Dave East Buys His First Store, Thanks Nipsey Hussle For Inspiration

Dave East’s biggest inspiration has always been Nipsey Hussle. One of Nipsey’s crowning achievements in his life, and unfortunately the place he was slain, was his Marathon Clothing store in his hometown Los Angeles.

Influenced by this entrepreneurship, East decided he wanted to be a store owner himself. On Tuesday (Nov. 30), Dave announced that he had bought his first store in his hometown of Harlem. The New York rapper thanked his realtor and Nipsey for the help and motivation to secure the shop: “Bought My First Store Today. I Told Nipsey He Laid The Blueprint For Real Ones Everywhere. Wish Shooter Could See This Shit. Coming Soon 2022. Couldn’t Have Made This Happen Without @queenofharlem The Realest!!!”

While the photos Dave took in the store show that the establishment may need some cosmetic work done, he said it will open in 2022. East smiled while holding the keys to the shop, as he adds a facet of business to his busy life as a prominent hip-hop artist.

Dave East’s relationship with Nipsey Hussle was a close one, as he has a large tattoo of Nip on his back in honor of himThe duo actually had a collaborative album in the works before Hussle was fatally shot in the summer of 2019. Dave had contemplated putting out the joint project for some time, but eventually decided against it.

Now though, the store Dave will operate can help preserve the spirit of Nipsey Hussle, helping to provide for their respective hometown communities. Check out the photos and video of Dave East’s new store below.

Miami Heat Twitter Account Responds To NBA’s Tampering Punishment

The Miami Heat and their verified Twitter account responded to being reprimanded by the NBA recently, after punishments were handed down following tampering violations between the Heat and Chicago Bulls, this offseason. Reportedly, during their process in bringing in Toronto’s Kyle Lowry, the Heat were punished for their actions of potential foul play. On Twitter, the Heat issued their response, simply saying:

“While we disagree, we accept the league’s decision. We are moving on with our season.”

According to their tone on Twitter, the Heat do not seem to be losing much sleep over loss of a second round pick in compliance with the NBA’s punishment. Also, the punishment itself isn’t necessarily as severe as one would imagine for an accusation like this, likely to the relief of Heat fans who have enjoyed Lowry’s services to this point this season, anyways.

Through the Miami Heat’s first 21 games this year, Lowry is currently averaging 12.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, 7.7 assists, and 1.2 steals a game in his first season in South Beach. The 13-8 Heat currently sit in third place atop the Eastern Conference, with Lowry and their leading scorer Jimmy Butler, who is averaging 23.6 points per game.

The NBA surely knows most teams walk a ‘thin line’ when it comes to abiding by the league’s tampering regulations, and even with this recent example of the Heat and their response on Twitter, it doesn’t appear as if anything will drastically change anytime soon.

Khalid Prepares To Take A ‘Scenic Drive’ With The Fashion-Forward ‘Present’ Video

R&B wunderkind Khalid has returned with the video for his new, mellow jam as he prepares to release a mixtape to hold fans over until his next album. After announcing that Scenic Drive would drop this Friday, December 3, the 23-year-old has released the video for “Present,” which he originally released toward the end of October.

Rather than plotting out a high-concept video, Khalid instead chose to have fun in the clip for “Present,” offering a laid-back smoke session with a troupe of beautiful, well-dressed dancers. The initial staging presents Khalid and his dancers as works of art, like classical statues before they come alive to run through joyful choreography and blow smoke in the air. Their costuming suggests that the baggy look favored by gen Z remains firmly in fashion, with quilted coats, tech vests, and billowy sweatpants aplenty adorning them as they grin their way through their uptempo dances.

Fans expecting Khalid’s new music to harken back to his impressive and beloved debut American Teen might be disappointed, though. In October, he explained why his music necessarily evolved to suit his life circumstances, telling a curious fan on Twitter, “I’m a whole 23 almost 24 years old, American Teen is not happening again.”

Watch Khalid’s “Present” video above.

Scenic Drive is out 12/3 on Right Hand Music Group/RCA Records. You can pre-save it here.

Stephen A. Smith Lets Out Chilling Scream After Knicks Loss

If you watch a lot of Stephen A. Smith, then you know he is a huge New York Knicks fan. While he has been known to criticize the team quite heavily, it is only because he loves the franchise so much, and wants to see them be successful. Having said all of that, the Knicks have actually been quite good over the past couple of seasons, and Smith is loving every second of it.

Last night, the Knicks had the opportunity to make a statement as they took on the Brooklyn Nets, who are first in the Eastern Conference. Unfortunately, they ended up losing by two points as Julius Randle was handed a technical foul late in the game. It was a truly rough loss that weighed heavily on Smith.

In fact, the First Take host took to Twitter where he unleashed a blood-curdling scream as the Knicks lost. He then went on to comment that this was a game the Knicks could have won and that they needed to do a better job late.

The Knicks are 11-10 to start this season, which isn’t going to be good enough as the Eastern Conference is stacked this year. There are a ton of teams vying for those last few playoff spots, and it remains to be seen whether or not the Knicks will actually be able to maintain consistency and get back to the postseason for the second-straight year.

In the meantime, Stephen A. Smith is just going to have to hold onto his hat during what should prove to be a bumpy ride.

Ja Morant Shows Love To Klay Thompson Ahead Of Comeback

Klay Thompson hasn’t played an NBA game since the 2019 Finals, and fans are ready for him to step back on the court again. After recovering from ACL and Achilles injuries, Thompson is almost back and the Warriors expect him to be in the lineup within the month. Having said that, the league is extremely excited to see Thompson out there again, especially when you consider just how talented he is at shooting the ball.

His return should scare opposing teams, especially when you consider just how good the Warriors are already. Even with that being the case, there are players around the league who are excited to see Thompson come back. One such individual is Ja Morant of the Memphis Grizzlies, who briefly mentioned Thompson’s comeback on Twitter, yesterday.

He makes the Warriors extremely fun, and when reunited with Steph Curry, we are surely in for some fireworks.

It remains to be seen when Thompson will make his grand return to action, so stay tuned to HNHH for all of the latest updates regarding that situation.

Quavo, Offset & Kid Cudi Walk In Virgil Abloh’s Memorial Louis Vuitton Show

Last night (Nov. 30), many of Virgil Abloh’s colleagues and friends gathered to watch his final collection hit the runway. After his passing Sunday (Nov. 28), some of the rap industry’s most prominent and influential artists all listed Abloh as a huge inspiration for them.

So, a good amount of these peers returned the favor for Virgil’s guidance in their lives by attending the Miami Louis Vuitton “Virgil Was Here” Spring/Summer 2022 collection showcase. In fact, two-thirds of the Migos in Quavo and Offset walked during the show as models, along with Kid Cudi and many others.

Quavo sported a glistening silver jacket and pair of pants, also covering his face in a black-and-white checkered mask. He also carried with him a bulky silver chest in his hand as he strutted down the runway.

Offset’s fit was regal, as he wore a blueish/indigo colored tracksuit and top hat over a black turtleneck and shiny chains. Also carrying an even larger chest in his hand, Offset rocked stylish sunglasses with a calm demeanor as he made his way down the stage.

Of the three, Kid Cudi’s look was the most vibrant, as he was drenched in lime green from head-to-toe. His green colored shaved head matched his fuzzy sweater which was two different shades of green. His baggy, bright green pants flowed as he walked the runway.

This was a full-circle moment for Cudi, as one of his early experiences on a runway was at Virgil’s first 2018 Louis Vuitton show. Abloh always found a way to incorporate his industry friends in his projects.

After the showcase, Kid Cudi put on a short performance, singing “Moon” off of Kanye West’s recent Donda album, which also included Ye and Don Toliver on the original cut.

The night was an overwhelming success, as most of Virgil’s dearest friends showed out to support his life’s work after his tragic passing.

Azzi Fudd said, via ESPN, “Since I first met Steph at his camp a few years ago, I’ve stayed connected to him and have always admired his incredible talent and accomplishments, but also his humility and the impact he has on people. As I continue to focus on becoming the best player and student I can be while in college, I also look forward to broadening my understanding of business and life beyond basketball. This partnership with Steph and his SC30 team will help me do that. I’m really excited about everything we’ll do together in the future.”

Stephen Curry also expressed excitement and confidence in bringing Azzi on to the brand, saying:

“For me, this is the right time because I have identified the platforms that I have, aligning purpose over profit, and the ability to collaborate with the right partners for the right opportunities. I want to be able to unlock that for Azzi, and for other talented athletes and influencers that see the world the same way I do.”

With Azzi Fudd’s talent and aspirations, and someone like Curry in her corner, the sky is the limit for the young basketball star.

Steph Curry Reacts To One Of The Worst Games Of His Career

Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors went into last night’s game against the Phoenix Suns as the best team in the entire NBA. With their 18-2 record, many felt like they would defeat the Suns, who were due for a loss after coming into the game on a 16-match win streak. In the end, however, it was the Suns who came away with the big win as they held Steph Curry to just 12 points.

It was one of the worst games of Curry’s career, and afterward, he told reporters about how it felt. Mark Haynes of ClutchPoints even posted a clip to Twitter that showcases Curry talking about turnovers and how there were a lot of things he could have done better throughout the game.

“Early in the first half, we were rushing a lot of possessions, and you could call them unforced turnovers. When there are other options out there, and we’re kind of just throwing it around,” Curry said. This loss is only their third of the season, and that’s without Klay Thompson in the lineup. Needless to say, the Warriors are going to be just fine.

As for the Suns, they have won 17 games in a row, and they have taken over first place in the Western Conference, and by extension, the entire league. After a Finals appearance last year, the Suns seem ready to continue their reign of dominance.

Bad Bunny Takes The Lead As Spotify’s Most-Streamed Artist Globally In 2021

It’s that time of the year again — Spotify Wrapped is here. While many are spending the first day of December decorating for the holidays, music lovers around the globe are checking their Spotify account to see a round up of their most-streamed artists, albums, and songs of the year. The data shows that Olivia Rodrigo had a massive year, as she had the most-streamed song and album worldwide. But there was another artist whose music was streamed the most times around the world on the platform: Bad Bunny.

Thanks to Bad Bunny’s prolific songwriting, the Puerto Rican rapper received the most streams on Spotify out of any other artist around the world. According to Spotify’s data, rapper was streamed 9.1 billion times globally this year, an impressive feat for an artist who didn’t even release an album in 2021. Following behind Bad Bunny in worldwide streaming numbers is Taylor Swift at No. 2, BTS at No. 3, Drake at No. 4, and Justin Bieber at No. 5.

When Bad Bunny found out the news, he still remained humble. The musician said he makes music for the love of it and his goal was never to be the most-streamed artists around the world.

While Bad Bunny may have been the top-streamed artist around the globe, the stats look a little different in the US. Bad Bunny was the fifth-most-streamed artist on Spotify in the US, while Drake took the No. 1 slot. Taylor Swift was behind Drake while Juice WRLD came in at No. 3 and Kanye West at No. 4.
