Benny The Butcher Shares Advice For Young Rappers Wanting To Work With Him

Benny The Butcher had some wise words of advice for his followers on Instagram, Sunday night, telling any rappers who want to collaborate with him that being a hard worker is more important than talent. Benny shared the advice on his Instagram story in a short video speaking directly to his fans.

“I don’t wanna hear that you better than a n***a. Don’t tell me that,” the Griselda rapper says in his post. “Tell me you work harder than somebody. Tell me you more focused than a motherfucker. Tell me you got a better gameplan than a motherfucker. I don’t wanna hear that you better than nobody because talent don’t matter in this shit.”

Whatever Benny is looking for in a collaborator, Gary rapper Freddie Gibbs certainly didn’t have it, as he recently remarked that their collaborations “came and went.” The comments were made amidst an ongoing beef between the two rappers that culminated in Gibbs getting jumped by alleged associates of Benny’s while in Buffalo, earlier this month.

On Friday, Benny appeared on The Beat with Ari Melber, where he reflected on the recent mass shooting in his hometown, revealing that his own daughter is traumatized by the incident.

“People are afraid to go to the grocery stores,” he said. “My daughter hasn’t been going to school since that happened. So it’s like, that’s the last thing we need (the Uvalde shooting). We got to find a way to protect ourselves and situations like that.”

AD Describes Having A Heated Run-In With Kendrick Lamar When They First Met

AD says that Kendrick Lamar mistook him for being “from a different hood” when they first met, resulting in an intense stand-off in the studio. The Compton rapper discussed meeting the Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers rapper during an interview with No Jumper over the weekend.

“You want to know a crazy thing about Kendrick [Lamar], bro?” AD said. “My first encounter with him he thought I was somebody else. He lowkey tried to press me.”

He continued: “I guess some n****s jumped him back in the day. And I came to the studio and he was mad. He was like, ‘You from Almond block?’ And I was like, ‘Nahh.’ Almond Block is another hood in Compton. He was like, ‘You is from Almond Block’ and I was like, ‘Nah I’m over here,’ and we were cool after that. But he was mad like, if I was from Almond Block, he would’ve got his get back on me that day.”

AD added that he was outnumbered, with mixing engineer Derek “Mixedbyali” Ali being his only associate with him. However, the rapper says he wouldn’t have backed down from Lamar had things turned violent.

The comments come after Lamar recently dropped his first solo full-length album since 2017 in the form of Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers. The project sold close to 300K units in its first week, landing it on top of the Billboard charts.

Growing up a fan of the late NBA legend, Tatum was lucky enough to be able to train with Bryant prior to his passing. Tatum discussed the influence his idol had on his during an appearance on Beyond the Press in 2021.

“One of the many things I took from him that always stuck with me,” Tatum said at the time. “He kind of just asked me one day, “How much does it mean to you?” and that kind of put things in perspective. How much does being great or being a champion, or, whatever, what are you willing to give up? What are you willing to do to sacrifice? And, I think that was kind of the motto he lived by.”

He continued: “Everyone wants to win. I want to be a champion. I want to be an MVP and want to be one of the greatest to ever play, Hall of Fame. That’s something I’m actively working on.”

The Celtics will take on the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals. Game 1 is scheduled for June 2 at 9:00 PM, ET.
