Yungeen Ace Gets Introspective On “Caterpillars To Butterflies”

When Yungeen Ace exploded onto the scene earlier in 2021 after his appearance on SpinaBenz’ viral record “Who I Smoke,” the world was given a window into the streets of Jacksonville, FL and the ongoing and violent beef between Ace and rival rapper Foolio.

However, in the months since “Who I Smoke” hit the airwaves, Ace has shown a side of himself the world never know. Between encouraging kids to stay out of the streets, and landing an appearance on Rick Ross’ upcoming album, Richer Than I Ever Been, the 23-year-old is slowly ascending into a higher tier of hip hop, and is backing it up with the music.

Just a few weeks after dropping 2 Broken 2 Heal with Nuski2Squad, Yungeen Ace is back with an inspirational record, titled “Caterpillars To Butterflies.”

Over uplifting, piano-heavy production, Ace puts his versatility on full display. Shifting between rapped verses and sung bridges and choruses, the Jacksonville rapper gets introspective and reflects on his journey from the trenches to a major player in Florida’s hip hop scene.

Quotable Lyrics
I’m sorry I just need some therapy
But when it’s time to open up I close in deeply
I’m learning life firsthand no one to lecture me
When I be home be fighting my thoughts can’t seem to get sleep

Nick Cannon’s Youngest Son Zen Dies Of Brain Cancer

Nick Cannon revealed on Tuesday’s episode of his talk show that his youngest child, Zen Cannon, passed away at five months old with a rare case of brain cancer.

The 41-year-old comedian welcomed baby Zen into his life with Alyssa Scott back in June. On his show, Cannon revealed that he learned his youngest son was battling Hydrocephalus, a rare cancer that puts pressure on the brain.

“I always noticed he had a cough and so I wanted to check it out,” said Cannon about his son. “He had this interesting breathing and by the time he was two months I noticed he had this nice sized head too — a Cannon head. We didn’t think anything of it. But I wanted to take him to the doctor for his sinus and breathing. We thought it would be routine.”

The family quickly realized that this was more serious than they could have imagined. Zen had brain surgery to drain the fluid but things seemingly got worse over Thanksgiving.

“This weekend I made an effort to spend the most quality time with Zen. We woke up on Sunday and went to the ocean with him and Alyssa and then I had to fly back to New York for the show,” said a few weeks ago. “I got a call on my way to the airport to head back to Zen.”

He went on to tell the audience that he held his son for the last time this weekend before dedicating the show to Zen.

Zen was Nick Cannon’s seventh child. This is a pain that is unimaginable to so many people, and our thoughts are with Nick Cannon, Alyssa Scott, and their entire family during this extremely difficult time.

Top 30 Hottest Hip-Hop Albums Of 2021

Following yesterday’s unveiling of our Top 35 Hottest Hip-Hop Songs of 2021, we’re back with the expected companion piece for the Top 30 Hottest Hip-Hop Albums. After pretty much a full year of uncertainty, it seemed rappers were ready to get back into release mode in 2021, and all the trappings that come with it– namely, touring, festivals, merch, and the rest of the bag that was left on the table during the year prior. And, along with this minor resurgence in the artist and the artist’s profitability, we’ve, of course, been bestowed with plenty of new albums (these things go hand-in-hand, after all).

This list, then, culls some of the HNHH mainstays and favorites (think: Mick Jenkins, basically any and all of Griselda), as well as the genre’s most explosive artists of the year (think: Lil Nas X), and of course, some of our newest breakout faves (think: Baby Keem, Pooh Shiesty), and finally, some long-heralded OGs and soon-to-be-OGs-if-not-already (think: Nas, J. Cole, Drake). It’s safe to say the breadth of hip-hop releases allowed a “something for everyone” policy to truly thrive. Nonetheless, we’re sure you have an opinion on our list below, so do your duty as a loyal HNHH reader and comment away.

Stay tuned for our take on the Top 10 Hottest R&B Albums of 2021 to arrive tomorrow, Wednesday, December 15.

1,500 New Victims Have Filed Lawsuits Against Astroworld, Bringing The Total To Almost 3,000

Just days after the plaintiffs and defendants in the nearly 300 cases against the Astroworld Festival’s organizers agreed to consolidate those cases into one proceeding, another lawsuit was filed representing over 1,500 new plaintiffs, doubling the total to almost 2,800 people suing Live Nation and Travis Scott. Billboard reports that the massive group is represented by Brent Coon, a personal injury lawyer based in Beaumont, Texas. Coon’s press release announcing the suit read, “What happened at Astroworld was an unconscionable tragedy and it is important that justice is served for all those impacted,” but few details were revealed about the suit.

Meanwhile, Billboard also recently reported that with over 275 cases pending, the Astroworld organizers’ lawyers agreed with the plaintiffs’ representatives that all the cases would be consolidated under just one judge in order to simplify what is already a complex case. A filing read, “Transfer of all of these lawsuits to a single pretrial judge for consolidated and coordinated pretrial proceedings will eliminate duplicative discovery, conserve resources of the judiciary, avoid conflicting legal rulings and scheduling, and otherwise promote the just and efficient conduct of all actions.”

The new case will likely be folded into that same multi-district litigation. Meanwhile, Astroworld’s organizers have both secured their representation for the upcoming battle, with Live Nation tapping Susman Godfrey and Travis Scott securing Daniel Petrocelli, who previously defended Donald Trump against a fraud lawsuit over his real estate seminars.

NBA Reveals Strict COVID-19 Guidelines For All Games In Canada

COVID-19 guidelines have been fairly strict in the NBA as the league looks to protect players, staff, and even the fans. Not everyone is a fan of the rules, especially given the fact that these rules always include the need for vaccination. For instance, due to COVID guidelines in New York this year, Kyrie Irving hasn’t been able to suit up for the Brooklyn Nets.

Now, stricter guidelines are coming to Canada as the country is tightening up the border. The Toronto Raptors are the focal point of these guidelines, however, as Shams Charania reports, these new rules will effect every single team and player in the NBA.

In order to enter Canada to play games, all players and staff must be fully vaccinated. If they aren’t, they will not be able to participate. This new rule is set to begin on January 15th of next year, and there will not be a single exception to the rule. While there are only a few unvaccinated players left in the league, this is still a big deal as stars like Bradley Beal won’t be able to travel to Toronto, in the immediate future.

COVID guidelines are always changing, so stay tuned to HNHH as we will continue to bring you the latest updates from around the NBA.

Lil Uzi Vert Fan Graduates College After Rapper Promises To Pay His Tuition

It looks like Lil Uzi Vert will have to pay up if he wants to keep his end of the deal with Temple University student Raheel Ahmad, for whom he previously promised to pay tuition if he graduates. Well, in the next month, Ahmad is set to complete his studies, and now he’s reaching back out to the Philadelphia rapper to see if he’s down to attend his graduation ceremony.

After asking Lil Uzi to pay his $90,000 tuition a few years ago at a shopping mall, the video went viral and now it looks like the rapper will need to stick to his word… unless he wants to end up disappointing Ahmad à la Michael Scott.

In a new video, Ahmad invites Uzi to his convocation in the new year, telling his followers that he comes from a large family with a single, widowed mother and the money would mean the world to him. He says their family lived paycheck-to-paycheck and emphasized the importance of a college education, which is why Ahmad took his schooling so seriously. Now, he’s graduating with a 3.5 GPA and wants Uzi to come through and party with him at Temple.

Ahmad tells Uzi that their one-minute interaction in 2019 changed his life for the better, saying, “You have given me a sense of hope and optimism. Your acknowledgment and response to my ask for help has shifted my mindset completely to believe that there can be a light at the end of the tunnel.”

Ahmad says that he will be using his political science background to advocate for college tuition reform, arguing that higher education should not be so expensive in the United States since it is meant for the betterment of our futures.

He signed off by saying that dinner with his family is on him. Lil Uzi has not responded to Ahmad’s tweets yet. Do you think he’ll come through?

Jack Harlow Says He And Doja Cat Would Make A #1 Song Together

Jack Harlow is no stranger to the smooth red carpet callout

This summer, while Saweetie was being interviewed on the red carpet ahead of the 2021 BET Awards, Harlow caught her off-guard and introduced himself. The “Icy Girl” rapper deflected Harlow’s attempts at suaveness and called out his shaky hands, but Harlow assured that he was as cool as could be, and later on said that he and Saweetie are real friends

Over the weekend, Harlow appeared at Variety‘s Hitmakers Brunch in downtown Los Angeles. Before the event, an interviewer asked one of the most popular questions in music media—who would Harlow want to collaborate with?

Within seconds, the Thats What They All Say rapper had the perfect answer: Doja Cat.

“We’d make a number-one together,” he told the interviewer. “Doja, I know you know. Come on.”

While Harlow and Doja Cat have never gotten on wax together, it’s almost certain anything they put together would be a hit. Throughout 2020 and 2021, both rappers have ascended to insane heights and have become two of the biggest acts of the modern era. It’s yet to be seen if a collaboration is in the near future, or if it will ever happen at all, but after Harlow stopped by Doja’s birthday party back in October, and their respective relationships with Lil Nas X, it’s clear that there is a perspective connection there. And according to Harlow, that connection has the potential to experience a ton of success.

How would you feel about a Jack Harlow x Doja Cat collab? Let us know down in the comments.

Mac Jones Reacts After Defeating The Bills On Just 3 Pass Attempts

Bill Belichick has always been a genius when it comes to his game plans and last night, he showed off that genius yet again as the New England Patriots defeated the Buffalo Bills by a score of 14-10. The game was not pretty in the least as there were huge winds that made it almost impossible to pass the ball.

As a result of these winds, Belichick made it a point to only run the ball. Rookie quarterback Mac Jones only attempted three passes, and he completed two of them, for just 19 yards. He only managed but a few fantasy points, and it was truly one of the more remarkable wins in NFL history given the passing game.

Afterward, Jones spoke to reporters about what the game was like for him and how the winds affected everything.

“They were what they were,” Jones said per NFL.com. “For the offensive line to do what they did was incredible, they deserve all the credit in the world. And Josh for calling the plays that he called, knowing the environment. And knowing that, we knew we were going to be able to run the ball. The running backs ran hard; Rhamondre [Stevenson], Damien [Harris] and B [Brandon Bolden]. You couldn’t ask for better effort from those guys. It was just a crazy game to be a part of. We knew if we didn’t turn the ball over, we’d be good. It was just a weird day.”

Now, the Patriots have a record of 9-4 and appear to be at the top of the AFC standings. At this rate, they could be well on their way to another Super Bowl appearance, this time, without Tom Brady.

Yaya Mayweather Creeps Into NBA YoungBoy’s Clubhouse Room To “Stalk” Him

Baton Rouge rapper YoungBoy Never Broke Again has seemingly been bored out of his mind while on house arrest so he joined the social media platform Clubhouse, which allows him to connect with his fans through live audio calls. Following a conversation on the platform about his upcoming collaboration with Tekashi 6ix9ine, his crush on Doja Cat, and his listening habits, YoungBoy hosted another room on Clubhouse this weekend, which saw thousands of people flock to the app to listen to the misunderstood rapper’s musings.

One of his interactions from the room has gone viral as the mother of his son Kentrell Jr., Yaya Mayweather, was present on stage but she didn’t have a photo on her profile, which confused YoungBoy.

“Iyanna! Why you don’t have no picture or nothing?” asked the rapper.

“So I could stalk you,” she nervously responded with a laugh. “Ooo is right, I’m on here,” she then said to another woman in the group.

It took a minute for people to process that Yaya Mayweather was the person speaking but once they did, they greeted her like a queen.

Some people criticized her “stalker” response though, prompting Yaya to clarify on Instagram that she was joking and that her ex-boyfriend invited her into the room.

“I usually don’t care to clear things up but y’all DTM Kentrell added me to the chat on Clubhouse [confused emoji],” said Yaya.
