Guyanese-American artist SAINt JHN has not put out a full-length album since November 2020. However, he has consistently been feeding fans with singles since then. In 2022, he put out the track “For The Squadron” in early February and “Stadiums” in mid-December. It is currently unclear if any of these songs will be included on a potential upcoming album. However, JHN put out a tweet in Many of last year that laid out his thought process when it comes to albums. “I don’t make albums I make collections. Any Collection of art takes time. Don’t rush my Basquiat,” he said.
However, soon after his December song, he dropped “Overstimulated” last week (Feb. 3) as his first release of 2023. It is hard to imagine an increase of frequency of song releases like this would not correlate to an impending project. He followed a pattern similar to this when he dropped “Roses” and “Gorgeous” before his 2020 LF While The World Was Burning.
SAINt JHN Switches It Up
This pattern became even more considerable on Friday (Feb. 10), when Saint Jhn dropped another new song titled “You Laughed at Me.” The track was initially released solely on YouTube in August of last year, but was soon removed inexplicably. Perhaps he still needed to gain clearances for the cut to be added to digital streaming platforms.
Nevertheless, “You Laughed at Me” is another excellent demonstration of JHN’s elite artistry and vocals. Over a slick guitar loop, the 36-year-old’s melancholic attitude is almost tangible. A complete change of direction from his “Overstimulated” track a week prior with hard-hitting drums, this exhibition reveals a more vulnerable side of SAINt JHN. Quotable Lyrics:
So I said talk to me, talk to me, when you talk to me with your eyes
Baby, hold me, baby, hold me, hold me, hold me with your smile
Put your hands on me, put your hands on me
Answer me, would it hurt to lie to me?
