and affiliates. A Gift & A Curse has Gunna fighting back against each allegation and defending his name with bangers that will undoubtedly have the summer on lock.

Gunna Addresses Allegations

The reactions have undoubtedly been favorable for Gunna, who many believe is the first rapper to beat snitching allegations. The Atlanta rapper is rapping on A Gift & A Curse with a chip on his shoulder, and it’s clear that it’s connecting. In fact, there are many people who believe this project cemented Gunna as a more talented individual than both Lil Baby and Lil Durk – two people who seemingly turned their back on him following his release.

One song in particular that caught fans’ attention is “i was just thinking,” where he addresses the supposed narrative surrounding his plea deal. Not only does he fire back at his detractors but his throws in a message for Young Thug. “That’s four walls talkin’ to you, tellin’ you you gone/ Only I done criеd, ’cause this feelin’ for my bro (King Slime)/ And you know my mind, you done watched that n***a grow/ Know you hear the lies, it’s your lil’ brother, my folk/ Yeah, I had popped out, but don’t let ’em say I told,” he raps.

Reactions

All in all, fans seem to feel as though Gunna came through with a strong contender for Album Of The Year. Even without the assistance of his frequent collaborator Wheezy, the rapper came through with a consistent body of work that will likely stay in rotation until the end of the year. Check out a few reactions below.

Gunna Takes Aim At Everyone Who Has Called Him A “Rat”

Gunna has been through so much over the last few months. Of course, a lot of this stems from the fact that he was part of the YSL Rico case involving Young Thug. However, a few months ago, the artist was released. This subsequently led to all sorts of discourse over whether or not he snitched. While he has maintained his innocence, this has not stopped people from speculating. Overall, there are a whole bunch of former collaborators who have no interest in working with him again. Although this is unfortunate, Gunna seems to persist.

For instance, earlier this week, he revealed to the world that he would be dropping a new album called a Gift & a Curse. Ultimately, fans were curious about what kind of album we would get. “bread & butter” was a very unique track in which Gunna focused on spitting bars. Now, the album is out and it’s clear that the artist has shifted gears a bit, while still keeping his signature sound. Furthermore, as DJ Akademiks pointed out, Wunna is calling out the people who have criticized him.

Gunna Has A Lot To Say

On the track “rodeo dr,” Gunna raps “I know some n****s locked up in the dungeon that say they feel me like fabric/I know you heard I been pullin’ up pressin’ these n****s who claimin’ I ratted.” On “Paybach,” he offers up similar bars, taking shots at those who switched up yet remain envious of him. Overall, it is clear that he was completely locked in on this album. Fans are still very excited about this new album, and we’re sure the think pieces will be plentiful.

At this point, it is very clear that the fans are back on Gunna’s side. Whether or not his fellow artists support him again, still remains to be seen. Let us know what you think about his new project, in the comments section down below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for more news and updates from around the music world.

Gunna Is “Back At It” In New Album, “a Gift & a Curse”

A few days ago, Gunna took to social media to announce the release of his upcoming project, a Gift & a Curse. In a tweet, he revealed that the record is a personal offering “from Me To You.” This announcement comes after Gunna shared a snippet of unreleased music on his Instagram Story last week. The clip gave fans a taste of what was to come. Earlier this month, he also released the track “Bread & Butter.” The song sparked speculation that he dissed Lil Baby and Lil Durk in the song.

Gunna denied the claims of calling anyone out in the song, stating that he was simply sharing his own story. However, he did address the YSL RICO case in the song. Both Lil Baby and Lil Durk have distanced themselves from Gunna. This comes amid allegations that he cooperated with authorities during Young Thug’s trial. Durk expressed his strong feelings about Gunna’s alleged actions on DJ Akademiks’ Off The Record podcast.” That man told,” Durk said. “You should have went in there and kept your mouth closed.”

Gunna Releases An Album With Zero Features

One of the most noticeable things about the tracklist for Gunna’s new album is that it has zero features. That is almost unheard of in this day and age. However, given the circumstances, it isn’t so surprising. There are likely not many people who would be willing to feature. Although, it seems like he might be able to reach out to 6ix9ine for a remix if he wanted to. Love him or hate him, Gunna is blazing forward and letting the hate slide right off of his back.

“Never gave no statement or agreed to take no stand on ’em,” Gunna raps on “bread & butter.” It appears that he is trying to say that his attorneys did something without his knowledge. In other words, he says that he isn’t a snitch. “Lawyers and the DA did some sneaky sh*t, I fell for it/On my Ps and Qs because, this time, I be prepared for it, yeah,” he says on the track. Given the fact that the hate hasn’t let up since he released the single, it doesn’t seem many people believe him. What do you think of Gunna’s new album? Be sure to sound off in the comments and let us know!

Gunna Teases Unreleased Snippet After Announcing New Album

The release of Gunna’s “bread & butter” proved that the snitching allegations against him didn’t really matter when it came to music. Gunna, who many believe cooperated with authorities in the YSL RICO case, returned to the fold earlier this month with his first post-prison release. The single debuted at #48 on the Billboard Hot 100 — an impressive feat for a rapper shunned by the majority of the hip-hop community. Still, such a stride for his first single strongly indicates that he’s coming for summer 2023.

With his upcoming album, A Gift & A Curse reportedly due out this Friday, the rapper has shared a new snippet of music. On Wednesday night, Gunna shared a new snippet to the ‘Gram to celebrate his birthday. The record finds Gunna bringing his breezy melodious flow to the center and it’s certainly building excitement for what he has in store on his next project. At this point, he hasn’t revealed a title but it seems like we could potentially hear it tonight.

A post shared by DJ Akademiks (@akademiks)

The Atlanta star was arrested last year as part of a sweeping YSL RICO indictment that currently has Young Thug behind bars. After spending months behind bars, he got out ahead of the holidays after copping an Alford Plea. His attorney and other legal experts explained that the deal wouldn’t effect the other co-defendants but still, many felt that he threw Young Thug under the bus when he admitted that YSL was a gang and stated that the guns and drugs found in his car weren’t his.

While people like Boosie and Lil Durk slammed Gunna for copping a plea, the Wunna rapper addressed the backlash on his latest single. “Never gave no statement or agreed to take no stand on ‘em,” he raps in regards to his decision to take a plea. Elsewhere in the song, he seemingly addressed those in the rap community who distanced themselves from him. “You bitch-ass n****s got me as the topic of the chat / You switched on me when you know you in business with a rat / And the boy that’s like your brother, ain’t nobody speak on that,” he continued. Although many felt like it was a shot at Lil Baby, Gunna later denied that was the case. Check out the new snippet from Gunna above.
