Dr. Dre Ordered To Pay Nicole Young’s Divorce Lawyers $500K: Report

Nearly a year after Dr. Dre and Nicole Young announced their divorce, the pair is just that much closer to their legal split. The contentious divorce has played out in real-time as Dre and Nicole battle it out over their billion-dollar empire, and there have been accusations slung left and right. Nicole has alleged that her estranged husband was physically abusive and stated he was carrying on multiple affairs. Dr. Dre has denied her allegations.

The megaproducer was recently declared legally single and it’s a sign that he and his wife may reach a solution sooner than later. The Daily Mail reports that Dre’s attorneys were in court once again yesterday (April 27), and during the hearing, the Aftermath mogul was ordered to pay Nicole’s divorce lawyers $500K.

Young reportedly wants Dre to dish out $2 million per month in support as well as pay her $5 million in attorney fees. Instead, a Los Angeles judge issued the half-million-dollar judgment and will reevaluate other aspects of the divorce at their next hearing on July 8. It’s reported that Dre will also have to cough up that $500K within 10 days.

After suffering from a brain aneurysm earlier this year, Dr. Dre reportedly gave his wife $2 million. Nicole has made claims that Dre has $260 million in cash and Apple stocks. She also added that in their 24 years of marriage, they spent approximately $2.4 million per month to keep up with their lifestyle.

Kodak Black Sentenced To Probation After Pleading Guilty In His 2016 Sexual Assault Case

Kodak Black will avoid jail time in his sexual assault case that dates back to a 2016 incident. According to CBS affiliate WBTW, the rapper entered a guilty plea for assaulting a high school student, an act he was indicted for on first-degree sexual assault charges back in 2017. Under the deal, Kodak pled guilty to lesser charges of first-degree assault and battery. As a result, rather than the suspended 10-year sentence that he originally faced, he’ll be on probation for 18 months.

According to 12th Circuit Solicitor Ed Clements, the victim in the case was present during the court proceeding and agreed to the terms of the plea deal, which also included Kodak vocally taking responsibility for his actions, agreeing to undergo counseling, and publicly apologizing to the victim, which he did in court. He was also joined by Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson in court. Earlier this year, Jackson called for former President Donald Trump to commute Kodak’s 2019 sentence on weapons charges. Trump eventually pardoned him on his final day in office, something Kodak celebrated on his “Last Day In” single.

On a more recent note, Kodak’s security guard was shot earlier this month. The incident occurred in a Tallahassee, Florida McDonald’s parking lot and left the security guard with a bullet wound in his leg.

Kodak Black is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Joseline Hernandez Checks Wendy Williams Over Negative Comments

There aren’t many entertainers who have used their time on the Wendy Williams Show to put the famed host in her place, but Joseline Hernandez decided to capitalize off of her opportunity. Williams’s often harsh or callous commentary about pop culture has rubbed quite a few celebrities the wrong way, yet still, they return to her show to promote their brands.

Like many others, Joseline has been on the receiving end of Williams’s rough remarks, and while visiting Wendy’s show, she let her voice be heard. “I just feel like, every time I come to your show, you don’t give me those flowers now,” said Joseline. “And Wendy, you’re thirty-five years my senior. I should get those flowers.” Wendy interrupted Joseline to let her know that she noticed the subtle jab. “Shade,” said Wendy.

“I should feel wanted by people like you,” Joseline continued. “Not just me. All the other young girls… We feel like you be tryin’ us. We feel like you don’t be really rooting for us. You know, especially with me. Every time I come to your show, you always want to compare me to another broad… I’ve made my own brand! I’ve made my own brand for years.”

Joseline listed her accomplishments, including being in the industry for a decade and building her own reality shows and businesses since her start on Love & Hip Hop Atlanta. Wendy countered by saying she, too, feels undervalued and underpaid, but Joseline wasn’t letting her off of the hook.
“I came from the gutter. I came from the streets!” said Joseline.

“Give me that respect Ms. Wendy Williams. We love you, but at the same time, you have to do better.” The reality star said that when people come to her show, especially as it pertains to Black women, Williams shouldn’t be as critical because she knows how hard it is to establish yourself in the industry.

Wendy was unmoved and added that her experiences have made her harder on women because she believes that some “can do better.” Watch the uncomfortable exchange below.

Michael B. Jordan Reveals If He’s Set To Be The Next Superman

We like to think that rappers have the most dedicated fanbases, but superhero fans are unmatched. Comic books have been a part of millions of people’s lives as fans hold onto childhood memories of their favorite heroes and villains, and whenever there is talk about an actor donning a superhero suit, it sends Hollywood into a tizzy.

Celebrated writer Ta-Nehisi Coates has been tapped to write the next Superman script with Warner Bros. and J.J. Abrams at the helm. The Hollywood Reporter previously shared that it will be a film that centers around a Black Superman, and because of Michael B. Jordan’s Black Panther relationship with Coates, many believed that the actor would put on the skintight, blue uniform

The discussions around Jordan’s potential portrayal have been a mixed bag as purists want no one other than a Clark Kent lookalike to continue the legacy while others are excited about the possibility of switching things up. Jordan was asked about his Superman future during a chat with THR, and it doesn’t look like he’ll be our next superhero. At least not the Man of Steel.

“It’s smart of DC to grab Ta-Nehisi to go ahead and adapt that project,” Jordan told the publication. “He’s incredibly talented. It’s going to be worth checking out. I’m flattered that people have me in that conversation. It’s definitely a compliment, but I’m just watching on this one.”

Are you looking forward to this Superman film? Who should tackle the title role?

Travis Scott Wins An Award For His Philanthropic Efforts For HBCU Students

While Travis Scott has amassed a number of awards in his career, his latest comes as a result of his work with public service. According to Billboard, the Astroworld rapper was recently awarded for his philanthropic efforts for HBCU students, specifically his work with Red Carpet Advocacy (RAD) Awards, which highlights people who “inspire purpose.” Scott was one of five recipients of the award, joining a list that includes Laverne Cox, Charlize Theron, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Margot Robbie.

Some of Scott’s past charitable contributions include paying off the tuition of five students at historically Black colleges and universities, which he did back in October. A month later he created the Cactus Jack Foundation, and a few months later, he partnered with his Houston hometown to deliver 50,000 meals to residents after the state’s brutal ice storm. The foundation also launched its first major initiative, the Waymon Webster Scholarship program, named after the rapper’s grandfather, who attended an HBCU, and aimed at granting several HBCU students with scholarships. First-round selections have already been made through the program for potential recipients that were enrolled at Prairie View A&M University, Howard University, Morehouse College, Texas Southern University, and Grambling State University.

The award arrives after Scott was listed as a headliner for Rolling Loud’s Miami festival with Post Malone, ASAP Rocky, and others.

Willow Smith Is Polyamorous, Debunks Claims That It’s “Centered Around Sex”

Two years ago, Willow Smith revealed on Red Table Talk that she was interested in polyamorous relationships. At the time, Willow seemed as if she was just exploring the concept, but cut to the most recent episode of the show and the 20-year-old has adopted the lifestyle. More young people are becoming comfortable with polyamory and erasing the stigmas attached to being in loving relationships with more than one partner, and Willow wanted to share her experience.

“With polyamory, I feel like the main foundation is the freedom to be able to create a relationship style that works for you and not just stepping into monogamy because that’s what everyone around you says is the right thing to do,” said the singer.

“So I was like, how can I structure the way that I approach relationships with that in mind? Also, doing research into polyamory, the main reasons why monogamous relationships—or why marriage, why divorces happen is infidelity.” Willow’s “Gammy” Adrienne Banfield-Jones admitted that when she thought of a polyamorous relationship, she believed it was “centered around sex.” Willow gave her an example to help her understand.

“Let’s say you haven’t always been the kind of person that wanted to have sex all the time,” said Willow. “But your partner is. Are you gonna be the person to say, you know, ‘Just because I don’t have these needs, you can’t have them either?’ And so that’s kind of one of the reasons why I actually was interested in poly because I was introduced to it through kind of a nonsexual lens,” she added. “In my friend group, I’m the only polyamorous person, and I have the least sex out of all of my friends.”

Willow’s mother, Jada Pinkett-Smith, also stated, “Most people are practicing monogamy because they feel like they have no other choice. We all know that most people out here [are] doing unethical non-monogamy any-damn-way. Okay?”
