Alkaline Releases New Project “Top Prize”

Alkaline hasn’t let a summer pass without dropping something for us to ride out to but it has been a minute since he’s released an album. 2016’s New Level Unlocked marked his official debut album, following much speculation surrounding his mysterious presence in the dancehall community.

Even though we’ve waited five years, Alkaline has made sure that the wait was well worth it with the release of his latest album, Top Prize. The album is stacked with fourteen songs and a run-time of nearly 45-minutes of pure summer anthems. The featureless project includes previously released singles like “Cree,” “Ocean Wave,” and “Deh Suh”

King Los Tackles “Forgot About Dre” On New Freestyle

There are few rappers in the game that can match the level of lyricism that King Los delivers every time he steps up to the mic. It was only a few days ago when we published the article titled, “What Happened To King Los? exploring his moves since the early 2010s when he was aligned with Diddy. He’s continued to make moves, proving that he’s still one of the illest to touch that mic with every track and freestyle he unleashes on his fans.

This week, the rapper came through with a brand new freestyle over Dr. Dre and Eminem’s iconic collab, “Forgot About Dre.” Los unleashes a bombardment of bars while flexing his technical prowess and witty lyricism.

Peep the track below.

Quotable Lyrics
Yeah, I’m talkin’ to you
It’s funny how they scared to converse but still wanna walk in my shoes
Study it, n***a, take your notes, jack the cadence, make the quotes
Make it yours, don’t make it Los, just make it close, holy shit, you’re makin’ clothes
The government gon’ think that I’m makin’ clones

Masego Introduces New “Mystery Lady” TrapHouseJazz Remix

Masego dropped off his popular Don Toliver-assisted single “Mystery Lady” back in November. The hit single was the final one rolled out for his 2020 project Studying Abroad, which marked the singer’s first project in two years. The flirty cut off the highly anticipated six-track collection was one of two songs on the project to include a featured artist, the second being “Silver Tongue Devil” with Shenseea.

He released the airy cut “Passport” and his collaboration with Shenseea as the first two singles from the project. The multi-hyphenate artist recently revealed to fans that he’s gearing up to treat them to the deluxe edition of the EP dubbed Studying Abroad: Extended Stay. Set to arrive next week on May 21st, the re-issue will feature additional appearances from TeaMarrr and Sheléa.

Ahead of the release of the deluxe, the announcements arrives alongside a TrapHouseJazz remix of the EP’s most popular track “Mystery Lady.” Electing to go solo for this version, the remix sounds like a completely different track. Keeping the lyrics largely the same, he switched his cadence and delivery for the updated track.

Give the “Mystery Lady (TrapHouseJazz Remix)” a listen below and let us know how you’re feeling about it.

Quotable Lyrics:

Thinking I could make this many songs ‘bout
A Lady, when I haven’t met her,
But she on me heavy.
On my cerebellum.
If I say I love her am I wrong
am I crazy, am I over zealous

Drake Compliments Kodak Black On New Album: “You Really On Another Level”

Drake was one of Kodak Black’s earliest supporters before the Florida native became a leading name in the rap scene. It earned him some criticism but clearly, it wasn’t enough to prevent the Canadian rapper from showing his public appreciation for Yak. On Friday, Kodak Black shared his latest album, Haitian Boy Kodak— his first project since his release from prison.

While the project might partially be drowned out by the hype surrounding J. Cole’s The Off-Season, it’s still winning over fans who’ve been eager to receive new, fresh music from Kodak. Apparently, it’s Yak’s work that has been fueling Drake’s creative energy. “Man you always give me that inspiration… Real POET… Oracle,” said Drake in a series of messages to Kodak Black on Instagram.

“I Wanna B Like You Bra, You The Greatest… Sign Me,” responded Kodak along with a laughing emoji and a purple demon emoji.

By Drake’s response, it didn’t seem like he was interested in adding the Broward County star to the OVO roster but he did invite Kodak to collaborate in the future. “Man let’s do some music for sure,” responded Drake. “But for real you really on another level.”

Maybe, it’s best for Kodak’s career at this point that he doesn’t get placed under Drake’s guidance but still, the Canadian rapper’s praise resonated deeply with Kodak.

“When drake holla @ me that mean the most… I appreciate everybody support to my new project #HaitianBoyKodak & Everything else,” he wrote on Twitter.

This, of course, would not be the first time Drake had good things to say about Kodak. Back in 2018, Drake also DM’d Kodak following the release of Dying To Live with praise. Kodak Black later publicly requested that Drake do an entire collaborative project with him.
