Kyle Kuzma & Dennis Schroder Reportedly Had Beef During Lakers Season

This offseason is going to be a very interesting one for the Los Angeles Lakers and they will have to make some big decisions regarding their role players. Guys like Dennis Schroder are up for new contracts while other players like Kyle Kuzma could very well end up as part of a trade package for other stars. There is no telling what the Lakers will do, although there are some rumors that they want to look at guys like Chris Paul, Russell Westbrook, and maybe even Damian Lillard if he becomes available.

As for Schroder and Kuzma, some new information has surfaced that could very well prove to be a factor when the Lakers go to make their offseason moves.

According to Jordan Schultz of ESPN, Kuzma and Schroder had a longstanding feud throughout the entire season and never really got along. Eventually, things got infinitely worse during the first round of the NBA playoffs as the Lakers lost to the Phoenix Suns in six games. With AD out of the lineup, Kuzma and Schroder needed to do more on offense and the chemistry just simply wasn’t there.

This is news that the Lakers are probably already well-aware of, and with the draft just a few weeks away, there is no doubt the team will be taking every little detail into consideration.

Stay tuned to HNHH as we will continue to bring you all of the latest updates from around the NBA.

Kanye West Commands A Crowd Without Saying A Word: “DONDA” Listening Event

Kanye West has performed from atop a 50-foot high mountain. He has surfed over crowds while rocking out on a levitating stage. Ye even had Madison Square Garden jumping more than the New York Knicks ever did throughout the latter half of the 2010s, and he was just playing music from his laptop. The man with arguably one of the best discographies in Hip-Hop is as much of a performance artist as he is a recording artist or fashion designer. In 2021, everyone is fully aware that Kanye is an expert at keeping fans on their toes, so when thousands of his staunchest supporters piled into the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on Thursday and didn’t see a stage, the conspiracy theories started quicker than a DaBaby verse.

The colossal stadium that’s home to the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United FC boasts a retractable ceiling, and thus, countless eyes were peeled to the massive opening in the sky, as if Kanye West himself would swoop in Lady Gaga-style to commence the momentous DONDA listening event. At one point, the lights shining above the lengthy white sheet that covered the field caused indecipherable lines, numbers, and symbols to appear underneath, leading fans to theorize that Kanye was hiding a secret stage underneath the expansive white covering.

Yet to probably everyone’s surprise, nothing that theatrical, exhilarating, or mind-blowing happened — at least, performance-wise — the entire night. Following an interminable wait, a glowing ring appeared at the now-shut roof, and Kanye just strolled onto the field as music started blaring from the myriad of speakers situated around the stadium. No microphone, no elaborate scheme — just Kanye West, dressed in a bright red outfit and full face mask that evoked memories of the My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and Yeezus eras of his career.

For much of the album’s runtime, Kanye stood in the middle of Mercedes-Benz Stadium and stared straight into the crowd. As those in attendance listened attentively to the songs pouring out of the speakers, the DONDA artist gazed upon them like a proud chef watching guests eat an elaborate meal he had just prepared. Kanye even danced from time to time, and from the floor, he made his rounds and checked in on all the sections of awestruck fans.

The DONDA listening event could be interpreted as the ultimate stroking of Kanye West’s ego. Ten albums in, the artist who started off as a producer, could still command a crowd in one of Atlanta’s most unconquerable arenas. Beyonce and Jay-Z’s two-night stint at Mercedes-Benz for the On the Run II Tour in 2018 remains the only Hip-Hop event in recent years to pack out the stadium, and here Kanye West was in 2021, taking in all of the love and attention without saying one word.

While that idea is definitely plausible, the DONDA listening event could also be seen as one of the greatest album listening events in Hip-Hop history. The absence of gimmicks and the lack of any fluffy track-by-track anecdotes yielded a space where fans could soak in the music without any distractions and honestly react to the songs in real-time. As a result, there were times when a song would conclude and the stadium would absolutely erupt, and on the contrary, you could tell when the fans in attendance weren’t feeling a song at all.

The electrifying start to the Pop Smoke track, for instance, immediately got the crowd jumping to the point that it looked like a mosh pit was about to break out in the stands. Yet when the monstrous beat drop that everyone was waiting for never came, all of that momentum faded away, and rather than roaring applause, confusion and light clapping filled the stadium. However, there was no denying the impact that the masterful performances by Baby Keem and Jay-Z had on Mercedes-Benz. Nothing beats an “Is that who I think it is!?” moment, and when both emcees floated to the forefront of their respective DONDA tracks, you could see several fans turning towards their friends with looks of awe spread across their faces. Before anyone had even heard a good quality version of the songs, the raucous applause had cemented them as two of DONDA’s early highlights.

Regardless of what you deduce about Kanye West’s psyche from Thursday night, the DONDA listening event was about the music, and because of that, Ye was able to make the largest indoor stadium in Georgia feel like an intimate event. He let DONDA, his latest album and his late mother, speak for him. Returning to the city where he was born, Kanye West played one of the most anticipated albums of the year without saying a single word, because the brief stretches of his album that featured archived speeches from his mother said everything he needed to say.

When Donda West said, “No matter what, you never abandon your family,” there was a real weight to that statement, and the emotional intensity of Kanye’s music, especially when considering that his children and his recently divorced wife Kim Kardashian were in attendance, sitting yards away from him. Heart-wrenching moments like that can’t really be captured through viral clips on Twitter, but that’s what made the DONDA listening event powerful, even if it wasn’t the most entertaining visual display that Kanye West has ever put on.

Ye once freestyled about fooling his fans and the entire entertainment industry during the 2013 Yeezus tour stop in Atlanta, and eight years later, he fooled everyone once again. As an artist who has done the unthinkable in terms of stage design, Kanye somehow managed to subvert expectations again by stripping away much of what young Kanye West fans probably fell in love with in the first place: his incomparable performances. He came out, he played his album, and he left. And although the DONDA listening event was admittedly strange, it was a quaint reflection of Kanye West’s fast approaching tenth studio album.

Kyle Kuzma Reportedly Believes He’s As Good As Jayson Tatum

Kyle Kuzma is one of the most scrutinized players in the entire NBA and over the years, the scrutiny and the slander has steadily gotten worse. At the start of his career, Kuzma was perceived as a player who could one day be one of the best young players in the entire NBA. Once LeBron James and Anthony Davis touched down in Los Angeles, Kuzma’s role with the Lakers was diminished, and since that time, he hasn’t looked like the same player.

Now, Kuzma’s future in Los Angeles is up in the air, and with this in mind, numerous reports and rumors are floating around in regards to Kuzma and how he perceives himself within the league. For instance, on the “The Lakerside Chats” podcast, reporter Eric Pincus revealed that Kuzma believes he is a similar talent to Jayson Tatum.

“I think that Kyle Kuzma perceives himself as someone like Jayson Tatum,” Pincus explained. “I think that’s how he views himself. And that’s great. You should view yourself as one of the best young players in the league.”

Unfortunately for Kuzma, this belief isn’t exactly being taken well by other NBA fans. In the tweets below, you can see that some fans believe that Kuzma is delusional here and that there is no way he is as good as someone like Tatum. At this point, their salaries reflect a large discrepancy between the two, however, it’s good to see Kuzma is still confident in himself.

Lil Tecca Drops New Single “Money On Me”

Lil Tecca first emerged onto the scene with “Ransom,” as breakout a hit as one might imagine. What he lacked in lyrical complexity he made up for in impish charm, casual swagger, and a keen mind for infectious melody. Now, Tecca has returned with another new single “Money On Me,” opting to stick to themes he’s already well familiar with. Which is to say, balling at an unrelenting pace.

Over a whimsical instrumental, Tecca floats as he sing-raps tales of paradise and the benefits of the lavish lifestyle. Still, there’s a faint melancholy hidden within the production, perhaps inviting listeners to look a little deeper; beneath the trappings of wealth, is Lil Tecca truly satisfied — or does the young sensation want something more? Either way, he’s rich enough to pen songs about it, and that’s proven to be a successful formula thus far.

Check out Lil Tecca’s “Money On Me” now, and sound off if you’re excited to see where the rapper goes on his next project.

JAY-Z Teases “Watch The Throne 2” On New Kanye West Album

The tenth anniversary of Watch The Throne is arriving next month, and we may be getting the long-awaited sequel before the end of this year. Kanye West and JAY-Z haven’t been on the best terms in recent years, but last night, they seemingly repaired their relationship and now, there’s the possibility that WTT2 could actually happen.

With JAY-Z being featured on Kanye’s new album DONDA, anything could happen now regarding the highly-anticipated second chapter of Watch The Throne. Knowing full well that people would be tuned in to listen to his words, which were reportedly recorded mere hours before the listening party, JAY-Z hyped up the next installment of WTT, bringing joy to millions of rap fans’ lives.

“Told him to stop all that red cap, we going home/Cannot be with all of these sins casting stones,” raps JAY-Z on one of Kanye’s new songs, which premiered last night. “This might be the return of The Throne, Throne/Hova and Yeezus like Moses and Jesus/You’re not in control of my thesis.”

Kanye previously tweeted that he missed Hov last year, and he also teased the arrival of WTT2. However, there have been no updates on the project since then. Could we be nearing the arrival of Ye AND Jay season? Here’s hoping!

Alina Baraz Drops Intimate “Alone With You”

R&B singer Alina Baraz made waves in 2020 with the release of her debut album It Was Divine, featuring collaborations with Nas, Smino, 6LACK, and Khalid. The emerging singer certainly proved herself as a force to be reckoned with, though largely stayed out of the spotlight this year. However, after linking up with UnitedMasters and becoming an independent artist, Baraz has finally treated fans to a new track with the passionate “Alone with You.”

“Alone with You” feels as intimate as the title suggests, with lush production and a gentle lead melody from Baraz. The track finds Baraz in the peak of a carefree relationship, finding that she’s “home with you,/ no matter the place.” Whether they’re just going for a drive or dancing, there’s no place Baraz would rather be.

Baraz’s voice is definitely a showstopper on the track as well with it’s airiness and pleasant tone. Whether you’re in a similar relationship or seeking one, “Alone With You” is certain to set the mood.

Warriors Superstars Reportedly Pushing For Bradley Beal Trade

These past couple of years have been incredibly difficult for the Golden State Warriors as their team has faced significant injuries to its best players. Klay Thompson has been particularly dealt a rough hand as he tore his ACL in the 2019 Finals and even tore his Achilles in training camp prior to the 2020-2021 season. As a result, the Warriors haven’t seen the postseason since 2019 and fans are starting to get worried about the future of the franchise.

Thompson is expected to be back this season although it appears as though the Warriors aren’t happy with keeping the roster the same. There have been rumors that the Warriors want to get rid of guys like James Wiseman and that they even want to shop their seventh overall pick in the draft.

In a new report from The Athletic, it was revealed that Steph Curry, Thompson, and even Draymond Green are urging the Warriors front office to make a trade for Washington Wizards star Bradley Beal, as they believe he could fix a lot of their problems.

Per The Athletic:

“The Warriors’ trio of stars — Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson — have made it clear to management they want the franchise to focus on the pursuit of a championship, even to consider using their two lottery picks to get someone who can help immediately, sources confirmed. Warriors general manager Bob Myers said their goal this offseason is to add more of a veteran presence.

Should the Warriors go that route, Beal, the Washington Wizards’ guard who made third-team All-NBA, is deemed to be the best player and best fit for the Warriors among the players who could potentially be available this offseason.”

Acquiring a player like Beal isn’t going to be easy, especially when you consider how the star has yet to announce any sort of ill will towards the Wizards franchise. As it stands, Beal wants to remain a Wizard and until that changes, the Warriors can forget adding him to the roster in any capacity.

With the NBA offseason just around the corner, keep it locked to HNHH as we will be sure to bring you all of the latest news and updates.

Russ Takes His Girl Around The World On “Lake Como”

It seems like every week Russ fans are surprised by the singer/rapper’s relentless grind, and every following week that same feeling of amazement returns. “Lake Como,” today’s release, marks the 12th weekly single in a row that Russ has dropped. While the string of releases stretch all the way back to early May, it seems Russ has been prioritizing both quantity and quality, and “Lake Como” is no exception to this rule. The atmospheric love song is a slow vibe and finds Russ more relaxed than the more aggressive singles he’s released recently.

The instrumental on “Lake Como” introduces the track and becomes a highlight throughout the song. Russ’s production has improved significantly over the years and the gentle, yet spacey layers on “Lake Como” exhibit this talent.

Russ breaks out his singing voice on the new track with some pretty impressive melodies and refrains. Though some of his vocal sounds can sound strained or muffled, his overall performance is compelling as he sings about taking his girl around the world.

Do you think “Lake Como” is a standout among Russ’ new releases? Hopefully, next week will bring a second helping.

Check the song out below.
