Chicago Rapper SoloSam Releases New Single “Motorbike Freestyle”

Chicago rapper SoloSam remains one of the most skilled storytellers on the underground scene, showing off his sharp flows over a mid-tempo beat for “Motorbike Freestyle.”

The rapper has been rising up for the last few years, becoming a creative staple in Chicago’s underground rap scene, always putting on for his city. Following the release of his latest single “Traffic Jam,” SoloSam has released his new self-produced “Motorbike Freestyle.” Much as the title suggests, the freestyle lacks a traditional song structure, placing a focus on the verses before introducing a simple hook, which repeats at the end of the record. The young rapper is definitely in his bag though.

SoloSam was previously featured as one of our artists to watch, and he continues to prove us right with each new release. His time is coming.

What do you think of “Motorbike Freestyle?”

Quotable Lyrics:

We are not the same, check the frame, I’m an XL
When I put my spread to the sheet, watch me Excel
N***as cannot breathe in my heat, I just exhale
What it’s like to take an L? Ask how my ex feel

FBG Duck’s Mother Is In Tears After Totaling Car Her Son Gave Her

Emerging Chicago rapper FBG Duck was shot and killed during a drive-by in August 2020 just months after his diss track “Dead B***hes.”

The late King Von originally claimed he and FBG were not at a bad place at the time of his death despite their public, past beef, revealing that the two were “talking bout bringing everybody together as a whole n changing da community for the better,” even though FBG Duck dissed his own “dead homies and family.”

Duck’s rival 600Breezy chose violence, however, when he dropped a teaser for his diss track “Stop Playing,” just a day after FBG Duck’s death, with lyrics suggesting he was anticipating Duck’s murder.

Others in the game suspected Duck would get hit, including Boosie who told Vlad TV he may have jinxed the rapper because he told his nephew he thought Duck could be killed after hearing how hard he went on “Dead B***hes.”  As we reported, Duck’s own mother shared Boosie’s sentiments, believing that his death was in retaliation for the song.

Almost a year after her son’s death, FBG Duck’s mother, LaSheena Weekly lost the last gift she had received from her son. On Tuesday night, Weekly took to Instagram to mourn while she sat in the shock of a car accident that left her car totaled.

The mother sobbed uncontrollably while thanking God for her own safety. Her caption read, “GOD IS GOOD N I WAS NOT DRIVIN N SUM ASSHOLE SPENDING ALMOST HIT US THANK GOD UM OK BUT LOOK AT MY CARRRRRRR ONLY THING I HAD LEFTED DAT MY BABY BROUGHT MEHHHH I SWEAR DUCK I TRIED N I HOPE THE PEOPLE DAT HIT ME OK TOO,” with a dozen crying emojis sprinkled throughout.

Commenters sent LaSheena well wishes along with some of Duck’s friends in the Chicago rap scene including Rapper Big Chris who commented, “ GOT A THOUSAND TOWARDS U A NEW CAR MAMA DONT CRY BE STRONG FOR DUCK WE GOTTA GWT U A CUSTOM MADE DUCK SEATS CAR BABY HEAD UP” and Darrion Da Don who shared, “I’m glad you ok momma cars can be fixed keep your head up.”

Lil Nas X Shares The “Uncensored” Music Video For “Industry Baby”

Months after stirring up controversy and finding himself tied up in a Nike lawsuit with the release of his chart-topping single “MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name),” Lil Nas X has caused just as much chaos as he did earlier this year, with much less effort. This past Friday, the artist who was once known just for his country-rap single “Old Town Road” returned with his latest single, a Take a Daytrip and Kanye West-produced and Jack Harlow-assisted single titled “Industry Baby.”

In April, HNHH wrote that the Atlanta rapper mastered viral success, and Lil Nas X has undoubtedly proved that article right. After dropping “Industry Baby,” Lil Nas has gotten everyone talking, and even if indirectly, he’s been the main focus of several homophobic rants and controversies over the past several days. In response to the shade and hate that he has received from Hip-Hop gatekeepers such as T.I. and Boosie Badazz, Lil Nas X has responded by releasing the “uncensored” version of his “Industry Baby” music video.

Before you get too excited/upset, relax. Lil Nas X’s “INDUSTRY BABY (Uncensored Video)” is merely another well-calculated prank by the internet’s best troll. Contrary to the almost NSFW thumbnail that he shared while announcing the “uncensored” visuals, the actual video is perhaps more PG than the original one. The newly released video starts like normal, and when it comes time for the shower scene around the 0:33-mark, the video begins to buffer.

In true Lil Nas fashion, however, the buffer is intentional, and while the song continues for another 3.5 minutes or so, the video remains fixated on a frozen shower head and rotating gray ring.

Watch Lil Nas X’s “INDUSTRY BABY (Uncensored Video)” below, and sound off in the comments once you realize you’re being trolled.

New Orleans Pelicans Star Arrested & Hospitalized Following Police Altercation

New Orleans Pelicans center Jaxson Hayes has been arrested and hospitalized following an alleged altercation with police earlier today. According to TMZ, law enforcement officers were called into a home in the Los Angeles area early Wednesday morning for a domestic disturbance. When police arrived and attempted to check on the involved parties, Hayes, the 21-year-old player and eighth overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, tried very hard to keep police from entering the premises.

The 6’11”, third-year player for the Pelicans wound up getting combative with authorities and a fight broke out between the two, allegedly intense enough to the point for the officers involved to put out a radio call asking for more officer assistance at the scene. According to further reporting from TMZ, Hayes was also tased by police in the altercation.

Hayes is said to be taken to a nearby hospital for treatment on minor injuries, while an officer involved in the altercation has also sought treatment for injuries sustained during the bout, but the seriousness of their condition is unknown. Hayes has been radio silent since news of the incident broke. If it comes to light that Hayes actually hurt an officer to the point of requiring hospitalization, or if bodycam footage is presented by police, then things might not be looking so good legal-wise for the young NBA player.

The former Texas Longhorn is expected to be booked and charged for felony battery on a police officer as a result of the altercation that took place this morning. Authorities are still in the process of investigating the domestic incident that prompted the initial call, but Hayes’ actions, along with uncooperative parties on both ends, have made the investigation difficult.

We will have more information on the situation as it is made available so be sure to check back soon.

Cousin Of Man Killed In DaBaby Walmart Shooting Speaks Out & Calls Him “A Killer & A Menace”

At only nineteen years old, Jaylin Craig was killed at a North Carolina-area Walmart after an altercation with rapper DaBaby. The rapper has referenced the shooting on multiple occasions in his music, claiming that he fired his weapon in self-defense. Craig was a fan of the rapper, so says his family, and his cousin is speaking out against DaBaby after the recent backlash from his homophobic comments at Rolling Loud.

The “Suge” artist is facing off against cancel culture this week for some unprompted and harmful comments he made against the LGBTQ+ community, also spreading misinformation about HIV and AIDS. The alleged cousin of the man killed in the Walmart shooting figured that now was a perfect opportunity to come out with her story, speaking out in a Twitter thread.

Paras Griffin/Getty Images

Now that so many are apt to cancel him, are we ready to talk about the murder he committed in November 2018? #therewasnorobbery #LLJDC #JusticeforJaylin,” she wrote. “My cousin,Jaylin Craig, was shot and killed by D*B*by on 11/5/2018. He lied and said that Jaylin was trying to rob him and that he shot in self-defense. Shortly after he blew up on the scene and had the nerve to brag about it in his songs.

Da Baby Is A Killer and a Menace. On November 5, 2018, 19-year-old Jaylin Craig had just gotten off work. Jaylin and his friend Henry (known time his family and close friends as “Spanky,”) went to the Walmart store after work that day to buy longjohns. […] As they made their way to the men’s undergarment section, Jaylin and Spanky damn near lost their shit when they caught a glimpse of who they thought was up-and-coming local rapper Da Baby. He hadn’t blown up at that point, but both of the young men were fans of his music and had been following him on social media for some time. Can you imagine the excitement they felt?

They were excited and as they navigated the aisles of the store to buy their wares he crossed paths with them again. But this time, in spite of their genuine, innocent and pure excitement to see him up close, Kirk became agitated. After spewing a few words he assaulted Henry with a punch to the face. A scuffle ensued. Jaylin attempted to diffuse the situation and break up the fight. Kirk’s girlfriend punched Jaylin in the face. While still entangled with Spanky Kirk fired a shot from his illegal and unregistered gun as Jaylin turned to run. Ballistics and physical evidence show that Jaylin was shot in the back/side of his torso while he was trying to flee. One of the detectives who worked the case told the family that this incident was NEVER being investigated as a robbery-gone-bad. Yet the lie that’s been told, recirculated, referenced in rap songs, and adopted as the truth by the masses is that my little cousin was a thug who tried it and got what he deserved. No. NO, it’s quite the opposite.

Not only did Da Baby kill Jaylin, he’s perpetuated a lie that continues to assassinate Jaylin’s character and tarnish his good name. Well, my family and I have had enough.”

Barack Obama Will Join NBA Africa As Strategic Partner & Minority Owner

Former President Barack Obama’s love for basketball is not a secret. The 44th President of the United States routinely played basketball during his two terms in the executive office. A short clip of him draining a silky jump shot while campaigning for now President Joe Biden went viral last fall. He appeared on the ESPN sports documentary The Last Dance to discuss Michael Jordan’s legacy and impact on his hometown of Chicago. Now, he’ll get to take part in official league matters after joining NBA Africa as a strategic partner.

In the video announcement about his new role as a strategic partner, Obama tells a heartfelt story about how much basketball has shaped his life and the lessons he has learned along the way, mentioning how he has met his closest friends on the court and strived to fit in a game whenever possible even when he was busy leading the nation. He cited the energy surrounding the game and the connections it can create around the world as his reasoning for joining NBA Africa, as he wishes to prioritize creating and investing in new opportunities for the young individuals in Africa through NBA Africa and his foundation.

One of the things I’ve always loved about basketball is the fact that it brings people together and empowers young people everywhere. I’m proud to join the team at @NBA_Africa and look forward to seeing the change we can create across the continent,” Obama tweeted regarding joining NBA Africa.

Obama has also mentioned taking an eye-opening trip with Toronto Raptors president of basketball Operations Masai Ujiri to Kenya in 2019 to visit the village where his father grew up, and help open a new basketball court for the community. Through discussions with Adam Silver and other NBA league executives, Obama will partner his foundation with the league to work on creating new opportunities that will benefit multiple countries throughout Africa. He said he is excited to see what the partnership will accomplish for Africa and the eventual difference it will make across the continent and in the world.

What do you think of the former President’s decision to work with the league branch in Africa? Let us know in the comments below.

Johnson & Johnson Sued Over Alleged Carcinogenic Baby Power & Targeting Black Women

Attorney Ben Crump held a press conference on Tuesday morning to announce a new lawsuit against the medical company Johnson & Johnson, for targeting their knowingly-lethal product to Black women. The lawsuit was filed by the Black women’s advocacy group, National Council of Negro Women.

Crump begged Johnson & Johnson to “do the right thing to prevent these deaths, do the right thing to make these women whole,” followed by emotional testimonies from victims and relatives of the victims of the cancer-causing Johnson & Johnson products. One relative whose grandmother had passed away from ovarian cancer spoke about how her grandmother was a loyal customer who passed down the tradition of using Johnson & Johnson products.

Whether J&J is willing to take responsibility on their own or not, Crump is going to be taking the issue to court. The lawsuit obtained by TMZ is loaded with evidence from studies over the decades that prove, time and time again, that talcum and talcum-like particles were cancer-causing, and that the company used strategic marketing to sell to the Black female market specifically, despite this knowledge.

The lawsuit includes examples of such targeting, including allegedly considering Aretha Franklin or Patti LaBelle to become J&J spokeswomen along with “stopping in at churches and salons in predominantly Black communities… and handing out free baby powder samples.”

Crump’s suit seeks justice for the women and their families who were affected by this alleged targeting. In the suit, he asks Johnson & Johnson to publicly take responsibility and develop a plan to track who has been affected by their products and reimburse them for the medical needs they developed as a result of frequent use.

Johnson & Johnson responded by saying all accusations are false, the company would not target a specific group as Crump suggests, and their products do not cause cancer.

The idea that our company would purposefully and systematically target a community with bad intentions is unreasonable and absurd,” the company said. “Johnson’s Baby Powder is safe, and our campaigns are multicultural and inclusive. We firmly stand behind the safety of our product and the ways in which we communicate with our customers,” the company stated.

We will keep you updated as the story develops.
