Deante Hitchcock Continues His Streak With “Wait Until Summer”

Deante Hitchcock’s recent Better album proved that the rapper could string together a cohesive and versatile body of work, one that put a wide variety of different styles on display. Since its release, however, Hitchcock has been on an absolute tear, hellbent on showcasing how nice with the bars he truly is. Case in point, his recent freestyle over Spillage Village’s “Baptize” may very well be an early verse-of-the-year contender.

With hype for his upcoming album currently heating up, Hitchcock has come through with another new freestyle in “Wait Until Summer,” which may very well point to his release plans. Though this latest only runs for a minute or so, Hitchcock absolutely bodies the synth-driven instrumental with an expertly-flowed verse. “They want that fire, give it to em’ like I owe em that,” he spits. “I run my team like the owner, coach, or the quarterback / tryna show em’ how far we Kangol like hats on them older cats, jumpin’ Jehosaphat.”

Clearly, Hitchcock is a man on a mission right now, and we can’t wait to see what he brings to the table on his upcoming album. Check out his latest freestyle now.

Night Lovell Is Back With “Just Say You Don’t Care”

It’s been two years since Ottawa-bred rapper Night Lovell blessed his cult-like following with GOODNIGHT LOVELL, and since that time, he’s inked a new record deal with G59 Records, the same imprint that is home to $uicideboys, Shakewell, Ramirez, and Germ– so it’s clear with Lovell’s equally dark and sinister style that he’ll fit right in among his labelmates. Although it’s worth noting, none make an appearance on this particular project — nor do any other features.

The rapper has been exploring the depths of his voice while pushing the atmospheric melodies forward ever since his debut with Red Teenage Melody, and it’s territory he hasn’t left behind on Just Say You Don’t Care, either. The new album contains 14 records, including lead singles like “Counting Down the List,” “Bottom Top” and “Alone.”

We also featured Night as On the Come Up back in 2018– if you missed that, or are unfamiliar, catch up below.

Check out Just Say You Don’t Care and let us know if you’ll be keeping it on rotation this weekend. Any immediate stand-outs? Drop them in the comments.

Czarface & MF DOOM Drop New Album “Super What?”

CZARFACE (7L & Esoteric) and MF DOOM have returned with a concentrated dose of new music, surprising the masses with a new album called Super What? Originally recorded in April of 2020, Esoteric opened up about the project during a reveal announcement on Instagram. “I speak for everyone involved when I say we were incredibly fortunate to have collaborated with DOOM,” he states. “He was a one-of-a-kind, never-to-be-duplicated emcee, producer, and visionary.”

As the first posthumous project from the late MF DOOM, Super What? already feels like it holds a special significance. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that the album is incredibly produced from start to finish, an immersive and delightfully underground body of work featuring impeccable lyricism from all contributing parties.

As expected given the artwork, there’s an undercurrent of geek-friendly themes and imagery throughout, exemplified in titles like “Mando Calrissian,” “This Is Canon Now,” and “Jason & The Czargonauts.” Insofar as the bars go, Deck, Esoteric, and DOOM keep the standard elevated, lining up punchlines incorporating everything from Game Of Thrones to AEW to Bojack Horseman. It’s certainly welcome to hear the triumphant return of the Vaudeville Villain in what may very well be among his final recorded material, giving Super What? an added significance.

Should you appreciate the underground aesthetic — best summarized for beginners as raw-sample-based production and dense penmanship — Czarface & MF DOOM’s latest crossover special is essential listening. Be sure to sound off with your favorite songs in the comments below. Rest in peace MF DOOM.

Toosii Releases New Single “shop” Featuring DaBaby

Back in October 2020, DaBaby praised up-and-coming superstar Toosii as the “hottest new artist in the world.” The rapper has taken on a mentorship role with the rising 21-year-old artist, working with him as part of his deal with South Coast Music Group. On Friday, Toosii officially released his new mixtape, titled Thank You For Believing. He’s aiming for “all-time status” after declaring himself the rookie of the year, and his new single with DaBaby called “shop” will surely help him get there.

The new record comes alongside a music video featuring both of the buzzing rap stars. The contagious, confident track sees Toosi delivering all sorts of cheeky one-liners before DaBaby jumps in. According to a press release, this song was recorded in the same session as DaBaby’s “Masterpiece.”

Watch the music video for Toosii’s new single “shop” with DaBaby below. What do you think?

Quotable Lyrics:

RIP the opps
Gotta put clips on opps
F*cking wit rich n***as
Won’t hit licks, hit for stocks
All of the whips convertible, tell her to pick the drop
And I’ll take a n***a life before I take a b*tch to shop

The Barbz Might’ve Just Got Nicki Minaj A Hit Single In Only 8 Hours

The Barbz are the powerful force behind Nicki Minaj and her success. Known for their undying loyalty to the Queen, the entire fanbase has no problem getting into it with just about anyone who they feel does not give Nicki her proper flowers.

Minaj has yet to release a full project of solo material as a follow-up to her 2018 album Queen. Intended to encourage the hitmaker to release more music and prove she has unwavering support behind her, in just 8 hours, Nicki fans earned the Queen her best performing single of 2021 in just one night.

The Barbz launched the “LLC Party” on Twitter late last night. The phrase eventually became the #1 trend in the United States. “LLCParty” is now trending worldwide with over 133k Tweets,” reported one Twitter user. Even Doja Cat joined in on the support, encouraging people to continue streaming the track on her Instagram story.

If that wasn’t enough to show you the power of the Barbz, the song went on to enter the Top 40 of the iTunes US Chart for the first time ever. In addition to debuting on the iTunes chart, the song became Minaj’s best performing single of 2021 all within 8 hours.

“LLC” is one of the standout tracks from Minaj’s fourth studio album Queen. Upon listening to the Barb-favorite track, it’s easy to see why. The playful but hard-hitting cut boasts some of the new mom’s best bars on her latest project.

Nicki has been notably lowkey as of late, something that can be attributed to the recent passing of her father and her open struggle with post-partum depression. Robert Maraj was killed in February after falling victim to a hit-and-run accident in New York.

Hopefully, seeing all the Barbz hard work can at least bring some sort of joy to Nicki.

Jake Paul Gets Tattoo To Commemorate Snatching Floyd Mayweather’s Hat

At the presser for Logan Paul’s upcoming fight against championship boxer Floyd Mayweather, an altercation took place between Mayweather and Paul’s brother, YouTuber Jake Paul. At the culmination of the event, Floyd caught up to Jake Paul in the crowd, exchanging some tense words before Jake snatched the hat from atop the boxer’s head, proudly exclaiming, “Gotcha hat,” and running away like a little kid. Floyd instantly rushed the prankster and one of his security guards allegedly landed a clean punch on the troll, leaving him with a black eye.

People have been reacting in droves to the altercation on social media, with some fans claiming that Jake Paul took the L. Regardless of who came out on the upper hand, Jake wants to remember the moment forever, getting his new catchphrase tattooed onto his leg directly following the incident.

Posting a video of himself getting some work done while he enjoyed a sandwich, Jake Paul revealed that he had gotten a cap tattooed onto his lower leg with the words “Gotcha hat” right above. It seems like a pretty fitting addition to his growing ink collection, given the fact that much of Paul’s recent career has been bolstered by his constant slander of the boxing legend.

After their little battle on Thursday, it’s almost inevitable that Jake Paul and Floyd Mayweather’s bout will be one that will be viewed by the millions. Stay tuned for more information on their upcoming fight, as well as the match involving Logan Paul.
