Brent Faiyaz Shows Off His Film Buff Side In “JACKIE BROWN” Music Video

Even a year after its release, Brent Faiyaz’s WASTELAND is still in heavy rotation for many R&B fans out there. What’s more is that, with 19 different tracks to choose from, there’s still plenty of space to bring each song to new heights. Moreover, that’s exactly what the Maryland native and his team achieved with this new music video for “JACKIE BROWN.” If you’re a Quentin Tarantino fan, you already know that the song’s lyrics reference the titular character of one of his more underrated films. However, with a beautiful plane vista, it seems like the visual wanted to emphasize that comparison even more.

“The clip channels the aesthetic and spirit of the 1997 Quentin Tarantino classic flick of the same name, as it opens with Brent on a plane,” a press release of Brent Faiyaz’s newest video reads. “After cruising through the clouds, he visits the salon, hits the high seas on a yacht, tries on tailored fits, and enjoys a dinner surrounded by friends. These vibrant vignettes melt into one another, matching his smooth cadence.” Furthermore, through slick editing and a slow-paced but intoxicating vocal performance and instrumental, that melting effect certainly holds true.

Brent Faiyaz’s “JACKIE BROWN”: Watch The Music Video

For example, bubbles from a jacuzzi quickly morph into bubbles from a champagne glass at dinner. While it’s not the most narratively complex video out there, its vibrant and almost regal color palette and presentation makes it pure eye candy for fans of the track. Considering the lyrical themes of life moving fast and treating a woman to luxury, the visuals do a compelling job of representing that. Overall, it’s a nice treat to dive into WASTELAND again if you’re a fan who hasn’t revisited it in some time.

Meanwhile, considering his new creative agency in partnership with UnitedMasters, there’s probably going to be a lot more exciting projects from the 27-year-old coming soon. Sure, a new album will always take precedent, but Faiyaz is clearly an entertainer who thinks larger than that. As such, all we can hope for is that we see his growth with spectacular results. 50 Cent Celebrates 1 Billion YouTube Views

50 Cent is an icon living. The Queens legend hasn’t released a full album since 2014’s Animal Ambition, but fans are still checking for  his classic hits.

50 took to social media on Sunday (January 1) to celebrate making the list of rappers with the most YouTube views in 2022. “I didn’t put nothing out in a while,” he wrote. “I would be mad if I was new and I wasn’t on the list.” 50 Cent made it to number 10 on the list with 1.8 billion views, just above Lil Durk with 1.6 billion views.

Eminem came in at no. 1 on the list with a whopping  5.1 billion YouTube views in 2022. 50 gave Em his flowers in a separate Instagram post. “That’s my boy,” he wrote. In the same post, the Power creator revealed his plans to drop new music in 2023. “I’m gonna remind people I’m nice this year. New music. [and] TV. Let’s go!”

50’s post comes on the heels of his legal battle with Medical Spa owner Angela Kogan heating up. The 47-year old star is suing Kogan for allegedly suggesting that he had penis implants. Kogan stated in recent documents that 50 should be suing The Shade Room instead of her. The Spa owner’s lawyers submitted documents stated that the website posted the photo of Kogan and 50 together alongside an article about penis enlargement surgery.

“The Shade Room is the author of the Article,” Kogan’s lawyers stated. “[They] pulled the Photo from Kogan’s social media without Kogan’s permission or consent. The Shade Room is the publisher of the Article, and Plaintiff has improperly applied the actions of The Shade Room to Defendant.” 50 has yet to respond to the claims. The case is set to head to trial in July 2023.

French Montana, Machine Gun Kelly & More Trend From “Rappers We Need To Leave In 2022” Viral Tweet

Even if some artists are better than others, some social media users are a bit too eager to point that out. French Montana, Machine Gun Kelly, and other rappers trended on social media this week for their inclusion in a viral tweet of “Rappers We Need To Leave In 2022.” As if Megan Fox wanting a girlfriend wasn’t enough, MGK received his fair share of both criticism and defense in the comments. Moreover, Stans and haters argued over whether these rappers deserved a placement.

Also included in the list are Yeat and Jack Harlow, which many people might say is a tad less contested. Still, the list came from tweeter @kiracantmizz and sparked a hefty conversation in the reply threads.

Meanwhile, some fans were incredulous at these placements, because all four artists had notable years. French released his Harry Fraud collab project Montega with a deluxe to boot. Also, his smash hit “Unforgettable” with Swae Lee reached Diamond status this year with 10 million copies sold.

Moreover, Jack Harlow dropped Come Home, The Kids Miss You, which received a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Album. In addition, he had one of the biggest songs of the year in “First Class” and is rumored to be dating Dua Lipa.

However, MGK already has his mate in wife Megan Fox, and he released his mainstream sellout album back in March. Finally, Yeat had an incredible blowout year with his albums 2 Alivë and Lyfë. Also, he released “Rich Minion” for the Minions: The Rise of Gru film, which became a viral sensation, and had a wildly successful tour.

With all this in mind, many users wondered whether they were really all that bad. Nevertheless, it’s fair to say that these artists have unfortunately gotten more hate than others. Some of that hate has been for reasons beyond the music, but when it comes to their art, to each their own.

What do you think of French Montana, Yeat, Machine Gun Kelly, and Jack Harlow being left in 2022? Moreover, are you excited for new music from them in 2023? Whatever the case, let us know in the comments and check out some more reactions down below. Also, as always, check back in with HNHH for more debates around the genre’s biggest artists.
