YNW Melly’s Mother Says She Expects Him Home In 2022

YNW Melly’s mother, Jamie Demons-King, says that she expects her son to be released from prison later this year. Melly is currently facing double-murder charges to which he has pleaded not guilty.

“He will be home 2022,” Demons-King wrote on her Instagram Story, responding to a follower who asked when they can expect Melly to get out.

Earlier this year, Melly also expressed optimism that he’d be able to return home by the end of the year after sharing a statement on social media.

The update comes after the prosecution claimed that Melly authorized a hit on his own mother, citing text message exchanges.

“If you read his phone, there’s narcotics trafficking and firearms violations authorizing the killing of his mother,” the prosecution told the court. “Those are the things that you would consider ‘authorizing.’”

“This is pure desperation,” Demons-King wrote on social media after the allegations were made.

Melly has released two studio albums and two mixtapes throughout his short career including I Am You, We All Shine, Melly vs. Melvin, and Just a Matter of Slime. He’s best known for his hits “Murder on My Mind”, “Mixed Personalities” (featuring Kanye West), and “Suicidal” (featuring Juice Wrld).

Melly’s first murder arrest came on February 12, 2019. Later, it was revealed that he is a suspect in the fatal 2017 shooting of off-duty Indian River County Sheriff’s Department deputy Gary Chambliss in Gifford.

LeBron James Praises The Utah Jazz’s Latest Move

The Utah Jazz are making waves this offseason, but not in the realm of blockbuster trades. Fresh off the heels of announcing Will Hardy as the new head coach of the Jazz, ESPN Insider Adrian Wojnarowski announced a new addition to Utah’s front office.

“The Jazz are making a hire to the front office too: David Fizdale has agreed to become an associate GM, sources tell ESPN. After 18 seasons as an NBA head and assistant coach, Fizdale will move into management and work closely with GM Justin Zanik and CEO Danny Ainge with Jazz.” Former player of Fizdale, NBA superstar LeBron James, showed his former coach some love in his new job.

Fizdale has been a longtime staple of the NBA. He started his professional coaching career with stints as an assistant coach with the Golden State Warriors, Atlanta Hawks, and Miami Heat. With the Heat Fizdale teamed up with head coach Erik Spoelstra and the “Big 3” of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh to win two NBA Championships. In 2016, Fizdale went to Memphis to work his first head coaching job with the Grizzlies. After two seasons in Memphis, he coached for the  New York Knicks for two seasons before getting fired.

Most recently, Fizdale has worked as an assistant coach under Frank Vogel for the  Los Angeles Lakers. In a show of support, LeBron tweeted an encouraging message to his former coach’s new chapter with Utah. Fizdale will be joining a front office that has one of his former players in Dwyane Wade, who is a major owner of the team. LeBron has publicly supported Wade’s career on and off the court on multiple occasions, and it seems that goes for his former coach as well.

Skip Bayless Challenges Draymond Green Following Warriors Star’s Epic Rant

Draymond Green has been touting the “New Media” over the last few months. With his podcast becoming bigger than ever, Green has become an advocate for other players looking to get into the media space. Green believes people like Skip Bayless and Stephen A. Smith are being phased out and that at the end of the day, fans want to hear from players and not journalists who never actually played the game.

Recently, Green took some especially big shots at Skip Bayless, saying that Bayless is only famous because he has attached himself to a black man. Of course, the man in question is none other than LeBron James. Green thinks Bayless truly is the “real media” as the “real media” has always disparaged those who actually put in the work. Needless to say, Green got a lot off of his chest.

“You come out talking about the new media, that you not the new media, you the real media. You are the real media, you right. You’ve attached your name to a black man for all of these years and that black man is none other than King James, LeBron James himself. You try to tear him down as much as you can all these years. So you’re right, you are the real media. You are exactly who I speak of when I say ‘this is the new media. We do this differently.’ You right, I’m happy you admitted it. But the new media is here to stay and we taking this thing over. You know why? Because people don’t wanna hear that old, dried up, tired stuff that you talking about. Nobody wanna hear that no more.”

In the aftermath of these comments, Skip Bayless decided to take to Twitter with some words for Green. Basically, Skip is very upset with what Green is saying here, and moving forward, he wants to debate the Warriors star.

“HEY, DRAYMOND GREEN … There you go again, taking shots at me from a safe distance. LET’S GO HEAD-TO HEAD, your podcast or mine or BOTH. Let’s go deep on LeBron or Steph or YOU. Or anything NFL since you’re the “New Media.” Real talk. Not fake-tough-guy stuff. I’M WAITING …” Skip wrote.

A debate between these two is unlikely, although you can’t help but admire how these two both ride for their respective generations of media. Green is looking to represent the new way of doing things all while Skip is trying to defend the old guard. Both will likely survive, but the dichotomy between these two philosophies remains interesting.

Big Boi Gets Divorce After 20 Years Of Marriage

Former OutKast co-MC Big Boi has gotten a divorce from his partner of 20 years, Sherlita Patton. Legal documents obtained by TMZ show that the couple were in court last month and that Big Boi had filed for divorce in April. The filing said that there was “no reasonable hope of reconciliation” between the two and explained that they were already living separately.

Despite Big Boi’s actions, real name Antwan Patton, the divorce seems amicable from what the court documents present. Both agreed not to “maltreat, molest, harass, harm or abuse” each other in the process, and the agreement follows a 2016 pre-nuptial agreement where they divided their assets and debts.

Big Boi and Sherlita Patton (née Wise) married in March of 2002 and share two children: 27-year-old daughter Jordan and 21-year-old Cross, who’s developing a promising career in football at the University of Oregon. Big Boi also has a 22-year-old son from a previous relationship named Bamboo.

Sherlita had previously filed for divorce in 2013 with claims that the marriage was “irretrievably broken.” Big Boi said they reconciled their differences thanks to the family’s shared faith.

Big Boi recently appeared on a Verzuz battle as a special guest, supporting 8Ball, MJG, and UGK alongside Twista, David Banner, and others. Big Boi last made waves online with his episode of “How To Roll” with Sleepy Brown, where he told a wild anecdote about him and André 3000 selling weed. He’s also said he’s sitting on so much amazing unseen footage from OutKast tours that it would make for “the greatest OutKast documentary.

R. Kelly Sentenced to 30 Years in Prison for Sex Crimes

R. Kelly Reportedly Denied Conjugal Visits With Both Girlfriends

For the first time, R. Kelly in a courtroom was for sentencing. Appearing at a Brooklyn Courthouse, R. Kelly was sentenced to 30 years in prison.

According to The New York Times, R. Kelly appeared in front of Judge Ann M. Donnelly wearing black eyeglasses and a khaki shirt. Donnelly presided over Kelly’s trial and addressed each count Kelly was convicted of, including racketeering and violation of the Mann Act, which outlaws interstate transportation of women and girls for “immoral purpose.” R. Kelly sat at the defense table and greeted the judge with “good morning.”

After his sentencing, Judge Donnelly stated, “the public has to be protected from behaviors like this.” R. Kelly declined a statement due to pending litigation. He confirmed his denial to the judge in court.

In a pre-sentencing memo, R. Kelly was stated to use his fame and money to “conceal his crimes.”

“He continued his crimes and avoided punishment for them for almost 30 years and must now be held to account,” the US Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York wrote in the memo.

R. Kelly is represented by Jennifer Bonjean, who also represented Bill Cosby, and asked for a sentence of under 14 years. Bonjean also argued that R. Kelly’s sentence should “not [be] based on inflamed emotions,” but instead on the nature of the charges. During the sentencing, six women testified to the horrors of their experiences with the R&B star. Bonjean also advocated for R. Kelly’s upbringing, citing he was sexually abused as a child and lived in an unstable environment.

R. Kelly is also facing trial in Chicago federal court for child pornography and obstruction charges in August. He is expected to be transferred back to his hometown after sentencing.
