Lucky Daye Unveils The Release Date And Cover Art For His Upcoming Album, ‘Candy Drip’

It only took a few years for Lucky Daye to become one of the prominent voices of modern R&B. In 2019, Daye released his debut album, Painted, which became one of the best R&B releases of that year and scored multiple Grammy nominations. He’s also landed collaborations with the likes of Babyface, Ari Lennox, Wale, Ty Dolla Sign, and more. After dropping his EP Table For Two in 2021, Daye is ready to grace the world with his sophomore album, which he spoke about recently.

Daye previously announced that his sophomore album would be titled Candy Drip after he released its title track back in December. Now, he’s confirmed it will arrive on March 10. He also unveiled the cover art, which displays a close-up picture of Daye, who’s covered in some sticky liquid that looks a lot like honey. The announcement arrives after Daye shared “NWA” with Lil Durk, which is the second single from the forthcoming album.

Shortly after Candy Drip arrives, Daye will head out on a North American tour with singer Joyce Wrice. It kicks off March 18 in Portland, Oregon, and continues for a little over a month before coming to an end in New York City on April 25.

Candy Drip is out 3/10 via Keep Cool and RCA. You can pre-save it here.

Rick Ross Says Nipsey Hussle And Young Dolph’s Deaths Are ‘Equivalent Or Greater’ To That Of Biggie And Tupac’s

Last fall marked the 25th anniversary of Tupac’s death. Meanwhile, next month will mark the 25th anniversary of The Notorious B.I.G.’s death. Since their deaths, hip-hop has experienced the loss of other major rappers. Some examples include Nipsey Hussle and Young Dolph, who were shot and killed in 2019 and 2021, respectively.During a recent interview with HotNewHipHop, Rick Ross spoke about how impactful their deaths were to this generation.

“Losing Nipsey and Dolph for this generation, I’m sure, was just as equivalent or greater to what [Notorious] B.I.G. or ‘Pac was for my generation,” he said. Nipsey was shot and killed outside of his Marathon Clothing store in South Los Angeles back in 2019 and Young Dolph was murdered inside of Makeda’s Homemade Butter Cookies in Memphis last fall. Rick Ross collaborated with Nipsey and Dolph throughout their careers and he even tried to sign Nipsey to his label, Maybach Music Group, at one point.

Rick Ross’ comments come after dropped a video for “Little Havana” with The-Dream — a track from his recently-released eleventh album RIcher Than I Ever Been.

GRIP Shoots Down Weak Rappers’ Chances For Success On “Emo Stick”

A stickler for slick lyrics and rhymes, GRIP isn’t one to slack or take a line off. He boasts a prominent yet subtle intensity and intention, delivering each bar with a stark purpose. Poised and prepared, “Emo Stick” is a standalone lyrical exercise displaying some of the traits and talents GRIP has at his disposal. It isn’t a very serious track from a content/depth standpoint, opting for a showcase of ability instead (which is entirely acceptable and more than enjoyable).

One very noticable thing about GRIP’s delivery and overall sonic profile is his affiliation with Shady Records. His sound fits perfectly into the longstanding Shady Records and Interscope puzzle. What separates him from some prior Shady Records signees is his variety and layered topics, prevalent in his projects. Recent bodies of work like Snubnose and I Died For This!? offer heartfelt entries alongside the wit and wordplay, demonstrating why a well-rounded approach can garner more genuine connection and intention.

“Emo Stick,” though, as a simple single, does what it was meant to do: send a message to those who believe they’re on his level. GRIP, for one, wholeheartedly disagrees.

Quotable Lyric

A local throwing jabs but, sh*t, I know this n*gga lame,
What, your sh*t flopped? So now you gotta troll to get a name?
Better than who? Boy, ya moment was over when it came,
You see the lows that n*ggas stoop to for exposure in this game?

Mooski Lets His “Soul Bleed” On New Single

When Mooski released his June 2020 single “Track Star,” little did he know that the song would explode on TikTok and make him one of R&B’s most exciting young stars. “Track Star” now has more than 73 million Spotify streams and earned a remix with Yung Bleu, Chris Brown and A Boogie wit da Hoodie.

Both the OG version and the remix will land on Mooski’s upcoming debut album Melodic Therapy 4 The Broken, set to drop on March 11. As he continues to rollout the project, he has been locked in dropping more promotional singles. On Feb. 18, Mooski delivered “Soul Bleed,” a melancholic and dramatic cut that pains a clearer picture of the heartbreak this album will touch on.

With a piano beat similar to contemporaries like Rod Wave, Mooski croons about having to cope with rejection, using partying and alcohol to heal the wounds on his soul.

On Wednesday (Feb. 23), Mooski came out with the visuals for “Soul Bleed,” which provide a fitting depiction of him hitting the club to drown his sorrows.

Quotable Lyrics
Shawty broke my heart and made my soul bleed, if you know me, you know I’ma play it lowkey (Yeah, yeah, yeah)
I forced myself to hit the party on them hoes, see
I hit that Henn, then I get in my feelings O.D
Oh me, I feel deprеssion creepin’ on me (I feel it in the air)
Shawty tried to tеll me she was for me

Kanye West Wants Kim Kardashian to Prove He’s Behind Social Media Attacks

Kanye West is doing whatever he can to prevent Kim Kardashian from becoming legally single.

Earlier this week, he filed documents to make his social media posts attacking Kim, Pete Davidson, and others inadmissible in next week’s hearing.

He argues that Kim can’t prove that he wrote the posts, which she said caused her “emotional distress.”

“Kim claims she read something online allegedly by Kanye and characterizes the posts in her declaration as misinformation,” says Ye’s lawyer, according to TMZ.

While the documents don’t explicitly state that Ye didn’t write the posts, Ye wants Kim to provide evidence. “Kim needed to offer the social media posts into evidence, and show that the posts were written by Kanye,” adds Ye’s attorney.

The docs challenge the validity of the prenup, citing a presumption in California that prenups signed after 2001 are invalid. The only way they can be validated is either during a trial or if both parties agree.

Ye appears to be trying to prevent Kim from becoming legally single. He previously filed docs saying he would agree under the condition that all assets be temporarily frozen. However, she says they have a prenup which keeps all their trusts and other assets separate, and she needs access to her trust to run her businesses.

Despite Ye’s attempts, it appears unlikely the judge will stop Kim from restoring her single status. It is a routine procedure to separate division of assets from marital status.
