Juicy J & Rico Nasty Team Up On “Take It”

Juicy J is only a few weeks away from delivering his upcoming album The Hustle Still Continues, which is set to land on June 25th. An updated version of last year’s The Hustle Continues, this second effort features guest appearances from Rico Nasty, Lord Infamous, Pooh Shiesty, Project Pat, and more. Ahead of the big release, J has come through to deliver his new single “TAKE IT,” which features an assist from new generation Mafia disciple Rico Nasty.

Off the bat, it’s clear that Juicy is prioritizing the bounce, with a hard-hitting beat handled by himself and 6ix. It’s exactly the sort of vibe that Juicy helped pioneer alongside his Mafia contemporaries, and hearing him once again slide over such production is immediately nostalgic. Having drawn clear inspiration from Juicy J’s legacy, Rico Nasty feels like a logical counterpart for this one, and her boundless energy and unapologetic delivery is very much appreciated.

Check out the visuals to the no-nonsense club banger now — note that the album version includes a second half, consisting of a posthumous verse from Lord Infamous (check that out right here). Look for Juicy J’s The Hustle Still Continues to land on June 25th — what do you think of this one?

Jeff Bezos Reclaims Spot As Richest Man In The World

Jeff Bezos is once again the richest man in the world after spending two weeks at the number two spot, according to a new report from Forbes. With a shocking net worth of $193.5 billion-dollars, Bezos has moved ahead of LVMH chief Bernard Arnault. Arnault is now listed at $192.9 billion.

The report of Bezos regaining his place as the wealthiest man in the world comes just days after a massive IRS leak published by ProPublica, in which the outlet reveals just how little the business mogul pays in taxes.

Authors Jesse Eisinger, Jeff Ernsthausen and Paul Kiel explain that from the years 2006 to 2018, “Bezos’ wealth increased by $127 billion, according to Forbes, but he reported a total of $6.5 billion in income. The $1.4 billion he paid in personal federal taxes is a massive number — yet it amounts to a 1.1% true tax rate on the rise in his fortune.”

The amount he’s paid in taxes falls in line with other members of the United States’ richest class such as Warren Buffett who paid just 0.1% of his wealth growth in taxes from 2014 to 2018.

Bezos, whose space company Blue Origin is expected to receive a $10 billion bailout as a part of the Endless Frontier Act, has said that he plans on traveling to space himself in July.

Serge Ibaka Out For The Season Following Back Surgery

Serge Ibaka has always been one of the most solid centers in the entire NBA and he is a player that you can depend on in the paint. The Toronto Raptors know all about that as he was instrumental in the team’s huge win against the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals just two years ago. As a result of Ibaka’s success, he was highly sought after in free agency, and in the end, he decided to reunite with Kawhi Leonard in Los Angeles, on the Clippers.

Unfortunately, Ibaka’s first playoffs with the team has been disappointing due to numerous injuries. In fact, Ibaka has missed the last few games with back problems, and today, he received surgery to correct the issue. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, this surgery now means Ibaka is done for the rest of the season.

This is certainly bad news for the Clippers who are currently down 2-0 to the Utah Jazz in the second round of the playoffs. The Clippers need all hands on deck right now and Ibaka’s absence will definitely make it harder to come back in the series.

Stay tuned for more news from around the NBA as we will be sure to keep you informed and up to date.

Hip-Hop Fans Enraged After Controversial “GOATS of Atlanta” Mt. Rushmore Goes Viral

Hip-hop fans were outraged on Twitter, Thursday, when the account MyMixtapez published their own version of Mt. Rushmore, captioned  “G.O.A.T.S. Of Atlanta” which featured Jeezy, Future, Rich Homie Quan, and Lil Baby.

Fans were most angry about the snubs of Outkast, T.I., Young Thug, Ludacris, Gucci Mane, and many more who could’ve made the cut.

“No young thug or outkast? Delete this whole shit,” one fan replied.

Another asked, “So we just gonna forget Outkast, T.I., Luda, shit even Jermaine Dupri?”

The concept of Mt. Rushmore’s in hip-hop is always in the conversation when discussing the best rappers, but Migos recently spoke about why they don’t like Rushmore as a way of ranking artists, after the release of their new album, Culture III.

“They count us out cause we in a group,” Takeoff explained during the group’s interview with The Shade Room.

“Say for instance, they say ‘name your top five rappers,” Offset added. “They really count us out cause we in a group. Just like XXL Freshmen, during the time, we couldn’t be on it cause we was a group, and they don’t do groups. It should be a little circle with all three heads like boom boom boom on that Mt. Rushmore. Cause w done birthed a lot of this.”

“Y’all talking eras,” Quavo explained. “We been it for the last five years. You gotta throw us in there.”

James Harden Comments On Bizarre Saweetie Cash App Rumor

James Harden is one of the best players in the entire NBA and if there is one thing that fans know about him, it’s that he likes to spend some money in the strip club. In fact, Harden has been seen partying at these clubs at various points throughout the pandemic, which has gotten him in trouble with the league. More recently, however, bizarre stories began to surface online that Harden was spending his money in a completely different place. Essentially, these stories claimed that Harden had paid rapper Saweetie $100K just to go on a date.

This story is so salacious in nature that it eventually went viral online, and since then, many have taken to their respective social media platforms to give some commentary. For instance, just hours ago, 50 Cent commented on the matter and seemed very suspicious of Harden’s alleged actions. Now, Harden himself is speaking out about the whole thing, and he is denying every single word of it.

“I’m tired of people creating these fake ass stories knowing I really don’t speak on bullshit,” Harden said. “Leave me out of all the weird shit. Shit trash. Back to my real life. I really stay out the way. Cashapp 100K? Beat it.”

It’s unclear as to where this rumor even came from, as it seems pretty out of the blue, and truly out of the ordinary. Regardless, it was something Harden felt he needed to respond to and it’s nice to have some clarity on the situation.

Migos Reaffirms Their Position As Hip-Hop Stars On Their Assertive Banger, ‘Modern Day’

This week, Migos released their first album in more than three years with Culture III. The project was spearheaded by a trio of strong singles — “Need It,” “Racks 2 Skinny,” and “Straightenin” — that sparked anticipation for a new project that might leave fans a lot more satisfied than they were after the group’s underwhelming 2018 album, Culture II. For the first time in a long time, all signs are pointing upward for the Atlanta rap group.

Quavo, Takeoff, and Offset head out to the island waters for their latest single, “Modern Day.” Migos grab their jetskis and speed through the waters on the confident new track, one that aims to remind listeners of their position as hip-hop stars. “Let’s take a modern-day stroll,” Quavo quips on the song. “This is the modern-day h*e / Last time I checked we was runnin’ the globe.” In the video, they illustrate their big-dollar lifestyle by showing off their luxury cars and throwing a packed house party.

The song arrives after the trio joined HER and DJ Khaled to perform “We Going Crazy” at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards. Prior to that, they announced a fall festival in Las Vegas to celebrate the release of Culture III.

Polo G Defiantly Proclaims There Is ‘No Return’ For Him, The Kid Laroi, Or Lil Durk

Polo G has come a long way from the trenches of Chicago and now, he refuses to go back. That’s the legend behind his defiant Hall Of Fame single “No Return” which features The Kid Laroi and Lil Durk. The video, which centers on an armored truck heist and a chemical lab where Polo and his compatriots craft mysterious blue crystals, sees the three rappers counting stacks and battling their way out of a post-apocalyptic wasteland.

Polo’s new album, which dropped last night, finds him working with a variety of collaborators, including Lil Wayne on “Gang Gang” and Nicki Minaj on “For The Love Of New York,” arrived in the midst of a breakout year for Polo. Not only was he featured on XXL‘s 2020 Freshman cover, but he’s also become an in-demand guest artist as his talents were tapped on Lil Tjay’s “Headshot,” Rod Wave’s “Richer,” and the Boogie soundtrack alongside Pop Smoke on “Fashion.” He also secured his first career No. 1 with “Rapstar.” The success that’s come his way this year has him further than ever on the road to living up to his album’s title.

Gucci Mane And Pooh Shiesty Aim For A Championship In Their ‘Like 34 & 8’ Video

Gucci Mane is releasing his new album Ice Daddy next week and employs his 1017 Records artist Pooh Shiesty on the single, “Like 34 & 8,” as well as the accompanying music video. The video features the two rappers performing their verses wearing some of their chunkiest jewelry while surrounded by boisterous backup dancers dressed as cheerleaders. They also wear “New 1017” jerseys, paying homage to the inspirations behind the song: Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal, who famously wore the numbers when they won their three back-to-back NBA championships for the LA Lakers in 2000-02.

While Gucci and Pooh have indicated some powerful chemistry since the 2020 relaunch of 1017 Records as The New 1017, the last few weeks haven’t been kind to the label’s burgeoning roster of Southern rap stars. It has appeared that Pooh Shiesty really lived the lifestyle he rapped about on songs like “Ugly” and “Lifers,” when Pooh Shiesty was arrested on a charge of aggravated battery after a shooting at King Of Diamonds in Miami. Before that, 1017 artist Foogiano was sentenced to five years in prison after skipping house arrest for a friend’s funeral. It’s been a tough month for Gucci Mane, but overcoming adversity has been his brand for years. He could very well bounce back by Christmas, especially if Ice Daddy performs to the standards he’s set over a decade of consistently fire releases.

Darnella Frazier, Teen Who Filmed George Floyd Murder, Awarded Pulitzer Citation

The Pulitzer Prize Board honored Darnella Frazier, the young woman who recorded the killing of George Floyd with a video that would go on to help convict police officer Derek Chauvin and spark national protests. Frazier was given a special citation on Friday during the award ceremony.

Pulitzer Prize co-chair Mindy Marqués said that “The Floyd story in particular highlighted not only the essential role of journalists, but the increasing importance of ordinary citizens in the quest for truth and justice.”

She added, “We want to note that the board has awarded a special citation to Darnella Frazier, the teenage witness who filmed and posted the transformative video that jolted viewers and spurred protests against police brutality around the world.”

Chauvin was found guilty on all three counts of second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter during his trial in April.

Frazier reflected on the decision to film Floyd’s murder with an Instagram post on the one-year anniversary of his death last month: “Even though this was a traumatic life-changing experience for me, I’m proud of myself. If it weren’t for my video, the world wouldn’t have known the truth. I own that. My video didn’t save George Floyd, but it put his murderer away and off the streets.”
