Cardi B Calls Community Service A “Spiritual Journey”

Cardi B says that her time doing community service has been a “spiritual journey.” Cardi reflected on the experience in a tweet posted on Saturday afternoon. The mandated service stems from a plea deal Cardi accepted regarding a 2018 strip club brawl in Queens, New York. Two bartenders at Angel’s Strip Club alleged that Cardi ordered an attack on them because she believed her husband Offset had had an affair with one of them.

“Community service has been the best thing that has happened to me. Almost like a spiritual journey because sometimes I leave these centers in tears. Those people that we leave behind they just need somebody to talk and a lil push and YOU might be able to change their life forever,” Cardi tweeted. It isn’t the first time she has mentioned the experience on Twitter. On Friday she shared a selfie while writing, “My brains are burning from waking up early, community service then studio….but I did the crime ‘I only have myself to blame.’”

Cardi’s “Spiritual Journey”

Cardi accepted the guilty plea in September, receiving two misdemeanor charges of assault in the third degree and reckless endangerment. The victims also received a three-year order of protection from Cardi. “Part of growing up and maturing is being accountable for your actions. As a mother, it’s a practice that I am trying to instill in my children, but the example starts with me. I’ve made some bad decisions in my past that I am not afraid to face and own up to,” Cardi said at the time in a statement obtained by PEOPLE. “These moments don’t define me and they are not reflective of who I am now. I’m looking forward to moving past this situation with my family and friends and getting back to the things I love the most — the music and my fans.”

Cardi has until March 1 to complete her service hours. The original deadline was last month, but she had it extended. It’s unclear exactly what service she’s doing, but she’s mentioned working with veterans on Instagram Live.

Bruce Arians Admits Tom Brady’s Divorce Impacted Buccaneers’ 2022 Struggles

Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians says that Tom Brady’s divorce from Gisele Bundchen played a role in the team’s struggles in 2022. Less than two years removed from a victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LV, the Bucs went just 9-8 while barely making the playoffs. Arians spoke about the tumultuous season during a recent appearance on The Rich Eisen Show.

Arians explained that injuries to key players had a major impact as well, but that he couldn’t recognize Tom Brady on the field. “The injuries to our leaders was really, really hard,” Arians said. “Tom wasn’t himself, you know, with all the things that were going on. And I got to give him all the credit in the world for battling through what he went through last year for his teammates. I think the world of him but it wasn’t the real Tom Brady out there.” Arians coached Brady from 2020-2021. He stepped away from coaching but remained with the organization as a Senior Football Consultant the following year.

Arians also says that Brady’s latest retirement will be his last. “I definitely think so,” Arians said regarding Brady’s retirement. “He’s spent a lot of time with his kids and just heading to the next chapter. He’s got so many things going on, you know, he’s one busy dude.” Brady previously claimed to be retiring in 2022, but reneged on his decision, returning to the Bucs for one more season. The decision is believed to be a factor in Bundchen’s divorce.

Brady finished the year with 4,694 yards, 25 touchdowns, and 9 interceptions. The team lost to the Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs. He announced on social media he was retiring “for good” on February 1. Brady retires as arguably the greatest quarterback in the history of the NFL. He’s eligible for the Pro Football Hall of Fame starting in 2028.

Ariana DeBose Reflects On Viral BAFTAs Performance

Ariana DeBose spoke about her viral performance at the British Academy Film Awards during a new interview with Zoe Ball on her BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show. When Ball admitted that she liked the performance, DeBose joked, “You know what, you might be one of the few.” For her time on stage, DeBose rapped praises for the female acting nominees. “Angela Bassett did the thing, Viola Davis my ‘Woman King,’ Blanchett Cate you’re a genius, Jamie Lee you are all of us,” she sang at one point.

Ball explained that she liked the performance because it was “woman singing and dancing, being magnificent celebrating women.” DeBose responded by adding that’s what she “wanted to do.” “Honestly, it’s not like I’m like, ‘Hey BAFTA, let me in!’ They actually called me, believe it or not,” DeBose said. “But that was the assignment. Like, ‘Come celebrate women,’ and I was like, ‘Absolutely!’ We did that and it was fun. Not gonna lie, I had a blast.”

“[It was] so awesome, and then I spent the rest of the night, you know, cutting a rug. Which, is that something you say here? Cutting a rug with Emma Thompson,” she continued, referring to dancing with the actress. “It was fabulous. I had a great time.” While the response to DeBose’s performance was negative online, she claimed that people in attendance were fans. In particular, she recalled Elvis director Baz Luhrmann enjoying it. “He was like, ‘No, I think you’re great, that was fun. I had fun.’ And I was like, ‘work,’ ” she said. “That’s a win, you guys. And apparently, gay Twitter seemed to like it? So that’s good, I’ll take it. I told you, my people.”

After the initial criticism on Twitter, DeBose deleted her account on the platform. While she has yet to return to the site, she shared an optimistic message on Instagram, earlier this week. She posted the quote, “Babygirl [sic], in a world full of choices, choose yourself.” Prior to the BBC Radio 2 interview, it was the only public statement DeBose had made since the awards ceremony.

SZA Praises Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, & Megan The Stallion

SZA spoke about her appreciation of Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, and Megan The Stallion during a new interview with The Los Angeles Times. Speaking with the outlet, she reacted to Beyoncé losing at the 2023 Grammy Awards, Swift re-recording her albums, and the lack of empathy for Megan The Stallion following her case against Tory Lanez.

As for Beyoncé, she recently lost out at the Grammys in the Album of the Year category for her 2022 project, Renaissance. The Academy instead went with Harry’s House by Harry Styles. “Beyoncé — she’s so much bigger than a[n] fucking Grammy. She’s Beyoncé! She’s done it for women, she’s done it for Black people, she’s done it for artists,” SZA said while adding, “She’s done so much for the world by just being herself.” Despite the loss, Beyoncé still took home enough awards to become the winningest artist in the history of the awards ceremony. Of Taylor Swift, she added: “Even Taylor letting that whole situation go with her masters and then selling all of those fucking records. That’s the biggest ‘fuck you’ to the establishment I’ve ever seen in my life, and I deeply applaud that shit.”

SZA For The L.A. Times

From there, SZA spoke about dealing with misogyny in the music industry. “I was tired and angry, ” she said. “I feel like men just pick on women so much in music, it’s corny. Women sell so much music! A lot of y’all that are talking down on women — we sell more records than you. We literally make more money.” In particular, SZA says that she was upset with the negative response to Megan The Stallion regarding Tory Lanez’s recent trial. “Why did we require so much from Megan to have empathy for her?” SZA said. “It was inhumane how it all went, with the bizarre level of scrutiny on her sex life. But justice was served. I hope that Megan’s somewhere healing.”

SZA’s interview with The Los Angeles Times comes after the release of her second studio album, SOS. The project dropped back in December featuring Don Toliver, Phoebe Bridgers, Travis Scott, and the late Ol’ Dirty Bastard. It spent nine non-consecutive weeks atop the Billboard 200.

Cardi B Says Community Service Has Been ‘The Best Thing’ To Happen To Her

Cardi B recently got very candid about her experiences with her court-ordered community service. The “Up” hitmaker reveals that community service is a “spiritual journey” and has changed her for the better. Her court order stems from her 2018 case, where she pled guilty to ordering an assault — earning herself two misdemeanors — on two female employees at Angel’s Strip Club in New York.

Presumably due to her busy schedule, the rapper struggled to complete her community service on time. The court granted Cardi a two-month extension this past January.

“Community service has been the best thing that has happened to me,” Cardi tweeted on Saturday, February 25. “[It’s] almost like a spiritual journey because sometimes I leave these centers in tears.

She continued, “Those people that we leave behind, they just need somebody to talk and a lil push, and YOU might be able to change their life forever.”

To date, Cardi has fulfilled her community service requirement. Now maybe the busy mother of two can return to prepping her highly anticipated second album, which she teased earlier this year. When she’s not in the studio or taking care of her kids, you can bet she is working on expanding her empire, like her recent partnership with McDonald’s alongside her husband, Offset.

Cardi B is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Julia Fox’s Leather Lingerie Makes A Statement At Milan Fashion Week

The one person we can always count on to make a bold outfit statement – whether it’s fashion week or not – is Julia Fox. The mother of one is presently in her hometown of Milan, Italy for the ongoing style celebrations, and she certainly isn’t coming quietly. On Saturday (February 25), she donned a daring all-black ensemble that, while certainly kept her warm from any cool breezes, still showed off her flat mid-section and curvy thighs.

Of course, this isn’t the only unique look we’ve seen the Uncut Gems starlet in this month. While attending New York Fashion Week she carried a chilling six-foot body bag as a purse, bringing no shortage of attention her way. Prior to that, she walked in Alexander Wang’s runway and attempted to defend herself from the backlash she received as a result of supporting the controversial designer.

Julia Channels Her Inner Dominatrix

The 33-year-old looked nothing short of animalistic in her latest statement ‘fit. Beneath a calf-length black fur coat, she paid tribute to her former dominatrix days in some ultra-sexy thigh-high leather boots and a matching thong. Her chest hides behind a crop top which left most of her perfectly flat stomach on display.

Fox’s accessories included a black and silver circular-shaped purse, as well as a pair of futuristic, blue-tinted glasses. On her hands, she wore giant claws that seem to resemble some sort of creature. The more fashion-forward fans of the actress feel the inspiration in her bold choices. The critics, however, are making it known they can’t get behind her out-of-the-box style quite yet.

Fur Coat Frenzy

As you may have seen in the news this weekend, Fox isn’t the only one to step out in a stunning fur coat lately. Rihanna also did earlier this month, while grabbing dinner at her favourite restaurant in Santa Monica. Unfortunately for her, PETA isn’t taking so kindly to the Bad Gal wearing animals and didn’t hesitate to send her a letter requesting that she switch to a cruelty-free alternative.

To make her transition easier, the organization has offered to send the new mother a faux fur coat from an ethical brand. Additionally, they’re hoping to take Rihanna’s collection of coats and other garments off her hands and deliver them to victims of the natural disasters in Turkey and Syria who have been left with nothing. Read more about that here, and check back later for more pop culture news.
