Meek Mill Remixes Drake’s ‘Lemon Pepper Freestyle’ And Teases New Music On The Way

Meek Mill has been hard at work on his fifth album, which will be his first full-length effort since 2018’s Championship. From the looks of it, the album could arrive soon, but before it does, the Philly native showcased his talents in a confident new freestyle. Mill’s latest track finds him rapping over Drake and Rick Ross’ “Lemon Pepper Freestyle,” a remix that also came with a music video. It finds Meek recording in the studio and shopping for jewelry while speaking about his turbulent past and determination to remain successful.

Shortly after he released the song, Meek hopped on Twitter to chat with fans. After one user requested a mixtape from him, he responded, “Just RAP, no features, no singing n****s, Just Meek over a calm beat going crazy.” He added that more new music from him is coming, writing, “Ima give y’all one this summer after my album.” Another person responded with skepticism about the claim, but Meek seemed set on making it happen, saying, “We gon see!” He also teased a sequel to his 2014 track “Blue Notes,” which features Lil Uzi Vert “on some Philly sh*t and he rapping rapping!”

DMX’s Friend Jungle Apologizes After Interrupting Funeral Service

Last weekend, family and friends paid their final respect to DMX while fans tuned into the memorial and funeral from home. The memorial was slightly late but it ended up being a perfect celebration of X’s life with his children and family sharing heartfelt words about the rapper. It was the funeral, however, where things got a tad bit unhinged. X’s friend Jungle crashed the stage to make a speech that he somehow made about himself but was ultimately kicked off of the stage.

Darin Dee Dean, CEO of Ruff Ryders, took to Instagram where he revealed that Jungle personally pulled up on him on his block to offer an apology for his words. The footage shows Jungle on the phone with Reverend A.R. Bernard apologizing for his actions. “As a personal friend of Earl Simmons, I just got emotional and frustrated and angry, you know, of the situation and it just turned out that way. That was not my intention,” said Jungle over the phone. “And definitely not my intention to disrespect anybody’s house, much less anybody’s service.”

The video later shows Jungle alongside members of the Ruff Ryders on their block where he offered a public apology to anyone offended by his actions. “I saw the footage, I didn’t like what I saw so I wanted to apologize. to the family and friends of Earl,” he said.

California To Release 76k Inmates Early To Trim Prison Population

While being the world’s most dominant economic and military power, the United States also boasts the largest incarcerated population in the world. With a prison population rate of 655 individuals per 100,000 people, it’s more than fair to conclude that the country has an obsession with the carceral state.

Texas boasts the most incarcerated individuals in the country, followed closely by California. In an effort to reduce the massive population of its correctional system, California announced Saturday (May 1) plans to release upwards of 76,000 inmates, including violent and repeat felons.

More than 63,000 inmates in the state that have been convicted of violent crimes will be eligible for “good behavior credits.” These credits will shorten the sentences of these individuals by one-third rather than the one-fifth that had been in place in California since 2017. This figure includes nearly 20,000 individuals in California correctional facilities who are serving life sentences with a possibility of parole.

On the other hand, over 10,000 inmates convicted of a second serious but nonviolent offense under the state’s “three strikes” law will be eligible for prison release after serving half of their sentence. The same will apply to around 2,900 nonviolent third strikers, predicted by the corrections department.

The changes were approved by the state Office of Administrative Law, who gave little heads-up to the public. “The goal is to increase incentives for the incarcerated population to practice good behavior and follow the rules while serving their time, and participate in rehabilitative and educational programs, which will lead to safer prisons,” department spokeswoman Dana Simas said in a statement.

“Additionally, these changes would help to reduce the prison population by allowing incarcerated persons to earn their way home sooner,” she said.

The move has been met with praise and criticism, namely for potentially releasing violent felons. We’ll keep you updated with subsequent developments.

Kurt Cobain’s Final Photoshoot Is Now Being Sold As An NFT

Kurt Cobain is one of the most legendary artists of all time and his output with Nirvana will always stand the test of time. The Grunge rock pioneer is someone that made a huge impact on the music world in just a short amount of time which means it is no surprise that fans are always looking for some vintage Cobain archives. Luckily, for all of the collectors out there, photographer Jesse Frohman is about to unleash 104 Cobain photos onto the marketplace, via NFT.

Frohman conducted Cobain’s last ever photoshoot which is now referred to as “The Last Session.” Frohman has sold these photos before although this is the first time he has gone the crypto route. For those who are unaware, an NFT is a Non-Fungible Token. Essentially, it allows you to own pieces of art using Blockchain technology. While many have made lots of money from it, there are still quite a few skeptics out there, especially when you consider how most of the pieces being sold can be consumed without having to spend a single dime. This ultimately brings into question whether or not these items actually have any value.

Regardless, Frohman is set to make a lot off of the sale and if you’re a Cobain fan, this could be your chance to get a significant piece of history.
