Some people are just built for boxing. Gervonta Davis can’t be stopped. Tonight, he earned a TKO over previously unbeaten champion Mario Barrios making him the new WBA super-lightweight champion. Although Barrios was still standing when the ref called the bout, Davis had dropped him twice in the eighth round and once in the 11th round. The stoppage was smart, as Davis was methodically punishing Barrios.
The first knockdown in the eight almost looked as if Barrios was done for as it happened. However, he recovered before being knocked down again. In the 11th, Davis delivered a devastating body shot that sent Barrios to the ground again.
Davis has also won the WBA world lightweight title and the IBF junior lightweight title. He went up two weight classes to fight Barrios, who was longer and bigger than Davis. However, Davis’ brutal hits and smart boxing earned him the victory. Davis’ record is now at 25-0. He was coming off an insane knockout of Leo Santa Cruz last October. Tyler, the Creator’s latest album Call Me If You’re Lost will most likely debut at #1 on Billboard. The project is a dope mix of chill vibes and will energy. DJ Drama is the only DJ who can scream over tracks and make them better somehow, and he brings that energy to the project. Although there are many dope tracks on this album, “WILSHIRE” really hits the spot.
On “WILSHIRE” Tyler raps about a lover that was his friend. The woman he raps about is dating his friend, but secretly they love each other. They never take any action on their love but they are close friends that are in love but can’t be together. The song is one of the longest on the album and features no chorus. Just straight storytelling. It’s dope hearing Tyler just vent through his lyrics with no backing vocals, hook, or features. The calm and smooth instrumental gives the song a touch of levity and clarity as well.

The Los Angeles Clippers tried to bounce back in Game 4, but it didn’t happen. After being smacked around for much of the first half, the Clippers came back against the Phoenix Suns in the second half. The final score was 84-80. Deandre Ayton came in clutch with yet another double double for the Suns, with 19 points and 22 rebounds. Devin Booker scored 25, while Chris Paul ended with 18 points and 7 rebounds.
The Suns led by as many as 16, but the Clippers refused to go down with a fight. Paul Geroge ended the game with 23 points and 16 rebounds, but he missed clutched free throws in the fourth quarter. George also botched a pair of free throws in Game 2, leading to a loss. There was also a strange 3-minute stretch where neither team could score late in the game. The Clippers remained down by one point for the entire time, unable to take the lead as the Suns missed shot after shot.
The Suns are now up 3-1 on the Clippers, who are sorely in need of Kawhi Leonard right now. It appears the Suns will head to the Finals and Chris Paul may get his first Finals appearance. H.E.R. is a multi-grammy-winning artist who is leading the R&B genre into the future while staying grounded in the roots. She just dropped new music, giving fans the long-awaited studio project they have been craving for. Still, no matter how great you are in life, some people can’t accept it. One troll on Twitter tried to come for H.E.R., suggesting the talented singer and songwriter has no hits. H.E.R. made a little time to trash the troll with some receipts.
She replied to the troll, writing, “thanks for asking” and included images of her gold and platinum records. However, she kept it humble because H.E.R. only showed a couple of the many she could have pulled out. Her collaboration with Khalid, “This Way,” and her songs “Hard Place” and “Jungle” were included in the clap back, but she didn’t add “Could’ve Been” with Bryson Tiller or “Losing.”
H.E.R. has four Grammys as well. She grabbed two in 2018: Best R&B Performance for “Best Part” and Best R&B Album for H.E.R., and two in 2020: Song of the Year for “I Can’t Breathe” and Best R&B Song for “Better Than I Imagine.” Nice try, troll. What do you think about H.E.R.’s new album?
Bow Wow and Soulja Boy have spent the last few weeks taunting each other online, preparing for their Verzuz battle. This matchup has been talked about for a while, so audiences were eager to see how the two rappers stacked up their singles against one another. And we were not disappointed. It’s amazing that just two or so years ago, Twitter and social media were roasting Bow Wow relentlessly. Now, fans around the world are demanding that Bow Wow get his flowers. It only took a Verzuz battle to remind the world how monumental Bow Wow was.
Fans got a glimpse of what The Millennium Tour 2021 would be like, after Omarion hopped on stage to add his vocals to Bow Wow’s set. Romeo also made a guest appearance, and had a moment.
Fans were quick to claim that Bow Wow won, however, Soulja Boy got a lot of love as well. One thing that everyone did agree on though was that this was one of the best Verzuz battles ever. Even Da Brat and Jermaine Dupri made appearances.
