2 NYC Children Narrowly Missed After A Gunman Shoots A Man In Front Of Them

Gun violence has been an ongoing issue in the United States. Major cities like Atlanta, Chicago, and New York City have all reported an increase in gun violence in their cities, with some attributing the increase of violence to the easing of COVID-19 restrictions as summertime arrives.

In a new heinous gun-related crime, a 24-year-old man was shot in broad daylight in the Bronx on Thursday (June 17) right in front of two children, who were narrowly missed during the ordeal. The two children, who were on the way to the corner store to buy candy, were trampled as the victim attempted to flee from the assailant.

At least a dozen shots were fired by the black-masked human as he repeatedly fired at his fallen target, who knocked down a 10-year-old girl and her 5-year-old brother as he tried to escape. While being entangled with the kids, the gunman continued to fire, just narrowly missing the children.

The 5-year-old boy’s legs can be seen shaking in fear at one point before his older sister protectively shielded him from the violence. Miraculously, neither child was hit during the bloodshed. The incident occurred right before 7 pm near Mt. Eden Parkway. According to law enforcement, the shooter then fled on a scooter.

The victim was shot three times, once in the back and once in each leg, and was transported to nearby Bronx Lebanon Hospital. According to cops, he’s expected to survive. Incidents of gun violence in the borough have doubled so far this year compared to the same period in 2020. Friends of the kids’ family say they’re hoping to raise enough money so the traumatized kids and their family can move.

The parents of the children noted they were too afraid to file a complaint in the case. Police are hoping that the footage of the incident can lead to an arrest.

Lou Williams Praises Terance Mann Following Epic Performance

Terance Mann’s heroics on Friday night helped propel the Los Angeles Clippers to their first-ever Western Conference Finals. The team was down 25 points to the Utah Jazz at one point during the contest and while many thought this would be an insurmountable lead, the Clippers proved everyone wrong, as Mann scored a whopping 39 points, while only missing six shots total.

Following the game, Mann credited Lou Williams with his performance, as Williams was his mentor in Los Angeles. Now, Williams is on the Atlanta Hawks although Mann still felt that it was necessary to show some love.

“It’s bittersweet. Lou Will is my vet,” Mann explained via Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints. “He taught me how to be a pro, how to approach the game, how to have the right mentality during the game, good or bad. He always picked me up if things were going bad. It’s tough having him gone.”

Mann eventually took to Instagram where he celebrated the big win, and in true Lou Will fashion, he was right there to congratulate his man as he commented “Proud of you champ!” Williams is going through a similar battle as Mann, as the Hawks are now headed to a Game 7 against the Philadelphia 76ers.

As for Mann, he and his teammates will now get to face the Phoenix Suns in the Western Conference Finals, and this is sure to be a wonderful match.

Drake Reportedly Needed To Be Convinced To Rap On “Degrassi”

It’s been over a decade since Drake emerged as a frontrunner for this generation’s Mt. Rushmore of rap but it’s been even longer since he was a regular face on Degrassi: The Next Generation. He played the role of Jimmy Brooks, a high school basketball star that was infamously shot and placed in a wheelchair for the remainder of his time on the show. However, Jimmy’s musical ambitions were highlighted on a few occasions which revealed that even Drake’s character had bars.

Despite the massive platform, Drake was reportedly adamant in separating his rap aspirations and acting career. According to Degrassi EP Stephen Stohn, who spoke to PageSix during ATX TV Festival, there were many unsuccessful attempts to get Drizzy to rap on the show. “He would play us mix tapes and we really tried to talk him into letting us use some of his music in the show and getting him to rap and sing,” Stohn said.

Drake stood “firm” on his decision, even after pressure from producers attempted to get Jimmy Brooks deeper into music. His music side was one side of his career and the acting was another,” Stohn continued. “We did manage to get him to do some rap, but it did take some convincing.”

However, Stohn admitted that he didn’t predict the level of Drake’s success. “We knew that the music was compelling, we had no idea how compelling it would be,” Stohn added.

Of course, Degrassi played a massive role in Drake’s overall success, even as a rapper. While Wayne continued to refer to his artist as “Wheelchair Jimmy” for years to come, Drake brought the cast of Degrassi: The Next Generation together for 2018’s “I’m Upset” music video.

Kim Kardashian Believes She Owes Ex Kris Humphries An Apology

“I fully broke up with him in the worst way,” billionaire Kim Kardashian admitted about her relationship with Kris Humphries Thursday night on Andy Cohen’s Watch What Happens Live. According to TMZ, Kim was surrounded by her mom and sisters during the interview where she acknowledged that she owes ex-husband and former NBA player Humphries an apology for the way she handled their 2011 marriage. Kim cited nervousness and insistence from Keeping Up with the Kardashians execs as the reason she handled the situation in “totally the wrong way.”

The couple’s 72-day marriage was a focus in that season of KUWTK. Kim explained she pursued the rushed marriage because she felt “pressured” to keep the wedding on. However, as soon as their honeymoon started, Kim said she remembered feeling “claustrophobic” and immediately regretful of the commitment she made. It seems the only reason the couple made it to the two-month mark is that, as Kim stated, she “was so nervous to break up with someone.”

Kim disclosed that she had tried to apologize numerous times to Kris for years after the marriage ended, though he remained angry and unresponsive to her. Kim and sister Khloe remembered a specific incident in 2015 where the ex-couple ran into each other at the Beverly Hills Hotel and Kris “literally looked at me and wouldn’t speak to me.” That incident was four years after the couple separated and Kim said it was only one of the numerous attempts at apologizing.

BONES Delivers The Reflective Project “InLovingMemory”

Bone, née Elmo Kennedy O’Connor, is a Los Angeles-based artist. Often recognized for helping pioneer the hip-hop subgenre often referred to as “emo rap,” he’s developed a large underground fanbase. He was notably featured on ASAP Rocky’s “Canal St.” back in 2015, joining the Harlem emcee on the Jimmy Kimmel Live! show to perform the song as well.

Known for his large music catalog, he released 10 albums between 2015 and 2017 alone. Boasting a cult-like following that faithfully tunes in to his new releases, he’s spoken out about in the past about numerous major labels showing interest in him. According to LA Weekly journalist Max Bell “interested labels wanted him to be their ‘white rapper,’ an artist along the lines of Mac Miller and Machine Gun Kelly. But O’Connor wasn’t interested in being remade.”

His latest project InLovingMemory marks his third release this year alone. He teased the new album to fans on social media in the weeks ahead of its arrival, first announcing the project on May 15th. The reflective project features 17 tracks all performed by Bones.

Blueface Becomes Latest Rapper To Put In Work In The Boxing Ring

It has become increasingly popular for content creators to enter the world of boxing as there appears to be a lot of money in novelty matches. A few years ago, Soulja Boy proposed a fight against the likes of Chris Brown although it never came to fruition. Now, we have YouTubers and TikTok stars getting into the ring to battle it out against each other, and while the results have been mixed, there is no doubt that there is a lot of money to be made here.

In the rap world, various artists have been showcasing their talents in the ring, including Rick Ross and more recently, Meek Mill. The latest rapper to try out the sport is none other than Blueface, who has always been one for entrepreneurship. With his OnlyFans, Blueface knows how to make money, and if he continues down the boxing path, perhaps he will get himself a few millions.

As for his actual skills, Blueface seems to be quite agile and his punches are fairly quick. The rapper is a natural athlete who dominated as a high school quarterback, so it shouldn’t come as a shock that he is also good at boxing. If he were to do partake in a fight, we have no idea who he would battle, although we’re sure there are plenty of people out there who would accept the challenge.

With celebrity boxing becoming the next big thing, it will be interesting to see who else gets in the ring. No matter who it is, the promoters will definitely be ready to make some fights happen.

Saweetie Confirms A Release Date For ‘Pretty B*tch Music’ Through A Performance On ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’

It’s been a long wait for Saweetie’s official debut album Pretty B*tch Music, but at least it hasn’t been that grueling. That’s because the Bay Area act has released a number of tracks as she’s worked on finishing her opus. At long last, the project is complete, as its release date was revealed just moments before Saweetie’s performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

The host of the late-night show gave a brief introduction to Saweetie before her performance of “Fast (Motion).” It was here that Kimmel revealed Pretty B*tch Music will be released on June 25. This gives fans less than a week to prepare themselves for the album’s arrival, which also lands on the same day of projects to be released by Tyler The Creator and Doja Cat.

As for the performance itself, Saweetie delivered a flashy set atop a rooftop that was riddled with flashing lights and a squad of backup dancers. Pretty B*tch Music will also arrive a little over two months after Saweetie’s most recent project, Pretty Summer Playlist: Season 1.

You can watch her performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! above.

Saweetie is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Chloe Bailey’s Spicy Cover Of Nina Simone’s ‘Feeling Good’ Leaves Fans Divided

Juneteenth honors the day the Emancipation Proclamation reached the state and thus marked all slaves as free. First celebrated in Texas, it’s expanded over the years. Indeed, this week President Joe Biden made it a federal holiday. On Friday night, just a day before the holiday, ABC held a Juneteenth TV special, Together We Triumph, that featured performances by Jimmie Allen, Chloe Bailey, and Leon Bridges. By the end of the night, it was clear that Chloe’s performance caught the most attention.

The singer took to the stage to share her cover of Nina Simone’s “Feeling Good” during the Juneteenth TV special. Her performance came with a spicy dance routine that left people divided, with some deeming it unfit for the classic soul song. “Idc Chloe Bailey ATE,” one person wrote on Twitter. “Just at the wrong table though—baby it’s Nina Simone [looking eyes emoji].” Others, though, defended what she’d done.

“Y’all MUST do some research on Nina Simone before saying Chloe Bailey didn’t understand the assignment,” they wrote. “Nina Simone was literally a free-spirited woman.” They added, “Go watch the documentary of Nina on Hulu, then tweet lol.”

You can watch a clip of Chloe’s performance above and check out more reactions to it below.

Barstool Sports’ Dave Portnoy Receives Short-Lived Twitter Ban

Dave Portnoy is one of the largest voices in sports media as he is the founder and owner of Barstool Sports. The Barstool empire has grown quite a bit over the last decade and while many hate Portnoy for his antics, there is no denying that he is a big name in the sports world. Portnoy is most active on Twitter, where he can be seen interacting with fans and also clapping back on his haters.

On Friday, after telling a hater “Let me drop my nuts on your head,” Portnoy was suspended from Twitter and it sparked outrage amongst Barstool fans. “#FreePortnoy” began to trend on Twitter and for a few hours, there seemed to be nothing but radio silence. Eventually, however, Twitter rescinded the suspension and Portnoy made his presence felt as he tweeted “I’m Back.”

While speaking to Fox News, Portnoy said “The will of the people will be heard” and in the end, he was correct. Portnoy has gotten in hot water for his comments in the past, although a Twitter suspension seemed to be quite harsh considering he was just engaging in some trolling.

Regardless, Portnoy is back on Twitter now, much to the delight of Barstool fans everywhere. Whether or not he will be able to keep his nose clean, is another story.
