Kodak Black Not Happy About New Song With YNW Melly

There wasn’t much promotion done ahead of time for YNW Melly’s new song “Thugged Out”, which features the recently-freed rapper Kodak Black. The two Florida-bred artists delivered a standout song on Thursday night but, shortly after it was released, Kodak had some words about the mix, calling out how his vocals were mixed off-beat.

“Dam They Got Me Off Beat Af On This Melly Song SMH,” said Kodak in a since-deleted tweet. “We Gone Have To Revisit This One Later..” Fans were quick to react to the tweet, telling Kodak that the song was still fire and that it should be kept the way it was. YNW Melly even responded (from behind bars, no less) and told the superstar rapper that his team was figuring it out. “We getting dat bih rite it’s melvin n yak stop playing with our top engenier [sic],” said the incarcerated artist.

The new song, titled “Thugged Out”, is among one of the more exciting releases from last night’s slate of new music. It marks the latest collaboration between Kodak Black and YNW Melly, who have been mutually supportive throughout their equally troubling legal situations

Listen to the song above and let us know if you hear what Kodak is talking about. Do you think the song sounds fine, or should it be reworked?

Denzel Curry & Kenny Beats Link With Benny The Butcher For “Diet 1.5”

While not quite a new Denzel Curry album, nor a new Kenny Beats album for that matter, the recently released Unlocked 1.5 remains a welcome holdover all the same. Featuring a more-or-less complete musical overhaul of the 2020 collaborative project, one lined with notable guest appearances from the duo’s collective contact list, it’s no surprise that some of the reimagined cuts standing out as arguable improvements. And naturally, when Benny The Butcher steps into the booth, such things should be expected.

Though some of the tracks opted for a production facelift, the simple banger that is “Diet” needed no alteration. Over a style of instrumental he seldom tackles, The Butcher showcases his versatility as he lets fly the bars we’ve come to expect. “All these racks in the ceiling got rappers back in they feelings,” he spits. “Treat the game like Trump voters did the Capitol building / In a 600 Maybach, the only passenger in it, ain’t got no cash for the dealer if don’t no stashes come in it.”

Alas, no new bars from Denzel, so there’s no telling how hard he might have snapped when rapping alongside The Butcher. At least, not yet — now that the pair has broken the barrier of collaboration, perhaps we’ll see another one in due time. Check out “Diet 1.5,” as well as the album from whence it came, right here.

Juice WRLD Posthumously Links Up With Post Malone And Clever On ‘Life’s A Mess II’

Juice WRLD passed away a bit over a year ago now, but that actually hasn’t had a drastic impact on his musical output. The late rapper has made a number of posthumous appearances since his death, and now the latest one is “Life’s A Mess II,” a collaboration with Post Malone and Clever.

The track is a follow-up to Juice and Halsey’s collaboration “Life’s A Mess” and Clever previously explained, “the juice wrld record is a different version of ‘Life’s a Mess’ by Juice and Halsey. I was on that record before Halsey- and the beat got changed- this version I have is the version Juice wanted as far as the beat goes. it has more of an acoustic vibe.. but with a verse from me on it- oh and this other artist you may have heard of named Post Malone
.”

Clever also wrote of the song on Instagram, “This song means so much to me.. everything was working against it- the devil tried so hard to keep it from happening- but it’s out. I wish Juice was here to see this- Thank you for everything. I love you. 999 til the world burns.” In another post from over the weekend, he also wrote, “for an artist that came up under Grade A while Juice was opening the doors for artist like me and Seezyn and Laroi- and then doing a collaboration deal before we lost Juice- between Grade A and Posty Co- a song with me in the middle of Juice and Post Malone couldn’t be more fitting. It really means a lot to me and I hope you enjoy it.”

Drake Fans Are Loving “Scary Hours 2”: Top Reactions

The hype couldn’t be any stronger for Drake to release his next studio album Certified Lover Boy and, following the release of his three-pack Scary Hours 2, that much is crystal clear. The Toronto superstar is still at the top of his game, impressing his fans with his latest release, striking gold on yet another near-perfect display.

It may be a little too early to tell but there are some clear favorites coming to the forefront from Drake’s new release. Trending on Twitter right now is the term “Lemon Pepper Freestyle” with thousands of people reacting to the new track from Drake and Rick Ross. The unofficial duo admittedly loves to work together in the studio, and they made magic again with “Lemon Pepper Freestyle”. Drake’s 4-minute verse is being hailed as one of his greatest ever and, again, while it may be too early to determine that, he definitely did go off.

Of course, people are also reacting favorably to the previously-leaked single “What’s Next”, for which The Boy also released a music video. Lil Baby additionally complements him on “Wants and Needs”.

This release will surely take over the charts for the next week, but which song do you think will ultimately win the race for the highest position on the Billboard Hot 100? What are your thoughts on Scary Hours 2? Check out some reactions below.

Pop Smoke & Polo G Join Forces On “Fashion”

Pop Smoke is no longer with us, but his team has ensured that his legacy will be kept alive through the release of posthumous music. With today marking the arrival of the Boogie soundtrack, which features new music from Pop, Polo G, Sheff G, 10k Mula, Jacquees, and more, many were quick to check out “Fashion,” a duet between two of the game’s most acclaimed young talents. Though not Pop Smoke and Polo G’s first collab, having recently connected on “Woo Shit,” it’s a welcome continuation of chemistry that deserves further exploration.

Unsurprisingly, the instrumental is a hard-hitting Brooklyn drill banger, the likes of which Pop Smoke previously made a habit of attacking. Over warbling synthesizers and rapid-fire percussion, Pop Smoke sets a luxurious tone as he pursues the bag while decked in the finest attire. For the most part, his flow is on the methodical side, a contrast to how he usually approaches a beat. On the other hand, Polo G provides a welcome contrast with a high-intensity verse, his strong technical chops making him adept at tackling the drill sound when the occasion calls for it.

And you know that I kept me a strap

Chance The Rapper Snaps On Self-Produced SIngle “The Heart & The Tongue”

Regardless of how you feel about Chance the Rapper’s polarizing debut album The Big Day, the Chicago rapper is still one of the most gifted artists in Hip-Hop. Since the release of The Big Day, Chance has been constantly bouncing back in forth between praise and ridicule, having starred in Netflix’s Rhythm + Flow as well as endured an ugly legal battle with his ex-manager Pat Cocoran. Now, in his raw new single “The Heart & The Tongue,” the Acid Rap artist admits that he feels conflicted as of late.

Today, the rapper shared “The Heart & The Tongue” as a self-directed music video posted to YouTube. Over the course of its 2:38-runtime, Chance bodies the sample-driven production (produced by himself as well as DexLvL) and candidly reflects on the conflict that he’s been facing personally as well as the contradicting politics of socety. From calling out public leaders to reflecting on his bouts of complacency, “The Heart & The Tongue” is a more than welcomed new effort from Chance, and hopefully, it serves as a sample of the rapper’s current musical direction.

How are you feeling about Chance the Rapper’s first single of 2021?

Quotable Lyrics

I want the beat to feel like diegesis
I’m tired of politicians tryna sell us diet Jesus
That’s like dialysis was tryna sell us diabetes
Act like you was born yesterday and you gon’ die a fetus
The mind’s philosophy is old as Thales of Miletus
The mind is quite elitist, that’s why they like choir preachers
They buy our leaders easier than I can buy a feature

YNW Melly & Kodak Black Unite On “Thugged Out”

YNW Melly is one of the most talented melodists in recent years to come out of Florida, but his legal history has fans divided on whether he should be given the chance to return to the public. Charged in the double murder of his two close friends, YNW Melly remains incarcerated as he faces the death penalty. His trial has not begun yet but his team continues to promise fans that he’ll be returning home soon, despite the fact that he’s been away for over two years.

Still, Melly has been giving his supporters a lot of new music to digest during this troubling period. He released Melly Vs. Melvin from behind bars in 2019, and he officially shared his new single “Thugged Out” with the recently-freed Kodak Black on Thursday night.

The song’s release didn’t come without its share of controversy as, shortly after it dropped, Kodak took to Twitter to call out the mix engineer, saying that his verse was offbeat. “Dam They Got Me Off Beat Af On This Melly Song SMH,” he wrote. “We Gone Have To Revisit This One Later.” YNW Melly wrote back that everything was being handled by his team, and from the sounds of the song, it may have already been fixed.

Listen to “Thugged Out” below and let us know what you think.

Quotable Lyrics:

Free Melly, I’m in the same old boat
I’ma need some dope, I slide the C.O. a note
I got a few n***as who hidin’ in PC
‘Cause they already knowin’ it’s up when they see me
Speakin’ sign language to my brother
Told him to make me another cutter, my mind in the gutter
I ain’t no slime, but I fuck with YNW
