Toni Braxton has had some pretty serious health scares in recent years. Additionally, TMZ caught up with the R&B icon to get an update on how she’s doing. The singer shared her survivor story after recently going through life-threatening heart surgery to unclog a main heart artery. Moreover, Toni Braxton told the gossip blog that she learned important lessons about taking care of your body. The star has the most prevalent form of lupus, systemic lupus erythematosus. Not only that, in a previous interview the songstress revealed her artery was 80% blocked.
Imagine not knowing one of your main arteries is almost completely BLOCKED? Accordingly, Toni revealed that she has been hospitalized on more than one occasion. She also said she sees the importance of regular health check-ups. However, the R&B legend conceited that she never took it seriously enough. When TMZ caught up with Toni Braxton, she told them she was just happy to be out and about since her surgery in September.

Furthermore, the “Un-Break My Heart” singer told the paparazzi that she won’t be touring at the moment and can’t sing how she wants to right now. However, she’s slowly getting reacclimated to the studio. Toni Braxton promises she’ll be 100% for her next live shows. Since the passing of her sister Traci last year due to cancer, Toni told the publication that she took the loss hard. She was so deep in mourning that she let her own medical checkups fall to the wayside.
Reportedly, she’s imploring fans to pay attention when their body’s talking to them and stay up-to-date with doctor visits. Toni Braxton has been transparent when it comes to talking about her lupus. Over a decade ago, she was diagnosed with the disease. Since then, she’s had her fair share of hospital visits, and multiple complications stemming from lupus. Toni was hospitalized with blood clots in 2012. This time around her health scares were more of a scare for her, as she was extremely close to having a heart attack.
