Moneybagg Yo Inches Closer To A New Project With His Upcoming Single, ‘Motion God’

Moneybagg Yo has been newly revealed as Uproxx‘s April cover star, and he shed light on what can be expected from Hard To Love, his fifth studio album due out later this year.

“I’m more vulnerable on this project than I ever been because of what I went through in the last two years,” Moneybagg Yo said. “I experienced a lot and endured a lot. I went through a lot. So, this album is really personal, but I know the world is going to relate to it because of the stuff I’m saying, the subject matter, I know people going through what I went through across the globe.”

On Wednesday, April 19, the same day his Uproxx cover story dropped, Moneybagg Yo gave fans an even more tangible glimpse into what’s ahead by teasing “Motion God,” his single arriving this Friday, April 21.

“It’s time Hope Y’all Ready,” he captioned a teaser of the presumed “Motion God” video, accompanied by numerous flame emojis. “Album ?/?/23 [looking eyes emoji].”

Moneybagg Yo drops bars such as “in the air, I’m free as a bird” and “diamonds and tattoos cover my scars” in the clip.

“It’s the same process,” the Memphis rapper noted to Uproxx, speaking about his mindset toward music. “Ain’t nothing too much changed with the process. I had just had real personal life situations that threw me off and pushed me back during that time of making this album.”

The details will be in the music once Hard To Love arrives.

What Happened To Gang Starr?

Gang Starr, consisting of members Guru and DJ Premier, was one of the most legendary hip hop duos of the ’90s. Initially, as a part of a larger group at Morehouse College, Guru and DJ Premier officially formed Gang Starr as a duo in 1989. They released their debut album No More Mr. Nice Guy that same year. After relocating to New York, Gang Starr released albums throughout the ’90s. This included 1991’s Step in the Arena, 1992’s Daily Operation, 1994’s Hard to Earn, and 1998’s Moment of Truth, which are widely regarded as some of the greatest hip hop albums of all time. Gang Starr is among the best rap duos ever and the most influential in the sub-genres of jazz-rap and boom-bap. They helped establish the “east coast” sound, considered one of the most authentic styles of hip hop.

Solo Endeavors

Over their 21-year-long run as Gang Starr, Guru and DJ Premier released classic songs like “Mass Appeal,” “DWYCK,” “You Know My Steez,” and “Full Clip,” but also released prolific solo work. During his lifetime, Guru delivered seven studio albums. This also includes four installments of his Jazzmatazz series, where he would collaborate with an array of musicians who provided instrumentation. His debut solo album, Guru’s Jazzmatazz, Vol. 1 (1993), is considered his most iconic solo effort. Guru’s final solo album, Guru 8.0: Lost and Found, was released in 2009.

DJ Premier, on the other hand, continued to produce on some of hip hop’s most monumental albums. Notable works include also KRS-One’s Return of the Boom Bap (1993), Nas’s Illmatic (1994), The Notorious B.I.G.’s Ready To Die (1994), Group Home’s Livin’ Proof (1995), JAY-Z’s Reasonable Doubt (1996), Mos Def’s Black on Both Sides (1999), D’Angelo’s Voodoo (2000), among numerous other classics.

DJ Premier’s consistent output helped establish him as one of the greatest producers. He has also worked outside of hip hop, collaborating with Christina Aguilera, Disclosure, Craig David, and more.

Before Guru sadly passed away from myeloma on April 19, 2010, The Ownerz was released in 2003. It was the final Gang Starr album to be released during his lifetime. He is widely regarded as one of hip hop’s best lyricists and was survived by his family. Although Guru’s death ultimately led to the dissolution of Gang Starr, the group’s legacy has been highly celebrated. Premier and the Gang Starr Foundation, consisting of original Gang Starr members Big Shug, Afu-Ra, Jeru the Damaja, Krumbsnatcha, Bumpy Knuckles, and Group Home also continue to champion Guru’s legacy.

Following Guru’s death, DJ Premier continued to pay tribute to his late friend. Much of this is on almost every project he has been involved with since. This includes his PRhyme collaboration with Royce Da 5’9”, the only group that DJ Premier has been a part of since working with Guru. On 2014’s “U Looz,” Royce also raps that the song is dedicated to the “real hip-hop n****s who never ever ask me, am I here to replace Guru?

The Final Album

In 2016, DJ Premier acquired ownership of Guru’s unreleased music. This led to the making of the final Gang Starr album, One of the Best Yet. It was released in 2019 and was spearheaded by Premier’s artistic vision as he produced the entire album and compiled the verses to make cohesive songs. One of the Best Yet contained unreleased verses from Guru throughout the years. Production for the songs was created around the acapella vocals that Guru recorded during his lifetime. Features on the album included M.O.P., Q-Tip, Group Home, Royce Da 5’9”, Jeru the Damaja, J. Cole, Talib Kweli, Ne-Yo, Nitty Scott, Big Shug, and Freddie Foxxx.

Gang Starr Today

Overall, what ultimately happened to Gang Starr is that their run was cut short by Guru’s untimely passing. For more information about the prolific history of Gang Starr, fans can watch DJ Premier’s web series So Wassup? on YouTube. He discusses the making of some of his biggest hits. This includes reflecting on the era of the floppy disc and analog recording. He also recently released his Hip Hop 50, Vol. 1 EP, which celebrates this year being the 50th anniversary of hip hop. The EP features Joey Bada$$, Remy Ma, Rapsody, Nas, Run The Jewels, Lil Wayne, and Slick Rick.

Will Coachella Weekend 2 Be Livestreamed?

The first weekend of Coachella 2023 produced plenty of buzz. History was made by the likes of Bad Bunny, Blackpink, and even Jai Paul. Billie Eilish and The Weeknd were two of many notable surprise guests. Fans who weren’t able to flock to the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California could livestream it for the first time via feeds across Coachella’s YouTube channel — for free! — except for Frank Ocean’s headlining set on Sunday, April 16.

Ocean will not return to headline on Sunday, April 23, for Coachella’s second weekend because he suffered “two fractures and a sprain in his left leg” in a bicycle accident days before last weekend’s set, as reported by Variety on Wednesday, April 19.

But Weekend 2 will go on, with Blink-182 in Ocean’s headlining spot. Bad Bunny and Blackpink will repeat their respective headlining sets. And at-home fans will be able to livestream again.

As noted by Rolling Stone, “YouTube has set up six different livestream channels for the two weekends, which will all stream different artists at the same time, just like you’re really there at Empire Polo Club in Indio, California.”

The YouTube description of the official teaser for Coachella’s inaugural livestream promises “an unmissable digital Coachella experience including live chat, in-stream shopping, and exclusive Shorts content from your favorite artists and creators.”

You can also set reminders for the separate livestreams dedicated to the Coachella Stage, Outdoor Theatre, Sahara, Mojave, Gobi, and Yuma.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Out For Game 2 Against Miami

Add Giannis Antetokounmpo to the list of big stars dealing with injuries in the NBA Playoffs. Giannis has been officially ruled out for the Milwaukee Bucks Game 2 matchup with the Miami Heat. The Bucks star took a hard fall on his back in Game 1. The fall resulted in Giannis leaving the contest early. However, Giannis tried to return on several occasions. But the pain just became too much for him to manage on the floor. Now the Bucks will need to fight with everything they have to even the series.

However, the Miami Heat are also dealing with the injury bug. Heat sharpshooter Tyler Herro broke his hand in Game One. Resulting in the Heat star being unavailable for the team throughout the playoffs. Unless the Heat were to make it to the NBA Finals. Giannis is just the latest star to be ruled out due to injury. The Memphis Grizzlies are currently playing without star point guard Ja Morant. Morant suffered a hand injury in Game One against the Lakers, resulting in his absence tonight.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Must Return For Bucks Success

After Giannis was unable to return in Game One, the Heat took over and never looked back. The Bucks didn’t look like a team that would even be considered a one-seed in either conference. However, the team has more than likely been preparing for the absence of Giannis. Look for Khris Middleton and Jrue Holiday to lead the Milwaukee offense on Wednesday night. Giannis’ future beyond Wednesday’s game has yet to be announced. However, the Bucks may need to begin planning for a longer absence from the former MVP.

Without Giannis, the Bucks could be the second one-seed to ever lose a series to an eight-seed. The only time it has happened in NBA history was back in 2007. The Golden State Warriors took down the Dallas Mavericks. A series that Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki recently discussed. However, the Bucks will not be trying to be a part of history. Can the Milwaukee Bucks advance without Giannis Antetokounmpo? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section. For the latest NBA news, keep it right here with HNHH.

Wendy Williams Tried To Bury Relapse Reports

Wendy Williams has certainly been on an interesting journey since her show ended. On September 14th of last year, it was reported that the broadcaster Wendy had entered a rehabilitation center. Originally, it was reported that she had entered the center to address substance abuse issues. These issues were supposedly linked to her fallout with the production company Debmar-Mercury. However, Wendy’s spokesperson has contradicted these reports. They said that her treatment was focused on her overall health as she prepared to return to the media with her upcoming podcast, The Wendy Experience.

At the time, her team made a statement about Wendy’s trip to rehab. “She is taking some time to focus on her health and wellness as she prepares for a major comeback for the next level in her career with The Wendy Experience Podcast,”they said. “Ms. Williams is being treated by a team of some of the best doctors in the world. We ask for your prayers and well wishes during this time.” Since then, Wendy has been seen many times out and about in New York City. However, she has not really looked like herself. From stumbling over her words to physical stumbling, the host was looking like she probably needed some help.

Wendy’s Relapse

According to Instagram gossip blog The Jasmine Brand, Wendy has relapsed. There are allegedly insider reports that confirm the story. The insider says that Wendy asked her friends to give her clear alcohol hidden in water bottles. “She was asking for clear liquor to be brought to her in water bottles so no one would suspect it,” said the source. “She would ask, and then call repeatedly to follow up on her request.” This is in direct opposition to claims that Wendy Williams was “better than ever,” which was the story in the headlines once she checked out the rehab facility.

Wendy has also been reportedly filming a reality show recently. Very little information is available on on that front except that she was seen filming near her childhood home in New Jersey. This follows news that the podcast that Wendy’s team had been touting is no longer in production. The reasons for that are unclear. However, if the videos that have been surfacing on social media are any indication, Wendy Williams is not in a good place. What do you think of Wendy’s current situation? Do you believe that she has relapsed? Let us know in the comments!
