JayDaYoungan Offers To Pay Bills After Jail Employee Gets Fired For IG Photo

A day before Louisiana rapper JayDaYoungan was set to be released from the Tangipahoa Parish Jail, a jail employee took a photograph of him sitting in his cell. The next day, JayDaYoungan was released and posted the photo on Instagram for his 2.5 million followers to see.

The IG post has since been deleted but the unintentional damage it caused had already been done.

Once the Tangipahoa Parish Jail warden caught wind of the photo and the fact that one of their employees had taken it for the 23-year-old rapper, he took swift action.

“Upon being notified of the posting of the photo, we immediately investigated,” warden Capt. Heath Martin told The Advocate. “Investigations proved an employee took the picture just before his release. This employee was terminated for violating policy the same day.”

Making sure it was clear the employee was fired for violating policy and not a criminal action, the employee’s identity was not revealed.

JayDaYoungan, whose real name is Javorius Scott, was arrested on accessory to second-degree murder charges earlier this month and had spent four days in jail before posting his $175,000 bond.

The “23 Island” rapper has reportedly offered to pay the employees bills until they find another job, following the lead of 42 Dugg, who offered to pay an NYPD officer’s bills just last week, but we’ll see if that comes to fruition.

Either way, this is a crazy story and now there’s somebody unemployed all because of a quick IG pic.

Let us know what you think of this jail pic controversy in the comments and check out JayDaYounan’s HNHH In My Bag video below.

Joseph Chilliams Processes Recovering From A Traumatic Injury On ‘I Ain’t Been Outside’

Pivot Gang rapper Joseph Chilliams has had a relatively quiet couple of years aside from releasing the Sen Morimoto collaboration “Wishlist” toward the end of 2020. Part of the reason is a traumatic injury he recently endured that left him unable to return as quickly as he wished in 2021. The Chicago-bred rapper explains what happened on a new track, “I Ain’t Been Outside,” which describes the harrowing experience of both the initial event and his long road to recovery.

“Got sucker punched with a gun,” he tweeted, sharing the track to his followers. “I have a plate in my face forever now. Made a song about trying to recover.” On the downtempo track, he describes being put on narcotic painkillers, looking like Kanye (who suffered a broken jaw in a car crash in 2002), and losing weight as a result of “struggling to eat.” Even after being released from the hospital, he had to process light sensitivity and looking “out of place hopping around” on his way to the strip club with the rest of the Pivot Gang. “PTSD, pretty sure I need therapy,” he admits, “But tonight I’m just vibing at a party with my n****s and my shorty as I sing along merrily.”

Unfortunately, Joseph’s injury wasn’t the only tragedy the Pivot Gang suffered this year. In August, the group’s producer Squeak was shot to death in the North Austin neighborhood of Chicago at the age of 26. Hopefully, Joseph has a speedy recovery and the crew can get back on track after their triumphant 2019.

Q-Tip Remembers How Columbia And Def Jam Passed On Signing Megan Thee Stallion Despite His Co-Sign

Trying to get on in the hip-hop industry is always going to be a grind, but having a huge titan co-sign you is usually a huge help. Megan Thee Stallion might be one of the biggest artists in rap at the moment, but back when she was first trying to break into music, she apparently made a big impression on a legendary artist — none other than Q-Tip himself. In a clip from My Expert Opinion, the A Tribe Called Quest rapper explains that even with all of his own connections on the label side of things, both Columbia Records and Def Jam weren’t very interested in signing Megan when she was just an unknown rapper from Houston.

“Prior to this, my co-signs were Dilla, Nas, Redman […] so I’ve done it a few times,” he explains. “So this one in particular we’re sitting at the meeting [with Columbia] and it’s great. The dude comes back, ‘So we saw the views, yeah she’s good. We could just give her like… $30,000′ or some sh*t like that.’ Just say you don’t want to sign her, b! Don’t f*cking embarrass me. So I took her to Def Jam, but the same thing happened. And I was like I guess the co-sign isn’t working anymore. And she wound up being Megan Thee Stallion. The co-sign is kind of flimsy now, because they rely on data… I was like ‘Don’t you see who she is? She is going to be the wave!’”

Megan did post about the trip back when it happened, which backs up his story, in case there was any doubt:

Yung Baby Tate Encouraged Fans To Post ‘Natural’ Selfies In Response To A Troll’s Body-Shaming

In addition to cultivating a flourishing career, Atlanta rapper-singer Yung Baby Tate is apparently a world-class clapback artist, as she recently proved when an Instagram influencer tried to body-shame her for having natural belly fat.

Ayesha Howard, who goes by @little.ms.golden on Instagram, commented on a photo of Yung Baby Tate performing at Afropunk over the weekend, apparently incensed by Tate’s caption praising natural bodies. Quoting Beyonce, Tate wrote, “As Queen Bey once said, “wanna see some REAL A$$?! Baby here’s your chance!” Shoutout to all my natural bellied bodies. I see you, I am you, I love you. No matter WHAT my body looks like, it is MINE and I love it! Please go project your insecurities onto a piece of paper, burn it, and throw it away. Then go look in the mirror and tell yourself how much you are loved.”

Howard, who seems to have taken the caption as a diss to women who get plastic surgery, commented, “I’m all for being natural and loving the skin you are in but that’s not just what a natural body looks like that’s a natural body with no discipline, structure and poor eating habits in their lifestyle…Girls that work out don’t look like this.” She also equated the belly fat to poor health, which… girl, no. “She’s a performer she should want the best for herself all around,” she wrote. “[I]t’s not just about looks but in her job presentation is everything and she needs to be healthy enough to do it.”

Tate apparently had time to respond. In a tweet, she attributed Howard’s comments to pettiness and jealousy, writing, “Everyone is saying imma eat the unmarried Ayesha up for her comments on my belly but honestly her life is rocky enough. I think she saw the word “baby” in my name and got triggered so I’ll give her a pass on this beautiful WEDnesday.” Tate wasn’t finished yet, though. Next, she posted a clip of herself driving in her car and lip-syncing to her upcoming single “Pedi” on which she crows, “Real ass bitch and I might be crazy, but at least I’m authentic.”

Finally, she turned the whole exchange into a positive, teachable moment, posting a tweet reading, “natural bodied babes quote this with ur fav body pics!” Since then, she’s been retweeting and affirming followers sending her their photos, and reminding followers that “MY BODY is MY BODY to work on or NOT!”

See the exchange and Tate’s encouraging comebacks above.

Jadakiss, Fivio Foreign, & Cam’ron Tapped For ABC’s Hip-Hop Drama “Queens”

Since being announced earlier this year, Queens has been one of the most anticipated shows this fall. The ABC drama will star Brandy, Eve, Naturi Naughton, and Nadine Velazquez as a group of women who were once a part of the successful ’90s rap ensemble known as Nasty Bitches. After breaking up and going their separate ways, all four of them reunite in their 40s and decide to give their promising music career one more shot.

Queens will finally be premiering within a matter of weeks, and as fans get ready for ABC’s new series, more exciting news has surfaced. In addition to music industry heavyweights Brandy and Eve, Queens will also feature appearances from Jadakiss, Fivio Foreign, and Cam’ronHipHopDX reports.

Jadakiss and Fivio will reportedly first appear in the show’s fifth episode with unknown roles while Cam’ron appears in multiple episodes as a rapper who was once featured on one of the group’s hit singles. More information has not yet been revealed about each rapper’s character, so fans will have to wait until Queens airs to see how they interact with Nasty Bitches members Xplicit Lyrics, Professor Sex, Da Thrill, and Butter Pecan — portrayed by Brandy, Eve, Naughton, and Velazquez, respectively.

Post Malone’s Posty Fest Rescheduled To 2022 Due To Production Issues

After COVID-19 largely robbed music fans of any opportunity to hear live music during the last nine months of 2020, increasing vaccination rates and a growing sense of normalcy in 2021 have brought back live music and with festivals like Lollapalooza and Rolling Loud going off without a hitch, it was clear that music festivals were back in the mix.

Along with Lolla and Rolling Loud, Post Malone’s Posty Fest was also set to return in 2021.

Two weeks ago, Malone unveiled a star-studded Posty Fest lineup featuring Megan Thee Stallion, Lil Uzi Vert, Roddy Ricch, Jack Harlow, $uicideboy$, Polo G, Rod Wave, Tyga, Iann Dior, Koe Wetzel, Turnstile, Tyla Yaweh, Flo Milli, Kaash Paige, Kenny Mason, Peach Tree Rascals, RMR, Gatecreeper, Clever and LoveLeo.

Fans were obviously excited and the third iteration of Posty Fest, set to take place at AT&T Field in Arlington, TX over a two-day span between October 30-31, was just on the horizon.

Unfortunately, that’s where it will stay.

Citing “logistical issues impacting the production of the festival,” Live Nation has made the decision to cancel Posty Fest 2021 and move it back to 2022.

The entertainment company added that they couldn’t “wait to make 2022 our biggest year yet,” but did confirm that this year’s event would not be happening. Ensuring that fans who had already purchased Posty Fest tickets would be refunded at their point of purchase, Live Nation did not confirm whether the lineup of artists would remain the same in 2022.

Obviously disappointing news, Posty Fest, cancelled for the second year in a row, will look to make a comeback in another year but with artists like J. Cole having to postpone tour dates earlier this week due to production concerns, it’s clear that even the biggest names aren’t immune to bumps in the road.

Were you planning on going to Posty Fest this year? Will you go next year if it actually happens? Let us know in the comments.

50 Cent’s “BMF” Series Renewed For Season 2

At this point, 50 Cent and Starz are becoming synonymous, with the television network providing a home for projects like Power, Raising Kanan, and most recently BMF, which premiered last Sunday 26th.

With the series centering around the rise of Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory and Terry “Southwest T” Flenory, who orchestrated the rise of the Black Mafia Family in 1980s Detroit, many have already been keen to tune into 50’s latest series. So much so that the first episode was Starz’s most-viewed premiere of the year, an accomplishment that ultimately led the network to seize the momentum and widen the scope of the BMF story.

As confirmed by Variety, Starz has officially renewed BMF for a second mere days after the premiere. “Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson continues to find and cultivate stories like ‘BMF’ that are culturally relevant, bringing the network important untold stories that are incredibly diverse both in front of and behind the camera,” states Jeffrey Hirsch, Starz President and CEO. “Following such a strong debut, we’re excited to see what Curtis, Randy and the award-worthy cast deliver in the second season.”

After the big news, 50 took to Instagram for the “After the first episode breaks all premiere records on the network, sure you’ll get a season 2,” captions 50. “Yeah, don’t worry be happy!” At this point, there’s absolutely no doubting Fif’s television empire, and it’s clear he’s earned his position as one of the most creative minds associated with the Starz network. It will be interesting to see how BMF unfolds; who knows — perhaps it will be his first series to gain recognition at the Emmy Awards.

Are you excited to hear that BMF has already been renewed for a second season?

99 Neighbors Cruise Through A Smooth ‘Eastside’ Invitation For ‘UPROXX Sessions’

99 Neighbors issue a smooth invitation on their groovy single “Eastside,” pairing the laid-back, melodic track with a casual performance on the latest episode of UPROXX Sessions. The group, which normally consists of seven members, came through Uproxx Studios with a stripped-down, two-man lineup consisting of rappers Sam Paulino and Hanknative, who provide all the vocals on the song, while Jared Fier, Juju, and Somba make their presence known on the lilting, midtempo beat. Other members of the group include Aidan Ostby, a vocalist, Connor “Swank” Stankevich, also a rapper, and Shane Kaseta, the group’s graphic designer and photographer.

First-time listeners might be surprised to learn that the group hails from Burlington, Vermont, which is not exactly a hotbed of the jazz, R&B, and hip-hop that influences their sound. However, once the band formed in 2018, it didn’t take them long to acquire national recognition, thanks in part to securing the co-management services of Pat Corcoran, who formerly managed Chance The Rapper. 99 Neighbors were included as the first act in Corcoran’s 2019 label deal with Warner Records and they’ve steadily grown their profile since.

UPROXX Sessions is Uproxx’s performance show featuring the hottest up-and-coming acts you should keep an eye on. Featuring creative direction from LA promotion collective, Ham On Everything, and taking place on our “bathroom” set designed and painted by Julian Gross, UPROXX Sessions is a showcase of some of our favorite performers, who just might soon be yours, too.

Fans React To Skylar Grey, Eminem, Polo G & Mozzy Collab “Last One Standing”

With Marvel’s latest installment in the Venom franchise, Venom: Let There Be Carnage set to release tomorrow on October 1, fans were blessed with a new single from the movie’s soundtrack. Dropping “Last One Standing” last night at midnight, we saw Skyler Gray round up Eminem, Polo G and Mozzy for an introspective cut showcasing each artist’s best talents.

Grey brings her signature spacious lyrics, Polo G gives us the inspiration we need to make it through those hard situations and both Mozzy and Em spit bar after bar, turning a song from a movie into something you actually have to think about.

After making “Venom” for the Spider-Man villain’s first movie back in 2018, it was a no-brainer that Em would be involved with the second movie somehow. The Revival rapper teased the new record a bunch and on the same day the Detroit rapper opened Mom’s Spaghetti, a new restaurant in his hometown, he popped up on the last single released before the movie is released.

Naturally, because Eminem and Marvel movies always stir the pot, fans online had intense reactions upon hearing “Last One Standing” and took to Twitter to let their feelings be known.

Painting a picture of what is clearly a very mixed reaction, fans celebrated the new track and haters said the song was so bad they wouldn’t be watching the new Venom movie.

Check out the reactions to  “Last One Standing” below and let us know what you think of the new single in the comments.
