Meek Mill Responds After Vanessa Bryant Calls Him Out Over “Disrespectful” Kobe Bryant Lyric

This probably wasn’t the Monday (February 22) evening that Meek Mill expected, but here we are. The rapper has been under heavy scrutiny over the past week due to not only his run-in with Tekashi 6ix9ine, but his controversial Kobe Bryant lyric in a snippet of a song reportedly with Lil Baby. “Yeah, and if I ever lack I’m goin’ out with my choppa / It be another Kobe,” Meek rapped in the viral clip. All these days later, Vanessa Bryant addressed the line, calling it “insensitive” and “disrespectful.”

“I am not familiar with any of your music, but I believe you can do better than this,” she wrote on her Instagram Story. “If you are a fan, fine, there’s a better way to show your admiration for my husband. This lacks respect.” Soon, both Meek and Vanessa became trending topics on various platforms, causing the lyrics to take center stage once again. Not long after Vanessa shared her post, Meek sent off a strange tweet and people accused him of being rude.

Meek seems to have resurfaced to comment on his name being involved in another trending topic, but it just intensified the controversy. “I don’t think we on the same signal y’all .. I don’t see what y’all see,” he tweeted, suggesting that he isn’t as aware of what’s going on on social media. “I be looking at the net laughing like I did whet [Upside-down] face I say random sh*t all day on social … it becomes a trend to hate on me every once in a while but I feed off that sh*t ima beast literally.”

He added, “Ima stay on this 100m chase to feed the kids ima dip from the crowd and stay in the vip.” Screenshots of the tweets were quickly shared and on The Shade Room and “Buss It” rapper Erica Banks commented on their post by writing, “He should just be quiet,” while others advised Meek to apologize to Vanessa Bryant. Peter Gunz & Cisco Rosado To Settle Their “Love & Hip Hop” Beef In The Ring

Their Love & Hip Hop beef may be settled in the ring. Peter Gunz, one-half of the duo that gave us the classic hit “Deja Vu (Uptown Baby),” was once close friends with music executive Cisco Rosado before their falling out. They bragged about their antics as members of the Creep Squad on the New York edition of the Love & Hip Hop franchise, but there were some strange moves happening behind the scenes that caused the friends to be at each other’s throats—literally. Their fight was broadcast for a global audience but it seemed that they were on the mend.

The two men argued after it was revealed that while traveling, Peter’s then-estranged wife, Amina Buddafly, crashed at Cisco’s home. He insisted nothing happened and she just needed a place to stay, but the secret caused Peter to erupt in anger. They’ve traded insults and spewed accusations, and now Peter Gunz has taken to Instagram to say he’s ready to face off with Cisco in a boxing match.

“Looks good on the gram but without legs and cardio you will get the sh*t beat out of you,” wrote Peter. “Don’t let my age fool you Lil Bro Boxing in the Ring and fighting on Love & Hip Hop is 2 different things!! No Security No @monascottyoung and no @stefateaser to talk us down!!” Judging from their more recent interactions these two seem to be on good terms, so some suspect that they’re kicking up dust just to hype the possibility of a fight.

Who do you think would take the title if these two face off? Check out their posts below.

6ix9ine’s Antics Have Caused Ex Sara Molina & Daughter To Receive Insults, Threats

It has been a busy few days for Tekashi 6ix9ine. There seemed to be a lull from the rapper’s camp as he quietly prepared for the next installment of his trolling, and when 6ix9ine was ready, he came back with a vengeance. The rapper popped up on Meek Mill and footage of that scuffle not only went viral but was included in the music video to 6ix9ine’s “ZAZA.” Then, 6ix9ine took verbal aim at Lil Durk by disrespecting King Von and many of the Chicago rapper’s loved ones who lost their lives to gun violence.

Durk has remained at arm’s length as he has made it clear that he doesn’t want to get involved in any activities that will land him in further trouble with the law. Lil Reese and 600 Breezy stepped in to call out 6ix9ine, but that only fueled the New York rapper’s fire. The controversy has caused his ex and mother of his daughter, Sara Molina, to be at the receiving end of alleged threats and insults, so she decided it was time to speak out.

“At the end of the day, we can all see that he clearly is on a mission,” said Molina at the beginning of her video. She said she wouldn’t address 6ix9ine’s recent behaviors, but it seems to be affecting her life, as well as the life of their young daughter. “For the people who have the nerve to DM me about all this stuff going on, mention my child, who is completely innocent. I don’t think a four-year-old, five-year-old, six-year-old, no matter around that age group, any child period should be—my daughter’s so innocent, she don’t even know she’s being called a b*tch online.”

This beef sh*t, it shouldn’t involve women, it shouldn’t involve children, it shouldn’t involve any of that,” she added. “Especially when it comes down to people thinking that he actually cares… Now, my daughter is being brought into some sh*t that has nothing to do with her.” Molina called 6ix9ine’s behavior “disgusting” and questioned, “why [she’s] being harassed online for sh*t that he’s doing.”

She emphasized once again that she has nothing to do with 6ix9ine and whatever he does is separate from not only her life but the life of their child. In the caption of her video, Molina wrote, “PSA . I’ve been harrassed and threatened because of his actions . I have every right to speak on the situation and protect my daughter and myself from what what ever harm he might put us through with his wreckless beefs that he’s taking on and provoking with people he has no business playing with .”

Asian Doll Argues With King Von’s Ex Over Relationship, Cheating, & Babies

Another day, another argument on social media by women close to King Von. The rapper lost his life back in November during a reported altercation with Quando Rondo’s entourage in Atlanta, and since that time, Von has been at the center of several arguments online. They often involve his half-sister, Kayla B, or Asian Da Brat, someone who regularly tributes the late rapper. The latter was back at it, this time with a woman named Jamiyah as they squabbled over who Von wanted more while throwing around allegations.

Jamiyah tweeted about sneaking around with Von before she and Asian Doll became embroiled in their spat. “I GOT 50k ,  a ring & a HOUSE,” wrote the rapper. “[And] him.” Jamiyah refuted her claims. “Von didn’t give yo ass no 50k ! Stop the cap!!! If he got you a ring you would have been posted it & you got your own house [crying emojis]… Stop stunting for yours fans Girlll he left you!!!!” Von’s ex wasn’t letting up.

“Even tho i never took a plan b u had to get abortions and crackers” Jamiyah tweeted, adding “Didn’t even want a baby by you was scared it was gone be ugly [crying laughing emojis].” Asian Doll retorted, “I ain’t want a baby cause I ain’t no dummy P*ssy too good fasho I GIT CUFFED & WIFE within 2days of knowing him [crying emoji] baby would’ve been beautiful fasho.”

“Tweet about that n*gga who passed away that cuff that weak ass p*ssy leave mines alone he ain’t cuff that weak Sh*t,” replied Doll. “Lil Chlamydiaaaaaaaa.” Jamiyah struck back by saying, “If my p*ssy weak why he kept cheating on you [crying laughing emoji] STUPID MAN.” We don’t suspect that this is the end of the back-and-forth. Vanessa Bryant Checks Meek Mill Over “Insensitive” & “Disrespectful” Kobe Bryant Lyric

After the snippet of an unreleased collaboration with Lil Baby went viral, Meek Mill found himself on the receiving end of backlash. The Philadelphia rapper is heard in the clip rapping the line, “Yeah, and if I ever lack I’m goin’ out with my choppa / It be another Kobe,” and the public quickly denounced him for his choice of bars. Meek seemed defiant in his response and even shared an image of a hat with Kobe Bryant and his late 13-year-old daughter Gianna’s names on it to show he wasn’t being disrespectful, but he didn’t offer the apology that many believe he should have given.

The controversy soon dissipated and new viral moments have taken its place, but almost a week later, Vanessa Bryant has come forward to address the lyrics. “Dear @meekmil , I find this line to be extremely insensitive and disrespectful. Period,” Kobe’s widow shared to her Instagram Story. “I am not familiar with any of your music, but I believe you can do better than this.”

“If you are a fan, fine, there’s a better way to show your admiration for my husband,” she continued. “This lacks respect.” Soon, Meek resurfaced with a tweet. “I’m going back savage in this sh*t … f#%k ya feelings!” he wrote. It’s unclear what he’s referring to, but you can check out the posts below.

Marlo Smith & DJ Paul Chop It Up About NYC’s Drill Scene, Respecting Your Rap Elders & TuneCore

Marlo Smith, New York rapper and previous TuneCore “Heat Seekers” contest winner in April 2020, joined DJ Paul and Odalys in a new episode of Mafia Radio to discuss his grind as an independent artist, his upcoming album, legends in the rap game, the drill scene in New York City, and a shared love for Kanye West, despite the controversy surrounding him.

The rapper is proudly independent, with distribution through TuneCore, a relationship that has resulted in its own rewards, not to mention, the fact that Smith maintains complete control and ownership of his music. Speaking on the independent distribution platform, Smith said, “I have a relationship there that’s super genuine, and they really care about taking my craft to the next level. And they also have a lot of reporting stuff, backend analytics, to show you where your fans at, where that money coming in, all that stuff that you need.” Smith is not missing out on a cent, saying, “They just added TikTok a few months ago, after it started blowing up like crazy. Even Instagram now, when you doing the stories.”

While Smith grew up in Florida, the history and energy of NYC runs in his blood and shines through in his music. Veteran artists still heavily influence the genre today, and DJ Paul took this into account, asking Marlo how he feels about younger artists not necessarily remembering or respecting their elders.

The rapper told DJ Paul that at the end of the day, it’s disrespect. “Even if it wasn’t in rap it would be disrespect because you’re taught to respect your elders,” Smith said. “You come from somewhere; It’s ignorant to think that the thing you’re doing is the only thing that’s been done.” Smith carried on mentioning that whether young artists believe it or not, they are still standing on a foundation that OG rappers built.

While discussing trends and influences in rap, Odalys mentioned the rapid growth of the drill scene in New York. According to the rapper, there isn’t a place you can go without hearing drill music, and he believes the late Pop Smoke took it to an entirely different level. DJ Paul chimed in and mentioned the movie he starred in before his death, Boogie, set to hit theatres on March 5, and wondered about the type of influence he would’ve had on the rap community if he were still alive today.

The Mafia Radio hosts and Marlo clearly believe he was about to take over as an actor as well. “I see a lot of 50 in him,” Smith added.

DJ Paul went on to talk about his love and respect for Kanye, as both an artist and as a fashion icon. The hosts brought up Kanye’s importance to the fashion industry and the quality of Yeezy shoes.

“Yeah you can work out in them, step out in the club in them,” Smith added. “Them things is serious.”
