GloRilla And Big Boogie’s Performance Of ‘Bop!’ At The 2024 BET Hip-Hop Awards Was A Slice Of Memphis’ Infectious Sound

Last year, GloRilla solidified herself at the BET Hip-Hop Awards as rap’s breakout rookie. With several viral tracks under her belt, she opted to perform both fan favorites “FNF (Let’s Go)” and “Tomorrow.”

Today (October 15), GloRilla returned to the annual ceremony with an even more impressive discography, including her debut studio album, Glorious. This time GloRilla returned to support her fellow Collective Music Group (CMG) label mate, Big Boogie.

The entertainers treated the packed crowd to a swagger-filled performance of their viral collaboration, “Bop!” With each rapper proud to call Memphis home, the pair used the city’s infectious song on the track, but dance moves on stage. Initially, the track gained traction on TikTok thanks in part to user created choreography. While GloRilla and Big Boogie proudly performed the choreography, the two had to hit the Memphis jook.

In addition to her high-energy performance, GloRilla already secured numerous nominations, including one for Best Collaboration (“Wanna Be” with Megan Thee Stallion), Best Live Performer, Song Of The year (“Yeah Glo!”), Hip-Hop Album Of The Year (Ehhthang Ehhthang), Hip-Hop Artist Of The Year, Hustler Of The Year, and Impact Track (“Yeah Glo!”).

Trina Brought Yung Miami Out At The 2024 BET Hip-Hop Awards For Her First Performance Since Diddy Saga

The 2024 BET Hip-Hop Awards were filled with flower giving. One of the rap legends receiving their flowers include Trina.

On the heels of the release of the “Here We Go Again” rapper’s autobiography she hit the stage to perform a medley of her cultural impactful tracks including “Baddest B*tch,” “B R Right,” “Look Back at Me,” and “Nann.” But as an ode to her Dade County upbringing, Trina brought out her God-daughter and fellow rapper Yung Miami to perform “Pull Over!”

Although Yung Miami’s Caresha Please podcast has returned in full effect, and she was a special guest during Usher’s Past Present Future Tour, the cameo at marked her first performance since indictment against her on-and-again-off-again boyfriend Diddy into which she has reportedly been looped.

On stage dressed in a costume honoring Trina’s original look, Yung Miami let it all hang. The rapper didn’t mess a beat as she paid tribute to her Godmother. Between her public spat with former City Girls mate JT and the sea of lawsuit against her ex-boyfriend Diddy, fans poured out their support across platforms such as X (formerly known as Twitter).

Lil Uzi Vert Teases Release Of “Eternal Atake 2” With Album Trailer Shoot

Lil Uzi Vert is gearing up for a return. The rapper shocked fans and critics alike with PINK TAPE in 2023. They have been relatively quiet on the music front since, but they are seemingly ready to make noise. Lil Uzi Vert is scheduled to film a trailer for Eternal Atake 2 on October 16. The revelation came with internet clues and information regarding the anticipated sequel. All signs point to the album being ready to go, with a release date around the corner.

The rapper posted a photo of Madison Square Garden with the caption: “Meet me here 6:30 PM.” Fans knew something big was going to happen, but the Lil Uzi Vert Discord seemed to confirm it. According to the user HeavenorHell, Uzi has had Eternal Atake 2 ready to go for over a month. The user alleged that Lil Uzi Vert originally planned to release the album early in October, but was forced to delay it. The shoot on October 16, however, seemingly confirms that the rollout is starting back up again. “Idk how the info bout it came out,” the user added. “But it’s been ready for release for quite a while now.”

Lil Uzi Vert Announced The Album Back In 2021

Fans have been waiting to hear Eternal Atake 2 for years. Lil Uzi Vert confirmed the sequel’s existence in 2021. There have been several starts and stops in the intervening period, however. The rapper put a halt to Eternal Atake 2 to focus on the aforementioned PINK TAPE. They also confirmed that Luv Is Rage 3 is in the works, with various leaks from both sequels making their way online. Lil Uzi Vert confused fans in the summer of 2023, as well. The rapper claimed both albums would be shelved so they could prioritize Barter 16, a Young Thug tribute album.

Leaks once again reared their ugly head, and Lil Uzi Vert decided to shelve Barter 16. The rapper has decided to shift their focus back to Eternal Atake 2 in 2024, however. They teased the album as recently as August. This timeline makes sense with what the Discord user claimed regarding its completion. Uzi is seemingly more serious about the album than ever. Hopefully the album teaser means that fans will get a single and a release date sooner than later.

Tyler Perry And DeVon Franklin’s Upcoming Faith-Based Film, ‘R&B’ Starring Serayah, Jermaine Dupri, Phylicia Rashad and More

Screen Shot 2024 10 15 at 5.25.43 PM

Another day, another Tyler Perry film announcement. Like he drops films like influencers drop story posts. The star-studded cast has been unveiled for Tyler Perry and DeVon Franklin’s upcoming faith-based film, R&B. The project, which brings together an impressive ensemble, includes Serayah, Tyler Lepley, Phylicia Rashad, Walnette Santiago, Nijah Brenea, James Lee Thomas, Kenneth ‘Babyface’ Edmonds, Jermaine Dupri, and Lecrae Moore.

As first reported by Deadline, R&B will be directed by Alanna Brown, with a screenplay penned by Michael Elliot and Cory Tynan. R&B is described as a modern retelling of the biblical story of Ruth and Boaz, with a contemporary twist. Set in Tennessee, the narrative follows a young woman who leaves behind the bustling Atlanta music scene to care for an elderly widow. In this unexpected chapter of her life, she discovers not only love but also a maternal bond she never experienced.

Get this, the film marks the first of several projects under the multi-year, multi-picture first-look deal that Perry and Franklin inked with Netflix earlier in 2023. Perry expressed his excitement about this collaboration, saying:

“I’m so excited to be working with DeVon on this and future projects. I think in this polarizing world, and at a time where the world seems to be growing colder every day, we both share the common goal of wanting to spread some good. And there’s no better place than Netflix.”

As expected, both Perry and Franklin serve as producers on R&B, with Angi Bones, Tony L. Strickland, and Bart Lipton executive-producing the film. This collab follows Perry’s ambitious work with Netflix, where he has two other highly anticipated projects on the way: The Six Triple Eight, starring Kerry Washington, and the series Beauty in Black.

What’s more, with R&B, Perry and Franklin aim to deliver a heartfelt, inspiring story that reflects their shared vision of creating meaningful content during challenging times.

Travis Scott’s I Am Hip Hop Speech At The 2024 BET Hip-Hop Awards Included A Subtle Jab At Early Career Critics

Travis Scott has had quite the bounce back from the Astroworld Tragedy.

From his chart-topping return album Utopia to his earth-shaking supporting tour, Travis is back on top. Today (October 15), the 2024 BET Hip-Hop Awards crowned that impressive feat by awarding Travis Scott the I Am Hip Hop Award.

However, not everyone is pleased with Travis being honored. During his speech, Travis Scott addressed the naysayers and early career critics. “I can from this generation where they considered us nowhere near hip-hop,” he said. “And everyday I try to push the sound as a producer. Nobody knew what the f*ck I was trying to do [in the beginning]. But I always had this idea and vision…still to this day. Just to take the sound to the next level.”

That criticism is far from over. When Travis was announced as this year’s recipient, users online questioned the decision. However, in the caption of the announcement post (viewable here), BET seemingly replied to the pushback, writing: “From Astroworld vibes to breaking records with legendary tracks while making every stage feel like a movie, Travis truly embodies the culture. This award ain’t just a trophy; it’s a salute to his undeniable influence, hustle, and the way he keeps the game on ‘Sicko Mode’!”

Diddy Reportedly Asks Prosecutors To Reveal Names Of His Alleged Victims

The details of the Diddy case are still being sorted out. The mogul has been charged with racketeering and sex trafficking, with a trial rumored to kick off in May 2025. According to TMZ, however, Diddy feels he hasn’t been given a fair shake. The Bad Boy founder allegedly requested that the identities of alleged victims be revealed by the prosecution. His legal team argued that knowledge of the accusers will make it easier for the allegations to be specifically addressed.

The paperwork containing this request was filed on Tuesday, October 15. Diddy’s legal team argued that there will be “voluminous” evidence to suggest that their client engaged in consensual activities with his alleged victims. This evidence, however, can be only be provided if the specific names of alleged victims are divulged. The legal team reportedly feel as though the federal prosecutors working the case should provide more information than they have thus far. Cassie, who is alleged to be listed at Victim #1 based on the descriptor that Victim #1 dated Diddy, is not included in the legal team’s request.

Diddy Allegedly Feels Anonymity Is Hurting His Defense

Diddy’s lawyers are instead curious in the other unnamed victims. They also voiced concern over the ways the anonymity of Diddy’s alleged victims will impact future lawsuits. They pointed to Tony Buzbee and the recent wave of lawsuits that have been filed by the lawyer’s clients. Diddy’s team argued that the anonymity of the prosecution has created a “pervasive ripple effect.” One that has resulted in a “torrent of allegations by unidentified complainants.”

This is not the first time that Diddy’s legal team has voiced concern over Buzbee. On Monday, the team criticized the lawyer’s motives. They claimed Buzbee was using the attention gained by the Diddy case to boost his own public profile. “The press conference and 1-800 number that preceded today’s barrage of filings were clear attempts to garner publicity,” they asserted to TMZ. A representative for the U.S. Attorney’s Office has been contacted by the outlet regarding the decision to reveal accuser identities. The rep made no comment.

Lyrical Lemonade’s Cole Bennett Will Direct New Chief Keef Documentary

Keef’s legacy has also been defined by his legal troubles, and the various beefs he’s had with other artists. Both of these aspects will serve as the basis for the upcoming documentary about his life. Variety confirmed that a Chief Keef documentary is in the works, and Lyrical Lemonade’s Cole Bennett will serve as the director. It will mark Bennett’s feature directorial debut.

Chief Keef’s Doc Will Detail His Musical Influence

The timing of the documentary makes perfect sense. Chief Keef reputation and career were in the wild for most of the 2010s. It was unclear if the rapper would ever get a chance to reclaim his spot as a music pioneer. Fortunately, the acclaim given to his recent releases, and his Summer Smash stint, have signaled a change. Chief Keef talked about said his outsized influence during a May interview with the Grammy Awards. “If I had 500 M’s every time [I heard that], I’d be Jeff Bezos,” he quipped. “I be hearing that a lot, though, man… We know. I used to get mad about it, but I don’t give a f*ck.”

The documentary will also provide a major turning point for Cole Bennett. The Lyrical Lemonade creative has been one of the most in-demand music video directors of the last decade. He’s thrilled to be making the transition to narrative films, however. He retweeted the Variety article announcing the documentary, and wrote: “My first film, Chief Keef documentary.” A release date has yet to be announced. Key Takeaways From Vice President Kamala Harris Town Hall With Charlamagne Tha God: ‘I will work tirelessly to get this through’

Screen Shot 2024 10 15 at 5.13.08 PM

Vice President Kamala Harris is sitting down with everybody in the run up to the most consequential election of our lifetime.

The vocal host of the Breakfast Club hosted a town hall in Detroit and addressed concerns about Harris’ record as a prosecutor and made a firm commitment to decriminalize marijuana if she is elected in 2024. The interview, aimed at bolstering her support among Black men, also touched on her plans for police reform and combatting misinformation from Republicans.

Ya’ll know Charlamagne tha God, is known for his unfiltered approach, but he didn’t hesitate to press VP Harris on her history as a prosecutor. He opened by asking her to respond to claims that, during her time as San Francisco’s district attorney, she disproportionately incarcerated Black men.

But Harris was prepared unlike her often meandering, rambling opponent. In her response, Harris highlighted her progressive stance on marijuana during her tenure, stating, “I was one of the most progressive prosecutors on marijuana cases.” She pledged that, if elected, she would work to decriminalize marijuana nationwide, understanding how its criminalization has disproportionately impacted Black communities.

Get this, Harris acknowledged that support from Black men has been a challenge, with some polls indicating lower enthusiasm compared to Biden’s 2020 campaign. Her team, along with prominent allies such as Barack Obama, is focused on regaining that backing in key battleground states, including Michigan.

While addressing another critical issue, Harris spoke on police reform, vowing to push for the passage of the George Floyd Policing Act, which has stalled in Congress. “I will work tirelessly to get this through,” she said. The Act, which seeks to address police brutality and systemic racism in law enforcement, remains a priority for her administration.

Pressing on the realities of turning election proposals into law, Charlamagne questioned whether Harris could realistically secure enough votes to pass the legislation, given the deep divisions in Congress. Harris, undeterred, reaffirmed her commitment, stating, “We must push for this, even if it’s an uphill battle. Our communities deserve justice and accountability.” THAT PART.

What’s more, Harris also discussed the ongoing efforts by the Trump campaign to spread misinformation among Black voters, particularly targeting them to suppress turnout. “They are trying to scare people away because they know otherwise they have nothing to run on,” she asserted, accusing Trump’s team of attempting to manipulate voters rather than offering substantive policies.

If you thought VP Kamala Harris’ media blitz is going to slow down, guess again. Looking ahead, Harris is set to appear on Fox News and possibly on Joe Rogan’s podcast, continuing her outreach to diverse audiences as she ramps up her campaign efforts.
