Johnny Manziel Explains How He Made $33K While In The NCAA

Johnny Manziel was a sensation during his time in the NCAA. As a member of Texas A&M, Manziel was a bonafide star and his win against Alabama is what made him so beloved by fans everywhere. He was also known for being a huge party animal, which unfortunately led to his demise in professional football. Regardless, Manziel was a highly-touted individual back in 2013 and there were a lot of people looking to make money off of him.

As Manziel explained in a recent episode of Barstool’s “Bussin With The Boys,” Manziel made $33,000 prior to his 2013 campaign. Essentially, Manziel was approached by two different people, asking him to sign autographs in exchange for some cash. Manziel said yes to both deals, and that’s how he made his money, despite strict rules prohibiting such a thing.

“This guy comes up behind me, he’s like, ‘Yo, how would you wanna make 3 grand?'” Manziel said. “I turn around, I’m like, ‘fuck yeah, bro.'” Manziel was eventually approached by someone else who offered him $30K, which led to a lucrative payday and some sketchy business affairs. “So, this guy’s pretty much, ‘All right, go to this room at the Fountainebleu. All this stuff will be in there laid out. When you’re done, just send me a picture of all of it. I’ll give you the code to the safe, the money will be in there,'” Manziel explained.

Manziel was eventually investigated for his involvement in signing pieces of memorabilia for cash, however, no real evidence surfaced at the time. With Manziel’s days in the NCAA well behind him, it is easy to see why he would come through with such a revelation when there is absolutely nothing to lose.

At this point, it seems likely that he isn’t the only one to have done this.

J. Cole Raps From The Inside Of A Taxi Cab In The “p u n c h i n ‘ . t h e . c l o c k” Video

Weeks removed from the release of The Off-Season, J. Cole is still putting in the work to push his latest album as far as possible. The Off-Season dropped to the second spot on the Billboard 200 following the release of Olivia Rodrigo’s debut album Sour, but Cole probably isn’t too worried about his chart placement because he reportedly raked in nearly $2 million from the album during its first week

Still, J. Cole has continued to promote his sixth studio album by dropping music video after music video. Fans have already been treated to the stunning visuals for “a m a r i” and “a p p l y i n g . p r e s s u r e,” yet despite reportedly selecting “m y . l i f e” as The Off-Season‘s next single, Cole has returned today with the music video for “p u n c h i n ‘ . t h e . c l o c k.”

 J. Cole headlines the main stage on Day 1 of Wireless Festival 2018 at Finsbury Park on July 6, 2018 in London, England.

Similar to the visuals for “a p p l y i n g . p r e s s u r e,” Cole’s latest music video is a more grungy and low-fi offering from the Dreamville co-founder, and it’s also filmed in New York. Unlike its predecessor, however, there are no cameos from people name-dropped on the song, which is unfortunate because a J. Cole and Damian Lillard link-up would have been really cool to see.

Throughout the short video, Cole catches a taxi and performs his bar-filled verse live from the taxi cab, and the video concludes with him grabbing some food and walking off into the distance. Head back to the top to check out the music video for “p u n c h i n ‘ . t h e . c l o c k.” What other song from The Off-Season do you hope gets the visual treatment next?

Ari Fletcher Wants People To Stop Using Her Last Name

With over five million followers on Instagram and over a million on Twitter, Ari Fletcher has become one of the biggest influencers in the hip-hop adjacent world. While she’s never tried to be a rapper, she’s been around this scene for years, having a baby with G Herbo before moving onto her current boyfriend MoneyBagg Yo. She’s grown tremendously as a businesswoman, becoming one of the most sought-after influencers on the internet. With such a strong reputation, Ari thinks she should be on a first-name basis with the entire world.

Taking to Twitter, Ari asked fans to discontinue the use of her family name, believing that she’s made it far enough to simply go by her first name from now on. “Y’all… stop calling me Ari Fletcher,” she demanded. “Just Ari or Ari The Don. Stop with the Fletcher. Please.”

After taking some time to let the tweet marinate, Ari commented on how some commenters were making a big deal out what she had to say. “One thing about me… I’m gone keep the internet in a uproar about nothing chile,” she said. When somebody challenged her and said no one would ever call her Ari The Don, Ari replied, “Bitch I don’t even know wtf your name says. Follow my orders whachamacallit!”

It’s safe to say that her decision is final. No more Fletcher from now on!

Draymond Green Explains Why LeBron & The Lakers Aren’t Done Yet

LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers were underdogs heading into their matchup against the Phoenix Suns. With all of their injuries in mind, there was this sense that they wouldn’t have enough in the tank despite being defending champions. However, after taking a 2-1 series lead, it felt like the momentum had shifted and they were going to get the job done. With Anthony Davis getting injured in Game 4, the series changed once again, and now, the Lakers are on the verge of elimination with Game 6 going down tonight.

While many believe the Lakers are done, Draymond Green seems to think that LeBron James is about to turn things around for good. As he explained in a recent AMA for Bleacher Report, LeBron knows how to get himself out of a hole and that if he makes it work, the Lakers could very well be back in the Finals.

“Who is coming out of the West is coming out of LA. I’ve seen LeBron down 3-2 before and seen him bring his team back to another NBA Finals,” Green said.

With both the Clippers and Lakers down 3-2 in their respective series, there is no telling whether or not any of the L.A. teams can make the second-round. However, if there is any player who can make it happen for his team, it would have to be LeBron James.

Diddy Declares Himself King Of New York, Miami, & L.A.

If Game Of Thrones has taught us anything, it’s that declaring oneself to be King only sows further conflict. And yet, for many ambitious claimants, kingship remains the only desirable endgame. Long have we seen rappers spark debate, controversy, and backlash upon reaching for the proverbial crown.

Recently, Diddy once again tossed his sword in the race — not a frivolous metaphor, lest we forget his love of swordsmanship — deeming himself to be the King of New York, Miami, and Los Angeles. He did so during an interview with P of Quality Control, and to his credit, he acknowledged the presence of multiple king contenders — bestowing the royal title upon the Atlanta mogul.

“We have a lot of kings, but P baby, we’re going to put some respect on that name,” he begins, before turning to the camera. “Since I’m king of New York, Miami, and L.A, I come with greetings from the other empires. I pay respect to you.”

Clearly, Diddy knows exactly what he’s doing. After all, one does not reach his career heights by living in ignorance. He of all people should understand the weight such claims carry, however; after all, claiming “king of New York” status was strongly rumored to have been the catalyst for Diddy’s notorious conflict with Kendrick Lamar. Curiously, Diddy has now crowned himself king of Kenny’s soil, and one has to wonder as to whether any artists will take issue with Love’s wide-ranging territorial expansion.

Check out the fragment of Puff’s conversation with P below, and sound off if you agree with Diddy’s ambitious assessment in the comments below.

Prince’s Estate Shares The Funky Single ‘Born 2 Die’ As Another ‘Welcome 2 America’ Preview

Prince recorded his final album Welcome 2 America over a decade ago and now, it’s finally about to be released. Prince’s estate first announced the exciting project back in April with the title track, which is a spoken word reflection on the pitfalls of mass media. Now offering another look at the album, Prince’s funk-forward track “Born 2 Die” is officially here.

As noted by Prince’s team, the song was conceived over a decade ago as Prince reflected on issues of racial justice:

“The song was recorded during a flurry of studio activity in the spring of 2010, when President Obama was just a year into his first term and Prince was reflecting deeply on the issues affecting the Black community and the role he hoped to play. As happened countless times throughout his career, Prince ended up shelving the song and the rest of Welcome 2 America in his legendary vault.”

Prince’s collaborator and longtime music director Morris Hayes recalled how the musician wrote “Born 2 Die” after being compared to Curtis Mayfield. “We got to ‘Born 2 Die,’ and Prince said, ‘I’ll tell you how that came about,’” Hayes said. “He had been watching videos of his friend Dr. Cornel West on YouTube, and during one speech Dr. West said, ‘I love my brother Prince, but he’s no Curtis Mayfield.’ So Prince said, “Oh really? We will see.”

Listen to “Born 2 Die” above.

Welcome 2 America is out 7/30 via The Prince Estate/Legacy Recordings. Pre-order it here.

Tyron Woodley Teases Quick & Easy Fight Against Jake Paul

Tyron Woodley and Jake Paul will be fighting on August 28th in what should prove to be an incredible fight. These two don’t seem to like each other and with Paul proving himself to be an adequate fighter, Woodley will be his best test yet. So far, many are predicting that Woodley will be the winner although there are some pundits out there who think Paul is in for yet another easy win due to the fact that Woodley isn’t a tried and true boxer.

In an interview with TMZ, Woodley made it abundantly clear that he plans to take boxing seriously and that he even wants a second fight in November against someone else. He also realizes there is more money in boxing, which has him excited for the future. “The best thing that’s happened in the last 24 hours is I’m smiling that my market value is where it’s at,” he said.

Woodley also previewed the fight against Paul, claiming that it will actually be quite easy.

“It’s not because he’s an easy fight, but because I’m gonna train my ass off and I’m gonna make it an easy fight,” Woodley claimed. Of course, as a UFC fighter, Woodley will have to do a lot of training in order to get the boxing muscle memory in his system. Regardless, he is a world-class fighter and he will definitely give Paul the fight of his life.

U.S. Football League Gearing Up For Massive Comeback

While the NFL has always reigned supreme, there have been numerous leagues that have tried to compete. The XFL is one of the first leagues that comes to mind, and its failed reboot in 2020 continues to be a well-documented occurrence. Now, The Rock is in charge of the XFL and it could very well be looking at a merger with the CFL. Decades before the XFL, we had the United States Football League or the USFL for short. Donald Trump was an owner of one of the teams and despite a three-year run from 1983-1985, the league ended up dissolving.

Now, however, the USFL is making a massive comeback as it will return in the Spring of 2022, with its eight original teams. All of the franchises have the same names, and it is looking like the league has a real backing behind it, as games will be broadcast on Fox Sports.

“The relaunch of the USFL is a landmark day for football fans and Fox Sports,” CEO Eric Shanks explained per TMZ. “Football is in our DNA and the return of this innovative and iconic league is a fantastic addition to our robust slate of football programming.”

There is no guarantee that this will be a successful endeavor, however, with fans yearning for more football, the USFL has an opportunity to do what the XFL and AAF couldn’t. Let us know if you’re excited about this new league, in the comments below.
