Meek Mill Reveals Son’s Name & Shares First Picture Of His Face

After keeping his son’s face shielded from the world on social media, Meek Mill has finally posted the first picture of his baby boy ahead of his first birthday. Celebrating his first turn around the sun on Thursday, Meek’s son got a proper reveal on Instagram with the rapper sharing a picture of his face and telling his fans his name.

“Happy bday czar,” he said as his caption, revealing the given name of his baby boy with fashion designer Milan Harris. “Love you tomar your first big day!!!! can’t wait to see you love you!!!”

Amazingly enough, Meek and his son share the same birthday! In the photo, Czar wears a Burberry bucket hat, an open white shirt, ripped denim, and two iced-out chains around his neck. Meek had previously protected his son’s identity by placing emojis over his face or keeping him off social media altogether. In the comments, people are wishing Czar a happy early birthday, telling his rapper dad how cute he looks in the picture.

Meek will surely be spoiling his baby boy with lots of gifts tomorrow. Whatever he gets his son, he has a chance to make that money back pretty quickly. Last night, Meek revealed that he bought $50,000 worth of Dogecoin. The cryptocurrency continues to grow, reaching an all-time high on Tuesday. His investment could end up doubling in the coming months.

Happy early birthday, Czar and Meek!

LeBron James Speaks Out Following Ma’Khia Bryant Tweet Controversy

LeBron James is possibly the most identifiable basketball player of this generation and he doesn’t take the responsibilities that come with it lightly. James has continued to be outspoken about social issues affecting Black and Brown communities across America, even if it causes unnecessary uproar. The Lakers star was subject to scrutiny by right-wing pundits and police officers following the death of 16-year-old Ma’Khia Bryant.

“You’re Next #Accountability,” he wrote on Twitter, hours after Derek Chauvin was read a guilty verdict. Many refused to acknowledge the timely social reference and began accusing the NBA star of inciting violence. A Cincinnati bar owner banned NBA games from being shown at his establishment. The LAPD union demanded that the NBA launch an investigation into James while a Los Angeles police officer condemned his message in an open letter that went viral.

Despite the complaints from authority figures and conservatives, there was little conversation surrounding the death of a 16-year-old girl. James recently took to Twitter where he acknowledged that his tweet ultimately took away from the issue at hand. “I fueled the wrong conversation about Ma’Khia Bryant and I owe it to her and this movement to change it,” he wrote with a link to an article titled “Why they’re not saying Ma’khia Bryant’s name” written by Fabiola Cineas for VOX. “Thank you @fabiolacineas for educating us about Ma’Khia and her story and why this needs to be about her.”

JT Praises Lil Uzi Vert’s Confidence, Says His Next Chapter Will Be “Amazing”

Lil Uzi Vert recently starred alongside Nas and other celebrities in the campaign for the new Heron Preston and Calvin Klein collab. For the promotional materials, Lil Uzi Vert dons a fresh blond hairdo and drinks water while hanging out by a plastic-wrapped sofa, and Nas simply eats an orange while sporting pieces from the collection.

In addition to the initially released pictures from the collaboration, massive ads started popping up in New York City, and shortly thereafter, Lil Uzi Vert took to Instagram to share photos of his Calvin Klein billboard with the caption, “hit em where it hurts.” To celebrate Uzi‘s recent achievements, City Girls rapper JT slid into his comment section and left an inspirational and heartfelt post for her boyfriend and fellow artist.

“I can’t stop saying how proud of you I am, I’m so happy to see your confidence & moves grow by the day…..your next chapter about to be AMAZING,” JT wrote in the comment section underneath Uzi’s latest post, complete with goat and pink heart emojis.

It’s nice to see JT leaving such a loving and motivational comment for Uzi, and it’s also exciting to see the City Girls rapper hint at the next chapter in the Eternal Atake artist’s career. For months, the Philadelphia rapper has been teasing that the title of his next project will be The Real Uzi 2, and mere days ago, he proclaimed that his follow-up to Eternal Atake will be “legendary.”

With JT echoing that sentiment, it’s looking like the next era of Lil Uzi Vert’s career will definitely be one for the books, so stay tuned for updates.

6lack And Westside Boogie Put On For Their Team In LVRN’s ‘RapCaviar Cypher’ Video

Over the past couple of years, LVRN has flown a bit under the radar in terms of labels that also function as rap crews. Where lots of attention is (rightfully) lavished on Dreamville and TDE for their tight-knit groups, Love Renaissance has seemed like more of a loose collective under one banner until recently. That changed last December when the label released its first compilation, which was, incidentally, also a holiday album showcasing the singing talents of its R&B roster. However, it looks like the rap unit is beginning to jell as well, as shown in the LVRN Cypher for Spotify’s RapCaviar.

For the first time, all of the group’s impressively gifted rappers come together on one track. While the better-known members 6lack and Westside Boogie may be the big draws, the track highlights the newbies as well, including OMB Bloodbath, who kicks things off with a breathless verse, BRS Kash, who shows he’s more than the “Throat Baby” crooner, and NoonieVsEverybody, who should increase the team’s trap appeal. The video sees the crew take over what looks like a bank lobby as DJ Kitty Cash spins from the concierge podium and the rappers do their thing in matching maintenance uniforms emblazoned with the LVRN logo.

It took a while for the Avengers to come together; now it looks like rap has a new superteam aiming at taking over, one verse at a time. Meanwhile, the team also released individual videos for each member with extended verses, ensuring even more content to hold fans over for whatever comes next.

MF DOOM’s First Posthumous Album Is A Joint Effort With Czarface, ‘Super What?’

MF DOOM is returning this week — in a way — thanks to Super What?, a joint album with Czarface (Esoteric and Wu-Tang’s Inspectah Deck) releasing this Friday, May 7. The project will be the first posthumous MF DOOM release since his death was announced by his family on New Year’s Eve last year, two months after his passing. The album is a follow-up to the trio’s 2018 effort Czarface Meets Metalface and was recorded and scheduled for release in 2020. Those plans were paused due to COVID-19 but will proceed this month as a tribute to the late, great DOOM.

Super What? is available for pre-order on both CD and vinyl on MFDOOM’s website GasDrawls.com, with a special edition vinyl already sold out (sorry) and a GasDrawls exclusive vinyl still available for the price of two standard editions. The album is accompanied by a comic book written by Czarface MC Esoteric and illustrated by Benjamin Marra. The ten-track tape features guest appearances from Gorillaz’s Del The Funky Homosapien and Run-DMC’s DMC.

DOOM’s passing sparked a renewed interest in the underground icon’s discography, as streams of his old projects leaped nearly 900% in the wake of the announcement of his death and tributes poured in from both collaborators like Open Mike Eagle and admirers such as Playboi Carti. Hopefully, Super What? will satisfy that interest as fans continue to await news on the Madvillainy sequel that was also reportedly in the works.

Super What? is due 5/7. Pre-order it here.

Benny The Butcher Drops Animated Visuals For Chinx Collab “Overall”

Benny The Butcher’s Harry Fraud-produced The Plugs I Met 2 recently dropped in March, continuing the Griselda lyricists’ streak of critical acclaim. And while debate continues to rage surrounding which of the two Plugs projects is superior, Benny has kept momentum for his latest rolling with another new video. This time, he’s coming through with some animated visuals for “Overall,” a collaboration with the late Chinx, whose presence is certainly a welcome addition to The Butcher’s project.

Visually, Creative Clout Design brings Benny, Fraud, and Chinx’s collab to life, capturing their respective likenesses with striking accuracy. It’s a welcome addition to The Butcher’s growing visual canon and one that breaks from tradition with a stylish swerve into new territory. Lyrically, Butcher’s bars are brought to life as he recites them, with depictions of pyrex glasses, luxury whips, and BSF jewelry all present and accounted for. And with Chinx no longer with us, the animated format allows him to live again in a sense, a bittersweet reminder of what the game has been missing since his death.

Check out the new video for “Overall” by Benny, Harry Fraud, and Chinx, right here and now. Are you still keeping The Plugs I Met 2 on steady rotation?

Eminem Drops Off Cinematic “Alfred’s Theme” Lyric Video

Eminem’s a few months removed from the release of Music To Be Murdered By: Side Bhis second album of 2020 and home to countless bars. Evidently, many such bars stem from the project’s third track “Alfred’s Theme,” a near-six-minute lyrical onslaught lined with similes, metaphors, double entendres, and mischievous punchlines. Today, Em came through to deliver an animated lyric video for the lyrically dense track, which pays appropriate homage to the Master of Suspense himself.

Featuring references to Hitchcock’s classic filmography, including Vertigo, The Birds, Pyscho, Rear Window, and more, Eminem’s bars are given additional context through clever visuals. While it might have been the perfect song to merit a full-scale music video, especially given how much fun Em could have reenacting scenes from Hitchcock’s classics, this new lyric video for “Alfred’s Theme” should be enough to keep Shady fans entertained. Between this and the cancel-culture battling “Tone Deaf,” it’s looking like Em is having fun with these lyric videos, understandable given how much attention they place on the bars.

Be sure to check out the new “Alfred’s Theme” video, and sound off if you’ve been keeping Eminem’s Music To Be Murdered By: Side B on steady rotation. If so, which of his songs do you feel would benefit from a similar treatment?

Johnny Depp’s “Blow” Inspiration George Jung Dies At 78

Notorious cocaine smuggler George Jung, who was portrayed by Johnny Depp in the film Blow, has passed away at the age of 78, TMZ reports. Jung died on Wednesday morning at his home in Boston, MA. Sources close to the situation said that Jung was recently suffering from liver and kidney failure, though they did not confirm the cause of death. He was recently placed in hospice care. The tabloid pub reports that his girlfriend Ronda and friend Roger were with him at the time of his death.

On Wednesday morning, a statement was released to his official Twitter account confirming his death. “May the wind always be at your back and the sun upon your face, and the winds of destiny carry you aloft to dance with the stars. 1942-2021,” the tweet reads, pulling a quote from the film Blow.

Dennis Leary, a producer for Blow, paid homage to Jung on Twitter. “The man himself was far more magic than the myth. Truly one of a kind. RIP George Jung. AKA Boston George #ForeverJung,” wrote Leary.

George Jung, or Boston George as he was infamously known as had his life story adapted into the book Blow: How a Small-Town Boy Made $100 Million with the Medellin Cocaine Cartel and Lost It All and later, the 2001 film starring Johnny Depp.

RIP George Jung.
