Boosie Badazz Calls L.A. “The Most Dangerous City”: “They Don’t Play”

Unfortunately, violence in the music industry is something that has plagued the entertainment business since its inception. Artists have lost their lives to accidents, substance abuse, fluke encounters, natural causes—but when someone dies or is injured at the hands of someone else during a violent altercation, the loss carries extra weight. Boosie Badazz knows all about it firsthand after he was shot last year while in Dallas while mourning the loss of Mo3, and later, the Louisiana icon claimed that “nobody has a more dangerous job” than rappers.

It’s not just violence that tends to put fear in artists and fans alike, but incidents that could have devastating outcomes. Lady Gaga’s dog walker and Machine Gun Kelly’s drummer were both attacked and robbed while walking down Hollywood streets, Dr. Dre and Diddy were the victims of robberies at their Los Angeles homes; and people like G-Eazy, Billie Eilish, and Ariana Grande have sought out restraining orders against stalkers who lurk around their L.A. residences. Tinsel Town may be hailed as the movie capital, but celebrities seem to increasingly find themselves as victims in their own neighborhoods.

Boosie caught up with VladTV where they discussed Dr. Dre’s divorce as well as Dre and Diddy’s homes being targeted. The rapper noted that he doesn’t mess around in L.A. “It’s dangerous out here. They got some mothaf*ckas, they don’t play [out here],” said Boosie, before Vlad interjected to add that Diddy was also recently the victim of a robbery, something Boosie wasn’t aware of.

“Damn, man,” Boosie replied. “L.A. the most dangerous city in the world right now.” Check out his clip below.

OMB Peezy Posts Video Showing He’s Out Of Jail Following Arrest

With all of the tragic losses that Hip Hop has endured in recent years, many were hoping that the violence would dissipate. We were struck with bad news a little over a week ago when it was reported that shots were fired on the music video set where Roddy Ricch and 42 Dugg were on location. Three people were injured but were treated at a local hospital and thankfully, there were no fatalities, but it came as a surprise when rapper OMB Peezy was arrested in connection with the shooting.

It’s reported that Peezy, real name LeParis Dade, was taken into custody earlier this week “on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime,” reports the Atlanta Journal & Constitution. The rapper’s bond was reportedly set at $60K and it looks as if OMB Peezy was able to take care of his most recent legal troubles because he posted a video of himself reuniting with his loved ones.

To be released on bond, the AJC stated that Peezy had to also agree to wear an ankle monitor as well as surrender his passport. The details of how investigators tied Peezy to the shooting are not yet known, but we expect authorities to share more information in days to come. OMB Peezy has denied the allegations against him. His album Too Deep For Tears reportedly drops Friday (March 5).

Drake Announces “Scary Hours” Drops Friday As “Certified Lover Boy” Hype Increases

Champagne Papi is preparing to feed the masses. Certified Lover Boy is so close to hitting streaming services that Drake fans can almost hear the sounds of the new album, but the only real updates that have been offered in recent weeks have come from Akademiks. The popular blogger had previously stated, “Drake told me that it’s going to be dropping before April so he’s not waiting until summer to drop his sh*t. I don’t wanna say before April… April or before,” and later shared that Drizzy told him to “sit tight n relax.” The waiting is paying off and it looks like we’ll be receiving a brand new Drake single at the stroke of midnight on Friday (March 5).

The Toronto icon didn’t reveal much information about the release other than the cover art, release date, and of course, title. It’s unclear if “Scary Hours” will have any features or additions, or if this is just a warm-up for what’s to come, but Drake was recently spotted in his hometown filming a music video with his team. It’s not yet known if that set was for “Scary Hours” or another single, but we’ll have to “sit tight n relax,” just as the rapper advised.

You can check out the cover art to “Scary Hours” below along with a brief clip of Drake filming his forthcoming visual and a few reactions from fans. Are you hyped for CLB?

Akademiks Calls Megan Thee Stallion “Overrated,” Claims She Can’t Come Close To Nicki Minaj

Rachel Lindsay had Akademiks in the hot seat during his interview with Higher Learning. The podcast is co-hosted by Lindsay and Van Lathan, and while the three sat down for a virtual chat, Lindsay dug right into Akademiks’s previous remarks about Megan Thee Stallion. Rachel read off Akademiks words where he stated that Megan is an overrated artist who doesn’t have the lyrical skills of most of the other women in the industry, notably Nicki Minaj. Lindsay half-jokingly mentioned that we’re supposed to be in an era where we “uplift Black women,” but Ak stuck to his guns and explained his position.

“I don’t remember all the quotes. No, that sounds good. One hundred percent, I stand by that,” said Akademiks. “I think Meg Thee Stallion is really overrated as actually an artist. I’ve always thought that. I do think the level that she is discussed on when we’re comparing and talking about only Rap, is a byproduct of a lot of industry ties that she has that has kind of lifted her up to be a super-celebrity, which is cool in that realm, but when we just talk about music, it’s not there.”

“Again, I’m not saying things without merit,” said Akademiks. “We can’t really talk about no Meg Thee Stallion project that could come close to Pink Friday. We can’t even talk about any top any Meg Thee Stallion verses that would come close to the top ten Nicki verses. So, again, when I see how, in the last year, she has elevated—and keep in mind in 2019, or maybe actually early 2020, I could be wrong on both dates so don’t kill me, she sold like, 27,000. This is the time when they were saying like, ‘Listen.’ It was Hot Girls versus City Girls, they were saying she’s such a huge star and whatever.”

Akademiks said he understood the call to “uplift Black women,” but added, “When are we gonna talk about some facts?” Check out the clip from the interview below and let us know if you agree with him.
