SZA Just Performed Her ‘Last Show For A While,’ She Explained: ‘Finally About To Get My Life Together’

SZA is coming off a busy festival season that has seen her perform at Sol Blume, Primavera Sound Barcelona, Governors Ball, and just this past weekend, Lollapalooza Chicago and Osheaga. After that flurry of activity, though, it looks like we may have to wait some time before we see SZA on stage again.

Last night (August 5), SZA tweeted, “Yesterday was my last show for a while . Finally bout to get my life together thank u God .”

SZA’s website currently lists her next scheduled performance as being on November 20 at Al Dana Amphitheatre in Aş Şakhīr, Bahrain.

It’s not clear what SZA meant by getting her life together, but she does have two sets of new material in the pipeline. In March, she offered an update saying that she intends to release some previously leaked tracks soon. Meanwhile, her upcoming album Lana, which was previously set to be a deluxe edition of SOS before expanding into its own project, is also on the way.

She also recently spoke about how she’s perceived in music, saying, “The only reason I’m defined as an R&B artist is because I’m Black. It’s almost a little reductive because it doesn’t allow space to be anything else or try anything else. Justin Bieber is not considered an R&B artist; he is a pop artist who makes R&B, folk music, or whatever his heart desires. I simply just want to be allowed the same opportunity to make whatever I want without a label, [without it being] based on the color of my skin, or the crew that I run with, or the beats that I choose.”

Kamala Harris will be the Democratic nominee for President of the United States in November. Overall, this is going to be a very contentious election, especially with Donald Trump back in the fold. Since securing the nomination, many have been left wondering who Kamala will chose as her running mate. After all, there are plenty of Democrats to choose from. In fact, it seems like Harris has spent all of last week and this weekend trying to figure out who her choice will be.

As of yesterday, Harris was down to two choices. These choices were Pennsylvania governor Josh Shapiro, and Minnesota governor, Tim Walz. Although many saw Shapiro as a guaranteed win in PA, there were some fears about his past. As for Walz, his legislative record is extremely progressive, and as a result, he was being touted as the best choice out there. Well, according to inside sources, Kamala Harris has chosen Walz as her VP.

Kamala Harris Has Her Guy

The pick has not been officially announced by Harris or her team. However, it seems like an announcement will be made in the not-so-distant future. Last night, Walz increased the security details surrounding his Minnesota home, which led to further speculation that he would become the vice presidential nominee. Whatever the case may be, this is a high profile decision for the Harris campaign, especially considering the fact that JD Vance has been a flop for the Trump campaign.

Tasha K Scores Huge $360 Million Win Against Bishop Lamor Whitehead

Tasha K is someone who is no stranger to litigation. Overall, she has been subjected to numerous lawsuits throughout her career. As a gossip blogger, this comes with the territory. However, she has come through with some losses. For instance, she currently owes Cardi B a whole lot of money, which is certainly less than ideal. Moreover, last May, she was sued by Bishop Lamor Whitehead, who is currently in prison after being convicted of fraud.

Whitehead sued Tasha K for defamation as well as invasion of privacy. He was seeking $360 million in damages and was claiming that the gossip blogger was lying about him. In one of her videos, Tasha K joked that Whitehead had purchased a $2 million mansion with just $10 to his name. Ultimately, the judge ruled in Tasha K’s favor, according to AllHipHop. Essentially, the judge found her statements to be fair report privilege. Furthermore, the judge noted that some of the statements were provably true and could not fall under “defamation.”

Tasha K Won’t Be Sued This Time

Considering the various legal issues that Tasha K has had in the past, this is a huge victory for her. As for Bishop Lamor Whitehead, he was recently sentenced to nine years in prison. Needless to say, the two are experiencing opposite levels of judiciary success right now. Regardless, Tasha K will need to be careful moving forward. She has been subjected to numerous lawsuits, and only time will tell whether or not that changes.

Kevin Abstract Channels Soulja Boy On New Single “DIRTY BOY SWAG”

Kevin Abstract is difficult to pin down. He’s a supremely gifted rapper, yet his debut album leaned more into singing. He co-founded BROCKHAMPTON, yet the boy band’s last album was pretty much a Kevin Abstract solo effort. It can be confounding to follow his career trajectory, but the unpredictability is also part of the appeal. His latest single, “DIRTY BOY SWAG,” is a testament to this “anything goes” process. The rapper teams up with Quadeca for a song that recalls Soulja Boy’s “Pretty Boy Swag,” but gives it a grimy makeover. Hence, the revamped title. “DIRTY BOY SWAG” is the rare song that sounds exactly like its title suggests.

Kevin Abstract adopts a mumbly, borderline atonal flow for “DIRTY BOY SWAG.” It sounds like he’s trying to channel Soulja Boy, but also the more incomprehensible side of Lil B. The influence of the latter really shines through in the music video. Abstract is rapping in non-glamorous locations and busting out very, very awkward dance moves in the process. The sound and the aesthetic suggests a sort of intentional, one take roughness to it. “DIRTY BOY SWAG” is worlds away from the sound Abstract dropped on his debut, or his recent album, Blanket. That being said, there’s something compelling about. Based God swag filtered through Abstract’s sad boy energy is a hybrid that sounds better in song than it looks on paper.
