LeBron James Get $15K Fine Over Sam Cassell-Inspired “Big Balls” Celebration

Immediately after one controversy seemingly ended, another followed. LeBron James has had quite the week as his skills in the paint haven’t been the only thing discussed in the sports world. First, there was the elbow seen ’round the world that caused da ruckus with Isaiah Stewart of the Detroit Pistons. Stewart lost it during the heated moment and continued to charge after James, despite being held back by several officials.

LeBron would go on to call it an accident and Stewart would say otherwise, but the altercation landed both men suspensions. Then, the nail-biting overtime game involving the Los Angeles Lakers and the Indiana Pacers also captivated sports lovers, but it was Bron’s celebratory moment that has result in another penalty from the league.

After scoring a much-needed three-pointer in overtime, LeBron made what many consider to be an inappropriate gesture near his genitals, a la Sam Cassell’s iconic “Big Balls” celebration. It has been something that many NBA players have done throughout their tenures, often knowing that a fine is imminent but taking the chance anyway. While some fans may not believe that it was a big deal, the NBA takes these moments quite seriously and decided to fine the sports giant $15K.

When James was suspended over the Stewart incident, he called the decision “bullsh*t.” The NBA took issue with that, as well, and when they fined him they also issued a warning about “using profane language during media availability in response to league-imposed discipline.”

Ahmaud Arbery Case: Former Brunswick D.A. Jackie Johnson Charged With Obstructing Police

From the onset of this case, former Brunswick Judicial Circuit District Attorney Jackie Johnson faced accusations of showing favoritism to Gregory and Travis McMichael. The father-son pair are two of three people convicted of the murder of Ahmaud Arbery. They, along with associate William “Robbie” Bryan, followed Ahmaud as he was jogging through his neighborhood, chased him down, confronted him on the road, and shot him.

As the public awaits their sentencing, Jackie Johnson turned herself in to authorities earlier this week after being indicted on “a felony charge of violating her oath of office and a misdemeanor count of obstructing police,” reported USA Today.

Johnson previously admitted that she had a personal relationship with the McMichaels considering father Gregory had been employed with the police department. She fell under scrutiny after she failed to initially charge any of the men involved in Ahmaud Arbery’s murder with any crime and in the indictment against her, Johnson is accused of using her position to help them avoid prosecution and arrest.

She has reportedly denied the accusations, although it took months for the men to face charges. Phone records reportedly show that not long after the shooting, Gregory McMichaels called and left Johnson a voicemail. Johnson would later recuse herself from the case. In the next election, she was voted out of office and blamed the controversy for her loss.

“Jackie, this is Greg,” he said, according to a recording of the call included in the public case file. “Could you call me as soon as you possibly can? My son and I have been involved in a shooting and I need some advice right away.”

Johnson was released from jail of her own recognizance. It is unclear what punishment she is facing if convicted.

Boosie Badazz Croons His Way Through “Confessions Of A Thug” From “Mississippi” Album

His online antics often steal the spotlight away from Boosie Badazz’s music, but the Lousiana icon always makes sure to shift the focus back to the studio. He has been a fixture in Hip Hop for decades and in recent years, Boosie has garnered more attention due to his commentary on all things pop culture. Although he has warranted backlash for some of his remarks, his dedicated fanbase stands by his side as they vocalize sprawling support to him.

We recently reported on Boosie dropping Mississippi, one of two back-to-back albums that he promised to share this year. Aside from working on his My Struggle film as well as another feature slated for release sometime around Christmas, Boosie has been grinding out new music regularly. Fans have been praising the 19-track effort, including Boosie singing and rapping his way through “Confessions of a Thug.”

On the track, the rapper details why his thug love with his woman is true blue. Check out it and share your thoughts.

Quotable Lyrics

I’m missing the girl
She missin’ her thug
I sit on the end and we f*ck in the tub
Throw her a bag and she rollin’ it up
Give her some money go let her cut up

Van Lathan Revisits Confronting Kanye West Over “Slavery Is A Choice” Comments

It’s easy to find Kanye West’s criticisms of paparazzi culture in his rhymes, but he has used them to his advantage. The photographers that chase around celebrities are a blessing and a curse for famous figures who want their privacy but also call the paparazzi for exclusive photo opportunities. West has a love-hate relationship with those flashing lights, but he has been known to pop up in the TMZ offices.

Back in 2018, West did just that, but the fiery moment was taken over by Van Lathan, a former employee of the popular celebrity gossip company. The media and podcast host would become a viral sensation all those years ago after he checked West over the rapper’s “slavery was a choice” comments.

Lathan recently sat down with VladTV to take a look back at that moment. Although the splicing of the clip that has circulated shows Lathan seemingly interrupting West, he clarified that Kanye asked the newsroom for a response. “He had said all kinds of crazy things up to that point…well, not crazy. Whatever you believe. His ideas or whatever,” said Lathan.

“I think slavery being a choice is f*cking crazy and disrespectful but he had said all kinds of things and I was like, whatever,” Lathan continued. “He asked. He asked my opinion. He asked the whole room. That was a challenge to me.” West asked the room if he was “thinking freely,” and Lathan jumped in with his answer. “No.”

He added that he understood the point that West was trying to make, but vehemently disagreed. “You cant have them be your example of weakness because to me, they’re an example of strength.” Watch Lathan explain his side of the story below.

Black Teen Baseball Star Leaves School Over Racist Comment From Staff: Report

A star athlete has left his high school in the dust after he alleged he has endured racism on its baseball team. Educators and institutions are becoming more sensitive to the plights of students who report racist incidents with their peers, and Tony Humphrey never thought Iona Prepatory’s assistant athletic director would say something that would make headlines nationwide.

The 16-year-old New York native played baseball for the school and already committed to play for Boston College post-graduation after being recruited. However, his high school plans have taken a detour following an interaction with the assistant athletic director.

“He comes up to me and asked why was I doing track,” said the teen. Being the dedicated athlete that he is, Humphrey told the assistant director that he just wanted to learn how to become faster. “It never hurts to gain speed.” The assistant told him he didn’t need to join another sport to run faster because he “gained that speed by running from the police.”

Humphrey was irate and unimpressed. “That was racist. There was no reason for him to say that,” he said. “I decided to leave, because of my current situation, as I’m already committed. I’m already going to [college]. I don’t feel like I have to stay at a program where they’re going to look at me different, or feel uncomfortable at a place I have to go to Monday through Friday.”

“There were other instances of racism during my freshman year,” he added. “I took it up with the dean, I took it up with the higher-ups, and nothing happened to the other student.” In an act of solidarity, several other students staged a walkout.

Meanwhile, the school declined to release the name of the staff member in question, who has since resigned, but they did reportedly share a letter with parents regarding the incident, reported PIX11 News

A portion of the letter reportedly reads: “Such comments go against the very mission of the school to develop moral and ethical leaders. It is behavior that Iona Preparatory does not condone for its students and will not accept from its faculty and staff.”

Madonna Calls Out Instagram For Deleting Photo Of Exposed Nipple

Her provocative nature is something that has helped propel her career for decades, but in recent years, Madonna’s antics have been a flash on social media rather than cultural moments. The Pop icon has turned heads over her puzzling online diaries about COVID-19 and she caused a stir when she flashed her behind during an interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Earlier this week, Madonna uploaded a series of risqué photos to Instagram showing the 63-year-old topless in fishnet stockings as she posed in—and under—a bed.

The pictures elicited quite the response and even 50 Cent weighed in to say he found it all to be amusing. It seems that Instagram cracked down on Madonna’s pictures because according to the singer, they were deleted without warning. One of the photos showed her bare nipple, so she re-uploaded the images with her breast covered by a heart emoji. Then, Madonna took to her caption to blast the social media platform for forcing censorship.

“The reason they gave my management that does not handle my account was that a small portion of my nipple was exposed,” said Madonna. “It is still astounding to me that we live in a culture that allows every inch of a woman’s body to be shown except a nipple. As if that is the only part of a woman’s anatomy that could be sexualized.”

She went on to say that the nipple is what “nourishes the baby” and argued that men have been able to show theirs off without repercussions. “And what about a woman’s ass which is never censored anywhere,” she said, before being thankful that she has navigated her career “through four decades of censorship…… sexism……ageism and misogyny.”

She even threw in a note about Thanksgiving and the Natives. Check it out below.

GoFundMe Deletes $5Mil Fundraiser For Waukesha Suspect Darrell Brooks Jr.: Report

When it comes to fundraising campaigns for people facing murder charges, GoFundMe has cracked down on raising money. The company has helped tens of thousands of people acquire funds for charitable efforts including families in need, people who plead for help with medical expenses during recovery, or aspiring artists who ask the world to help make their dreams come true.

Yet, we’re seeing more people raise money for people behind bars or public figures like Kyle Rittenhouse and Darrell Brooks Jr. The latter was allegedly behind the wheel when he drove his SUV through the Waukesha, Wisconsin Christmas Parade, killing six and injuring over 60 people.

As Brooks sits in jail on $5 million bail, someone took to GoFundMe to launch a campaign to help Brooks come up with the cash. GoFundMe has come forward with a statement after deleting the campaign and banning the user for violating their Terms of Service.

“Fundraisers with misuse are very rare, and we take all complaints very seriously. Our team works with law enforcement to report issues and assists them in any investigations they deem necessary,” the spokesperson said. GoFundMe has faced off with the public in recent days after they allowed fundraisers on Kyle Rittenhouse’s behalf to be reinstated since he was acquitted of murder charges. Prior to the verdict, they restricted those campaigns because his case was still active.

“If someone is acquitted of those charges, as Rittenhouse was today, a fundraiser started subsequently for their legal defense and other expenses would not violate this policy,” a statement from the company previously read. “A fundraiser to pay lawyers, cover legal expenses or to help with ongoing living expenses for a person acquitted of those charges could remain active as long as we determine it is not in violation of any of our other terms and, for example, the purpose is clearly stated and the correct beneficiary is added to the fundraiser.”

Andrew Yang Praises Chappelle, Calls Reports On Tense H.S. Event “Press Hit Job”

There has reportedly been a wave of controversy surrounding Dave Chappelle’s visit to his Washington, D.C. high school. We previously reported on Chappelle hosting a fundraiser at the Duke Ellington School of the Arts where he graduated from back in 1991. It was reported that a select group of students of the school were upset about Chappelle’s appearance and threatened a walkout due to his remarks made on his hit Netflix comedy special, The Closer.

The fundraiser was reportedly postponed until next Spring and the school even gave a lengthy statement about the controversy, but it seems that Chappelle & Co. decided to go ahead with the event, anyway.

The comedian spoke to the students and reportedly gave away Thanksgiving meals, but many reports noted that there were students who lashed out. Chappelle was reportedly called a “bigot” while on the campus, but Andrew Yang has come to Chappelle’s defense by blaming the press for the poor reports.

Yang is well-known for his bids for the presidency in 2020 as well as the New York City Democratic mayoral primary in 2021. He lost both races. On Twitter, he shared a photo of himself with Chappelle and praised the comedian for his political support.

“I was endorsed by a number of celebrities. Dave Chappelle is the only one who came to Iowa and South Carolina to perform on my behalf – with proceeds going to the campaign – and even made phone calls and hung out with staff. He did it because he wants to help people. Great guy,” Yang tweeted.

“The press hit job on his visiting his high school is awful,” he added. “Successful alum who fundraises for school returns, speaks to students and gives everyone a free meal for Thanksgiving. But of course in 2021 an obvious positive gesture is framed negatively in the media.” However, Yang was hit with backlash of his own—not necessarily for defending Chappelle, but for blaming a “press hit job” for the reports about the comedian’s visit.

Saweetie Claps Back At “SNL” Performance Critics: “I’m Proud Of That Moment”

She is a beauty with a few hits under her belt and now, Saweetie has two Grammy nominations to add to her list of accolades. The Bay Area rapper has been carving out her career for years and she’s determined to give the world the best that she’s got. Her fans have been impatiently awaiting the arrival of Saweetie’s debut studio album Pretty B*tch Music, but she has often spoken about wanting to create the best introductory effort possible.

Even with the accomplishments, the public has not received many of Saweetie’s live performances well. Last weekend, she performed at Power 105.1‘s Powerhouse concert as well as on the Saturday Night Live stage.

A post shared by icy bae (@saweetie)

Of the latter, Saweetie became a trending topic after clips of her SNL performance went viral. People criticized her for allegedly having a lack of breath control, diminished energy during her dance moments, and not enunciating her words while rapping. This is commentary that Saweetie has faced for some time and in a recent interview with Billboard, she addressed the remarks.

“I actually am very proud of the performance. I feel like I’m growing,” Saweetie told the outlet. “I’ve never danced that much during a performance. And I’m open to constructive criticism — however, I would love to see someone do what I do. I would like to see their breath control. So, unless you’re someone who’s been doing this, then I’m open to it.”

That’s like when fans criticize an athlete that plays in the NBA. Y’all not about to make 30 buckets. Y’all not about to do this good of defense. So just enjoy the show and if you believe in who you’re rooting for, you should enjoy the process of their development. One thing about me is I’m such a business, proactive person that I’m not always in artist-mode. Not only am I killing SNL, killing the EMAs, I’m a business woman. So I’m running a company [and] an organization along with trying to balance artist development and other things in my life. I think I’m doing a pretty good job and I know nobody is doing what I’m doing so I’m really proud of that moment.”

“I’m aware of my weaknesses, I’m aware of my strengths. But it’s growth. It’s a process,” Saweetie added. “I would really love for them to do the bar routine. I would love for them to twerk. I would love for them to do all of these intricate dance routines while maintaining their breath, and then we can talk about it.”

Flash Mob Thefts Of Luxury Brand Stores Increases, 9 People Charged: Report

‘Tis the season for family times and holiday shopping, but authorities are warning that there may be an increase in flash robberies. In California alone, there have been several cities hit throughout the Los Angeles County area. Cars filled with thieves have appeared in front of stores before dozens of people brazenly storm a location, grab as much as they can, and drive off into the night.

According to Deadline, Philadelphia’s former commissioner doesn’t believe that these massive flash grabs will slow down because many will see this as a trend.

“This is something now that I really, unfortunately, think is going to spread,” Ramsey reportedly told CNN yesterday (November 25). “Right now it’s in California, but it will spread, there’s no question about it.”

In San Francisco, upwards of 80 people were involved in a massive theft at an outlet. Last week, Burberry and Yves Saint Laurent outlets were also targeted. In Southern California, a Nordstrom in L.A. was hit, and later, several people robbed a mall in Canoga Park. Ramsey believes that other cities are going to see an uptick in robberies such as these as the holidays approach.

At least nine people have been arrested and charged but luxury stores nationwide are told to be on their toes. It’s estimated that the Bay Area wave of thefts has totaled over $1 million in lost merchandise. Check it out below.
