Megan Thee Stallion Says Pardison Fontaine “Makes Me Feel Really Protected”

Since they went public with their romance, Megan Thee Stallion and Pardison Fontaine haven’t ceased sharing intimate moments of their relationship. The couple has uploaded photos and videos to social media showing them jet-setting together, at award shows, and even just enjoying each other’s company at home, and in a recent interview with 97.9 The Box, a smiling Megan was asked if her current elated mood had anything to do with her man.

“First of all, he does make me happy but my happiness comes from myself ’cause I’m just a happy lady,” said Megan. “But, I mean, like I said in the last interview, I’ve got good energy around me right now.”

“Everybody that’s a part of my life, definitely makes me feel good, keep me encouraged,” she continued. “I love where I’m at with working and writing and my music, so that always puts me in a good mood when I finally figure out what I wanna say on the beat. I dropped my Fashion Nova collection today so I’m happy about that, but yeah, Pardi does make me happy.”

The rapper was then asked what attracted her to Fontaine. “I love Pardi because he’s so sweet,” she said. “A lot of guys are scared to show they sweet side and Pardi is not one of them. He’s very romantic and protective and he just makes me feel really protected so I like spending time with him because I feel very secure.”

“One thing I know, he’s gon’ have my back and I got his, so I love that.” We saw just how fiercely Pardison defends his woman in his recent online interaction with DaBaby. Check out Megan’s interview below.

Marvel Drops Second Trailer For Upcoming “Shang Chi” Movie

The onslaught of COVID-19 has deprived Marvel fans of new movie instalments for far too long, but that is set to change with the September release of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Fans were treated to a second action-packed trailer yesterday that highlights the movie’s epic fight scenes as well as the struggle that carries throughout the movie: Shang-Chi vs. his father. Shang-Chi, who is heir to his father’s martial arts legacy, must fight against him and the nefarious attacks that he commits.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings marks Marvel’s first Asian lead and mostly Asian cast. The film stays true to the Asian myths and customs that drive its story, as lead actor Simu Liu told The Hollywood Reporter: “There are many moments, and there are many characters that you root for and fall in love with. It really is a celebration of Marvel and of superheroes but also of Asian myths. That’s something that we haven’t seen before in a superhero movie.”

The movie, Marvel’s first theater-exclusive release in two years, is set to release on September 3rd. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will be the second movie in phase four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, preceded by Black Widow in July and followed by Eternals in November and Spider-Man: No Way Home in December.

Lauren London Reveals “Forever Stronger” Puma Collection: “[It] Has Been My Mantra”

Following Nipsey Hussle’s death, Lauren London has continued his legacy, but while she’s championed The Marathon Continues, the actress has been making moves for herself, as well. This week, London’s capsule collection with Puma, Forever Stronger, arrived, and it has been a partnership that she has been nurturing since after Nipsey’s untimely death in 2019.

We’ve seen London’s work with Puma throughout 2019 and 2020, and the collection she’s been quietly building dropped Friday (June 25). The actress made an official announcement via her Instagram. “My Son Kam told me he was proud of me today,” wrote London in the caption to a photo.

“This collection and what it stands for is deeper than clothing for me. ‘Forever Stronger’ has been a mantra for me throughout my journey with grief . I’ve been through The depths of despair but I am still here,” she continued. “May this collection remind you of your own divine strength ! No matter what life brings , may we all stand stronger ! I know this because I live it.”

In a recent interview with Complex, London spoke candidly about Forever Stronger, calling the name of the collection an “affirmation.” She added, “It’s just for you to walk around with a message that can remind yourself or somebody else that’s reading your hoodie or your T-shirt. And it’s easy, simple pieces you can wear.”

“Puma was so caring and respectful and very gentle with me and gave me the creative freedom to choose my collaborators and control how I wanted to announce the partnership,” says London. “We didn’t want to make a blank announcement. We wanted it to be authentic and for it to mean something. And Forever Stronger is such a message that is really authentic to me.”

Tyler, The Creator Apologizes To Selena Gomez Over Past Offensive Tweets

Fans worldwide are celebrating Tyler, The Creator’s latest album Call Me If You Get Lost, but people noticed that he used his record to once again make things right with Selena Gomez. A decade ago, Tyler was known for his trolling antics on social media, and he didn’t censor himself from making offensive remarks to and about his fellow celebrities.

Back in 2010, he tweeted things like: “@selenagomez is now 18. so she can now legally take my d*ck in her f*cking ass,” “Selena Gomez Is Gonna Take My D*ck Deep In Her F*cking P*ssy,” and “Dakota Fanning And Miley And Selena Are All Gonna Take My D*ck Weather They like It Or Not. F*cking Broads.”

On the Call Me If You Get Lost track “Manifesto,” Tyler said, “I was a teener, tweetin’ Selena crazy sh*t. Didn’t wanna offend her, apologize when I seen her. Back when I was tryna f*ck Bieber, Just-in.” This references Justin Bieber’s on-again-off-again relationship with Selena that went on for eight years until they decided to end things permanently in 2018.

Tyler and Justin were good friends back in the day so that reportedly factored into the rapper’s harassment of the actress-singer. Gomez has yet to respond to the “Manifesto” mention, but you can check out those old tweets and the track below.

Kevin Durant Explains Why He Could Have Played Football

Kevin Durant is one of the greatest players in the history of basketball and there is no doubt when all is said and done, he will be headed to the Hall of Fame. Throughout his career, Durant has always been unique thanks to his physique and the skill set he has despite his frame. Most players of his size make a name for themselves in the paint, however, Durant has proven himself to be a sniper from beyond the arc.

Recently, Durant was a guest on the “Out of Office” podcast where he spoke about his physique and whether or not it would translate to other sports. When asked which sport he could have envisioned himself playing, KD noted that he would have loved to play football and he thinks he would have been good at it. In fact, Durant believes he would have been a solid wide receiver.

“I could play football. I can be a wideout at least. There’s wideouts that’s 6 feet, 170 [pounds]. … All go routes,” Durant said. Considering just how skinny Durant is, it’s hard to imagine him playing a sport like football where you are constantly getting laid out, although we’re sure Durant would have trained for something like that.

Either way, it would certainly be fun to think about KD as a football player, although it’s clear that basketball his true calling.

Wendy Williams Claims Da Brat Hit On Her, Rapper Shuts Her Down

Just one day after Karlie Redd threatened to expose her, Wendy Williams is stirring the pot with Da Brat. The famed talk show host knows how to create a bit of drama with her revelations, and earlier today, Williams did just that when she was visited by Da Brat. The So So Def music icon sat down for a virtual interview with Williams and during their chat, Wendy claimed there was a time when Da Brat made a pass at her.

Wendy asked Brat if she heard what she said during her “Hot Topics” segment. “I heard you saying something bizarre,” the rapper said. “Tell me what you said, girl.”

“Well, you got a strong pick-up game,” Williams answered. “Unless that’s the way you always speak to attractive women.” Da Brat asked the host if she thought the rapper was trying to pick her up at some point in time. “Yup!” Wendy stated. Brat wanted to know when this interaction went down and Wendy said she “has the receipts” in her phone.

“The last time we talked and I text you, it was after I saw your documentary, and I felt like you ain’t got no real friends and I wanted to be your friend so I called to check on you,” said Brat. Wendy called foul, telling the rapper that she did more than that. Da Brat told her to “check her phone because” she “has the same receipts.”

“Don’t do that girl,” said Brat. “I love you but I’ve never been attracted to you, girl.” Wendy couldn’t let it go and asked Brat if she would like Williams if the talk show host were gay. “Nope,” Brat answered quickly.

Check out the awkward segment below, along with a reaction from Da Brat’s fiancée, Jesseca Dupart.

The Best New Hip-Hop Hip-Hop This Week

The best new hip-hop this week includes albums, videos, and songs from Doja Cat, Tyler The Creator, and more.

This week saw the releases of Jaden’s “Bye,” Jazz Carter and Buddy’s “Two Of Em,” Mick Jenkins’ “Truffles,” Joyner Lucas’ “Legend” with Rick Ross, Kyle’s “Love Me Like You Say You Love Me,” Big Sean’s “Freshman 10 Freestyle,” Rexx Life Raj’s “Lockheed Martin,” and EST Gee’s “Capitol 1,” along with the releases listed below.

Here is the best of hip-hop this week ending March 19, 2021.

Albums/EPs/Mixtapes

Doja Cat — Planet Her

Sure, it’s not technically a hip-hop album, any more than it is strictly pop, dance, or R&B. But Doja’s third effort features some of her sharpest rapping, tapping into a number of contemporary styles from Cloud rap to EDM, always with an eyebrow-raising punchline or clever twist on a familiar cadence. This is creativity personified; what’s more hip-hop than that?

Juicy J — The Hustle Still Continues [Deluxe]

Juicy has evolved over time into a shepherd and mentor of the modern-day, hedonistic trap rap scenes that take so much inspiration from his work with Three Six Mafia. This deluxe version of his 2020 album adds an astonishing number of new songs and collaborators, bringing in bright new stars like Lil Baby, Pooh Shiesty, and Rico Nasty.

MIKE — Disco!

Back in the late ’90s, MIKE would have been considered a backpacker. Now, he’s something of a contrarian presence, the rare traditionalist who isn’t pursuing an agenda to “bring back real hip-hop,’ instead locking in on his own iconoclastic trajectory of rebellious super rhyming style.

Ski Mask The Slump God — Sin City

The South Florida firestarter returns after a long hiatus to resume his campaign of punk-rap terror in a world in which he’s less of an exception than the prototype of an entire movement — a movement that’s closer to the mainstream than ever before.

Tyler The Creator — Call Me If You Get Lost

Tyler delivers his own version of DJ Drama’s popular Gangsta Grillz mixtape series, splitting the difference between gruff-voiced, braggadocious rhymes and the tender soul of Igor and Flower Boy. The effect is intoxicating.

Singles/Videos

ASAP TyY — “1990”

Yes, I know: There are soooo many members of ASAP Mob, you probably forgot all about TyY. Well, shame on you, because he’s every bit as charismatic and clever as his more mainstream favorite homeboys.

Beanz — “As Seen On TV” Feat. Benny The Butcher

Beanz, a truly underrated rapper, gets to shine alongside one of the more popular purveyors of straight-up, bruising bars, which may lead to her finally receiving her due when her debut album Tables Turn drops this summer.

Bfb Da Packman — “Weekend At Solomon’s”

Dropping his debut album this week, the hilarious Flint, MI rapper employs a number of hip-hop’s most hyped names on the tracklist, from XXL Freshman Coi Leray to standup comic turned rapper Zack Fox, but he goes for dolo here, and this track is all the more entertaining for it.

BlueBucksClan — “Rap City”

LA party rap duo BlueBucks has taken the city by storm, between their infectious beat choices and sports-related rap references, they’ve quickly become a favorite of the block party/house party set — whichever set they claim.

KenTheMan — “I’m Perfect”

Look at that title. KenTheMan’s name has been buzzing on the social media streets as the successor to the crown passed from Cardi to Megan to Latto to Flo Milli, and this track is the — ahem — perfect example of why.

Some artists covered here are Warner Music artists. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.
