Chevy Woods Chooses Quality Over Quantity On Eight-Track Project “Mask On”

Last year, Chevy Woods was navigating quarantine during the COVID-19 pandemic to his best abilities. From making sure that he kept quarantine essentials like gin, weed, and snacks on hand to working on new music, Chevy came out of 2020 with Since Birth, an impressive full-length album that boasted the acclaimed track “Escape.” This year, he has already gotten back on his grind, releasing a slew of singles, including, “OG,” “BIG,” and “TXT ME.”

Today, the Taylor Gang artist has returned with the eight-track project Mask On. Clocking in at approximately 24 minutes, Mask On marks Chevy Wood’s shortest project since his 2015 free EP I Love Texas, and it’s bolstered by the previously mentioned single “TXT ME.”

Solely featuring OSBS Smoke, Mask On is a predominantly solo affair for the veteran Taylor Gang artist, and the brief record definitely benefits from the hyper-focused and introspective approach. Mask On’s opening track invites listeners into Chevy’s current state of mind, as he tackles the importance of staying focused and manifesting positivity. Throughout the rest of the project, the Since Birth artist touches on relationship woes, his dedication to maintaining his lifestyle, as well as the anxiety from feeling like he’s constantly being watched due to his celebrity.

Listen to Chevy Wood’s new release, Mask On, below and sound off in the comments if you’re a fan of the Taylor Gang artist’s latest direction.

The pandemic pretty much had everyone in some sort of kerfuffle. It’s not a word we use very often, but it seems an opportune way to describe 2020, or 2021, because really, they are one-in-the-same years at this point. The kerfuffle of the pandemic affected all our lives at some point, in one way or another. Whether it halted your favorite extra-curricular activity, or school altogether, forced you to work from home, or perhaps even took your job from you– it affected family life just as much as it affected work life, not too mention, that fine balance of work-family-life– because when home is also work and work is also home…well, you get the idea. And certainly, some families were affected much more deeply, and more permanently, than others.

Here at HNHH, we had to do some re-shuffling post-pandemic, and one of the elements that fell by the wayside as we transitioned to a WFH/virtual routine among our staff, is that we’ve missed out on quite a few Music Meetings. If you’re new around here, or it’s been so long that you simply don’t even remember this being a thing in the first place, I’ll break it down, and explain how we are going to be accepting submissions moving forward.

The Music Meeting is a way for us to engage with our music-making readers, or else, bring new artists to the table that our staff writers may have recently stumbled across; ideally someone we haven’t featured on the site before. We do this, then, via two different avenues. Read more on the guidelines and how to submit music below.

The Guidelines

  • Each HNHH staff writer attending the meeting submits a song/artist of their personal choosing.
  • We also open up submissions to our readers/followers; this means you will see a Tweet or Instagram post go up stating that we are actively looking for new submissions, ahead of our scheduled Music Meeting. Follow us on Twitter and IG to never miss these.
  • We cull the best of the listener-submitted music to bring to the Music Meeting.
  • We listen to all the listener submissions and staff submission as a team.
  • We vote on our favorite songs, resulting in the final list you will see below.
  • Then we bring the vote to the masses: keep scrolling to vote on your favorite from the list below.

How to Submit Music

  • Previously, we’ve only accepted submissions through Soundcloud messaging. We are now opening up an official e-mail: [email protected], to help maintain submissions from everyone/anyone on a rolling basis. This means, you will not be relegated to the ‘Open Submissions’ message, but can simply e-mail us your music directly, at any time.
  • Submissions are meant for new or rising artists, however the recency of the song is flexible.
  • When e-mailing a submission, the subject line should read Music Submission: [Artist Name] + [Song Name]. Please include in the e-mail: artist name, song name, social media links, link to stream song (video or audio) and any additional facts or things you’d want us to know.

Dana White Ends All Hope For Jon Jones Vs. Francis Ngannou Fight

Jon Jones is one of the most legendary fighters in the history of the UFC although as it stands, it appears as though he wants more money than Dana White is willing to give up. The UFC is known for paying fighters a lot less than they are probably worth, and Jones is trying to change that. Of course, people want Jon Jones to take on Francis Ngannou in a heavyweight superfight, and White seemed determined to make it happen.

While speaking to Bill Simmons recently, White revealed that while they tried to negotiate in good faith, they were simply unable to come to terms on a Jones Vs Ngannou bout. Insteady, Ngannou will be fighting against Derrick Lewis for the Heavyweight title.

“We tried to work with Jon, and, you know, we eventually have to move on. Because realistically, in all honesty, Derrick Lewis is the guy who deserves the (Ngannou) fight … So that’s the fight that should happen and we’ll just roll and do what we do,” White explained.

This is definitely going to come as disappointing news for all of the massive MMA fans out there, especially those who wanted to see what Jones could do in a higher weight class. For now, however, they will simply have to wait until White and Jones get back on the same page.

Post Malone Might Release Two New Projects In 2021, According To His Manager

Post Malone has kept busy lately. He’s getting ready to headline Rolling Loud, he launched new merch for his rosé brand, he got shot by Jason Statham (in a movie, not real life), and he performed at the Grammys. In terms of new music, though, it’s been about a year and a half since Post Malone released his latest album, Hollywood’s Bleeding. It appears he may be gearing up to drop not just one new project in 2021, but a pair of them.

In an Instagram post, Malone’s manager Dre London implied that he and Malone are in agreement that Malone should put out two albums this year. He also noted that one of these projects may arrive sooner than fans might expect, and that the title of one might be revealed soon. Sharing a photos of himself smiling while on the phone, he wrote, “Some would say thats the smile when the wire hits! But for me this isn’t true! It’s even bigger than that! This that smile while on FaceTime with @postmalone agreeing that the world deserves 2 Posty projects out this year! Discussing dates to drop the 1st one sooner than u think! I won’t tell u the title name just yet maybe next week.”

He actually is confirmed to drop something new, though, as he’s teaming up with the Calm app for an hour-long version of “Circles.”

Deshaun Watson & Accusers Trade Allegations Over Deleting Evidence

Deshaun Watson is currently in the midst of some very heavy allegations as he is battling 22 sexual assault lawsuits. All of these suits carry forth similar allegations as they claim that Watson seeks out massage therapists and then proceeds to get inappropriate with them as soon as the massage is supposed to start. Watson has denied the allegations and his attorney Rusty Hardin is currently in the process of trying to discredit the witnesses.

According to Fox reporter Ivory Hecker, Hardin is now claiming that the women are deleting some of the evidence in the case, such as Instagram messages. Hardin is now trying to get the judge to order a stop to this alleged practice, as it could tamper with the case.

What makes Hardin’s allegations interesting is the fact that Tony Buzbee, the attorney for all 22 accusers, also accused Watson of the very same thing. Buzbee states that Watson has been deleting his own messages, although this has yet to be proved.

Needless to say, both sides are looking to use the same tactics against one another, and it’s clear the case has taken a convoluted turn. There is no telling how long this will last, so stay tuned for updates as we will be sure to bring them to you.

DJ Khaled Flexes Last-Minute Justin Timberlake Vocals For “Khaled Khaled”

Khaled Khaled, the forthcoming twelfth studio album from the music industry’s most beloved DJ and record producer, is almost finished. Since announcing the project last summer, DJ Khaled has been sharing updates about his next album in real-time, and over the past few months, the Hip-Hop community has been able to witness the veteran artist ramp up his productivity. So far, Lil Baby, Roddy Ricch, Nas, Migos, Meek Mill, H.E.R., Post Malone, Tay Keith, and Lil Wayne, among others have all been confirmed or teased to appear on Khaled Khaled, so the hype is at an all-time high for DJ Khaled’s upcoming record.

Now, two weeks after proclaiming that Khaled Khaled was 97.9% done, DJ Khaled has alerted his followers that the album has now progressed to being 99% finished.

Apparently, that stretch from 97.9% to 99% has come with a major announcement as well. In a recently shared video by DJ Khaled, the We The Best mogul has revealed that Justin Timberlake will also be making an appearance on the album.

“J U S T I N T I M B E R L A K E VOCALS IS IN!!” Khaled writes in the tweet before expressing his excitement with the last-minute addition to Khaled Khaled. “This LAST MINUTE MAGIC DIFFERENT.”

In the video that DJ Khaled posted, you can hear the two artists talking to each other over facetime, and throughout the one-minute video, they offer each other heartfelt compliments and reflect on how important and rare the unreleased record is. Judging from their conversation, are you excited to see the end result of DJ Khaled and Justin Timberlake‘s forthcoming collaboration?
