Damian Lillard To Miss Over A Week With Abdominal Injury: Report

Damian Lillard is one of the best point guards in the entire NBA, and he is instrumental to the success of the Portland Trail Blazers, who have always struggled whenever he isn’t in the lineup. This season has been one of trial and error for the Blazers who are constantly trying to figure out which lineups are the best. Head coach Chauncey Billups has a lot to figure out right now and moving forward, it seems as though the Blazers will have to deal with some added adversity.

Over the last few weeks, Lillard has complained of an abdominal issue that has plagued him for quite some time now. Now, Lillard is taking an extra step in regards to this injury, as he will officially take some time away from the team.

According to Shams Charania of Stadium and The Athletic Lillard will miss at least 10 days of action as he has been diagnosed with abdominal tendinopathy. This certainly explains his abdominal issues, and hopefully, for Lillard, this change will allow him to get the rest he needs in order to come back better than ever before.

A lot of players have been getting some injuries as of late, and it’s been a bit hard to explain. Of course, over the course of an 82-game season, things like this are bound to happen.

Young Thug Fans Fall Victim To Internet Rumor In Walmart Check Out

Rumors circulate the internet so easily, it’s sometimes hard to differentiate what’s real and what isn’t. Unfortunately for a group of Young Thug fans, they were duped into thinking that the rapper would cover their holiday bill at Walmart this week. A rumor began to circulate online that Thug was going to pay for everyone’s purchase at Walmart. However, once people packed their shopping carts with items, Thug was nowhere to be found.

A video was shared on Instagram of a man showing people flocking Walmart and packing their carts with items like TVs and other electronics. “We out here, bitch. We waitin’ on Thug,” the individual in the video says. “Thug, man, you better bring your ass up here, man, ’cause this shit here is a catastrophe.”

Thug nor his PR team ever made an announcement that he would be doing this, though it wouldn’t be surprising if he did. Unfortunately, it seems like people didn’t get the shopping spree they thought they were going to get.

Thug has shown his generosity over the years, though. Earlier this year, Young Thug and Gunna teamed up to help post bail for low-level offenders at the Fulton County Jail so they could be reunited with their loved ones.

Kevin Gates Switches It Up On His New Single “Move”

It feels like Kevin Gates could be readying a new studio album in the near future. Throughout the year, he’s blessed fans with loose singles, a handful of freestyles, and of course, Only The Generals II. However, the recent press run he’s been on might be an indication that a new album could be on the way.

Gates’s sound has been consistent throughout his career, which is why he remains one of the most trusted artists from the South. However, his latest song might throw you for a loop. The rapper unveiled “Move” on Wednesday, which brings his powerful melodies to a dancehall-influenced production for a feel-good anthem. It’s an unexpected release but one that could very well help open up international doors for Kevin Gates.

Check out his new single below.

Moses Sumney Releases The Breezy ‘In Bloom (In The Woods)’ And No, It’s Not A Nirvana Cover

Come December 8th, Moses Sumney will be out with a new concert film entitled Blackalachia. Set in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina, it was filmed in the fall of 2020, when playing in front of live crowds was something we all weren’t sure of when would happen again. Part of WeTranfer’s Wepresent series, the 67-minute set sees Sumney playing songs off of both Græ and Aromanticism, along with some new material, which is what brings us here today.

On “In Bloom (In The Woods),” Sumney operates with a renewed comfort vocally. Perhaps it’s the bucolic setting, but there’s a distinct peace-of-mind in his delivery as he sings over gorgeous strings and a modest beat. You can almost hear the insects chirping in the background of the audience-less recording. The film itself obviously stars Sumney, but it was also directed by him. “Over the course of two days, we filmed 14 songs, totally live, the trees as our audience, the grasshoppers our background singers,” Sumney said in a statement. “The film is a wild imagining of what can happen when we seek not just to reclaim nature, but to reintegrate with it.”

Lizzo Films Herself Creating A For-Sale Painting Using Her Booty As A Paint Brush

International art fair Art Basel is once again taking place in person in Miami this year. Along with exhibitions from artists across the globe, this year’s event will also feature a special musical performance by none other than Lizzo. To promote her upcoming set this weekend, Lizzo got creative. Taking inspiration from the experimental nature of the works seen at Art Basel, Lizzo made a painting of a butterfly using her booty as a paint brush.

The singer shared a video showing the painting’s process on TikTok. “Hey y’all, it’s your girl Lizzy Picasso here,” she announced, adopting the new moniker to create her masterpiece. The video shows Lizzo creating her colorful painting on an easel before an assistant lathers her backside in royal blue paint.

“I think I need to make more ass art,” she wrote in the caption alongside her video.

A Wu-Tang Clan Biopic Backed By Leonardo DiCaprio Was Shot Down By RZA, According To Raekwon

Although biographical films about hip-hop pioneers have become a hot commodity in recent years — just see Straight Outta Compton, Roxanne, Roxanne, and Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B for proof — one group that has yet to see its story adapted to the big screen is Wu-Tang Clan, which instead has been recounting its origin in the Hulu original series Wu-Tang: An American Saga. However, according to group member Raekwon, the group did come close thanks to an unlikely ally: Leonardo DiCaprio.

In an excerpt of Raekwon’s upcoming memoir From Staircase To Stage: The Story Of Raekwon And Wu-Tang Clan published on Rolling Stone today, Raekwon detailed his efforts to produce a Wu-Tang film with DiCaprio’s help — and how RZA ultimately shut those plans down in favor of the television series concept.

“We started talking about the possibility of a Wu-Tang movie and I told Leo I’d love to see him play a role in it, anything he wanted to do,” Rae recounts of meeting the actor at what he calls “an old mafioso-looking pizza spot.” “He talked about his production company and all the directors he thought might do a great job — and these were big names and people he’d worked with.”

However, Rae recalls, “RZA’s energy was entirely different. He barely said anything and seemed to be going through the motions, nothing more. I could tell he wasn’t going to agree to do it, and my instincts told me why: my guess is that he was already in bed with a production company, deep into developing the scripted series for TV, even though none of us had signed off on it.”

The “Ice Cream” rapper said the move hurt his feelings “because it proved to me that he’d already counted me out before I began. He didn’t think I could bring that kind of power to the table, but I’d gotten them there, all ready to rock and roll.” Eventually, though, the TV show plans went ahead and the show itself has become a well-received success, so even if Raekwon’s movie idea could have been a winner, it looks like the story was told how it needed to be after all.

Lil Tjay Shares A Somber Holiday Single With “Christmas In A Cell”

Thanksgiving just passed, December is here, and the Christmas season is right around the corner. It’s a time when Mariah Carey is an inescapable force on radio and streaming services, and most people get ready to wind down and spend some time with their family. While it’s regarded as a joyous season, not everyone gets the opportunity to spend time with their friends and family during this time.

This week, Lil Tjay delivered a new holiday single dedicated to those who will be incarcerated this Christmas titled, “Christmas In A Cell.” Serving as his follow-up to “Not In The Mood” with Fivio Foreign and Kay Glock, Lil Tjay offers a vulnerable take on the pain of having loved ones locked up during the holidays. He also brings a personal perspective stemming from his own experiences.

Hip-hop has its fair share of holiday anthems, from Jim Jones holiday album to Run DMC’s “Christmas In Hollis” but Lil Tjay’s offering provides a much-needed perspective to represent those that won’t be able to be surrounded by family this holiday season.

Check the song out below.

Quotable Lyrics
Free my n***as locked down this Christmas
Remember bein’ locked down on Christmas
Remember bein’ in that cell
I was prayin’ someone save me, Lord wish me well

Mac Miller Overdose Case: One Supplier Claims He Didn’t Know What Was In The Pills That Killed Him

Mac Miller’s death in early September 2018 rocked the hip-hop world. As an open drug user, Mac’s death due to overdose left a wound in the rap community that has yet to be healed.

It was soon revealed that the fatal pills that killed Mac were laced with fentanyl. The suppliers of the pills have since been identified, and their court proceedings began this fall.

By early November, two of the three suppliers involved, Ryan Michael Reavis and Stephen Andrew Walter, had pled guilty to felony counts of distributing fentanyl. The third supplier, Cameron James Pettit, who was the one who directly sold the “blue” pills to Mac Miller, still has his case pending.

During a court hearing yesterday (Nov. 30), Stephen Andrew Walter claimed he did not know the pills had fentanyl in them, although the prosecutors disagreed: “I was charged with selling blue pills, little blue counterfeit oxycontin pills … and I didn’t know what was in them. I didn’t know, like, fentanyl was in it. But I do say, yes, that I aided and abetted the transaction.I never met [Miller] before. I only talked to Cameron [James Pettit]. I didn’t know what his intentions were with the pills. After he saw Ryan Reavis, I didn’t know what he was going to do with them.”

Walter provided the pills to Ryan Michael Reavis, who then provided them to Cameron James Pettit to sell to Mac. When asked if he wanted to change his original not guilty plea to guilty, Reavis confirmed: “Yes, thank you.”

Pettit had agreed to a deal with Mac that he was going to sell him cocaine, xanax and 10 oxycodone pills, which were the ones filled with fentanyl. He died two days after the purchase.

Walter and Reavis’ sentencing take place on March 7, 2022 and April 4, 2022 respectively, as they both face a maximum of 20 years in prison, a lifetime of supervised release and a $1 million fine. The main supplier Pettit’s fate has yet to be determined.

We will continue to keep you posted with any updates on the criminal case surrounding Mac Miller’s 2018 overdose.

Houston Man Sentenced To 9 Years After Spending $900K In Fraudulent Loans On Strippers & A Lambo

30-year-old Lee Price III has been sentenced to 9 years and 2 months in prison after fraudulently obtaining over $1.6 million in COVID-19 Paycheck Protection Program loans, according to CBS News

Price plead guilty to charges of wire fraud and money laundering back in September, following his decision to send loan applications to two different lenders for $2.6 million. The criminal reportedly received $1.6 million, and promptly bought himself a Lamborghini Urus, a Ford F-350, a Rolex, spent $700 at the liquor store, $2,500 at night clubs, and paid off a property loan. It wasn’t long after that DOJ took back $700,000 of the initial amount.

As Complex points out, some reports say that Price spent $2,000 at a single strip club, but others have shared news that he “blew thousands at multiple [venues].”

If you’re wondering how he secured his bag, the Houston man allegedly created false expenses and employee numbers for three businesses (one of which he named “Price Enterprises”), claiming they had multiple employees and a monthly payroll average of $375,000. Authorities have since made it known that there was no indication Price has ever hired anyone or had a payroll for the “business.”

“Mr. Price hopes that others will learn from his reckoning that there is no easy money,” his lawyer, Tom Berg, told the Washington Post in an email. “He has the balance of the 110-month sentence to reflect, repent and rebuild his misspent life.” Back in 2010, Price was convicted of forgery, and in 2011, robbery. CBS News has also shared that he’s currently being accused of “tampering with a government record in Texas.”

Dave Chappelle’s High School Moves Forward With Renaming Its Theater After Him

Dave Chappelle’s latest Netflix comedy special, The Closer, has brought many prevalent issues to the forefront of popular culture since its release, including racism, transphobia, and the dangers of PC and cancel culture. His jokes about the trans community as well as the LGTBQ community as a whole have especially caused division amongst viewers and critics, and a fundraiser at his old high school was subsequently canceled following a threatened walkout by its current students. Dave Chappelle eventually visited the Duke Ellington School of the Arts in Washington, D.C. to hear out the students’ grievances, and shortly thereafter, it was reported that the Q&A session didn’t go too well.

According to Complex, Duke Ellington has officially decided that it will proceed with renaming its theater in Dave Chappelle’s honor, despite the backlash from some of its students. Its decision comes days after Chappelle encouraged his critics and supporters to let their money speak for them through donations to the school.

“If you object to my receiving this honor, I urge you to donate to the school, noting your object,” Chappelle stated in an Instagram post last week. “If you are in favor of the theater being named ‘Chappelle,’ I urge you to donate to the school, noting your approval. Whichever opinion donates the highest collective dollar amount, wins.”

Check out the Chappelle’s Show creator’s full statement below.

The school has also issued a statement on the matter, in which they commend Dave Chappelle’s Instagram funding initiative while making it clear that the theater will be renamed after the comedian in April 2022, regardless of any opinionated donations.

“While we appreciate Dave’s impromptu and spirited fundraising initiative, we stand behind our decision to honor the wishes of our co-founder, the late Peggy Cooper Cafritz, to name the theatre after Chappelle,” the Duke Ellington School of the Arts’ statement reads. “All donations will go towards arts programming and every donor, irrespective of their support or opposition to the theater naming, will receive an official thank you from our team.”

“Chappelle cares deeply about Ellington and its students and regards them as family. He made an unannounced visit before the Thanksgiving break to meet with his Ellington family and to hear directly from the few students who have concerns about his recent comedy special, The Closer,” the statement continues. “While there has been extensive media coverage about the theatre naming and Chappelle’s most recent visit to the school, the source stories that have gone viral have been inaccurate, devoid of context, and neglected to include the nuances of art.”

Justifying its decision once more, the school’s statement reads, “As an art institution, we educate our students on the importance of media literacy and art as a free and open form of expression to both reflect and challenge society.”

How do you feel about the school’s ultimate decision to continue with the renaming of its theater after Dave Chappelle?
