Fabolous Shoots Two Straight Air-Balls With $20k For Charity On The line

Fabolous was roasted on Twitter, Saturday night, after air-balling two straight three-point shots to win $20,000 for charity during NBA All-Star Weekend. Fab was joined by Bobby Shmurda to represent Brooklyn during the event.

Speaking with Bleacher Report’s Taylor Brooks, Fab boasted about his ball-playing abilities saying, “I could play. I grew up in Brooklyn, so you had to play hard out there either way.”

Fab was immediately put to the test and asked to shoot a 3-pointer with $20,000 going to the United Negro College Fund on the line. After air-balling two straight attempts, the money was still gifted to the charity.

Bobby Shmurda chipped in by adding an extra $20,000.

Shmurda’s All-Star Weekend appearance comes just weeks after his long-awaited release from prison.

“Thank you for riding this six-year sentence out with me,” he wrote on Instagram after getting out. “I love you all and look forward to seeing you soon. Sincerely, Bod boy Bobby.”

Ahead of the All-Star Game, Shmurda was seen partying in Atlanta with Gucci Mane, something the NBA reportedly tried to crack down on in an effort to follow health and safety guidelines for the coronavirus pandemic.

Derek Chauvin’s Murder Trial For George Floyd’s Death Will Be Televised

The upcoming murder trial for Derek Chauvin, the police officer accused of killing George Floyd last year, will be televised on Court TV, and streamable on Peacock’s Law & Crime. Chauvin was seen in the infamous video kneeling on Floyd’s neck for nine minutes before his death. The horrific killing sparked massive nationwide protests against police brutality and the over funding of police departments.

“This trial is more than just about Derek Chauvin. It is about policing and public safety and how fundamentally flawed it is in the United States,” Minneapolis City Councilman Phillipe Cunningham said.

The trial is scheduled to begin on Monday, March 8th.

John Elder, a public information officer for the Minneapolis Police Department, says the department is preparing for both outcomes in the trial, as protests could erupt as a result.

“We had a great deal of civil unrest last year, and it was a level of violence and unrest that this city has never seen,” Elder said. “In law enforcement, you plan for the worst and hope for the best. We owe it to the residents, businesses, and visitors to have a plan in place.”

Chauvin is being charged with second-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.

Pooh Shiesty Comments On Brother’s Death With Statement On IG

Pooh Shiesty has released a statement reflecting on the loss of his brother, Tee Da P, who died last week after a battle with brain cancer. The comments come after an outpouring of support from the rap community on social media.

“Still wondering where tf that shit come from,” he wrote. “Ig we gotta go out that way we both survived bullets. That shit ain’t strong as us these pussies will never be able [to] take us out. You ain’t get killed or shot I’m going out [the] same way save my spot go find Treday first.”

Earlier in the week, Drake, who just released a three-song EP, sent a message to Shiesty expressing his condolences for the loss. Shiesty shared the voice message on Instagram.

“I just want to send you my condolences, man. You know, and just let you know that, like, the cycle of life is unfair, you know? It just hits us so hard,” Drake said in the message. “Money can’t change that, you know? Something I just went through, too, with one of my friends.”

“Just know that’s something everybody got to witness and I’m sure they’re all just proud of you, the most love for you in their hearts and that’s something I want you to know,” he continued. “In a tough time like this, realize what you’ve been able to accomplish in this short time and what you have in front of you. I’m wishing you strength in these times, man.”

Shiesty was originally scheduled to perform on Saturday, February 27, but canceled the show to spend time with his family.

Donovan Mitchell Reacts To LeBron James’ Comments on Jazz: “I Really Don’t Care”

Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell has responded to LeBron James’ explanation as to why Mitchell and his teammate Rudy Gobert fell to the bottom of the All-Star team draft. Mitchell says that criticism is nothing new.

“I don’t want to be rude but I really don’t care,” Mitchell said, according to Sarah Todd of the Deseret News. “People have been talking shit about me for a while…we’re not doing this to seek the approval of him.”

The Jazz are first in the Western Conference standings this season, causing many to wonder whether leaving the team’s top two players on the board until the final two picks was a slight.

“There’s no slander to the Utah Jazz,” James explained after the draft. “You guys gotta understand, just like in video games growing up, we never played with Utah. Even as great as Karl Malone and John Stockton was, we would never pick those guys in video games. Never.”

Charles Barkley, who was covering the draft for TNT, criticized the lack of support for the Jazz:  “I’m not going for this Utah Jazz slander right now. Come on, man. They got the best record in the NBA, and they two best players are the last two standing. This is slander. This is slander, America.”

The All-Star Game is set to tip-off at 8:00 PM, Sunday.

LeBron James Dodges Question On Getting Vaccinated: “I’ll Keep That To A Private Thing”

Lakers star LeBron James did not confirm or deny whether he plans to get the vaccine when asked by a reporter ahead of Sunday’s controversial All-Star Game. The comments come just days after NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said he expects most players will choose to get vaccinated.

“That’s a conversation my family and I will have. I’ll keep that to a private thing,” James said, according to Mark Medina of USA Today.

Earlier Sunday, it was reported that both Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons had been ruled out of the All-Star Game, after their barber tested positive for COVID-19.

“Ultimately these are personal decisions that players need to make,” Silver said when asked if he plans to require players to get vaccinated. “And yet…. My hunch is that most players ultimately will choose to get vaccinated.”

“The CDC has already announced when you get vaccinated, you don’t need to quarantine as a close contact. As you know, many of our players have had to sit out not because they tested positive but because they were required to quarantine because of a close contact,” Silver said. “In addition, right now as we operate under this so-called work quarantine protocol, where players are largely only going between their homes and the arenas, once they get vaccinated they’ll be able to do more in their communities. That’s something we’ve already begun talking to the Players Association about.”

The All-Star Game is set to tip-off at 8:00 PM, Sunday.

Free-agent forward Blake Griffin, who was released by the Detriot Pistons earlier this week, is expected to sign with the Brooklyn Nets, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania. Griffin is reportedly most interested in pursuing a championship and believes Brooklyn to be the best fit.

“Interested teams have expected Griffin to pursue a championship in Brooklyn alongside Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and James Harden,” Charania confirmed on Twitter, Sunday afternoon.

Griffin was bought out of his contract with Detriot on March 5th, and it was reported that he hoped to end up with the Nets. It appears he will be getting his wish.

The 11-year NBA veteran has been selected to six All-Star teams throughout his tenured career. He most notably found success with the Los Angeles Clippers after being drafted by the organization with the first overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft. After being joined by Chris Paul, the Clippers found success, making it to the playoffs in six straight years. They were infamously unable to make it past the Western Conference Semifinals.

Griffin joined the Pistons in 2018. This season, he averaged 12.3 points on 36.5 percent shooting, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game for the Pistons.
