Rae Sremmurd Teases ‘Sremm4Life,’ Their Upcoming Fourth Album: ‘Bout To Get A Dose Of This Sremmy’

It’s been quite a while since Rae Sremmurd gave the world a full body of work. To find that, you’d have to go back to 2018 when the rap duo composed of Swae Lee and Slim Jxmmi released their third album SR3MM. The project arrived as a triple-disc with one side being a 9-track Rae Sremmurd release, and the remaining two discs being 9-track solo efforts from Swae and Slim. The rappers have shared some tidbits about their fourth album over the years, but music has yet to arrive from it. All of that could change soon as they teased the project once again from their social media accounts.

The rap duo posted an image of the number four of fire to the Rae Sremmurd Twitter page with the caption, “SREMM4LIFE.” In a second tweet that Swae Lee shared from his personal account, he added, “Bout to get a dose of this Sremmy.” Slim Jxmmi also chimed in with his own tweet, writing, “Time for that 4 foe four for phor.” All of the aforementioned posts seemingly confirm that new music from the project should arrive much sooner than later.

In an interview with Essence back in 2019, Rae Sremmurd seemingly confirmed that their upcoming fourth album would be set up like 2018’s SR3MM. For what it’s worth, that interview was more than three years ago, so it remains to be seen if that is still the plan for the duo.

Nicki Minaj Is The New Creative Director Of Maxim

Nicki Minaj is busy, but she’s about to get busier as the new creative director of Maxim. The rapper has entered a multi-year, global partnership with MaximBet and will work with them on “merchandise, parties, partnerships, fan experiences and branding all designed to bring together entertainment, sports, celebrity and betting,” as per the website’s statement.

It also adds: “Minaj, who categorically disrupted the male-dominated industry of rap music, is doing the same with sports betting by bringing her style and ethos to MaximBet to illustrate the lifestyle components of the brand while vastly broadening its audience, including inviting more women into the fold.”

Minaj has many opinions that she’s often open about; she recently took to Twitter to discuss her thoughts on menswear. She had lots of advice that entertained her fans. If men wanted to be more attractive, she encouraged them to “wear gray sweatpants. Everyday. Well if they want some ass that day. With crispy sneakers.” However, there’s a downside, as well. The rapper warned, “If I see one scuff ima put my p*ssy back in the drawer.” She also mentioned light blue jeans, although it’s unclear which category those fall into: “Getting ass” or “back in the drawer.”

“Star Wars” Defends Moses Ingram Against Its Own Fanbase: “Don’t Be Racist”

These Star Wars projects have caused havoc within the iconic franchise’s fanbase and with each new addition, the racists have come out to play. While Black faces aren’t new to Star Wars or its subsequent series that have unfolded in the decades since its inception, its global fanbase has struggled to accept new characters, especially those of Color. John Boyega spoke at length about his experience, often using his social media platforms to go at it with Star Wars fans who took issue with his casting.

More recently, actress Moses Ingram, star of Disney’s new Obi-Wan Kenobi series, detailed the ongoing hate and racist messages she continues to receive.  “Long story short, there are hundreds of those. Hundreds,” she said while showing off the hateful messages.

“And I also see those of you out there who put on a cape for me and that really does mean the world to me because, you know, there’s nothing anybody can do about this,” Ingram added. “There’s nothing anybody can do to stop this hate. And so I question my purposes even being here in front of you saying that this is happening.”

In response, the Star Wars brand took to its official Twitter account to stand by Ingram during this time. “We are proud to welcome Moses Ingram to the Star Wars family and excited for Reva’s story to unfold. If anyone intends to make her feel in any way unwelcome, we have only one thing to say: we resist,” it wrote along with a photo of Ingram.

“There are more than 20 million sentient species in the Star Wars galaxy, don’t choose to be a racist.” However, some were quick to note that when Boyega complained of his experience, he didn’t receive the same response from the franchise, at least not publicly. Check it out below.

NBA YoungBoy’s Mother DMs Tyler Perry For Movie Role

You miss one hundred percent of the shots you don’t take, or so they say, and NBA YoungBoy’s mother has decided to take a chance. Deals are made and broken on social media every day as people have used platforms to help push forward their dreams, and it looks as if Sherhonda Gaulden wants to be a movie star—that is if it’s in one of Tyler Perry’s films.

A screenshot of a DM was shared online showing that Gaulden slid in Perry’s DMs with a request to cast her in his next flick, although she did detail a major setback.

“Dear mr Tyler Perry’s I think you should put me in a movie I have no acting skills are nothing like that buy you should just take a change on me,” she reportedly sent the filmmaker.

This may seem like a farfetched idea, but Ms. Sherhonda isn’t the first to try to capture Perry’s attention publicly. Previously, there was a woman who took out billboards around Atlanta with her headshot, contact information, and a note for Perry to hire her. Later, she scored herself a victory after he cast her on one of his series.

However, he did tell her next time, just save her money and audition like everyone else. No word on if YoungBoy’s mother caught Perry’s attention just yet. Check it out below.

Ja Rule Reflects On Turning To Drug Dealing To Help His Mother

As Nas narrates his way through this series, Origins of Hip Hopgives new perspectives on artists that have been hailed as icons. The A&E docuseries tackles the lives and careers of many of our Rap favorites, including Ja Rule who has dished out a hit or two throughout his lengthy stay in the industry. Often, fans grow so familiar with these artists that there is a belief there isn’t much new to learn, and Origins of Hip Hop is dispelling that myth one episode at a time.

Ahead of its premiere over the weekend, teasers were shared including one about Ja Rule. The “Between Me & You” hitmaker spoke about doing whatever he could to make money prior to becoming famous, especially considering that his mother was struggling financially.

“She couldn’t really lean on any family for financial help,” Ja said. “At that moment, I knew that I was willing to do whatever I had to do to help. What I seen at first as a success was drug dealers. They had cars, they had money, they had women, and I was like, ‘Alright, I’m in.’” At that time, Ja was about 16 years old.

“The music was always there,” he added, noting that he would use his traveling time to work on his craft. “I dropped out in the 11th grade, I said, ‘I could make a G a week, I’m cool.” Elsewhere, Ja reportedly revealed that when he finally signed his deal, he received a $50K advance and spent nearly $40K on a registered nurse to care for his mother.

“I went to tell my mother that I had the deal and she told me she was diagnosed with cancer, the same day,” said Ja. “We don’t give up on our family, we fight the fight.” Check out a clip of Ja Rule on Origins of Hip Hop below.

Pharrell Announces A New Collaboration With Tyler The Creator And 21 Savage

In the next few weeks, Pharrell will kick off the second edition of his Something In The Water music festival. He first debuted the showcase back in 2019 in his hometown of Virginia Beach, and while he intended to hold it again in the years that followed, some outside forces caused a second edition to be delayed until this year. The COVID pandemic forced cancellations in 2020 and 2021, and towards the end of the latter year, he announced that the festival would no longer be held in Virginia Beach due to the city’s “toxic energy” following their response to his cousin’s murder by a police officer.

Months later, Pharrell announced Something In The Water would bring its warm energy to Washington DC, and now, it appears that he may also perform a new song for the first time there. That’s because just a week before the festival kicks off, Pharrell will release “Cash In Cash Out,” his upcoming collaboration with Tyler the Creator and 21 Savage. The song is set to arrive on June 10 and Pharrell shared the news about it in an announcement that also provided a pre-save link for fans. The post also comes complete with artwork that presents animated versions of Pharrell, Tyler the Creator, and 21 Savage.

Pharrell’s announcement comes after Tyler won a Grammy for Best Rap Album for Call Me If You Get Lost earlier this year. As for 21 Savage, it comes after he brought his talents to the Coachella stage last month.

You can view the announcement for the song in the post above.
