A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie’s “Me And My Guitar” Goes Platinum

As any good King Of New York claimant can attest, the numbers must meet an appropriately royal standard. Luckily, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie has it covered in that department, boasting an impressive tally of gold and platinum plaques in his repertoire. In fact, he’s easily one of the most commercially consistent rappers in the game, with a grand total of forty-one RIAA certifications to his name — a tally that now includes a shiny new platinum plaque for his Artist 2.0 highlight “Me And My Guitar.”

In case you need a quick refresher, A Boogie’s “Me And My Guitar,” along with the rest of his third studio album Artist 2.0, was released on Valentine’s Day of 2020. To this day, the appropriately guitar-fueled track has amassed over twenty million views on YouTube alone, remaining a fan-favorite standout from the twenty-track endeavor. In fact, of all A Boogie’s songs to have secured an RIAA certification, “Me And My Guitar” is among the few from Artist 2.0 to hit platinum status. At this moment, the project itself is resting at gold.

We’d like to congratulate A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie for adding another platinum track to his resume, solidifying his reputation as one of the game’s best-selling rappers, as far as the stats are concerned. Keep an eye out for more news on the upcoming album A Boogie Vs Artist — a project all-but-guaranteed to net the rapper another batch of plaques for his collection. In the meantime, revisit the track below.

Post Malone Launches A Merch Line Based On His Rosé Brand, Masion No. 9

In today’s cross-branded world of diversified revenue streams, it seems like every rapper is also an entrepreneur, pitching everything from cannabis to alcohol in addition to their usual array of album and tour merchandise. Post Malone, who has invested in all of the above, seems to have found yet another way to ensure maximum monetization of his ever-expanding portfolio.

Post loves taking an off-kilter approach to marketing himself and now, he’s applying that outlook to his non-music endeavors. Despite only launching his rosé line Maison No. 9 less than a year ago, he and business partners James Morrissey and Dre London have updated the wine’s logo and color scheme and created a Maison No. 9 merch line to draw attention to the young brand. The 2020 vintage of the wine will receive a new look, as well.

The merch is designed by Post himself and includes T-shirts, a hoodie, and a baseball cap. Post will also share seasonal cocktail recipes curated himself. You can check out images of the merch below.

In addition to selling fancy French wine, Post has also jumped into the world of crypto-products, producing an NFT experience for fans to play beer pong with him, and is pursuing acting. He appears as a bank robber in the trailer for Jason Statham’s upcoming action revenge thriller Wrath Of Man after playing an incarcerated criminal in Netflix’s Spencer Confidential.

For His Birthday, Lil Nas X Wants Everybody In The World To Do One Thing For Him

What do you get the person who has everything? Just a few years ago, Lil Nas X wouldn’t have categorized himself as fitting that description, but since then, he’s become an international star thanks to “Old Town Road” and now “Montero (Call Me By Your Name).” The rapper will turn 22 years old tomorrow (April 9), and for his birthday, he has asked his fans (and everybody else) for one simple thing.

Lil Nas X took to Twitter today to make a request of all citizens of Earth, declaring, “for my birthday tomorrow i want everybody on the planet to walk outside at 3pm est and twerk to montero simultaneously.”

Fans can get a head start on that task now with Lil Nas X’s new video game, Twerk Hero. It’s a Guitar Hero– or Dance Dance Revolution-style game in which fans drag the rapper’s rear end (which has some active jiggle physics, to say the least) around and hit the “incoming temptations,” as the game puts it.

“Montero” just recently became Lil Nas X’s first single to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and his second chart-topper overall after “Old Town Road.” He celebrated the feat by putting out a new “Montero” video, which shows off behind-the-scenes footage of making the song.

People On Twitter Are Debating Whether Outkast Is Better Than The Beatles

For the past several decades, The Beatles have been considered one of the greatest rock bands in existence and the measuring stick by which many other popular music acts are measured. In recent years, however, music fans on Twitter have taken to trolling The Beatles’ legacy (and fans) by suggesting that newer groups — particularly ones in hip-hop, such as Migos — are more impactful and popular. The latest group to receive this lofty assessment is Outkast, who for some reason have been injected into the debate on Twitter today, prompting a trending topic and a fiery debate between fans.

While one might expect the division to be intergenerational or split between fans of each genre, many of the most prominent tweets center on longstanding appropriation accusations against The Beatles, with commentators pointing out the influence the band gleaned from existing Black rock and blues artists who came before them. A common argument, the sentiment was even echoed a few years back by no less an authority than Quincy Jones, who called The Beatles “the worst musicians in the world” in an interview with Vulture. Even Eve 6 got involved, using the opportunity to take a wild shot at Radiohead.

Meanwhile, Outkast is being lauded for their innovations to hip-hop music (conveniently overlooking the stylistic quirks they inherited from funk fixtures like P-Funk) and their impact on younger artists (despite receiving a mostly confused reception when they played Coachella in 2014 and many younger music fans being completely unaware of their existence). These quibbles and facts aren’t getting in the way of the spirited, hilarious debate, which you can see more of below.

6ix9ine’s Former Security Guard Dies, Sara Molina Shares Their Messages

Tekashi 6ix9ine’s ex-girlfriend Sara Molina has confirmed the death of Shadow, the rapper’s former security guard. Shadow was one of the more well-known people on 6ix9ine’s team at the height of his career, protecting the controversial rapper as he entered into feuds with dozens of other stars. He built a large following over the years, working as security for people like Drake, Jake Paul, and countless others.

Shadow was remembered by Sara Molina for helping her at one of her lowest points. She shared a log of their text messages, in which she reveals that Shadow helped her following 6ix9ine’s brutal domestic violence incident in Dubai

“I was gonna go on a little break from Instagram but given the circumstances and what I’ve seen happen, I want to give my deepest sincere condolences to Shadow’s family, his kids JJ, Boogie, Mason, and his latest addition Zion, as well as his wife, Christina,” she said. “I know Shadow loved you. Just the way he would talk about you– his ‘Cuban Mami’. Shadow was a great person. He was a great man, he was a family man. I am deeply saddened ’cause I know the impact he made in my life as well as many others.”

Sara went on to reveal that Shadow helped her during a domestic violence incident with 6ix9ine in Dubai, which she has described on multiple occasions. Sharing their text messages from September 2019, Shadow expressed gratitude that Sara had come forward with her abuse allegations, saying that he would explain what truly happened if he ever wrote a book. He also says he “put hands on” Tekashi after he beat up Sara, revealing what he told the rapper at the time.

Read their messages below. Rest in peace, Shadow.

DJ Khaled Hits Jamaica To Finish Album: “97.9% DONE”

DJ Khaled’s upcoming album Khaled Khaled has been in the works for some time now, a process that the affable mogul has documented with relatively open arms. In other words, he’s managed to be simultaneously open and secretive about the project, teasing several possible collaborators without sharing even the slightest snippet of the music to come.

We’ve seen him connecting with the likes of Lil Baby, Roddy Ricch, Migos, Jay-Z, Nas, Travis Scott, Post Malone, H.E.R, and many more — a lineup that should intrigue even the most ardent Khaled detractor. And while he has yet to reveal a possible release date for the project, Khaled has confirmed that Khaled Khaled is in the final stages of its completion. For those remaining (and no doubt stubborn) percentiles, Khaled has opted to return to Jamaica and lock-in.

“ALBUM 97.8% DONE!” he captions, sharing a glimpse at his lush surroundings. “I’m on the Holy Mountain. On the holy ground getting it done! This is where I do my best work. The Holy Mountain is over 100 acres and the album takes 100% to get done! Let’s work!” Khaled also confirmed that he connected with Buju Banton, with whom he previously linked on Father Of Asahd highlight “Holy Mountain.” Expect to see the pair come through with another one, to quote Khaled’s preferred parlance.

After sharing the 97.8 percent update, Khaled confirmed in a subsequent picture that the needle moved ever-so-slightly up to 97.9. “I’m saying to myself, how the fuck did this happen,” reflects an awestruck Khaled, utterly devoid of context. One thing, however, is certain — the hitmaker is undeniably stoked for this one to come to light, and given his love of the summertime release, we have to believe that the time is coming soon.

Check out some pictures from DJ Khaled’s Jamaican excursion below.

Quotable Lyrics:

That’s hate in your heart, probably was hate from the start
Planning to pick them apart, look at the art
Trip over any remark and I’m diving right next to a shark
Give it a spark, look out the door, see the park is ugly when you in the dark
Passing by Clark, smokin’ big Texas, I thought to myself how I make it this far?

Rich Homie Quan Returns With New Single “Daily Bread”

Rich Homie Quan has his foot back in the door and there’s no way he’s stepping out this time. Following up on 2019’s Coma project, the Atlanta-born rapper has woken up and he’s ready to get back in the game.

For too long, he’s been one of the more underappreciated artists of his generation. Following his falling out with Young Thug and Birdman, RHQ had a tough time garnering the same sort of attention that his Rich Gang collaborator was getting. Thugger grew to new heights but Rich Homie was left behind, refusing to go mainstream and sticking to his brand of street music. As he continues to consistently release good singles and projects, fans are excited to be gifted a brand new record from the 31-year-old this week.

Dropping the video for “Daily Bread” on Thursday, Rich Homie Quan has officially returned and he’s angling to stay around for a while longer. The self-directed video takes place at his house as he spends time with his girlfriend, watching Kobe Bryant highlights by the pool and enjoying life. See how Rich Homie has been living in the video below.

Quotable Lyrics:

Got my foot back in, ain’t no way I’m gone let up
Bought thousand-dollar shoes just to go to church in
I spent forty-thousand on my latest purchase
It’s hate to see that hate through the Maybach curtains
Ain’t no man on earth I will ever worship
Had to keep it in the streets, I couldn’t go commercial
