Toosii & Mulatto Team Up On “5’5”

DaBaby wasn’t lying when he said Toosii is the hottest up-and-comer during an interview last year. While the budding rapper was only beginning to build a strong buzz, he’s built a dedicated fanbase that continues to ride with him. Hence why titled his new project, Thank You For Believing.

The 13-song project marks a formal debut of sorts while the rapper showcases his growth and maturity in his sound. While many tracks tap into his emotional side, he does come through with more than a few bangers. On “5’5,” Toosii connects with Mulatto for an R&B-influenced jam that finds both artists sharing their own perspectives when it comes to love.

DMX Tearfully Opens Up About Reconciling With His Mother In Last Interview

DMX passed away roughly a month ago following complications stemming from a cardiac arrest. For his irrefutable impact on the rap landscape, the late Yonkers legend will forever be immortalized. Part of keeping his legacy alive in a tasteful manner is presenting him in depictions approved by those closest to him. 

Posthumous releases are often the subject of criticism because of their perceived profit off someone’s passing. DMX’s final interview “DMX Uncensored,” set to air on TV One, provides an intimate look into the mind of the late rap legend. In the interview, he spoke about healing his relationship with his mother after reuniting on an episode of Couple’s Therapy in 2012.

“Me and my wife went to couple’s therapy…I just remember mentioning some things about my mother, and we was in one of our counseling sessions one day and the lady said, ‘How would you feel if you saw your mother right now?’ And I’m like, I don’t know…and as soon as she asked my mother came in, she walked right through the door,” explained X before tearing up. 

He went on, “She walked in the door and I think it was at that point right there, I just let everything go. She crying, I’m crying, I don’t know it wasn’t a hurt cry it was, like, yes, this is what I need. Yeah.”

X has been vocal about the traumatic abuse he faced at the hands of his mother in the past. In numerous interviews, he noted his mother would physically abuse him before sending him away to a group home.

Lou Phelps, the brother of Kaytranada, has been having himself a huge come up and he continues to build on his sound with each new release.

Azizi Gibson Shares New Single “THEM?!”

This week, the rapper brought back the grim reaper for his latest offering, “THEM?!” The cover art references the same ominous figure pictured on the cover of Reaping The Benefits. “THEM?!” is a glossy banger that would appeal to many of his day-one fans. Jay-Z Reportedly Filed A New Trademark For A TV And Film Production Company

Jay-Z has spent the bulk of 2021 buying and selling a number of companies he either owned or invested in. According to TMZ, his latest move brings him into the world of TV and film production. The publication reports that Jay recently filed a trademark through S. Carter Enterprises for the name “2/J” under the category of “entertainment services in the nature of creation, development, and production” for television programming, TV series, movies, and similar projects. The new trademark would suggest that Jay is entering the media and television business, following in the footsteps of names like 50 Cent (G-Unit Film & Television) and LeBron James (SpringHill Company).

This comes just a couple of weeks after the rapper’s investment firm Marcy Venture Partners teamed up with former MLB baseball player Adrian Gonzalez to invest in the Los Angeles-based LIT Method, a fitness company launched by Justin and Taylor Norris back in May 2020. Larry Marcus, co-founder and managing director of Marcy Venture Partners, spoke about the move in a statement. “Justin and Taylor are tenacious and adaptive entrepreneurs with so much drive and passion,” he said. “Their engaging content, motivating style, and innovative equipment are a winning combination.”

Prior to that, Jay-Z sold half of his champagne company, Ace Of Spades, to LVHM for what Forbes estimates was a $315 million deal. He later sold his streaming service, Tidal, to Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey’s Square for $297 million in cash and stocks. In exchange, Jay was given a seat on the mobile payments company’s board.

Jay-Z Joins The NFT World With $19 Million Investment Venture

Jay-Z does not rest when it comes to making the right investment ventures to earn him a proper return. He owns his own liquor brands, marijuana line, and just recently reportedly filed paperwork to trademark “2/J” for TV and film production. That all being considered, fresh off selling his Tidal venture to Jack Dorsey’s Square for a cool $350 million, he’s now ready to enter the world of NFTs.

NFT marketplace Bitski, which describes itself as the “Shopify for NFTs,” revealed on Thursday (May 6) that Jay-Z’s Marcy Venture Partners are included in the list of investors who pumped $19 million into the San Francisco-based startup company. The team of investors also includes Roc Nation co-founder Jay Brown, Troy Carter, 3LAU, and more.

New investors for Bitski also include Marcy Ventures, Metapurse, Andrew Gertler’s AG Ventures, Trevor McFedries (Creator of Miquela); Night Media (MrBeast), Serena Williams, Wendi Murdoch, in addition to senior executives at TikTok, Snapchat, Twitter, 100 Thieves, Adobe and even more. 

The aim of Bitski is to provide a more simple platform for brands, game developers, and consumers to create, buy and sell digital goods in one space.

This already seems to be shaping up to be a good investment for Hov in the long run. These days, it seems like all the rave is about NFTs. A few exclusive digital goods being sold on the platform include Kurt Cobain’s final photoshoot and some of XXXTentacion’s unreleased SoundCloud songs.

6ix9ine Could Be Forced To Pay Millions To Robbery Victims

Back in 2018, 6ix9ine felt like he was untouchable as he roamed around the United States with the Nine Trey Bloods at his side. In April of 2018, 6ix9ine got wrapped up in a pretty serious case as his associates robbed two men by the name of Seketha “Skyy L. Daniels” Wonzer and Kevin Dozier. At the time, 6ix9ine and company thought the two men were a part of Rap-A-Lot Records although it turned out to be a huge misunderstanding with a dash of mistaken identity.

When 6ix9ine snitched on his associates back in 2019, he admitted to the robbery of Wonzer and Dozier. Back in 2020, 6ix9ine was hit with a lawsuit in relation to this robbery and according to AllHipHop, 6ix9ine and his lawyers have completely ignored the suit. The rapper was supposed to respond on April 23rd but he never did, and now, the lawyer for the two men, Matthew G. DeOreo, wants justice.

DeOreo has now sent a letter to the judge asking for a default judgment, which means 6ix9ine would have to pay up. This lawsuit is worth millions of dollars and considering 6ix9ine’s current situation, that might be too much to cover. Regardless, blowing off the lawsuit was a poor idea, and now, it could cost the rapper dearly.

Air Jordan 1 Low “Shattered Backboard” Coming Soon: First Look

During the early going of Michael Jordan’s basketball career, he got to play a charity game in Italy, where he ended up shattering the backboard with a huge dunk. This play was immortalized due to the fact that a chunk of a glass ended up getting stuck in MJs shoe. Not to mention, he was wearing an orange and black jersey at the time, which ended up being the basis for the “Shattered Backboard” colorway which has been so popular on the Air Jordan 1 over the years.

Now, according to the Instagram account @zsneakerheadz, the colorway will be returning although this time on the Air Jordan 1 Low. In the photoshop rendering below, we can see that the base of the shoe is white all while the overlays are orange and the Nike swoosh is black. All of these elements make for an incredible shoe that will certainly be a huge hit upon release. Fans can’t seem to get enough of the “Shattered Backboard” look and these will prove to be fun for the summer.

Drake Suggests Listening To This Rare Reggae Album While Burning His Candles

Drake is establishing himself as an adequate businessman as he is an artist. Over the past year or so, he’s expanded his portfolio as an investor, as well as with his own product launches. Word on road is that he teamed up with Canadian cannabis company Canopy Growth in 2019, though it’s unclear when they will be launching products together. In the meantime, he’s launched his own brand of candles that he had all of his celebrity friends to embrace on the ‘Gram.

Better World Fragrance House is set to launch tomorrow (Mother’s Day) and ahead of its release, Complex offered a quick breakdown of the product. “Sweeter Tings,” “Williamsburg Sleepover,” “Good Thoughts,” and “Muskoka” are available for $48 a piece. For $85, Better World Fragrance House is offering a candle that’s meant to “actually smell like Drake,” appropriately titled, “Carby Musk.” 

Apparently, Drake’s advanced products came with a note about how he hopes “better your mood and surroundings” with his new candle. To maximize the experience, Drake has a suggestion for what you should be listening to. “I suggest playing the album that inspired this whole project the first time you light one: Midnite – Live In Eugene,” the note reportedly reads.
