J. Cole Dropping New Single “Interlude” Tonight

Given how much hype J. Cole’s recently announced The Off-Season has sparked, it’s hard not to feel like the project is dropping this midnight. Alas, that’s not the case, as Cole’s latest is due out on Friday, May 14th. Save for that, little else is known about the project — though it has already received glowing reviews from Dreamville’s own Cozz and Bas, with both claiming that it’s some of his best work yet.

In a clever move, understandable given how much excitement currently surrounds The Off-Season, J. Cole has come forward to capitalize on the rampant momentum. Even if it does go against his original intention of releasing a linear listening experience meant to be consumed by fresh ears. “Told myself I would drop the album all at once,” he wrote, on Twitter. “Sometimes you gotta say fuck it tho. New song tonight. 12 o’clock. “i n t e r l u d e” from The Off-Season.”

A welcome development indeed, as “interlude” should go a long way in providing a glimpse at what Cole we’ll be receiving on this latest release. With recent solo albums favoring a more conceptual and thematically dense approach, some have speculated that we’ll be seeing another introspective drop from the lyricist. Yet others have noted a “mixtape” energy surrounding Cole’s newer music, leading to theories that he’ll be letting loose and lyrically flexing on those in need of a reminder.

Either way, we don’t have to wait much longer to find out, as the first look at The Off-Season is coming in a matter of hours. Stay tuned, and be sure to check back tonight at midnight to catch “interlude” when it drops in full. Are you excited for J. Cole’s new album?

James Harden Offers Positive Update On His Injury Recovery

James Harden was destined for a huge season with the Brooklyn Nets following his trade from the Houston Rockets. In the early stages of the season, Harden even seemed to be MVP worthy as he was putting up incredible stats all while showing some chemistry alongside Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant. Unfortunately, just a couple of months ago, Harden went down with a hamstring injury and he hasn’t been able to come back to the lineup since then.

Now, according to Malika Andrews of ESPN, Harden is giving an update on his injury and it seems to be quite positive news. For now, Harden says he is feeling good and is trying to develop a wide range of movements especially when it comes to both speed and changing direction. It also seems like he will be ready just in time for the playoffs.

The Nets are already guaranteed a spot in the postseason and they will likely finish at least second in the Eastern Conference. With this in mind, there is no point rushing Harden back if they truly don’t need him back. The postseason is what truly matters and having Harden back at 100 percent should be the ultimate priority.

Stay tuned to HNHH as we will continue to bring you the latest news from the basketball world.

DJ Khaled, Migos, & H.E.R. Unite For “We Going Crazy” Video

DJ Khaled’s Khaled Khaled has arrived, unsurprisingly securing the number one spot on the Billboard charts — a tradition for the mogul, save for a few exceptions of course. This time, however, the sailing was smooth as its ever been, and Khaled’s star-studded project continues to rack up the streams. In an effort to bring the album to life on all fronts, he’s dropped off yet another new video, this time for the Migos & H.E.R-assisted “We Going Crazy.”

Directed by Joseph Kahn, the video opens with a triumphant action shot of Khaled on his jetski, focused as he escapes an explosion behind him. Fast forward to an island setting, where H.E.R appears to be in the midst of recovering from a shipwreck of sorts. Luckily, the CIROC stash washed ashore unharmed, a small blessing provided our heroes have the wherewithal to ration it accordingly.

Those who have been following his career know that there isn’t a body of water that Khaled won’t plunge into. Before long, he’s leaping into a lagoon with unexpected grace. That’s not to say the activities are strictly aquatic. Khaled’s island getaway package includes a spelunking adventure, featuring a guided tour and commentary — as well as a complimentary cavern feast — from Offset, Takeoff, and Quavo. Check out the clip for yourself now, and sound off if you’re enjoying the many visuals that Khaled Khaled has been yielding so far.

Air Jordan 12 “Utility” Coming Soon: First Look

Utility branded sneakers have always been highly sought after due to the fact that they mostly help out sneakerheads who are looking for something that will hold up in adverse weather conditions. For instance, no one wants to wear their regular Jordans when it is raining outside as there is always a slim chance that something bad could happen to them. However, Utility shoes typically have some sort of material that makes them hold up better in a storm, which makes them such a great choice.

According to the Instagram sneaker insider @zsneakerheadz, the next Jumpman Utility shoe to be placed on the market will be the Air Jordan 12. In the images below, you can see that the shoe mostly has a black leather upper, all while orange is peaking throughout. From there, the midsole is blue with some white speckles inside of it, which is definitely a unique touch. Overall, these definitely fit the Utility billing and we can’t wait to see these in action once they release this summer.

The drop date has reportedly been set for August 28th although this is subject to change. Let us know what you think of the shoe, in the comments section below.

Plies Drops A Political Hot Take: “The Next President In America Should Be A Female”

Having a political opinion in 2021 is kind of like wearing a mask — everyone has one at this point, yet nobody quite likes them and we all would rather some people just stay home with theirs. However, there’s no escaping political opinions in the form of tweets, which rapper Plies gave a shot at recently. However, you might just agree with his take on who should be the next leader of the free world.

Plies says Next President In America Should Be Female

“The Next President In America Should Be A Female!!!!!!,” Plies wrote with an ample amount of exclamation points to follow suit. The reactions from his just over 971,000 followers were mainly those agreeing, with the original tweet garnering over 1,000 likes since he posted it yesterday morning (May 5). He added a few more political hot takes while he was on a roll, also adding in a follow-up tweet, “That’s The Problem With America To Many People Scared Of Change!!!!” He got even more verbal on the subject with a detailed message, writing, “As A Politician U Have To Swear To Protect & Uphold The Constitution. But As A Person Of Color How Do U Swear To Protect & Uphold Something That U Know Was Written @ A Time That Wasn’t Fair To People Of Color? This Is A Question I Always Wanted Answered. Can Someone Give Clarity?”

Many followers felt his opinion wholeheartedly, with one user co-signing (“I agree. #womenslivesmatter”), another trying to see why Biden is being rushed out so quickly (“He just got in office hold up cuhh”) and another who got a handful of favorites by giving a more thought-focus response by writing, “The next president of America should be chosen based on policy not symbolism!”

Do you agree with Plies? It might get a little tense in the comments section down there, but let us know your political opinions below:

DMX Made History With “Ruff Ryders’ Anthem”

DMX’s debut album It’s Dark And Hell Is Hot is a haunting and brutally honest deconstruction of one of rap’s most fascinating writers. Not only does it feature some of his most compelling material from a thematic standpoint, but it also happens to feature the highest-charting song of his entire career in “Ruff Ryders Anthem.”

Released twenty-three years ago on May 5th, 1998, the Swizz Beatz-produced classic was actually a major stylistic departure for the Yonkers lyricist. Fueled by Swizzy’s Atlanta influences, which stemmed from his time spent in the thriving hip-hop hub, the instrumental was not exactly well-received by X — at least, not at first. Hard to believe, given how many people have come to appreciate the timeless banger as one of his definitive tracks. At once intimidating and infectious, X’s militant delivery showcased a superstar’s versatility — not to mention the eternally important ability to navigate the mainstream without sacrificing his artistic identity.

It’s safe to say that there will never be another artist like DMX. Rest in peace to one of the greatest to ever do it, and be sure to give “Ruff Ryders’ Anthem” a spin in his honor.

QUOTABLE LYRICS

Is y’all ni**as crazy? I’ll bust you and be Swayze
Stop actin’ like a baby, mind your business, lady
Nosy people get it too, when you see me spit at you
You know I’m tryin’ to get rid of you, yeah I know, it’s pitiful
That’s how ni**as get down, watch my ni**as spit rounds
Make y’all ni**as kiss ground just for talkin’ shit, clown
Oh, you think it’s funny? Then you don’t know me, money

Tokyo Olympics Athletes Banned From Wearing “BLM” Apparel

A ban has been placed on protests and political messaging at the upcoming Tokyo Olympics, which includes any apparel that contains “Black Lives Matter” or “BLM” logos. Multiple reports confirm that participating athletes will not be allowed to Black Lives Matter apparel during the duration of the Games.

The Associated Press reports that BLM slogans will be allowed during other parts of the Olympics, including during interviews, press conferences, and team meetings, but athletes will be banned from protesting through their clothing. If the messaging is used by athletes during the ceremony, on the podium, or during competition, they could be subject to punishment from the IOC.

Previously, we saw heavy political messaging during the NBA Finals, which took place inside the bubble in Orlando, Florida. Many teams kneeled during the National Anthem and protested before and after games. The league also had prominent Black Lives Matter messaging on the court and on official apparel.

The IOC reports that the decision to ban political messaging during the Games was made after a majority of athletes deemed it an appropriate choice. “A very clear majority of athletes said that they think it’s not appropriate to demonstrate or express their views on the field of play, at the official ceremonies or at the podium,” said IOC Athletes Commission chief Kirsty Coventry. “So our recommendation is to preserve the podium, field of play and official ceremonies from any kind of protest or demonstrations or acts perceived as such.”

What do you think about this decision?
