Jim Jones Wants The Migos (Especially Quavo) To Smile More

Quavo, Offset, and Takeoff are no strangers to controversy. Somehow, the trio that makes up the Migos have lasted the test of time despite their numerous media scandals, including the latest involving Quavo’s breakup with Saweetie.

The former rap royalty couple has been throwing shots at one another online since the weekend, ending things after Saweetie accused Quavo of cheating on her with other women. She made reference to the lavish gifts he would constantly buy her, telling her fans that everything was not as it seemed on the surface. As the Migos continue to tease the release of their next album Culture III, which has been in the works for a few years at this point, the group of rappers posted a new picture outside of their private jet to build hype. In the photo, Takeoff, Quavo, and Offset sit on the loading steps with mean mugs on. Jim Jones took one look at the picture and had to jump into the comments to let the guys know they should smile more often.

“Yal can at least smile all tht money yal got can’t b ice grillin on th jet,” joked the New York rap icon in the comments to the post, which was uploaded to Offset’s account. “Give us a break dammit lol my guys keep killing smile a lil lol.”

The post has been popular given the current narrative surrounding the Migos, who have each been pretty problematic at times. One of the most popular comments is about Quavo, saying, “Quavo got the shades on so no one can see him cry.”

Are you looking forward to hearing some new music from the Migos and do you think that they should lighten up a bit and smile?

MF DOOM & Madlib Were “America’s Most Blunted”

The hip-hop world continues to mourn the loss of MF DOOM, who passed away on October 31st, 2020. Widely hailed as a creative genius and artistic visionary, DOOM left behind an esteemed discography of classic records — including but not exclusive to the Madlib-produced Madvillany, a 2004 project regarded as one of rap’s greatest releases. Considering that the album has officially turned seventeen today, it feels appropriate to highlight one of Madvillany’s singles, “America’s Most Blunted.”

Though Madlib’s in-your-face production might not be something modern audiences are entirely used to, it helped emphasize how truly unique Madvillainy was as a strange and cohesive sonic experience. As an emcee, DOOM seemed to thrive over beats with plenty of character, and though he did dabble masterfully in the abstract, his frank way with words was equally profound. “DOOM nominated for the best rolled L’s,” he boasts, over Madlib’s bombastic beat. “And they wonder how he dealt with stress so well.”

Happy anniversary to MF DOOM and Madlib’s Madvillany, and rest in peace to one of the game’s true originators.

QUOTABLE LYRICS

DOOM nominated for the best rolled L’s
And they wondered how he dealt with stress so well
Wild guess? You could say he stay sedated
Some say buddha-ed, some say faded
Someday pray that he will grow a farm barn full
Recent research show it’s not so darn harmful
Sometimes you might need to detox
It can help you with your rhyme flow and your beat-box

Kanye West Tried To Sign An 18-Year-Old Lil Yachty?

The G.O.O.D Music roster has introduced us to a slew of talent that we may have not known otherwise. A few artists have emerged from the camp that has gone onto be some of the most influential in the game. Artists like Pusha T and Big Sean have cemented their status in the legion of rap’s greats while someone like Teyana Taylor has only shown brief, but potent, glimpses of their brilliance.

As it turns out, the star-roster could’ve included the addition of Lil Yachty. The Atlanta rapper just dropped off a freestyle video over Coi Leray’s “No More Parties” and SpottemGottem’s “BeatBox Freestyle” where he showcased both sides of his sound. However, it was the latter half of the video when he’s freestyling over “BeatBox Freestyle” where he dropped a bombshell revelation of his dealings with Kanye West. Yachty revealed that ‘Ye was once trying to sign him to G.O.O.D Music. “No rearview in my life, leave that shit behind me/ I was only 18 years old when Kanye tried to sign me,” he raps on the song.

Of course, this shouldn’t be entirely surprising since Kanye West did enlist the then-budding star to appear in the Yeezy Season 3 launch at Madison Square Garden for The Life Of Pablo release party.

How do you think Yachty’s career would’ve played out if he had signed to ‘Ye? Sound off in the comments below.

Dwyane Wade Sees Boosie Badazz’s Transphobic Comments About His Daughter As A Teachable Moment

Last year, Boosie Badazz found himself facing backlash for some insensitive and transphobic comments he made about Dwyane Wade’s transgender daughter. Boosie’s remarks not only led to public scrutiny, but it also ended up getting him banned from his local Planet Fitness. Now, nearly a year later, Wade has directly responded to Boosie’s comments, saying that they were able to spark positive and necessary conversations about trans rights.

Wade recently sat down for a lengthy conversation on the I Am Athlete podcast. Throughout the interview, Wade opened up about the effects of toxic masculinity and the strength his daughter, Zaya, showed in coming out as transgender. Wade said that as soon as his daughter came out, he was committed to learning as much as possible about trans rights so that he could facilitate a happy and healthy life for her. The basketball player also addressed all the transphobic comments that were being thrown around after news broke of his daughter’s identity.

Name-dropping Boosie, Wade said the rapper’s comments were a way of bringing important conversations into the limelight: “Boosie, all the people who’ve got something to say about my kids, I thank you because you allow the conversation to keep going forward. You might not have the answer today, I don’t have all the answers, but we’re growing from all these conversations. I thank everybody for even hating and starting those conversations, because those conversations are starting other conversations that we need to have.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Wade described the moment he knew he needed to educate himself about trans rights in order to support his daughter:

“I’m looking at my child, scared to tell me, and I feel like I’m pretty open at this time. I realized that I need to do better, and I need to do more, and I need to educate myself. So what I did is I picked up the phone and I researched as much as I can because I needed to understand. I sat down with my child and I asked questions, because I didn’t know. It’s not our job and responsibility to tell you who you are. You are going to be who you’re going to be. It’s my job to put you in the best position to reach that goal of who you want to be. Right now, we’re experiencing that with Zaya. Last year, we came out and we spoke to the world that, hey, my 13-year-old came home and said, ‘Dad, this is who I am. I am a transgender child.’ We didn’t come out until she was 12, to the world. But the reason why we came out to the world was because I got tired of trying to hide my child. It came to the point where I said, am I hiding her from it, or I am hiding myself from it?”

Lil Durk Previews Lil Baby Collab Snippet

Collab albums are like promises to chill made to an acquaintance met in passing — one has to see it actually manifest in order to believe it.

Countless times have rappers spoken of having “entire albums” with other rappers, though in reality, those albums seldom come to fruition. True, there was that one time in 2017 when collaborative albums flourished like never before, but things have admittedly slowed down since then. Therefore, when Lil Durk and Lil Baby began teasing an upcoming joint project, many met the announcement with cautious optimism.

Now, that optimism appears to be growing, as Durk has been surprisingly open with their snippets. The superstar rapper has taken a moment to share a peek at an upcoming collaboration from the comfort of his car. From the sound of it, the song is one of their signature emotional bangers, a reflection of street life scored to an uptempo and atmospheric instrumental.

Unfortunately, Durk appeared to be parked in a tunnel during his preview session, as his picture and audio quality alike leave something to be desired. Still, the essence sounds promising enough, and given that we’ve now heard an actual snippet, it’s seeming like this collaborative album may actually be coming soon. Check out this new preview below, and sound off if you’re excited to hear a full-length body of work from Lil Baby and Lil Durk.

Lizzo Shuts Downs Relationship Rumors After Viral Mystery Man Photos

Rumors of a possible boo circulated following photos of Lizzo hugged up with a mystery man on a balcony in Malibu on Monday. The “Good As Hell” singer quickly caught wind of the gossip, and dropped a video on Instagram this morning letting everyone know she is indeed still single.

The songstress has been preaching self-care and self-love, and for a second there, it looked like she found love in someone else too. In the photos, Lizzo and the unidentified man in braids and shades were quite cuddly on the balcony.

The pair seemed to be enjoying the beautiful ocean views, and the anonymous man even leaned in for a kiss shortly after. Fans seemed to be excited for her possible romance, leaving lots of love in the comments under the photos. However, the rapper made it very clear that her heart is still up for grabs.

The rap community seems to still want to see her with rapper Bfb Da Packman. Under the photos, PontiacMadeDDG jokes, “She belongs to my boy @bfbdapackman this photoshopped.”

Lil Uzi Vert himself co-signed the “relationship” posting a screenshot of Lizzo and Packman on Instagram live together captioning it “100% here for it. Goat that man,” earlier this month.

The “Truth Hurts” rapper also revealed that Packman has been pulling all the stops to win her heart. For Valentine’s Day, she received a $300 flower arrangement from him and he even learned to play the flute for her.

But to no surprise, Lizzo is moving at her own pace and focusing on herself while dancing around in her bikini on beach getaways.

Check out her declaration of singledom below.

Saweetie Claims She Had “PTSD” After Radio Host Said Her Freestyling Was “Basic”

While they manage to keep up a brave face, even the rich and famous sometimes dwell on certain criticisms a little more than others. When your every move is bound to make headlines one way or another, some things are bound to get under your skin a bit more. For Saweetie, a particular moment in early 2018 when a radio host called her freestyle skills “basic” affected her so badly that it caused her PTSD.

The Bay Area rapper cited the moment as spiraling her into a cycle of crippling self-doubt which in turn brought on her PTSD. “It was a really dark point in my life,” said Saweetie in Cosmopolitan’s April cover interview. “I went from being so loved so quickly because of ‘Icy Girl’ to, on my first promo run, well, you saw the interview. The script flipped really quick, like night and day. I had PTSD from that.”

She confesses she was “literally thrown into” because of the song’s sudden success which led to all the performances and appearances to appease her growing popularity. At the time, social media showed no mercy to the Icy Girl, tearing her apart for her dancing and rapping.

“I’m really grateful for my start,” Saweetie says. “Because the mistakes, the struggle, the grind — it allows me to appreciate the rewards that come now because I know what it feels like to sleep in motels, to drive and do promo, to be stressed out.”

She hopes that one day people will eventually begin to appreciate the hard work she puts into perfecting her craft. “Some of us have it naturally. And some of us don’t…like me. And that’s okay because I know that as long as I work hard, I’ll become one of the best,” she says.
